AjanleKoko: So Zuckerberg and Gates were married when they struck their billions? huh
you missed the point as usual.
the dude said a man's life ends once he's married and i replied if that was true, zuckerberg/gates should be wretched by now cos their wives should have ended their lives.....

obowunmi: Isn't is desperation that forced her to marry a man from Nigeria? Why couldn't she find someone in London, or where ever she's located.
more like it's desperation that forced the husband to marry a wife in london. he's got 40 million marriageable women to choose from in naija and yet he settled for the woman abroad to the extent of moving out there -

the woman in london has less than 200,000 nigerian men to choose from. by the time you strip it down to her preferences concerning height, employment status, educational background, etc, that number reduces to probably 50 to 100. my spider sense tells me the man abroad is far more desperate!

If she loved London so much, you choose someone from there and not try to derail another man's life
by the same token, if the hubby loved naija so much, why agree at all to relocate to london?

The man sef MUGU, MUMU small. He should have never married a heartless witch.
bwahahahaha - i am glad you now admit the hubby had no spinal cord!!!

obowunmi: I don't know why folks can't be objective about an issue.

The man here has given it a shot, it's not working. Should his life end because he's married?

Why are some of you wicked
should the woman's life also end because her husband lacks a spinal cord?

obowunmi: What I'm reading from some people on this thread is that a man's life ends once he's married. He becomes his wife's bitch. A man should no longer have goals because he's married.

Sad! No wonder divorce is everywhere.
if that's true, mark zuckerberg or bill gates should be on the streets wretched by now, begging for crumbs. marriage is a partnership venture. none of the parties should singlehandedly make a decision that would affect the family.

Nashville: This young man to me appears to be a very loving and kind gentleman. He was doing well and even had built a house in Nigeria but agreed to relocate because he loved his wife and thought that it would be easier for him (based on his skills) to get a job in the UK than for his wife to get a job in Nigeria. So he made the sacrifice for the wife. How can you fault him for doing that?

Unfortunately, sometimes things dont happened as planned. He got to the UK and tried for 4 good years and no luck. Are you saying four years is not a long time? Agreement or no agreement this man has tried alot. Do you know if he may have other family committments that he cannot meet anymore because he has not job? What if he is an only child and his mother is a poorwidow and pensioner and she relies on him for feeding?

There are other issues that may be involved so it will be very bad to castigate the man in my opinion?
he worked within that 4-year period as a contractor and i am sure he must have made what permanent staff make per annum in just 3 months.

dahmie2013: @OP, u're aren't biased @ all infact, u just told her d truth. She's being selfish or is she a learner? Doesn't she know wat marriage entails. Tell her, u can't have ur cake & eat it. debosky: The point is, he is played where he is most effective - not turned into a spare tyre. tongue
rooney performed like a spare tyre and that was where his problem started. fergie was furious with the fact that rooney turned up for the season overweight. van persie was on the bench against everton @ goodison, remember?

Sure - and even in the golden boot year he was sidelined, spent the next season on the bench and then left. You think Rooney hasn't seen what happens to players who get sidelined at United?
except that fergie is long gone now and it's a new dawn with a different manager. everyone has an equal chance and rooney should be striving to convince moyes he's first choice and not a spare tyre. you might have had a point if fergie or phelan was still at old trafford!

Rubbish - instead of buying quality players, y'all were stocking up on duds like Young and holding on to waste men like Anderson. Rooney doesn't mind competition, but it is NOT competition when the coach has decided - before even seeing you train - that you are second fiddle.
and the same dud players continue to deliver titles after titles. if you remove drogba's offside goal in 2010 and the 2 late goals conceded in the last 7 mins against everton in 2012. united would have won the league title 6 consecutive times with the players you branded as duds

Then tell Jurassic Moyes to let him go. cheesy
of course, rooney can go but for the right price - not the £22m chelsea is dangling. wenger can have him for £55m.

Nashville: I am not saying Nigeria is rosy or it is Canaan but each case has to be reviewed independently. The man had a good career in Nigeria, has a good network in Nigeria and has a good job waiting for him. He went down yo Lagos for only one month and got a good job. Nigeria is tight but this guy appears to be one of the fortunate few, so he has no business being unemployed for many years in London.
but he agreed to be with wife and kids in the UK. why are you people not talking about the initial agreement?

