idid:i already broke down what Buhari said to you and told you Reuben Abati was the one who mischievously misinterpreted Kare jini Biri Jini to mean dogs and baboon soaked in blood when it was refering to a big struggle between two big animals. The big animals in this case were Buhari and Jonathan at the polls. |
chloedogie:This is very true and if per adventure the military are forced to take over which is usually the case, things would get much worse fast. |
idid:Can you share your version of the truth please? And do note that the videos i posted do not talk about money laundry and insults to the government but strictly talks about an incitement to a violent revolutionary overthrow of the President, Governors, Chief Justice and DSS Do note that these are essentially the three tiers of government in Nigeria. |
idid:You are the one ignorant of the law and i will keep showing you until you get it. Below is from our constitution Punishment for treason Whoever commits treason shall be punished with death, and whoever attempts or abets treason shall be punished with imprisonment for life or for any less term or with fine or with both. Treasonable crimes (1) Whoever intends- (a) To remove otherwise than by constitutional means during his term or office- (i) The President of the Federal Republic; or (ii) The Governor of any State of the Federal Republic; I am sure you can see INTENT there and not action. The law does not wait until after an act has been carried out before you are culpable. It also covers INTENT just like when we have actual murder and INTENT to commit murder. Both are offences under the law but carry different penalties. |
idid:You do not need to get all hot and bothered and start a tirade of insults. if you do not like the thread, quietly move to another one. According to our constitution, Treason is not a bailable offence so our courts got it wrong for some reason that time when Sowore was granted bail. Kindly move on if you wish to turn this to a cuss fest |
delpee:Let me help here. Buhari spoke in Hausa that day and his exact words were "kare jini, biri jini", which is a daily Hausa proverb which means "it’s going be a fight to the finish like when two big animals fight" He was talking about the elections and that it would be a tough one between both candidates. I speak and understand much of Hausa so I know. And if you don't believe me then go ahead and ask an Hausa man for its interpretation rather than believing anything you are told. That nonsensical rumour began with Reuban Abati who chose to mislead people like you with lies. Abati deliberately lied when he tried to interpret it. Kare jini, biri jini has nothing to do with dogs or baboon or even blood. |
idid:Read my second post again and you will see the law of Nigeria concerning Treason. |
OfoIgbo:Sowore never approached the courts but soon after losing at the polls decided to engage a revolution to oust a democratically elected President along with the governors, Chief Justice and DSS. Did he lose at the polls to Governors too? He included both President, Chief Justice, Governors and DSS as those he wanted to remove so what then do you think he wanted to do or how do you think he wanted to achieve this? Through the law courts? |
idid:Go and read the laws that govern Britain and that which governs Nigeria. Our laws vary so do not use a British incident to compare a Nigerian incident. In Britain, gay living is not against the law but it is in Nigeria will you compare both scenarios too? |
nku5:Sowore never miscalculated. He knew exactly what he was doing and what he was aiming for. He said and i quote "I'm not talking of protest. I'm embarking on revolution. 85% of Nigerians are in support. Don't tell me about legal implications or what a Judge will say. I don't care. We must bundle Buhari out of that place...the DSS shall seize to exist!" With the words in red you can see he never miscalculated but knew what he was doing |
gidgiddy:You really know nothing about the law. Sowore had already printed outfits and hats with the revolutionNow logo on it and he himself admitted he already had 20 reps in 20 states and they all were ready to commence the shutting down of Nigeria. Plus he had already started holding open rallies sensitizing people about the revolution. He did this openly and via media. You see in Law, there is provision for the expression of INTENT in the commission of a crime. Just like actual murder carries a heavier penalty than intent to commit murder. This is why the punishments for treason for both action and intent are captured in our constitution. Read Punishment for treason Whoever commits treason shall be punished with death, and whoever attempts or abets treason shall be punished with imprisonment for life or for any less term or with fine or with both. Treasonable crimes (1) Whoever intends- (a) To remove otherwise than by constitutional means during his term or office- (i) The President of the Federal Republic; or (ii) The Governor of any State of the Federal Republic; As you can see, an intention is not an action but it still has a penalty. Plus a revolution does not need to be armed. Our constitution did not specify on arms but on treason in general. So you need to disabuse your mind from thinking this is about arms. If you think it is impossible to overthrow a government without arms go and ask Sudan. The same Sudan whose example Sowore was following and wanted to implement in Nigeria |
chloedogie:True most of the noise makers are too young to know the implications. You say you want a better Nigeria yet are calling for a revolution that would set you back 20 or so years and leave you a country dependent on aid and hand outs. They really do not think. |
ebukamen:We are in military era now remember? After all Buhari is now a major general. |
chloedogie:You have spoken well. Sowore had very very sinister motives and it somehow points to the fact that he may not have been working alone. He may be a stooge to much bigger interests (nothing is to be left out). If what he intended had started in Nigeria, the extent to which law and order would quickly degenerate and turn to a dog eat dog scenario with deaths and destruction and killings and mass shootings would make Syria look like Disneyland especially with the presence of Boko Haram up north. Our military would be stretched thin and Boko Haram or any other external interest could easily over run Nigeria. |
Sowore somehow got people to think all he wanted were protests while his end aim was actually the removal of the governments of the day as that was his original intent going by the first interview he had at Arise Television Videos do not lie do they? |
Do note that Sowores entire family are living abroad yet he is calling for such as this in Nigeria while his own family is safe and while he has the USA as another home as against many here who only have Nigeria. The way Nigeria is and with her population, if such as happened in Sudan happens here the casualties would be far worse than Syria and Iraq combined. |
