Obi, but just becase we need a change from the impunity og governance as a whole. But I have not heard any cogent thing Peter Obi will do on the economy. The guy just speaks high level theory, with no specifics. Having said that, Tinubu has done reasonably well on stabilizing the economy, roads, Tax reforms, Oil reforms and attracting FDI. But I think his government is rather corrupt. But Tinubu doesnt steal money in cash reckklessly like those aboki do. He uses projects to make his money. |

jessicahanlo: Lol. Nigeria is truly a cruise without seatbelt.
So crude crosses $70 and immediately it’s ₦1,000/litre here, but when crude was below $60, did fuel ever come down? Dangote refinery is here, subsidy is gone, competition was supposed to help… yet na we still dey carry am for head.
At this point, marketers don’t even wait for increase to happen again, na forecast pricing we’re doing. Salary no dey increase, transport don double, food don triple, but fuel must always adjust.
Honestly, how is the average Nigerian supposed to survive this? People are already cutting meals, now transport and everything else will skyrocket again. Government should just come out and tell us the truth: there’s no plan. Because this one no be global market issue alone, na pure local wahala.
God help Nigeria, because Nigerians are tired. 😔 The constant reductions by Dangote in the last 6 months when crude prices was reducing na wettin? |

Man is just obsessed with concrete roads like a bad workman with only a hammer in his toolkit. A poor road is a poor road, whether ashpalt or concrete. However, a well done ashphalt road is betetr than a poorl done concrete road But a well done concrete road is more durable than a well done ashphalt road The issue of wet is not a problem. Almost all of Houston is concrete roads and rain falls a lot there too. Awolowo road in Ikoyi was done by JB in 2002 or so as ahphalt and its superb and has lasted over 20 years. Likewise Broad Street, Inner Marina, Oregun road and Ojuelegba road. Likewise most of the early Abuja roads. |

Nigerianlion: This is a major milestone for our oil sector and something worth celebrating. Hitting 50 million liters daily offtake shows that distribution channels are improving and that supply is finally matching demand more consistently. If sustained, this will help stabilize prices, reduce queues at filling stations, and build confidence in the energy value chain.
Of course, the challenge now is to maintain and grow this level, not just achieve it once. We need improved infrastructure, better storage and logistics, and transparency in allocations so this doesn’t dip again like we’ve seen in the past. But for now, let’s give credit where it’s due — this is progress and a step in the right direction for consumers and investors alike. Which queues at filijg station again? Where you see queue? |

Politics › Re: Nigerian Based In Germany Compares 42% German Tax With 30% Nigerian Tax by COMPAQ(m): 4:58pm On Jan 14 |
Blunt99: You are still making same mistake that started all these back and forth.
The issue is not that we are as rich or sparsely distributed like Saudi Arabia - it is that we are uncountable for the little we are generating.
For the 1.5 Million daily barrel (even though Nigeria has the potential to produce up to 3 million barrel if not for corruption and oil theft) how much is being remitted.
$200 billion oil remittance theft probe from 2015 swept under the carpet.
Estimated daily 400k barrel lose.
Over $10 billion lose in 4 years...
and these are the ones in the public - you can then imagine the scale of the ones we don't even know.
Having said that, what are the impacts of the 'little' remitted to the government that will make citizens say...
"Ya, this is what the government has been doing to ease our life, and if we can generate more from other sources like taxes, we are confident that this government can do more".
You don't just jump into building houses in a swamp, you first fill it to standard, before starting the building.
Your government has failed in every single human indices...
Political thieves cases are dropped once they cross to the ruling party - people that loot the 'so called' little that could have make a great impact...
But no, it is because we don't pay taxes - and when we start paying taxes, we will start enjoying the dividends of good governance or we protest, amidst counter protest from your kind and political crooks waiting to steal more without consequences.
Shame on you guys... What you say about corruption, poloitical incompetence etc is correct. If Nigeria had better used its resources in last 50 years, Nigeria will be much better than it is today. But despite that, we can NEVER be like Saudi or Qatar or UAE on basis of being an oil nation. Oil nation get levels and we are far behind on a per capita basis. 1. Saudi does like 10mln barrels, we barely do 1.7mln 2. For UAE that does similar oil production to us, their population is much smaller (11mln) and they are are clusterd around just like 7 or 8 major cities. Nigeria is 230mln and clustered across 36 major State Capitals, and many other major cities that are not capitals that are even bigger than UAE cities such as Ogbomosho, Oyo, Shagamu, Ondo town, Ijebu Ode, Ijebu Igbo, Ilaro, Warri, Aba, Okigwe, Nsukka etc. Not to talk of the smaller towns that litter the length and breadth of Nigeria. 3. We assume everything in those countries are built by the government. I hope you know that development comes by public sector investment and private sector investment. If Dubai makes itself a hub for regional finance and manufacturing, if Microsoft needs an office space for 1000 staff, do you think its government that builds it for them? Private companies will build high rise office space and lease it to Microsoft. Nigerian man will go to Dubai and say see what their government are doing with their money. |

