After traveling to the remote village to sign my PPA then to state secterate for the focal person signature, only to open my dashboard to upload my PPA, deployment tab has disappeared, and a message popin out to take the nation test. My status has also changed from beneficiary to applicant and it's refering me to as stream 1. Please which kind wahala be this and how do I go about all these?

Please how were you able to rectify this abeg... I'm experiencing the same challenge.

Please my enquiry is on F1 visas. I've tried to go through the thread and I'm somehow stumbling on only B1 visas an the likes.

I got my i-20 from my school last week. What's the next step please.? Also saw something about the SEVIS fee or so. Please I'd appreciate a detailed guidance, preferably from someone who recently traveled for studies.

My admission came with an 80% funding scholarship. I also have a cousin (a priest), who lives 7mins away from the school, and who's going to be my sponsor on living expenses and the other 20% tuition. I'd be staying with him, and he has already identified with the school. I have a great paying job and an investment as well. Though I have never traveled before. What are my chances of getting the visa as quickly as possible please?

NB: My program starts on September 6th 2022.

To add a few points to UmmZayd's response:

From the little experience and knowledge I have of these US VO, you may likely be asked: 1. How you intend to finance the deficit, i.e. that's the 20%, 2. Your relationship with your sponsor and what he does for a living 3. Your plans after your studies.

If you are asked if you have ever travelled before, you can give an excellent response to your advantage. An instance could be that you never had a reason to as you have been so busy with your job due to your critical responsibilities at work as your services are always required, giving you very little time for leisure.

The VO may ask what you do at work, which would be an opportunity to elaborate on your day-to-day task and the value this adds to the company that's your KRA.

I am also inclined to think you may need to set aside some of your savings as part of your living expenses since you are working and the VO would expect you are earning salary but the US Student visa thread gurus would know better.

You can get more robust clues from General US Student Visa enquires part 17, as UmmZayd advised.

Please I just finished taking the test, and noticed that on my dashboard, my passport is actually my nysc discharge certificate. Though I uploaded my passport when updating my profile. I have refreshed and refreshed, logged out and logged in again yet it's still there. I tried to change it but I can't find any option for that.

So guys, what do you advice? Do I just leave it like that? If not, what can I do to remedy it?

I'd appreciate it if I can get it too... And if you get it, kindly share...

So I'm back to thank the brains behind this DIY method for all the heads up and the assistance throughout my application process.

So I applied and paid for my passport online (26k) on the 1st of Feb and went to the NIS office on the 3rd cos I had to fill and stamp the guarantor's form before going there (spent a total of 1k, 5h to print the forms and buy file and all, and 5h for court stamp). I submitted my form on the 3rd, and my interview/capturing date was on the 10th (You guys remember that I came back to rant here that I couldn't capture on that day after spending the whole day there simply cos my guarantor's form has only one passport photograph).

So I went back on the 11th with the extra passport, and when it was almost my turn to capture, they complained about poor network. Since I had other things to do, I left the office and came bk on the 12th. Finally captured on the 12th, and was given a collection on the 18th. These guys suddenly started being nice after my capturing ooo. I ended up making a lot of friends that day and on my collection day... Went back on the 18th and was issued my passport within 5mins.

So I ended up spending approximately 27k, (as against 55k an agent told me, and gave me 14 days before collection) and less than two weeks (if you minus the two days delay they caused me) to get my passport.

My advice? They'll definitely try to ridicule you cos you applied online and won't fetch them money, but don't mind them. Stand your grounds and face whoever needs to be faced, they attend to you Las Las cos they value their jobs.!

Please how many passports is my guarantor supposed to present?

I have been at NIS office since morning, saw my file on the table in the morning and the interviewer promised to call me soon. Only for me to go back there, and my file was missing. We spent the last 3hrs ransacking the whole office to find my file. They finally found it. Only for me to find out during the interview stage that I cannot be captured today cos my guarantor's form has only one passport. The hell.! On that same form the guarantor was asked to present only one passport.!

These guys are so good at frustrating somebody. I spent the entire day at NIS office to achieve nothing! I hate this system! �

Guys please, I can't get past this stage as "continue your application" refused to click. I'm using Firefox browser and I have downloaded my application form as PDF. What do I do now?
