The wisest person in this whole essay of yours aside your parents is your first girlfriend, you and the rest are something else. |
My eyes caught "the power of dreams" on the second guy's tee. ![]() He's really living his dreams |
1. Mavis beacon. My reason being that it introduces you to the keyboard and makes you comfortable with the computer system and also your typing speed which is greatly needed in cyber cafés 2. Microsoft office tools: Helps you get up to speed with daily office task which can help you with employment in most cyber cafés just as in the first one above 3. Corel draw /Photoshop. Photo manipulation/poster design. This can easily make you the photo guy for your organisation's graphics work or can make you get a job in a photo studio 4. Antivirus : Keeps you and your computer sane if you're the type that clicks anything online. It will also make you look sophisticated when you are scanning and showing off to those office babes that doesn't know why their desktop monitor is writing no signal 4. Basic text editor e.g Notepad Can be used to introduce most programming language available today. 5. Operating system. This is the most important of all computer programs and should have been first on my list but you wanted what's relevant in this country and that's windows in which most consumer systems have it installed before shipping. It's just here for knowledge sake. This is not an exhaustive list so take your time and narrow down your search and better results will come up. Example: computer programs for graphics design. Computer programs for web development. Computer programs for breaking the internet etc |
I have a big problem which is that I'm currently serving(NYSC) in a rural area where there's no hope for electricity supply in the next few months and there's hardly a place to charge my gadgets to my satisfaction and I've been weighing the option of going for a small gen set or the mtn yellow box. The gadgets in question are just my laptop(which needs to be active for at least 12 hours a day with a greater proportion of those hours at night) and my phone only. Please, penny-wise and maybe with experience, which of the above options do you think will be okay for me having in mind that I have a budget of just 30k and just for the service year. P.s. If there's any nice alternative, please do let me know too. Thanks |
I would have taken this thread seriously if it was a girl behind it. Self righteousness is ignorance in its own bliss. A typical case of burning your own house to show your neighbour what fire can do to a house. |
Dammy... U2014 human anatomy (uniport) will never forget the joy and laughter you brought to us in the last 4 years. May your loving soul rest in peace. |
Week one - Learn Python. I found a great course on python which is absolutely free. It is a 6 hours course tailored towards beginners with 3 projects centred around automation, machine learning and web development with django offered by Mosh Hamedani on his YouTube channel. Follow the link below if interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uQrJ0TkZlc |
asalimpo:I personally think the big deal about python is its learning curve for beginners. Nobody started with addition and subtraction in their nursery school days but identification of numbers. Improvement and innovation is one thing I've seen all over the tech industry so don't worry, other languages will soon be used for data science, ML and others. N.B. I didn't mention R because I don't know of its ML capabilities yet. |
in this journey, there's going to be 3 projects with one (1) weekly assignment Tools Used Python, SQL, R, Tensorflow, Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark, GitHub. Below is the curriculum for month one extracted from the above link. Month 1 - Data Analysis Week 1 - Learn Python EdX https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-python-data-science-2 Siraj Raval https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5pRlIbr6gg&list=PL2-dafEMk2A6QKz1mrk1uIGfHkC1zZ6UU Week 2 - Statistics & Probability KhanAcademy https://www.khanacademy.org/math/statistics-probability Week 3 Data Pre-processing, Data Visualization, Exploratory Data Analysis EdX https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-to-computing-for-data-analysis Week 4 Kaggle Project #1 Try your best at a competition of your choice from Kaggle. Use Kaggle Learn as a helpful guide |
Hello, have you been longing to learn something tangible in the tech industry and you've always found yourself at the bottom after almost every trial or you are stuck learning without significant progress or being able to create a real-world application(a term commonly referred to as tutorial purgatory)? Maybe that was a description of what you've been passing through or I'm just describing my frustration. If you can relate to the above or you want to start a career in tech and interested in data science, you are highly welcomed. This journey "learn data science in 3 months" is based on the curriculum given by one of the gurus in the field of data science and the director school of AI Siraj Raval using this link https://github.com/llSourcell/Learn_Data_Science_in_3_Months Requirements 1. Believe in your ability to learn and unlearn 2. 2-4 study hours per day 3. Data and light considering we are in Nigeria 4. learn to watch videos at 2x speed alongside. a Notebook and pen (accelerated learning) 5. perseverance This journey is expected not to be strictly based on the curriculum as experienced data scientist and programmers in the house are please been called upon to help make this journey a worthwhile one for beginners like me(us) who wants to dive into tech whether to make a career or hobby out of it by looking into the curriculum and adjusting or suggesting alternatives where possible. thank you in advance as you decide to join this journey whether as a beginner or an expert to help everyone involved to not only see the light at the end of the tunnel but the beauty and opportunities beyond it. |
