Politics › Re: Nigerian Senate Passes Electoral Bill by commoditiesnig(m): 11:55am On Feb 05 |
Spot on!.. truly emotional and ignorant set of people. As an IT expert I can tell you electronic transmission can be HIGHLY SUSCEPTIBLE to Hacks… our technology hasn’t reached that Topnotch level just yet for internet penetration and DATA SECURITY. Unfortunately lots of emotional and ignorant folks wouldn’t care to understand. It’s wise to have Options of Both Manual & Electronic transmissions! casualobserver: We are a nation of people whose emotions get the better of them.
What exactly was a mandatory electronic transmission of results supposed to achieve?
Does it mean any result that lands electronically is the authentic official final result? What happens if I employ some Russian, Israeli or Chinese hackers to access and alter the results enroute?
How do you prove the results were not altered?
Did I hear you say you will refer to the paper results from the PU of which every agent and the police have a copy of the original? Does it mean if I transmit an altered result it become the official result? Then what is point of making electronic results mandatory if it is not the original authentic result and authentic final authority of what occurred at polling units ? So the only result that can be relied upon is the paper result from the PU? ….Toh!
Furthermore, when you say electronic transmission is mandatory and some PUs fail to transmit due to network issues, does that mean the elections are void? The word here being “mandatory”. If the law says mandatory then it must be done. If not the election is invalid.
So if the result that lands at the server electronically can be hacked, if it is not the alpha and omega of results, if you cannot Guarantee that all PUs will have transmission capabilities, then what do you achieve by making e transmission mandatory but chaos?
You see how we allow emotions to cloud our thinking?
This is how we started with parliamentary system and regional govt and instead of us to fix ourselves we kept blaming the system, changing and changing the system of govt and now we want to go back to the regional govt we now realize was the best but it is impossible! |
Politics › Re: Senate Didn’t Reject Electronic Transmission Of Results — Akpabio by commoditiesnig(m): 11:38am On Feb 05 |
richiemcgold: In a nutshell, neither did the Senate approve electronic transmission nor reject it. INEC has the legal power to decide the final mode of transmission of result. However, what the critic are saying is that our lawmakers should have made it compulsory for INEC to always transmit result via electronic mode Exactly! |
