My thoughts were running on the same thread too. Those who hold up the argument that killin criminals does not deter others also fail to understand that keeping them alive only encourages others to indulge in crime.Just look at the number of fatal knife stabbings in the UK on any given day not to talk of a whole year
Christianity EtcElton John:Jesus Was Gay by cold(op): 4:54pm On Mar 25, 2010
Sir Elton John says Jesus was super-intelligent gay man  shocked

Sir Elton John has claimed Jesus was a "super-intelligent gay man" in an interview with a US magazine.

The singer also told Parade Jesus was "compassionate", forgiving and "understood human problems".

A spokesman for the Church of England said: "Sir Elton's reflection that Jesus calls us all to love and forgive is one shared by all Christians."

"But insights into aspects of the historic person of Jesus are perhaps best left to the academics," he added.

Sir Elton said in the interview: "On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving.

"I don't know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East - you're as good as dead," he added.

In the interview, the singer also said he did not like being a celebrity any more because "fame attracts lunatics".

"Princess Diana, Gianni Versace, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, all dead. Two of them shot outside their houses. None of this would have happened if they hadn't been famous. I never had a bodyguard, ever, until Gianni died," he said.

This same thing happened to me too abt 2 mths ago.Someone called my girlfriend's mum & claimed he was me calling from England & that he sent  her a substantial amt of money; That she shld go to a certain bank & collect the cash, adding that 'pls mama just manage it for now' lol.

Fortunately for her she called her daughter & explained to her the conversation that had just ensued btw her & the impersonator claiming to be me saying she was already on her way to the bank to collect the money. Her daughter told the mum that she has no idea what she's on about & that we spoke the day b4 & i never mentioned anything of the sort. The daughter had to instruct the mum to tarry awhile while she gets in touch with me  to confirm.Of course it wasn't me & i told her so laughing really hard, who knows what was in the offing for the old woman, they probably might have abducted her for a ransome.Where i for start, poor me,lmao.
CrimeThe Death Penalty:should It Be Abolished? by cold(op): 1:54pm On Mar 20, 2010
The death penalty has been abrogated in countries within the EU & some other regions in the world but still practised in the United States China & Nigeria (in principle since no execution has been carried out for several years).Lately Nigeria has come under intense pressure to abolish the death penalty in its entirety.Do you think the death penalty should be struck off the Nigerian legislation or are you of the opinion the death penalty stays.State your reasons why you're for or against.

Tiger Woods is set to return to professional golf at the Masters next month,April 8th to be precise.

Woods has been pictured practising and there has been mounting speculation that he could return to action in the unofficial Tavistock Cup next Monday and Tuesday, the Arnold Palmer Invitational later the same week.

However, the Augusta National club has confirmed that Woods will play at The Masters next month

Woods admitted to "transgressions" on his website, then used the same forum to announce he was taking an indefinite break from the gave to try to save his marriage.

It was not until Feb 19 that he finally made a public appearance. It was merely to read a statement rather than answer questions, however, and only towards the end of his 13-minute guilt-ridden, apology-laden address to family and friends at the headquarters of the PGA Tour did he actually mention his career.

"I do plan to return to golf one day, I just don't know when that day will be," he said. "I don't rule out that it will be this year. When I do return, I need to make my behaviour more respectful of the game."

NJC suspends judge for street fighting

The National Judicial Council has suspended Justice Idris Habib Shall of Bauchi State High Court from office.

According to the NJC, the suspension of the judge was as a result of his conduct which it said involved street fighting.

The judge was said to have failed in an alleged bid to kidnap an unidentified person by trying to force him into the boot of his car.

The NJC in a statement by its secretary, Mr. Danladi Halilu, said the commission took the decision to suspend the judge at its meeting held on February 24 and 25.

The statement reads in part, “The NJC has suspended Hon. Justice Idris Habib Shall of the Bauchi State High Court from office with the immediate effect.

“The suspension is pursuant to the findings of the Council that Justice Shall fought on the street and physically assaulted the petitioner – one Kassim Danlami Shall of Ministry of Works and Transport, Bauchi, Bauchi State.

“Further, the judge had attempted to abduct the petitioner into the boot of his car.

“At its 50th meeting which was held on February 24 and 24, 2010, Council found the conduct of Justice Shall despicable and contrary to the Code of Conduct of judicial officials of the Federation as well as the oath of office he had subscribed to.

“Thus, in the exercise of its powers under the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the National Judicial Council decided to suspend His Lordship from office until further notice.”

PoliticsRe: Requiem Biafra - Quotes from the War by cold(m): 6:25pm On Mar 15, 2010
Obasanjo to an audience in Bayelsa as president

"The entire nation fought a bitter 30-month civil war to ensure that the resources of the nation are kept intact. Since the whole country fought for it, it would be wrong now to allow a few people to control the resources of the country simply because it is within their territory. This is unfair." President Obasanjo's statement was illogical, unacceptable and meaningless. The reference to the civil war was in bad faith. It was also misleading. Continuing on the civil war theme, President Obasanjo said: "The Biafran war was more of a war for resource control , If Nigeria had lost, that man (Emeka Ojukwu) would have cancelled Rivers State which gave birth to Bayelsa. If Ojukwu had won, I know I would be dead by now and so many other people would be dead, too."

It is regrettable that Obasanjo should be breathing the fire of the civil war more than 30 years after the end of the war. Obasanjo's statement was irresponsible, highly mischievous, irascible, irreverent, un-presidential, reckless, misleading and an exercise in political chicanery. Not only did Obasanjo give a wrong account of the reasons for the civil war (in which he participated), he also personalised the war as a confrontation between himself and Emeka Ojukwu. Obasanjo does not wish to learn from history. After taking the flak for presenting himself as the invincible warrior in his much-reviled book My Command Obasanjo ought to realise that being egotistical is next to being self-conceited.