Even if he loses his job in a year, he would most likely get another one because of his networks and experience. He does not have that kind of network in London and frankly speaking, the fact that he has been out of work for soo long will count much more against him in London. I know Nigeria is not Canaan, but for this man and his family, I strongly believe they are better off in Nigeria.
if something goes pear-shaped for him in nigeria, should i hold you responsible?
Family › Re: Advice Needed by coogar: 1:52pm On Jul 25, 2013
debosky: I fully support the wife’s opposition. Why would the man - sneakily behind her back - attend an interview and accept a job offer in a different country? It’s one thing to say the man feels he is wasting away, but just as the decision to move to the UK was a joint one, the decision to move to Nigeria must also be a joint one.

It cannot be a decision the man foists on her by saying ‘I’ve taken the job - it’s too late’. This lady was crystal clear about what she wanted before they got married - it’s quite inconsiderate to ambush her with the Nigeria move in this manner.

How can you be married to someone and go for an interview and accept the job without telling her? Because he knows she will be opposed to it, and wants to back her into a corner - that is not how to do things.

She needs to stand firm in her position - you don’t make your life decisions simply based on money. Yes he might be struggling to hold down a job right now, but what is the guarantee the so called rosy job won’t disappear tomorrow? If there is a plan to change country, the holistic impact on the family needs to be considered and a decision taken - the man needs to do this with his wife before deciding on a job. Any action taken must be in agreement with that family decision and not in isolation.

You need to sort these things out as a family - I know giving up a career for the other is not something people love, but it must not come about as an ambush. If something was agreed before, another agreement must be reached before things change.

This talk of ‘helping him settle down’ misses the point - it means a decision has already been taken that he WILL be in Nigeria and it’s up to her to relocate if she chooses. That is not how things should work.
debosky, remind me to send a live cow to you this christmas.

Nashville: Some people are even pocketing £1,000 per day or in jobs that pay 7 digits. Unfortunately he hasn't been that lucky or successful. For every Nigerian getting £500 per day there are 5 earning only £50 per day and that is the reality. How long does he continue to wait when he has a fat juicy job waiting for him in Nigeria. Do you know how much competition there is in the UK? All the Eastern Europeans are now there so its no longer easy.
how easy is it in nigeria too? the same nigeria where the job security is close to nonexistent - what's to say this man cannot be laid off after 3-6 months? you people should stop painting nigeria like it's canaan. there are people who have told me ugly stories about relocation to nigeria too.

one of my old colleagues in KWAC sold his house for about £250k here, got a job in nigeria and relocated with his family. life was good for a couple of years, then he lost his job. his efforts to get another one proved abortive....the stress got to the wife so much, she miscarried and lost her sanity as a result. they are back in the UK now having to start from scratch while the wifey is yet to recover.....

chaircover: YES!!!!! If God forbid, he is out of work, has tried everything he can to get one and he is depressed about it and I can see his self esteem dropping away and someone offers him a good job in Nigeria.
i am not convinced this man has tried everything - he just wants to relocate to nigeria. he appears to me like the kind of man that does cheap comparison to his peers he left in naija.

He is happy . . the kids and I are happy. What is the point of having a miserable man around me?
The only thing is that I will make Nigeria like my backyard and we will be seeing each other a lot often than every 3 months.
hmmmm, smart woman!!!

Nashville: What comfort zone? Working as a social worker with a jobless husband and you call that comfort? Marriage is about compromise. They have tried London for at least four years and it doesnt seem to be working out. Why not try Nigeria. The man already now has a good job. She may come to Nigeria and find a much better life but she is being too rigid and selfish. The alternative is for them to live apart for a while.
when mistakes are made in the UK, there's always a safety net that enables people to pick themselves up and try again. when mistakes are made in nigeria, death is usually the end result. if the relocation is between the UK and say US/canada/australia, i wouldn't even bat my eyelids but it's nigeria.

I will put the husband around 35 yrs old. If he stays idle for another 5 years, he can as well forget about any headway in life because his time will have passed. Some people have been saying he should look for other sectors for employment. You folks dont know how tough the UK especially coming with a 9ja degree. I am sure the guy don apply tire without any luck.
it's in the same UK many nigerians are pocketing £300-£500 per day without breaking sweat. the husband should explore other options and make himself more marketable. he's not too old take associate exams and get well-paying jobs.
Family › Re: Advice Needed by coogar: 1:22pm On Jul 25, 2013
chaircover: He stays & the marriage is over anyway! Resentment plus men and thier egos!!!!.
Eventually he will feel pushed to the wall and he will start an affair with someone in his own "class" who he feels comfortable with
well, it's better the marriage is over here where the woman can teach him a harsh lesson. i hate men with no spinal cord. you promised a woman you would relocate and be there for her and 4 years down the line, the lust for gulder and nkwobi soup is threatening to ruin everything....

