Family › How Do I Save For The Future So As Not To Learn The Hard Way? by contumely2(op): 10:07pm On Oct 20, 2019 |
I am a man in late 20's. I grew up in lack. I suffered so much growing up. In fact, at a point the court had to eject us and threw our properties on the streets for inability to pay rent.
School fees were paid in instalments. Not like the fees were much even. But the funds were never there.
God has blessed me reasonably in the past few years. I made a lot of sacrifices too, denying myself pleasure, delaying gratification etc.
Lately, I noticed that I have been extravagant. Some of the extravagance is masked as charity to people.
I hardly say no requests and I empathise and pity people a lot.
If I lend money to 10 persons, only 3 will pay back.
I also buy some things on impulse; without planning. I regret some of these purchases later.
HOW DO I STAY motivated so as to save more to invest because the future is uncertain. And money is not always there?
I also understand that those we help may abandon us in time of need.
I don't want to learn the hard way.
Kindly share your experiences with grace to grass; or with people you helped in times of plenty.
Or your regrets with finances especially early in life.
Thanks! |
Health › Re: Please Help, Insomnia Is Killing Me by contumely2: 6:35am On Oct 04, 2019 |
vincixpresso: Now you've solved the riddle. The exhaustive sex is the cause. I experienced such in my 4th yr in school. A girl visited for the weekend(on Friday), and we had more than 5 rounds of body recking sex each day, and by the time she left on Sunday, my ancestors were now in constant communion with me. I survived by Grace.
Funny enough, my guys nicknamed her oti mkpu(the screamer), cos her ring tone no be her, and it's always funny how people thought that I was killing the girl that year, when they didn't know the reverse was the case and the girl might be using that loud ring tones to drown my own voice. Ahhhhhhh, am still alive though, but I bn sick for straight one month after she left that weekend. 5 rounds each day with drugs abi? See ya life... |

HBB1: Entrepreneurship in Naij based on merit?!
Every successful Entrepreneur leverages on unfair advantage(s), how much more Nigeria.
A certain man got the sole license to import cement years back and today he is the benchmark for measuring wealth.
Another man is believed to be a front for a certain former head of state-- hence his big businesses in Oil and Telecoms were probably not proceeds of sweat like you sweat.
How about the woman who was 'dashed' an Oil well?
Or the retired General that paid 20million USD for his own Oil exploration license (I guess it was his pension)
Or that Presidential aspirant that is one of the biggest employers in the Country.
You think it was all based on merit?
A certain electronic billboard in Lagos is said to be owned by the Son of a very big man. 10 million a month per Ad. and you can count over 10 ads in no time when caught in traffic-- over 10 in a few minutes!
While the tax people are hounding you for money, some businesses are 'exempted' from paying tax. They 'legally' don't pay tax! How about those that AMCON have been chasing up-and-down? People that secured loans without collateral, nothing!
Bros, forget. If you roll in some circles, you will wonder why you work so hard. Are you serious about the 10m part? |

ornicus: I laugh sef. Nigerians that don't have customer service mentality. Uber is a platform for self employed and you are reading of how drivers are beating up passengers for rudeness. Same thing with these sales entrepreneurs who sell you rubbish items with no guarantee. As you are buying you are crossing your fingers. The moment you get small money you step up to buying from amazon where you know you are getting a product that will last.
Nigerian entrepreneurs. Buy original police watch from them at 50 k and strap starts peeling in a week. Buy 10 year guaranteed casio watch from them and it also fails in a week. You get story from them about mishandling, not covered etc. You buy direct from amazon cheaper and no QA issues whatsoever.
Common slot dey swap battery and charger and earphone from case. If low level staff are doing that what is oga doing? My rant about naija entrepreneurs Are you serious about charger swapping? |

flowx: Borrow charger when I'm using 5000 AMP battery...?
I've used 2000 AMP batteries before and the difference is very clear.
If you want peace of mind Bros, check the phone specifications especially the phone with bigger battery before putting your hardearning on it.
Most of the time now, I don't charge my phone for 2 days and I would be ok....
Aside that, I only charge my phone in my room my charger can never go outside... To do watin self?
That's peace of mind! which phone is that? |

Very useless stats. No single data from Nigeria is correct even at a conservative level.

Exponental: I use 175/80 or 185/70. Toks is 6k while new is 11k. I have never enjoyed toks for more than 12months. Pls, which is cheaper now.....? Penny wise pounds foolish applies in some cases. I learned my lesson and now have new tires today. I bought on loan but I've cleared it all now. Forget the model, I can compete with your car on a highway! That's a golf 3 i guess. |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by contumely2: 11:03pm On Sep 13, 2019 |
Jesusbabygirl: It is not advisable to be stating amounts on a public forum. It has been repeated several times on here. Please be cautious. You can make your point without that.
To your question, bonds tend to have higher yield because of their longer tenor. However, because it is difficult to predict what inflation will be over the course of the 10 or 20 or 30 years tenor, it just be might be better to invest in tbills (a year tenor) and keep rolling over. That way, you can always re-evaluate every year what makes sense. What are you saying? So what will happen if he mentions 100m? He will be kidnapped? So all these bank staff that know people's account balances nko? What about Otedola, Dangote etc Don't be a scaremonger. Don't say rubbish here! |

PAPIJAID: I will advise that blankets should always be available, my car would have gone up in flames about 4 months ago but for the help of blankets, just cover the fire with it and put a little pressure, my peeps it works. Fire extinguisher expires without so many drivers knowledge. Some even buy expired extinguisher without knowing. What type of blanket? |
