My first question is, do you even know what highlighting and contouring mean? I know you would readily say a blend of lighter and darker shades on different parts of the face.

But here is my own definition in simple terms, to highlight is to BRING OUT certain features of the face which you consider attractive using about two shades lighter than your tone.

On the other hand, Contouring means shading parts of the face you want drawn in or make less prominent, using a darker shade.

Milk of Magnesia! I remember the first time I heard about using it for makeup, I honestly didn’t know it’s a drug, never liked drugs so the name didn’t register at all. It was a friend who told me about it did not say I should look for it in a drug store of pharmacy.

More funny was my husband’s reaction when I got it, I had been shouting about the goodness of it, so when I got it, he was waiting to see the infamous MOM(milk of magnesia) in some gorgeous makeup container, when I brought it out, (I wish I had captured his expression on camera), he said “is this not the drug they use for tummy aches? You will use this on the face? Hehe, the havoc fashion will cause, it will not be able to cure…” lol.

Now ladies let’s talk, we all don’t like the way our regular makeup looks after two or so hours, getting soo oily it begins to feel gummy, it transfers on anything it comes in contact with, feels so sweaty you just want to get it off, yagzz! I honestly know that feeling.

Then to make matters worse you get a primer and the only thing it does is add to the problem, I got one too like that so I’m talking from experience...

Wifey and i had argued whether certain kids are born with dreadlocks. While she’s of the opinion that every child with dreads simply didn’t have their hair combed and shaved for a long time, i disagreed choosing to believe the Yorubas.

According to the Yoruba ethnic group of Nigeria, Dada is the name given to a child born with naturally matted or locked hair that cannot be combed.

Glitter eyeshadows have been around for a while now and making the rave and you MUST know how to apply them! This post will not just be about fixing your glitter eyeshadow, but also how to get the affordable ones.

Glitter pot, glitter dust or whatever you choose to call it, have been produced by different brands and of course nice on the eyes cuz of its sparkling effect. So I walked into a makeup store sometimes back and asked to be given a glitter eyeshadow, the lady gave me one and said “N3500” (that is about $11.66), I said “how many of them?” She answered, “the one in your hand”. Of course I dropped it. That one equals just one out of the many shadows in my palette.

Some glitters come mixed with the glue in the bottle already, I also found some that come pressed like normal shadow, highly pigmented, you can check them out online.

Here is what I did, since they sell glitter glue seperately, I bought a good one (Ben Nye) and this is a funny one you might not believe, I walked into a nail art shop and got plenty of glitters of different colours, both the finely granulated ones and the ones bigger in shape! Yeah…as a sharp girl. And believe me, the nail art ones are cheeeaaaappppeeerrr and give exact effect if you follow the steps.

Although now I stock the high end ones for the sake of brand and label freaks, so if you got the dough, go right on sis, go stock ‘em. But gal, it is really about application and less of brands and labels abeg, at least on this one.
