God bless Buhari. This is the best thing to do. The lockdown should continue for 30 days. While Nursery, primary and secondary schools can reopen. Research has shown that COVID-19 does not affect children so schools can reopen . May God heal our land. |
Since I stopped following COVID-19 Updates, I began to have peace of mind. NCDC is a FRAUD. |
There is no Testing in the south East hence no cases. The virus has really spread in the SE. I urge the NCDC to deploy much task force and test kits to the SE. I'm worried the number of cases in the SE is too small. May God heal our land |
God bless you sir. Even if they are all from the South East. They remain your sons and brothers. I just hope that IPOBS will appreciate this kind gesture. |
Are we supposed to celebrate this. Mtcheeeeew |
See how the ipobs criminals above me are hailing wike. Ipobs indeed will hail wike to destruction. Time will tell. Ipobs are very disgusting, full of hate, bitterness, I wonder how this ipobs terorists sleep at night. Tufiakwa |
We are winning the fight. The figures are getting better. We expect huge discharges by tomorrow. I still wonder why the SE states are not testing. |
God bless Tinubu. We shall overcome and it will end in praise. Nigeria shall be great again. |
Gov woke to do same on sunday 17th May 2020. Mark my words. |
We the Rivers Youth Movement frowns with total dismay following the disobedience of the NCDC guidelines on gathering and social distancing by Gov Wike and PDP Excos in Rivers state. It should be noted that Gov wike who have been so brutal to Rivers people all in the name of fighting the COVID-19 and protecting Rivers people will float it's own Executive orders. We want Nigerians to know that Gov Wike is playing politics with the fight against COVID-19 . The Governor merely relaxed the total lockdown for Two days to pave ways for the inaugurating of the New PDP Excos in Rivers state. Again to enable the PDP Excos organise a Thanksgiving service on sunday, Gov Wike has as well extended the resumption of the Total lockdown. We call on all well meaning Rivers people to resist any further Lockdown imposed by wike unless Wike and the Excos goes into quarantine for float the social distancing and gathering order as in the ORDER 006 of Gov Wike. The Rivers youth movement also wishes to appeal to the Federal government to prevail on Gov wike to as a matter of urgency go into quarantine with all the Excos as well as undergo a COVID-19 Tests. The Rivers youths Movement warns Gov wike to be ready for a brutal confrontation should he go ahead to impose any further Lockdown . Comrade Tari West Publicity Secretary Rivers Youths Movement

I hate IPOBS but I doubt IPOBS carry arms. I think these are fake IPOBS members. Let the Law have its cause. My fear here is that I dont trust our police hence I wont say these are real ipobs members. Police can lie too much. |
Confused man. Watch how Ipobs will hail him. Useless ipobs terorists carrying Rivers state matter for head. |
Is he still alive. I'm confused |
Ipobs are dumb founded. PMB keep shaming them. Ndi Ara |
You have misused your youthful age and now asking if you are getting married late at 41. You better just forget about marriage and go adopt a child as I believe you will enter menopus any moment from now. May God have mercy on you. |
seunmsg:Dont mind the ipobs hater. They keep raising fake news and information. With this court order, I'm very optimistic Nigeria will secure lots of evidences to pursue the appeal and secure a favourable verdict. |
Wike is a disgrace to Ndigbo. I urge Ohanaeze Ndigbo to sanction and banish wike. |
The Irony Of A Governor: Buhari Denying Wike Covid-19 Fund Has Turned Him Against His People The controversies trailing the fight against Covid-19 in Nigeria, is getting messier in Rivers state, with governor Wike Going practically crazy with his action against his people. Though Covid-19 has been in Nigeria for few months now, the way the government, both federal and state have been going about it, has been of politics than of striving to save the people from the ravaging scourge of the pandemic. To fight the pandemic, the federal government of Buhari released N15bn to Lagos State, and N5bn to NCDC, to drive their efforts against the spread of coronavirus in Nigeria. This fund release, was the beginning of the rat race by governors to get a share of the Federal government Fund for Covid-19. Sadly, the NCDC added to this race, when it decreed that Covid-19 must spread across the nation. So, Governor Wike waited patiently for Buhari to