How many graduates does the north have compared to the south first of all. And I mean quality graduates o! Not the ones that are just pushed through school for the sake of graduating.

Let KPMG do a proper aptitute test of 1000 students from each geopolitical zone. I can bet you graduates from North East and North West that would pass wont be more than 10%. Go to ICAN and get a list of all of their Chartered Accountants and lets see how many are from the North. But when it comes to government appointments you want equal footing.

Thats the critical question. But Dangote has consistently said he can meet local demand. And truthfully is a 650kpd refinery is firing on all cylinders, then it should be able to meet our demnd easily, especially now that demand has gone down due to less cars on the roads due to the high cost of petrol.

Any account linked to Nigeria via phone number, location etc must have the users NIN as part of his or her profile information (though not visible to the public).

So after that, let anyone who comes to post on social media do so with his full chest. No one is saying you shouldn't criticise. But criticise is different from insult.

No one is saying you shouldn't agitate for your community, clan or tribe, but that is not the same as propagating tribal hate.

Anonymity should be no excuse to come and circulate absolute falsehood.

This new investment is a birth of the PIA initiated by President Muhammed Buhari.

The credit goes to late PMB and not PBAT.

The unbundling of roles, responsibilities and tasks of the Upstream (Exploration), Midstream (Refining) and Downstream (Distribution) has made investments more attractive in the Upstream sector.

Shell had announced this investment since last year with a total of $5B but has just concluded the first tranche of the $2B. This investment has been captured as an FDI inflow since last year.

Them go whine you (Propagandist) but please no panic.
what Shell announced for $5bln last year was for Bonga North, This is HI. Two different projects.

Foreign AffairsRe: Reason Why Trees In South Africa Have Suddenly Turned Purple - PICTURES by COMPAQ(m): 4:26am On Oct 05, 2025
RandDigital:
The jacarandas are out, and honestly, it’s one of the highlights for anyone who drives the cities’ canopied streets. They add a touch of magic here that can’t be found anywhere else in SA, or at least not in the numbers that we have them in Gauteng province.

But do you know the story behind these blooming jacarandas? They’re actually not indigenous to South Africa.

They came from Brazil more than 100 years ago, Durban got the first ones in the early 1800s, and Pretoria followed in the 1880s. Two of the oldest trees still stand in Sunnyside (Pretoria) today.

When the Union Buildings (President's office, see last picture) were being built in the early 1900s, the city was also modernising its infrastructure. Old trees had to be removed to make way for new sewerage systems. Instead of leaving streets bare, the Pretoria Council handed out jacaranda saplings for free to residents. People planted them in their gardens and along pavements, and before long, entire streets bursted with purple.

That’s how Pretoria earned its nickname, Jacaranda City (picture 3)

Today there are about 65,000 mature jacaranda trees across the city. They all flower at once on bare branches, which is why the bloom always seems to come out of nowhere like a surprise. And while we might think of them as Pretoria’s pride, Johannesburg actually has even more (picture 2)

There are even rare white-flowering jacarandas near Jan Cilliers Park and Wonderboom if you know where to look.

The University of Pretoria (UP) alone is home to over 200 trees, some of which were transplanted during the Bus Rapid Transit project and are still thriving.

Jason Sampson, who heads the botanical gardens at UP, says jacarandas are some of the toughest.

Pests aren’t really partial to them, and so they’ve stood the test of time as an invasive species. They’re actually one of the few invasive species given an exclusion clause, meaning they can still be planted in urban areas. That’s why they’ve remained such an iconic part of Pretoria.
We should bring them to Lagos to add a bit of colour to Lagos. The city is just so drab and lacking in colour.

BlackViper:
The problem of incompetence in tax collection is already raring its head again.

We have been told that the new tax regime will go into effect on the 1st of January 2026 and before then, everyone will be expected to already have a Tax Identification Number (TIN), but even as of now approaching the end of September, there is no single registration centre anywhere where one can get a T.I.N.

Are they now going to introduce registration centres at the 11th hour so people will be queueing for their T.I.N during the Christmas break because they want to beat the deadline of 1st January 2026?

