MXrap: Then the governors of those useless states should be be chased away because they have failed by not doing anything to develop their states. Restructuring will not make any difference if those governors are incompetent. That means 90% of the governors will be chased out cos only few states have the enabling environment to create wealth within a shirt period of time as a result of all ready laid down infrastructure or federal presence eg Lagos, rivers, kano,Kaduna, delta, akwa ibom, bayelsa,e.tcwhile some are indigenous efforts eg anambara,abia,Enugu,..while some by virture of proximity eg Ogun,Oyo,etc. The rest outside this category are what I called unfortunate States, unfortunate not that they are poor or lack the resources but,the system has kept them perpetually down and unless we restructure, notting meaningful will come out of the states...Do you know that nasarawa state has the capacity to be richer than any southern states if there potentials are fully harnessed? |

KEVIND: Benue state youths have taken a reprisal attack on Hausa/Muslims, killing not less than 25 of them and set ablaze two mosques in the state. According to BBC report, this follows after the killing of 17 Christian worshippers on Tuesday. BBC also reported that the mob barricaded roads, identified Hausa or Muslim commuters and killed them. The leader of Izala Movement in the state, Sheikh Shuaibu, told the BBC that he counted bodies of 27 Muslims killed by the attackers at the teaching hospital. He said a lot of Muslims have been killed, just as two mosques were razed down. Benue State Police Command is yet to speak on the incident. Suspected herdsmen had in the early hours of Tuesday stormed St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Ukpor-Mbalom Parish, Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State, and killed two Catholic priests and 17 parishioners. The Church attack came barely four days after the murder of 10 persons by the suspected herdsmen in neighbouring Guma Local Government Area.

Gr8tasign: What does Rev. Father Moses Laripuu, the Director of Communications, Catholic Diocese of Makurdi want the Igbo to do?
- By Okey Igbokwe
In October 2016, a group under the aegis of Conference of Minority Tribes of Nigeria (CMTN) led by one Comrade Samson Ayodele Balola issued a press statement threatening to take the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB to the ICC for allegedly masterminding the killing of Fulani herdsmen in Abia state and further called for a ban on the group which has been threatening the existence of Minority Tribes in Nigeria and the peaceful existence of the country. It turned out later that the claim of the killing of Fulani herdsmen in Abia state was false, not to talk of being carried out by the IPOB.
Later in 2017, a group, Advocates for Social Justice for All (ASJA) staged a protest at the British embassy calling for the extradition of Nnamdi Kanu and ban on IPOB for threatening the peaceful existence of Nigeria.
Various groups from the middle belt started springing up demanding secession in response to the IPOB call for freedom of the Indigenous peoples from the grip of the Fulani if IPOB is not banned.
Finally IPOB was proscribed as a terrorist group and Nnamdi Kanu and his family chased under ground.
IPOB and Kanu merely called for a democratic process where the indigenous people can legally express themselves via referendum vote to decide how they can exist as one in Nigeria or exit. They did not call for war. They did not invade any tribe and tried to coerce them with force.
Fulani herdsmen has upped their game of killing and massacre of the indigenous people of the middle belt since Muhammadu Buhari who is their grand patron came to power with full state support and protection.
We now expect the reaction from Comrade Samson Ayodele's CMTN, ASJA or secessionist groups from the middle belt calling for a collective action against the murderous Fulani herdsmen, but they are nowhere to be found.
Father Moses Laripuu, in his statement on the killing of Catholic Church worshipers including two priests in Makurdi had lamented that the East (Igbo) is showing no sympathy in the ongoing killings by the Fulani herdsmen in Benue state.
The Igbo led IPOB was roundly condemned by all ethnic groups in Nigeria for threatening to break it up and cause war simply for asking for referendum. All the ethnic nationalities currently under the siege of Fulani imperialism should have used the window of opportunity provided by the IPOB to make their voices known and emphasize their right for freedom, but it seems the only thing that unite Nigerian minority tribes the most is when it is a case involving the Igbo. Ndi Igbo can not carry arm to go and defend Benue people. Doing so will attract them another unified gang up and massacre that occurred in 1966. Some will tag it that the Igbo want to take over the middle belt and conquer them. Senator Joseph waku had claimed the reason IPOB included Benue state in their struggle was that the Igbo do not have enough land space to accommodate their Biafra and may face subsequent hunger when they go, that's why they want to take over the state.
Dear, Father Moses Laripuu, the Igbo is not aloof. We have the greatest sympathy for your plight. But the problem is that the Igbo is incapable of doing what you ask them to do. We would have done our best if we had the means. The Igbo is not in control of the security forces of Nigeria. They are not the head of the federal government. Involving them in the ongoing crises in Benue would be to aggravate their own plight. They are yet to recover from the brutal massacre they suffered in the hands of fellow Nigerians in 1966. It'd be pertinent if you call on the umbrella groups that sprang up from the middle belt to oppose IPOB agitation to add their voices with the energy they did to IPOB to help in attracting the attention of the international community on what is going on in the region. Let them also march to the British high commission and other world embassies to protest the killings.
Ndi Igbo, East are not also safe from the Fulani marauders. Who knows when they are through with Benue, their next target may not be the East?
Rather than blame the Igbo and accuse them of showing no sympathy, blame the international community, CMTN, AsJA and RONDEL groups for keeping quiet. The gospel truth. |