look at his side, in the release of Fund, but he was ignored. Then he voiced out his frustration over Buhari not giving Rivers State money, after giving Lagos N10bn. Afterwards, Kano government requested for N15bn from Buhari, like it was a contest of governor's demands. He was ignored too, but Aisha Buhari instead, took truck loads of PPE to Kano, as against the money that Kano government had demanded. When Wike saw the impossibility of ever getting cash from Buhari, he turned against his people. And total lockdown was placed on Rivers state, and oil workers who violated the lockdown were flamboyantly dealt with, and given wide publicity in the media. This also placed the FG against Rivers, especially in the case of Carverton Helicopters operators whom the Federal government had given a pass to fly despite lockdown, without notifying the Rivers state governmen Wike on his own was praised for his initial proactive approach to the coronavirus curtailment fight; but when Buhari, and most companies in Rivers state didn't give him money, he decided to unleash terrible anger against his people. In the first place, companies have no business giving government money to perform its responsibility. As he couldn't punish the companies, the only way he could treat them badly was to shutdown the state and deprived them from functioning. But this is actually to the detriment of the state's IGR, especially now that oil price has greatly fallen in the global market, and no more much money coming from Abuja. Besides this, shutdown also subjects Rivers people to untold hardship. For as Coronavirus is not a disease outbreak in Nigeria, all that needed to be done is to trace the contact of whoever is found infected and have them isolated; and not the inglorious shutdown that the government has been using to threaten the citizens. Wike knowing that he wasn't getting Buhari to budge, decided to be brutal. First he ordered that cars confiscated during the coronavirus shutdown be auctioned, and then he demolished hotels of those he claimed violated the lockdown rule. Reasonably, lockdown is not to punish citizens, but to be able to keep a supposed infected persons stational and their possible contacts traced. Meaning, any violator should be carry to isolation and be sure he or she is not infected. And once cleared of that, he or she should be let go. But Wike is allowing power to override him and therefore misbehaving. How does violating a regulation to stay at home, leads to the demolition of building as a punishment, or selling of violator's car as punishment? This can only happen when a power drunk man is in power in a structureless nation. It is barbaric for an executive governor to be the law giver, the judge, and the executor of judgement. If there was a violation, the offenders should be arranged in court and let the court decide, what punishment should be melted out according to the law. What Wike has/is doing is him, actually demarketing the PDP in Rivers state. His actions so far with regards to the auctioning of cars belonging to alleged offenders of the executive order and the demolition of hotels belonging to other offenders is a huge absurdity that paint Wike as an unintelligent power drunk. https://www.operanewsapp.com/ng/en/share/detail?news_id=743ab11bfb92a0032763fb7d59e361ee&news_entry_id=s452c0c78200510en_ng&open_type=transcoded&request_id=PUSH_38b1e8c3-e7e1-41ed-aac0-e41cd0e3488c&from=newslite |

On the legal status and application of Executive Orders: In the more recent case of FAITH OKAFOR V. GOVERNOR OF LAGOS STATE & ANOR. (2016) LPELR-41066 (CA), the Governor of Lagos State issued a directive restricting the movement of citizens and residents during the State’s monthly environmental sanitation, the Court of Appeal unanimously held that the Appellant, Faith Okafor, could not be arrested or prosecuted for disobeying or flouting the Executive Order or Directive of the Governor of Lagos State because the Appellant could only be arrested and prosecuted for an offence that is prescribed in a written law. In his concurring judgment, BIOBELE ABRAHAM GEORGEWILL, J.C.A. at p 46-47 declared thus: "It is my view, that democracy thrives more on obeying and promoting the rule of law rather than the whims and caprices of the leaders against the lead. I find the conduct of the Respondent in not only persecuting the Appellant, yes that is what in my view amounts to when a free Citizen of this great Country such as Citizen Faith Okafor, is put through the rigours of criminal process for an offence not prescribed in any written law but merely on the directive of the Governor of the Lagos State. An action which if allowed to thrive in a democracy such as ours could confer on such office holders infinite, absolute and autocratic powers contrary to the clear provisions of the Constitution of the land, to which both the leaders and the led are subject. I refuse to allow such autocratic, absolute and infinite powers to fester upon our nascent democracy." Accordingly, it is submitted that no person can be arrested or prosecuted for circumventing or violating an Executive Order. Based on the foregoing, it can be concluded that Gov wike erred in Law even as a lawyer and married to a Judge. |