To add insult to injury, they will still penalise you if you fail to acquire a T.I.N before the deadline.

Nigerians are watching and waiting.
Na you no Sabi. Go the the website of the Joint Tax Board, find the link to generating TIN, input your BVN or NIN and you get a TIN automatically.

Besides they say your NIN is also your TIN so what are you on about?

We need a proper strategy to recover large farm settlements from terrorists, return people to the farms, provide constant survillance and security and assist with mechanization for land preparation, irrigation, logistics etc

The same way he transformed rivers that multinationals are now abandoning Lagos for rivers. To exhibit his tunnel vision approach to social and infrastructural development, he abandoned the monorail project in PH because of sentimentality. Presently, resident doctors are on a warning strike in the fct. The NUT strike is yet to be fully resolved. Abuja residents won't have to cut off asphalted roads to treat the sick or teach kids that have been off school for months.
The monorail made little sense. PH is a relatively poor city asides from the few oil workers and contractors there. And its also a relatively small city. Fix the roads and put proper traffic management/traffic lights in the required places and you can get from one side of PH to the other in 30 minutes.

I repeat the problem for Nigerians isn't paying Taxes but paying taxes only for it to be mismaged and looted by corrupt politicians who don't think they owe the citizens any accountability will be diabolical and create new consequences of shocking proportions.

Nigerians cannot pay taxes and INEC who is paid from our taxes riggs elections against same taxes paying Nigerians to favour criminal politicians.

Local government councils can't take tax payers monies and go on shopping sprees and buying houses for girlfriends.

There has to be a equivalent responsibility and consequences of mismanagement of taxes by government to taxpayers.
We heard something similar with electricity " Govt should just give us 24/7 light, we are willing to pay". Now that there is band A and folks are getting 22+ hours a day at the cost reflective tariff, folks are complaining day and night.

We heard something similar during the height of fuel scarcity and queues. "petrol should just be available, we are willing to pay the proper price for it". Now we have a huge refinery and unsubsidised petrol and folks are complaining day and night!

Moral of the story, never believe those "nigerians have no problem paying tax" type of comments.

I agree with you on No 1 above. I think we needs Mercenaries not as active combatants, but to help with the technology and drone aspects.

Left to me, If I were the CinC i'd create 10 squads of Special forces, with each squad having like 30 to 40 people. These people will be sent to Isreal for intense counter terrorism training for 6months to 1 year. By the time they are done, they will be the types of special forces that can stay in the hinterland for 2months on end. The type that don't shoot except they are hitting the target. Though they will be supported with supplies (new bullets, water, medicine, weapons, food etc by chopper from the air. Each soldier will ingest micro tracking devices so that we know where they are at all times, even if captured. However, they will be cordinated by a top secret control room, so that their opeartions and location are never known to regular millitary staff, so that they are not sold out by others who are loyal to terrorists within the millitary.

each squad of 40 will have a medical officer, 2 snipers that can kill from 2km away, a mini drone operator with thermal imaging so that they can keep tabs of their surrounding area up to 5-10km away in all directions.

Then multiple squads in the same state will be supported by a fully equiped drone in the air 24/7, armed with laser guided and gps guided precsion bombs and rockets that can be called in by gound forces with an arrival time of not more than 30minutes.

Every member of a squad will have an insurance policy. Loss of life guarantees N15mln to your spouse paid N5mln per year and educaional support for kids born at the time of death till end of university education.

For permanent disability of any squad member, all medical bills are taken care off inclusive of any rehabilitation therapy. The same N15mln is paid in tranches of N5mln per year and lifelong pension.

I doubt you truly live in a developed country if you are not aware that UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahamas, Singapore, Malta, Switzerland, etc are all tax-free countries that don't tax citizens and residents income tax.

Even in America, the below states are tax free:

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Wyoming do not levy income taxes. Washington does not tax income but does tax capital gains of certain high earners.

States with no income tax may still charge other taxes, such as sales and property taxes.

