The spokesperson of the Indigenous people of Biafra Emma Powerful have told our correspondent how the supreme Leader of IPOBS Mazi Nnamdi kanu during a phone conversation with president Donald Trump persuaded Trump to send ventilators to Nigeria Amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Based on the appeal, United States President, Donald Trump said Thursday that he has sent 1,000 ventilators to Nigeria to help save lives from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Questioned on his claim of enough ventilators to share with other countries, after touring Ford Motor plant in Ypsilanti, Michigan, refitted to produce Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), he said: “We were just talking about we have a very big stockpile right now, and we building a bigger…we are helping a lot of other countries.

Nigeria, we just sent a thousand. We have various countries – France, Spain, we have a lot going to Italy, we have a lot going to probably 15, 18 countries. They’re calling us. We have the capacity to do this. Nobody else did.

“So, every state now has more than they need and our stockpile is totally full. We have a tremendous amount.

“So, now we’re really helping other countries where they’re losing a lot of people because they don’t have ventilators.”

Trump in a phone call to President Muhammadu Buhari, last month offered to assist Nigeria with some ventilators to tackle coronavirus.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, disclosed this during a briefing of the Presidential Task Force .(PTF) on COVID-19.

The indigenous people of Biafra through its spokesperson Emma Powerful have revealed how Mazi Nnamdi Kanu prevailed on Gov Nyesom Wike of Rivers state to lift the Total lockdown of Obio Akpor and Phalga.

Based on the plea of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu , The Governor of Rivers State has announced the lifting and relaxation of shutdown for six days only starting from Thursday May 21, 2020.

This announcement was contained in his news broadcast tody been May 20, 2020. You can recall that the lockdown exercise entered its second phase buy due to circumstances surrounding economic challenges of families.

Governor Wike of Rivers State makes the lift of ban on Obio Akpor and Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.

The second reason for this announcement could be related to the death of the chief press secretary to Government to give proper burial to Chief Simeon Nwakaudu.

The death of Simeon Nwakaudu, Governor Wike Chief Special Assistant on Electronic Media who also is the media coordinator of Brick House also known as Government House of Rivers State Government dies after battling protracted illness.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has just lost his Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Mr. Simeon Nwakaudu, who also doubled as his Chief Press Secretary, CPS.

In conclusion this lifting of total ban on Obio Akpor and Port Harcourt City Local Government is a welcome development.

The leadership of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOBS) led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu after a teleconference meeting with Gov Nyesom Wike of Rivers state were able to prevail on the Governor to Withdraw the charges against Caverton Helicopter Pilots, Passengers.

Mazi Nnamdi kanu intervened knowing fully well that the processes involved in their arrest did not tally with the Rule of law and the constitution of Nigeria.

The Rivers state government said that it has withdrawn and discontinued the two separate charges ( PMC/532C/2020 and PMC/533C/2020) preferred against the two pilots of Caverton Helicopters Ltd and the 10 passengers on board before the Port Harcourt Chief Magistrates’ Court.

A statement issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday by the Rivers state Commissioner for Information and Communication , Paulinous Nsirim said the presiding Chief Magistrate in charge of the case , D. D. Ihua-Maduenyi has struck out the two charges and discharged all the defendants.

The two Pilots of Caverton Helicopters alongside ten passengers on board the aircraft were arrested in April by the state taskforce on COVID-19 restriction of movement for the violation of the state government Executive Order on inter-state movement.

The two pilots and the ten passengers were arraigned before a Magistrate court in Port Harcourt.

The court presided over by Justice Ihua-Maduenyi ruled that the accused persons should be quarantined for 14 days.