But presidential hotel is operating full time. Why has wike not demolished it. Because it is a state govt owned hotel. I like wike but I disagree with him on this demolition. I pray wike should not incure the wrath of Rivers people. Wike lacks humility or loyalty, he respects no one, never willing to take advice from anyone. I urge Gov wike to tender an unreserved appology to the people of Rivers state, rebuild the hotel and compensate the hotel owners. |
CSOs urge Wike to review lockdown of Rivers LG Civil society organisations and the Media Situation Room have urged Governor Nyesom Wike to review the 24-hour curfew imposed on Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas in Rivers State. Reacting to the decision, the groups claimed that the government policy responses to the COVID-19 pandemic were worsening the plight of the people. They regretted that government at all levels had continued to revel (in) anti-people policies and directives without broad consultation with relevant stakeholders, as the latest lockdown raises serious concern. In a joint statement issued by the Situation Room co-chairman, Stevyn Obodoekwe, and Sebastian Kpalap, the groups worried about the lockdown, saying that it would “further create uncertainty and panic in the lives of those whose only sources of livelihood depend on daily hustling,” describing the policy as “very harsh.” They stated that at a time other countries and states were beginning to ease restrictions, it is curious that Rivers State is tightening the screws. “At a time the federal government took the lead to relax the lockdown which lasted for more than two months, one wonders why the Rivers State government should be planning at this time to embark on total lockdown. “What are the parameters being used to impose a total lockdown on some local councils? Has the government evaluated the distribution of palliatives to know who and who has gotten and how sustaining this has been? What provision has the state government put in place to ensure aggressive testing of households in other to detect who has the virus, what sensitisation measures have the government put in place in other to inform the people, especially rural dwellers on the dangers of COVID-19, and the possible avoidable guidelines? How many test centres do we have in the state?” the groups queried. They submitted that the lockdown was bearing the “back-breaking brunt on the poor masses,” urging the governor to relax it in the overall interest of the suffering masses. “An evaluation should be done on the closure of the borders to see its effectiveness, as it appears that despite the closure of the state borders, the numbers of cases recorded in the state have continued to rise,” the groups added. Meanwhile, Governor Wike has advised traditional rulers in the state to raise task forces in their respective communities to enforce the closure of markets, hotels and bars in the state. As the curfew commences from, Wike threatened to demolish any structures or shops that open for business during the period. He told the traditional rulers at the Government House, Port Harcourt, that the shutdown had become necessary to slow the spread of COVID-19 pandemic which cases are 14 in the state. https://www.operanewsapp.com/ng/en/share/detail?news_id=522bc87e2ca9c4219f40b75fd22e1138&news_entry_id=49a2c6cc200507en_ng&open_type=transcoded&request_id=DETAIL_EXPLORE_34a99b2b-210d-4ad8-ad82-4bfb7cb7077c&from=newslite

Only herbs from the North or south west should be accepted. Any herb from the SE should be rejected due to previous fake herbs that never worked during the Ebola. |
Why not ship them to the south East where we have less cases. Imo, Anambra, Enugu or Abia state is ok for now. I urge the FG to ship them to the South East immediately. |
This colonial virus is gotten out of hands. The worlds needs to do something to stop this virus. |