If you are a legal resident and you have a job and you are paying your taxes you are entitled to all benefits, not like Nigeria that base everything on tribalism. And about those living on the street it will shock you that majority are on the street base on self choice. Source Easy to compare with Germany. But do you know that tax they pay on petrol for those who drive, to be able to afford cheap public transportation? Tax on petrol in Germany is $0.76 per litre (N1,100), in addition to which they pay 19% VAT. So just tax on petrol is more than the total petrol we pay of about N800. A litre of petrol in Germany is about N2900. So tax on petrol is circa 38% of the cost. In Nigeria we have zero tax on petrol and 7.5% VAT. But the guy didn't say that one!! |

drstranged: I’m currently in the South East, and normally by late November we would have started feeling harmattan — cooler weather, dry air, dusty breeze, at least some signs.
But now, just a day to Christmas, everywhere is still hot. No harmattan breeze, no dryness, no dusty mornings. It honestly feels more like February or March than December.
This feels very unusual to me. In all my years on earth, I can’t remember a December like this.
Is anyone else experiencing the same thing in their area? Could this be climate change, or is this just one of those rare weather shifts?
Let’s hear your observations. Its the same everywhere. This may be the first Christmas in all my years in Lagos without that Harmattan haze, which makes Chrstmas feel Christmassy!! But the raisn started late in 2025 and ended late as well. Rain was still falling well into December. The hot weather which started like 2 weeks ago, normally starts in early November, so that means the Harmattan will likley come sometime in January. There was some Hurricane activity in Gulf of Mexico like 2 months ago, that might have shifted weather patterns. |

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have recovered firearms, suspected stolen cash and other incriminating items after a vehicle conveying suspected armed criminals was involved in an accident while being chased by security operatives in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of the state.
The recovery, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, followed an offensive security operation carried out by operatives attached to the Commissioner of Police Special Patrol at about 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16.
According to him, the suspects, while attempting to evade arrest, abandoned their operational vehicle after it crashed during a hot pursuit by the patrol team.
He revealed that items recovered from the abandoned vehicle include one pump-action rifle, one locally fabricated single-barrelled rifle, an ash-coloured Toyota Highlander with registration number UWN 680 PE, suspected stolen cash amounting to six hundred and thirty-six thousand, seven hundred naira (₦636,700), as well as other incriminating materials.
The PPRO further disclosed that the suspects fled the scene immediately after the accident, prompting an intensive manhunt. He also confirmed that intelligence-led operations have since been stepped up to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
“The Anambra State Police Command reassures the Ndi Anambra of its commitment to proactive policing, maintaining law and order, and safeguarding lives and property in the state,” he concluded. With that plate number, I hope the security operatives will be able to track them down. However, if the vehicle was stolen for the operation, i hope the original owner reported it stolen. |
