Sunday, 26 February 2017 Disturbing video: Mechanics manhandle pickpockets at Idemili, Anambra
Three suspected pickpockets were beaten mercilessly by an angry crowd in front of a car technician (aka mechanic) workshop at Ugah Road, Idemili Anambra State earlier this week.
The incident was recorded on camera by blog reader Uchenna Muoghalu.
He wrote: "The robber (on red t-shirt and necklace) was caught for a phone he stole at that place last week. He pointed two other accomplices. "One of them was stabbed in the head and fainted immediately while broken bottles and stones were freely used on the second accused who is a northerner." Disturbing video:
Saturday, 18 February 2017 Another physically challenged rocks military outfit at same place as first Army brutality victim
Last week, the internet was agog with appalling videos of a crippled man being flogged and dehumanized by Military Police soldiers (see here).
When the incident finally got the attention of authorities, the rampaging soldiers were brought to book by the Nigerian Army and were sentenced to 21 days jail time with hard labour while their victim was dazzled with love by sympathizers from all corners of the country in the form of money, clothing food items and etc.
This evening, a Somtoo Okoye blog reader spotted another physically challenged man at the same location where the first victim was seen, this time, the second man was wearing military shirt and laced his wheelchair with assorted Biafran flags.
Read what the dearie, Johnson, sent me:
"Somtoo, I saw this popular less-privileged ma at New Market Road, Onitsha. He is wearing army colors now. He used to put Biafra color with him but this is the first time I'm seeing him with Army color. Maybe its because of the other man that was given 500k by Ebonyi State governor."
No matter how hard our London-based vegetable makes country hard for Nigerians, I advise folks not to do illegal stuff; although they are still better than these ones below:
lalasticlala, when Igbo people talk about Biafra, you all scream One Nigeria and ban their posts here on NL. When they want the Nigerian govt to give them dividends of paying tax, no one talks about that.
God will judge you if you don't push this thread to where it belongs.

Monday, 13 February 2017 Video, pictures: Despite FG claims, 2nd Niger Bridge remains abandoned since March 2015
Weeks after headlines such as "At last, work begins on 2nd Niger Bridge" went viral on Nigerian media, Somtoo Okoye blog can authoritatively report that bare for the farmers cultivating vegetables on the bank on the River Nigeria, no construction work whatsoever is currently going at the site of the controversial project in Southern region of Nigeria.
Our correspondent who visited the Asaba, Delta State and Onitsha (Ogbeukwu), Anambra State ends of the bridge today was able to witness firsthand, the visibly stalled progress, rusting away of materials at the 2nd Niger Bridge whose construction began in 2014.
Although he was banned from taking pictures by few security men on the site who were found taking their siesta on arrival, our reporter somehow managed to get several clear shots of the location.
Handled by Julius Berger, the Federal Government had in January 2017 claimed it awarded a N14.1bn contract for the construction of the bridge, however, residents of the area say the last time they witnessed construction work was sometime in March 2015.
According to Arinze, a commercial bike rider who lives with his family in one of the shanties close to the Asaba end of the bridge,
"They told us that government will begin work since 2016 but I've not seen anything going on."
Another resident who spoke in anonymity added in pidgin English, "This new bridge will solve the issue of traffic gridlock on the Niger Bridge when completed.
"The people who travel to and fro the Southeast find themselves in traffic gridlock problems whenever they arrive this bridge (first Niger Bridge) from their destinations.
"Also, you know Onitsha City is already full and people are coming to live in Asaba while they do business and work in Onitsha.
"You can hardly pass this bridge after 5PM in the evening when work closes and sometimes 7AM in the morning."
When questioned, the only security man found at the Asaba end of bridge told our correspondent to "go and get paper from Julius Berger office in Onitsha" in order to be permitted to take pictures on the site.