Nigeria is an oil producing country with many other natural resources that the government have been exploring and wasting without accountability to the citizens. Despite our huge crude oil resources, we are still struggling to provide the most basic necessities like national security, healthcare and water supply.

Now tell me how forcing Nigerians to pay huge tax will make any difference?

Imagine you have been earning fat salary as a worker and you have been wasting it on drinking, clubbing, call girls and gambling and your company decides that promoting you with another increase in salary will make you more financially responsible, how is that possible? It will only make you engage in more financial wastes like increase in the amount you use to gamble with before, increase in the amount of alcohol you consumed previously and increase in the number and class of call girls you engaged with in the past, it's as simple as that.

Widening and tightening the tax net and enforcing strict compliance is not what Nigeria need now to come out of the woods that Tinubu pushed Nigerians into, unless you lack common sense and wisdom.

This Tax master ought to be forced out of Aso Rock before he wrecks Nigeria beyond repair honestly
Bear in mind that those tax free US states you listed are only tax free for STATE taxes!! You will still pay FEDERAL taxes on your income.

And most of those states compensate for zero STATE taxes by having higher PROPERTY TAXES.

If you think govt gives you anything free anywhere, think again! You just don't know who is paying for it, but someone is.

Temi and Mr Eazi's wedding was classier yes, but that's mainly because it conformed more to European wedding standards driven by their culture.

Davido and Chioma's wedding was more confiormed to Yoruba wedding culture which is much more loud and brash.

LOL

The truth is, NIgerians do not want to pay what needs to be paid to get light 24/7.

Nigerians want cheap power. Or free power. They will now quote me and tell me that discos are not giving value for money...when 20% of disco customers are band A , and are thus paying cost reflective tarrifs...the rest are subsidised. Yes, 1trillion naira profit was made...when experts say we need 10 trillion naira yearly to fix power. 1 trillion cannot cover what 10 trillion can cover...no matter how much we pretend it can, or how many times we shout 'corruption'. To think that way is basically engaging in magical thinking.

GEJ knew...which is why he left subsides, because if he did the right thing and told Nigerians the cold hard truth that power was expensive, and they have to pay cost reflective tarrifs back in 2013, they would have rioted. Buhari same thing. Tinubu...wanted to also carry on the pretence, but funding forced him to at least bring in band A

Forget party, forget agbado, forget all that crap. If you like, call me tinubu supporter, taxman, insensitive, evil, etc. But until we accept that we have to pay cost reflective tarrif for power, just as we accepted we would for gsm, and see what happened there....we are never going to have the investment, funding, and so on needed to get light 24/7.

Like I said, I also think tinubu must go in 2027. I never have ever voted for the man in my life. He is just as bad as buhari. But the power situation is not about who is in office, it is about what we are ready to pay into it....and what measures we put in place to enable investors make a profit too...and see return on investment. Subsides and cheap power don't help. That is what I learned when I was trying to understand why GEJ was trying to privatise power in 2013. And why I hold the views I hold today.

We can face facts, or lie to ourselves.
Don't mind them!

I thought Nigerians used to make noise that Govt should give them 24/7 light and they are willing to pay for it. Oya now, band A is almost 24/7 so why are people now making noise.

First of all the statement below that power sector has worsened is a big fat lie. I'm 49 and this is the electricity of the last few months is the best I've ever had in this country.

"It could be recalled that since the introduction of Band A, B, C and D by NERC as electricity tariffs for Nigerians, the situation in the country’s power sector has worsened more and escalated, especially on the Band A, with public outcry mostly from the private sector group, civil society organisations, manufacturing sector and Nigerians on the high energy cost payment that has seen conglomerate companies and some apartments paying hefty amount for electricity consumption as high as 250 per cent per month and then eroding on people’s purchasing power and profitability."

Also I don't even think NASS has the power to cancel it. Authority for tarrifs is belongs to NERC, not NASS. And I struggle with what is unconstitutional about it. The band B to E is a subsidy to poorer people. if they dont want then all of us should kuku be on Band A and pay the apprpriate price.
