HealthChocolate & Marijuaina - The Hidden Truth! by collins123(op): 11:04am On Sep 08, 2010
Chocolate is a complex and intriguing food. A captivating confection, it contains more than 300 known chemical compounds. Chocolate is psychoactive. Just like cannabis, it promotes a mental state of happiness and feeling of well being, as well as increasing physical relaxation and decreasing pain. Chocolate can mimic the action of cannabis on the brain by its ability to bond to and activate the brains cannabinoid receptors. It accomplishes this because of a chemical called Anandamide, the main one of 5 naturally occurring chemical compounds mainly responsible for the psychoactive effects of chocolate. Anandamide is an endogenous cannabinoid that binds to and activates the cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2, found in the body. The CB1 receptors are found in the brain, central nervous system, and organs such as the heart, uterus, testis, and small intestine. The CB2 receptors are located around the spleen and other cells associated with immunochemical functions, except the brain. Phenyl‑ethylamine, or “the love chemical”, is another key ingredient in the make‑up of chocolate. It helps mediate feelings of attraction, excitement, giddiness, apprehension, and euphoria. It is naturally occurring in the brain and peaks during orgasm. Pure phenyl‑ethylamine effects the body more intensely then amphetamines. Tryptophan is also present in chocolate. Tryptophan is the production manager of the natural mood modulator serotonin. It is also a sleep aid and an essential amino acid. Increasing tryptophan enhances serotonin function and in turn diminishes anxiety. Chocolate also contains Theo‑bromine, a stimulant that is mild, long lasting, and mood elevating. It has also been recently discovered that Theo‑bromine is superior to opiates, such as codeine, because of its effects on the vagus nerve. It is often confused with caffeine, which has very different effects. Caffeine is another psychoactive chemical found in chocolate, it has a strong and immediate effect that increases alertness and heart rate. It is found in 60 known plants and has been used as a stimulant for centuries. Caffeine is the worlds most widely consumed psychoactive substance. Chocolate’s complex chemical make‑up solidifies it as a substance worth noting in the holistic medical field. Eating chocolate triggers the release of endorphins. Endorphins reduce pain sensitivity and increase the overall feeling of contentment and happiness. Dark chocolate is best for frequent consumption rather than calorie rich milk chocolate. It also has a higher content of the psychoactive chemicals we just discussed. When chocolate and cannabis are combined the cannabinoid receptors are literally saturated with cannabinoid, from both the cannabis and the chocolate. Chocolate increases the effects of the cannabis to the consumer, while increasing and prolonging the presence of our own endogenous cannabinoid Anandamide. This means that, the amount of cannabis needed for medicinal purposes may be decreased as long as taken with dark chocolate. This also means that the medicinal qualities of cannabis are actually raised when taken with chocolate and vice versa! So go find yourself a fine chocolate bar with a cocoa content of at least 52%, and a large sack of your favorite cannabis and do some research.

I think Chocolate should be banned too. Police, brand new tip!

RomanceWhen Marriage Proposals Go Awry. by collins123(op): 12:18pm On Aug 14, 2010
Here's a tip for anyone planning to propose. Do it on solid ground. Matt Cawley learned that lesson the hard way when he popped the question with a $9000 ring attached to a sand dollar on a jetty in Cape Cod. When girlfriend Stacey Scanlon picked up the shell, the ring fell into the water and disappeared. “It was the worst feeling in the world,” Cawley said in an interview with TodayShow.com. At least, he's in good company. Actress Megan Fox also lost her 2-carat engagement ring on a beach after boyfriend Brian Austin Green proposed. Despite sending her minions to comb the shore, she never retrieved it. Ocean: 2. Finger: 0.

But staying inland isn't the only guarantee of a smooth proposal. One outdoorsy type proposed to his girlfriend on a rugged hike in Maryland. In her excitement, she slipped, fell off a cliff and had to be rescued by helicopter. Reed Harris' proposal also ended with a trip to the emergency room. He thought to surprise girlfriend Kaitlin Whipple with a ring in her milkshake. Guess who's a gulper? In the emergency room, Harris proposed with the X-Ray of the ring in her stomach in place of the real thing. She said yes, and spent the next few days eating prunes, trying to pass the diamond. Kaitlin wrote on her blog: "It arrived this morning and I have never been so excited about my bodily functions."

Then there's P.J. Meital who spelled out "Marry Me Michelle" in human-sized poster board letters on the Mall of the Washington Monument. When his girlfriend reached the top of the Monument, all she saw from 555 feet were the words "Harry Me Michelle". Turns out his first M wasn't very well constructed and Michelle passed it off as a local oddity. And don't forget the girl who missed her own Jumbotron proposal because she was in the bathroom. At least she said yes. If there's anything we've learned from the internet, it's that proposals at sporting events aren't the best idea. But they sure are fun to watch. Check out some of the most cringe-worthy engagement attempts caught on tape.

PoliticsOur Dailies Are Filled With Shitty Headlines. by collins123(op): 11:47am On Aug 04, 2010
For over 2 weeks or so, I personally have been saddened by the headlines of our dailies.

Monday 'OBJ advises the North to stay out of Politics'
Tuesday 'Jonathan may sue IBB over ballot papers'
Wednesday 'Jonathan for 2011, leave it or take it, blasts IBB'
Thursday 'North no go gree, IBB responds, orders for more back up' and so on and so forth.

I think the dailies don't have something new to report or nothing worth acknowledging is happening in Nigeria at the moment. Or tell me, what does the above have to do with the present situation, and even the future self?

HealthWhats Wrong With Marijuana by collins123(op): 7:02pm On Jul 27, 2010
Nearly three-quarters-of-a-century after it was made illegal; half-a-century after it was proven to be practically harmless - why is it still a crime to possess and smoke marijuana?

Here is a list of ten famous people who died as a result of nicotine abuse:

Humphrey Bogart
Edward R. Murrow
Nat King Cole
George Harrison
John Huston
Noel Coward
Betty Grable
Walt Disney
Gary Cooper
Peter Jennings

Here is another list. Ten famous people who died from alcoholism:

Billie Holiday
Jack Kerouac
Truman Capote
Lorenz Hart
Veronica Lake
Bix Beiderbecke
Montgomery Clift
Dylan Thomas
John Barrymore
Errol Flynn

Now I'm going to ask you to name for me one celebrity who has died from too much grass.

Go on, I'm waiting,

Couldn't do it, could you? Don't feel bad. Neither could I. Not only am I not aware of anyone ever dying in that manner, I am not aware of it happening in all recorded human history. If someone can come up with one example I'll shut up forever on the subject. Is it a "gateway drug" as they never tire of reminding us? Yeah, it probably is. But so is Pabst Blue Ribbon. Also, ciggies and booze have absolutely no medicinal value. Marijuana has. Think about it.

Do I advocate its use? I don't. I haven't smoked pot in over twenty years and have no intention to take up the habit again any time soon. But at the dawn of the second decade of the twenty-first century the question is screaming to be asked: Why are we still having this stupid conversation?
