Ghana can teach Nigeria quite a few lessons on civilized living.

1. Electrical power outages hardly if ever occur in Ghana, while in Nigeria, electricity only exists today as the abstract subject of wistful nostalgia by grey-haired old-timers, who refer to the good old days of yore when electrical power came via overhead transmission lines, and not from smoky, roaring portable generators in the back yard.

2. Crime is so low in Ghana that it is perfectly safe to travel the highways or walk city streets at ANY hour of the day or night, whereas in Nigeria , road travel at night carries a 90% risk of armed ambush.

3. Vehicles plying the roads in Ghana look as new and roadworthy as those on UK roads, thanks to rigidly enforced car registration laws, in contrast to Nigeria where any moving object with turning wheels is deemed street-legal, just as long as the requisite bribes are paid to the men in uniforms.

4. Corrupt government officials are prosecuted and jailed in Ghana after being forced to cough up the loot, but in Nigeria, public officials who do NOT steal from the state treasury are regarded as eccentrics to be ridiculed and reviled for the rest of their natural lives, while successful embezzlers become the toast of the town, provided they are generous in spreading the loot about as they go.

5. Ghanaians, along with citizens of other CIVILIZED nations of the world will peacefully form neat, orderly lines in bus terminals, train stations and airports, as opposed to Nigerians who will cram up into each other crotch to butt-crack while screaming curses at line-jumpers, even as they scan for openings to jump the line themselves.

she is definate big by pageant standards but she is actually fit.

she was runner-up just yesterday in the miss world sports competition (i don't believe a black girl has ever won this event, it's usually the europeans or american that win it). she had to do activities that included a 50 meter sprint, cricket match, soccer/football and building a raft

ribadu script directed the impeachment and immediate arrest of alamasiya in a movie manner made jonathan the gov and later vice president.
every nigerian knows that the then orji uzor kalu of abia state was an open oposition of obj hence he became the problem and the chief target of efcc. the present gov of abia state was arrested to avoid him contesting for the post in abia. atiku's matter was implicating obj but efcc was out to stop atiku and nothing more.
all the obj boys had financial matters but non was treated by ribadu eg: an established case of money laundary was confirmed against andy uba via the presidential jet yet nothing happened. we all know about the nigerian ports authority and bode george, tony annenih and the lagos-benin express ways. we were mearnt to understand how was spent within obj's eight years in power on roads and power supply without anyone answering questions on them.
my own question here is, what didn't ribadu do? he did everything possible to face the same problems with mustapha who played the same role during the abacha's days.
ribadu shld come out and tell nigerians how far he went in his fight against corruption in nigeria

nice to hear the other side of the story. i'm sure there's a little truth on both sides (Ribadu HAS gone after a few big men from OBJ's crew)

Congrats on her also making top 2 (1st runnre up) in the sports competition (I'm shocked and impressed, I must say). Had she won, she would have automatically qualified for the final (top 15)

Thought some of you guys would like to see what she's up to/looking like. I'm honestly not that impressed, she's gained a lot of weight. I never thought she should have won in the first place, to be honest.

Hello my fellow nairalanders

I was born and raised outside of Nigeria and have recently completed an Honours B.A. Degree in Political Science from a good Univeristy in Canada. I am looking to get into politics in Nigeria ( I have quite a bit of family connections) but I am told to first obtain my Master's degree and to get my feet wet within the country first. Some are suggesting I do so in Nigeria, as to become increasingly acclamated to the country, and its politics.

I was curious as to what some of your thoughts were on this. It WOULD in fact be a cheaper option for me for the time being (I'm basically broke) as getting one in Nigeria is FAR less inexpensive than getting a Master's here. I would also have to serve (NYSC) shortly thereafter and I'm thinking this might also aid in facilitating that process

What schools, if any, do you guys recommend in Nigeria? I'm looking for unbiased opinions as my family would love nothing more for me to FINALLY show some interest in my home country (I haven't had any whatsoever until last year)

Lola Omotayo has confirmed that she is indeed pregnant for Peter Okoye of Psquare, one of Nigeria's most popular hip hop group.

She confirmed the pregnancy story in an interview published in this week's edition of Encomium, a leading soft sell magazine in Nigeria.Peter also confirmed the gist too.He, however, said he is not ready for marriage yet.
