NYSCRe: Help Please! Advice For Expatriate Going For Nysc by concrete(op): 9:24pm On Jun 08, 2009
na wa o! i didn't mean any harm by using that word. u guys are harsh LOL cry i've never denied my nigerian heritage or tried to act superior to anyone at all. i was just going by wat some of my relatives here and back home told me (that technically, if i wanted to work in nigeria, i could do so under that status).

anyway, as i said, i was born in uk and raised in canada. i have dual citizenship (uk/canada). my dad is uk born and had dual citizenship (uk/nigeria) and my mom was born in nigeria but also has dual citizenship (canada/nigeria). if that clears it up for those of you debating the terminology used undecided

for those who are curious, i've decided to look into serving next feb/march, that way i can be better prepared. since i'll be travelling shortly to do some charity work in lagos, i've made arrangements to go abuja to confirm wat info i need to bring when i serve. and yes, i'll be serving the full three weeks in camp (like the rest of you guys)

jeez people! take it easy. i don't kno y some of u got so defensive undecided

thanks for those who helped/answered my questions tongue

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what KickoffNigeria is reporting:

Shock!!!

Word coming out of the Super Eagles camp is that Shuaibu Amodu has dropped all the big boys, except Kanu from the team.
And when I say the team, I dont mean the starting line-up. I mean they are NOT EVEN LISTED ON THE BENCH.
Only Kanu and Shittu are on the bench.

I hear the line up is:
Enyeama, Yusuf Mohammed, Echiejile, Sodje, Adeleye, Etuhu, Olofinjana, Kalu Uche, Odemwingie, Ike Uche, Eneramo.
Now, that should be interesting

shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked
TravelRe: Canadian: Prospects For Foreigner by concrete: 7:48pm On Jun 06, 2009
just wanna say thanks to belingo for all that info

i want my boo and his brother to relocate to canada. my baby's alraedy educated with a good job in abuja, while his bro has another year or so to go for his degree (he's in the UK) so i'm thinking they can both maybe come to canada on skilled labour or to the postgrad options (student visa) then apply for work permit

your posts were very helpful; will tell them about it kiss

bawomolo:
olofinjana has no place in the super eagles.

is it me or did the french commentators just laugh at our team lineup.

i dey vex o
not really

they laughed at the fact taht taiwo isn't here though he knows st etienne (basically implying that he should be there) and added that though nigeria is missing quite a few key players, our younger players are dangerous/have potential

PoliticsRe: What Have U Done Personally For Nigeria ? by concrete: 6:48pm On Jun 01, 2009
my friend and I are flying down [from Canada] to Nigeria for charity work organized by her parish. We're just tying up loose ends to go to work in Lagos. She's going this week (June 6) and I'll be going on the 12th. I can't wait. Not sure the name yet, but we're going to an orphanage to donate money and spend time with the kiddies cheesy
We'll also be touching base with some schools there as well. Though my trip to UK/9ja was only suppose to be a vacation (I've got a wedding to attend on the 27th), I've gladly cancelled some plans (outings with friends/visits to family members) to do this

Not much but it's a start and i can't wait!! kiss

@ Andy, would you be able to confirm the info I inquired about above (if they want to keep your certificates or if they only expect to see them)?
NYSCRe: How Do I Apply For My Nysc From Abroad by concrete: 6:54pm On May 25, 2009
@babwilms:

can you please let me know if they would expect to KEEP this information, or do they just need to see it before letting you sign uphuh in other words, would one be allowed to walk out of there with their original copies or should we expect for them to want to keep them for their records?

i ask b/c my high school has already refused to provide copies of my certificates/records and i only have one set of originals that i would like to retain

thanks in advance to you or anyone who can confirm this smiley
SportsFifa: Nigeria Not Ready To Host U-17 World Cup by concrete(op): 1:34am On May 22, 2009
embarassed cry angry angry

not that i'm surprised but i thought you would all be interested,

Fifa Vice-President Jack Warner has delivered a damning verdict on all but two venues proposed to host this year's FIFA Under-17 World Cup, saying they are not ready.

Warner, who led a team of inspectors on a one-week tour of facilities, told a press conference that Nigeria had a one-month deadline to get the facilities ready for the competition or risk losing the hosting rights.

"Only Lagos and Abuja are ready to host the competition now," Warner stated. "Countries hosting FIFA events are expected to be ready at least one year before the start of the competition, like South Africa and Egypt.

"The media will have to push the government and organisers to get facilities ready.

"If we come back in 30 days time, that is an indication that Nigeria will have to lose it, and another country has been standing by for the past nine months and it will be a dent on Nigeria's image if you lose the hosting rights."

Warner did leave a ray of hope for the likes of Calabar, Ijebu-Ode, Kano and Enugu but totally ruled out Warri, saying security reports precluded the city from hosting the event.