It is thus clear from the content of the videos that Sowore has to a large extent committed the act of Treason when he called for the removal through revolution of the President and Governors. This is not my own view but is evidenced by his own words in the video and x rayed by the constitution of Nigeria as indicated Treasonable crimes (1) Whoever intends- (a) To remove otherwise than by constitutional means during his term or office- (i) The President of the Federal Republic; or (ii) The Governor of any State of the Federal Republic; |
What does the Nigerian constitution classify as Treason and what are the punishments it attracts Treason (1) Whoever levies war against the State, in order to intimidate or overawe the President, commits treason. (2) Nothing in this section shall prevent any act from being treason which is so by the law of England as in force in Nigeria. *The numbering is consecutive with that of the Penal Code of the Northern State. Punishment for treason Whoever commits treason shall be punished with death, and whoever attempts or abets treason shall be punished with imprisonment for life or for any less term or with fine or with both. Treasonable crimes (1) Whoever intends- (a) To remove otherwise than by constitutional means during his term or office- (i) The President of the Federal Republic; or (ii) The Governor of any State of the Federal Republic; (b) to levy war against Nigeria or any part of the Federation in order by force or constraint to compel the President or the Governor of a State as the case may be, to change his measures or counsels, or in order to put any force or constraint upon or to intimidate or overawe either House of the National Assembly or, as the case may be, the House of Assembly of a State; or (c) to instigate any person not a national of Nigeria to make an armed invasion on Nigeria or any part thereof, and manifests such intention by an overt act, shall be punished with imprisonment for life or any less term and shall also be liable to fine. (2) A person charged with any of the offences specified in this section is not entitled to be acquitted on the ground that any act proved to have been committed by him constitutes the offence of treason; but a person who has been tried, and convicted or acquitted, on a charge of any such offence cannot be afterwards prosecuted for treason in respect of the same facts. Inciting to mutiny Whoever- (a) seduces any person serving in the armed forces or the police force from his duty of allegiance to the State; (b) Incites any such person to commit an act of mutiny, shall be punished with imprisonment for life or for any less term and also be liable to fine. Causing disaffection among soldiers, police or prison officers (1) Whoever causes or does any act calculated to cause disaffection amongst persons serving as- (a) Members of the armed forces of Nigeria; or (b) Police officers; or (c) Prison officers, or does any act calculated to induce any person serving as aforesaid to withhold his services or to commit breaches of discipline, shall be punished with imprisonment which may extend to three years or with fine which may extend to N600 or with both. (2) For the purposes of this section the expression “prison officer” shall have the same meaning as in subsection (1) of section 19 of the Prisons Act. Assisting or allowing escape of prisoners of war Whoever intentionally aids an enemy of the State, being a prisoner of war in Nigeria, whether such prisoner is confined in prison or elsewhere, or is suffered to be at large on his parole, to escape from his prison or place of confinement, or if he is at large on his parole, to escape from Nigeria, shall be punished with imprisonment for life or for any less term and shall also be liable to fine, and whoever negligently or unlawfully permits the escape of any such prisoner shall be punished with imprisonment which may extend to two years or with fine or with both. |
Here are the videos which allegedly got Sowore in trouble with the DSS and the FG of Nigeria. From the first video he can be seen being interviewed at Arise Tv by Reuben Abati and a female host and he talks passionately about how a revolution was a must in Nigeria and promises it would be a shocker to many. As the video ends we hear reuben abati say we have seen revolutions happen in Sudan and in Algeria while Sowore answers Reuben with YES. What happened in Sudan Revolution? The Sudanese Revolution was a major shift of political power in Sudan that started with street protests throughout Sudan on 19 December 2018[25][26] and continued with sustained civil disobedience for about eight months, during which the 11 April 2019 Sudanese coup d'état deposed President Omar al-Bashir after thirty years in power, the 3 June Khartoum massacre took place under the leadership of the Transitional Military Council (TMC) that replaced al-Bashir, and in July and August 2019 the TMC and the Forces of Freedom and Change alliance (FFC) signed a Political Agreement and a Draft Constitutional Declaration legally defining a planned 39-month phase of transitional state institutions and procedures to return Sudan to a civilian democracy What happened in Algeria Revolution? Similar to the Sudan Revolution the ultimate aim was the removal of the government of the day. So we can say and see clearly that the moment Sowore agreed with Reuben Abati about the kind of revolution he wanted which is the kind that happened in Sudan and Algeria , he essentially admitted to planning and organizing a coup against the Government of the day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQ-YkWe5MRE In the second video he is seen with Idris Abdulkareem where he essentially repeated same thing he said on Arise Television and even admitted that the DSS called one of his revolutionNow reps in one of the states and asked him that they heard they want to shut down Nigeria with protests and Sowore said (with a smirk) that his Rep said that in fact by monday the DSS would have ceased to exist because the country would have experienced an unbelievable amount of sudden change. He in essence spoke in support of what this his rep said. The only way the DSS can cease to exist is if there is a change in Government and thus he admitted to plotting a coup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7L4zbXOV_qU In the third video he spoke very clearly to a group of people in a hall. He said and i quote "The revolution will recall every goddamn person from the President, Chief Justice, Governors and that everybody will be recalled at once. He in essence admitted to a ensuring he achieves a change of Government thus tantamount to plotting a coup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwRJcxw6R44 Separately he was also quoted to have said "I'm not talking of protest. I'm embarking on revolution. 85% of Nigerians are in support. Don't tell me about legal implications or what a Judge will say. I don't care. We must bundle Buhari out of that place...the DSS shall seize to exist!" Mynd44, Lalasticlala |
Very good approach by the SSS. He should say all he knows about them. Sowore appears to be an asset of western powers. Destabilizing this country is his focus |