The least they can do is to give it a chance to see if it works. Its about compromise & not all or nothing!

No one is asking her to go and live in Nigeria, but to let her husband try and do something that he enjoys and matches his skill set. They can even put a time frame on it and say 2 years for example.
so you would leave your hubby in nigeria for 2 years? i am not sure if we should take you serious. nigeria? husband? 2 years?
Family › Re: Advice Needed by coogar: 1:11pm On Jul 25, 2013
naijababe: And he did relocate and stuck it for 4 years! That to me is a man standing by his words, if that decision is not working out for him, there's nothing wrong with retracing his steps now.
so if monogamy is not working for a man that promised his wife he would only have one wife, he should retrace his steps back and try polygamy? na wa o. he endured it for 4 years but how determined was he to find a job? if he's not sending 50 online applications per day, then he's a lazy man!!!

They are married now and if they want to be happy, they both have to be willing to make compromises together as opposed to one party making ridiculous ultimatums.
unlike most nigerian women, this woman has a gift of foresight. she knows the moment her husband steps foot in nigeria to work, the marriage is as good as over. if he doesn't chase, the women would chase him and the society actually encourages such.....

Uju do you really think she will suffer? Me am very in touch with Nigeria oh (ok maybe most of the ones I know are comfortable) but people I know are definitely not suffering. If you ask me sef, I would rather my child goes to Corona or Greensprings than some schools in London
corona better than which schools in london? apart from the fact that you would be saving about N4 million a year, the schools here prepare the child for the world out there more than any private school in nigeria can offer.

the only reason people send their wards to expensive schools is nigeria is not because of quality education - it's more to do with networking!!

i have never heard of any student of these expensive schools besting JAMB or smashing any record in WAEC.

elampiro: Pull Messi out of Barca to a less fortified team, then I can truly judge his ability. Ronaldo has proven himself in two clubs, but also more fortified teams. If Ronaldo were to play in the United of 2010 to date without Rooney he wouldn't be scoring 40 goals.
he scored 42 goals as a winger in 2008. he has improved as a goalscorer since then and he keeps improving. ronaldo does not need rooney to score goals. he has more ammo to hurt opponents than any player in the world.

Ronaldo and Messi are the greatest, but someone should also know that they are very much surrounded by great men, particularly Messi.
rooney is surrounded by great players too but he's vastly indiscriplined, mostly unfit and infinitely lazy. rooney's trajectory as a football player is weird. he had more talents as a teenager than when he's supposed to be at his peak.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 10:35am On Jul 25, 2013
debosky: Nonsense - did Real Madrid buy another striker and ask CR7 to be marking people in a CL game? Did Barca not adjust their team to maximise Messi's output? Nah, instead United bought RVP and relegated Rooney - on the back of a 34 goal season - to a jack of all trades utility player. It was all done on the basis of 'punishing' him for his asking for a transfer, simple.
you talk a lot of rubbish - ronaldo plays as a left forward for real madrid in spite of his goalscoring prowess. higuain/benzema always play as the arrowhead....so yes, ronaldo tracks back to protect his fullback when defending. so what if rooney scored 34 goals when 10 of those goals are cheap penalties from 12 yards?

United is pushing him out by saying that Rooney will only be a back up to RVP. If RVP is getting such assurances based on ONE season, Rooney should have received similar backing after scoring 34 goals in 11/12 but he didn't.
yes, he's a backup.....berbatov was bought for £30m as a backup to the holy trinity in 2009. he missed many top games but this did not discourage him from winning the golden boot later. competition brings out the best in players, it shouldn't make them run.

was it not the same rooney that submitted a request in 2010 questioning the ambition of the club that they are not bringing in quality players? we added ordinary van persie and rooney is getting hot under the collar - shame on wayne!!

If I were Rooney I'd do the same - when the coach has decided on his favourites without even seeing you train, you know the game is up. Ibra knew this at Barca and knew Messi was going to always take precedence and he left. Rooney's actions are very logical - go to where you're wanted.
let him go to chelsea - you know, jose mourinho does not have his own selection problem in the attack, right? he has not even worked out how to give lukaku, ba and torres games and rooney wants to compound their problems. i am sick and tired of rooney's face in man utd.