BornAgainMay: Catholic Priest Shocked As Soldiers Storm His Church In Search Of Weapons --------------------- According to a Reverend father/Bishop Vesuwe Benjamin who works at Catholic Diocese of Gboko,Benue state, his house and church were ransacked by Nigerian military in search of weapons.Below is what he wrote.... 'Today my house and the entire parish was turned inside out by the military in-search for weapons. They say I keep weapons, for heaven sake, I don't do weapon. The Fulani herdsmen go about with heavy weapons killing innocent people and never a day has any one of them been harassed by the military.
There are instances where the military have even assisted them to carry out their attacks on Defenseless citizens. The soldiers we have in this country are one sided. Why are they trying to divide the very country they are called to defend on religious line. Would they have done this to an imam or the mosque?' everyday it becomes very obvious who the real enemies of Nigeria are and our people are too afraid to speak up..Everyday this people keeps on justifying kanus Biafra movement and yet our people are to afraid to point a finger to the aggressor but will pour out unwarranted viterporations on a fellow oppressed whose only sin was asking for his right of self determination in the face of glairing impunity,e.t.c. |

Prince Tony Momoh, a former Minister of Information on Monday said President Muhammadu Buhari owes no one any apology for saying a lot of Nigerian youths are sitting at home doing nothing.
Speaking in a chat with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Momoh, a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council, University of Jos (UNIJOS) said those asking the president to apologise over the remarks made at the Commonwealth Business Forum are being unfair and playing politics with the issue.
While saying the president never described Nigerian youths as lazy, Momoh said President Buhari is never afraid of speaking the truth unlike other professional politicians who only say things they want the people to hear.
He said the current reality in Nigeria is that many youths are staying at home doing nothing due to lack of opportunities and that is the point President Buhari was making in his remarks at the forum.
“That the President should apologise. Apologise for what? Are many Nigerian youths not staying at home doing nothing? Why should he apologise for saying the truth? Is it not true that many of our youths are sitting at home doing anything because of lack of opportunities?”
“If he is going to apologise, it will be because the government is trying to create opportunities for youths. To apologise for saying a lot of Nigerian youths are staying at home is unnecessary”.
“The population of Nigerian youths that are jobless, is it high or low? If it is high, then one can rightly say that most of them don’t work. The fact is President Buhari is a very highly focused man. He says what is on his mind and is never afraid of doing so”.
“If you want to analyse the issue, you will discover that he is just speaking his mind unlike the professional politicians who are used to lying. Having discovered that many Nigerian youths stay at home and have no work to do, it is his responsibility to create avenue for them to work”.
“If Shell is going to invest $15b or more in Nigeria, is it not a way of creating avenues for the youths who stay at home doing nothing? A lot of Nigerians are focusing on unimportant things, playing politics with important issues by distorting what the president said”.
“If I were to look at the issue, I will focus on the fact that Shell is going to invest $15b in Nigeria and create avenues for unemployed youths to work. He never used the word lazy in describing Nigerian youths, it is mischief makers who twisted his words and claim he described youths as lazy but the fact is that youths” he said.

mmb: President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Nigeria from London, where he attended the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
The President took off from London just after midday on Saturday and arrived at Abuja moments ago.
President Buhari had travelled to London on April 9 shortly after declaring his intention to seek re-election at the All Progressives Congress’ National Executive Council Meeting.
While attending CHOGM, the President called for more investment in Nigeria, pointing out that encouraging trade and investment are the surest way of getting millions out of poverty.
He also called on Commonwealth heads of state to avoid trade warns, warning that it would hurt development efforts.
The President, however, courted controversy during the event when he said, “More than 60 percent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free.”
The comments elicited furious reactions from many Nigerians and sparked a debate with some defending the President and others criticising him.
Amid the controversy and negative reactions from opposition politicians and parties, the Presidency issued a statement clarifying the comments.
In the days before CHOGM, the President met and held talks with British Prime Minister Theresa May and the Arch Bishop of Canterbury, The Most Reverend Justin Welby, separately.
With The Most Reverend Welby, on April 11, President Buhari discussed the herdsmen-farmers crisis, Nigeria’s security challenges explaining that the conflict was older than both of them.
He also said the situation was made was by the influx of gunmen, who were trained and by Muammar Gadaffi, from the Sahel region into different parts of the West African-sub region.
Five days later, the told British PM May that while are preoccupied with the forthcoming general elections, he is more concerned about the security of the people and the growth of the Nigerian economy.
