dayokanu: Champions League is my hope for Bayern.

I cant see that many teams better than us in Europe. Maybe only Barcelona. After them I believe with our team

Same team from last yr with the inclusion of Shaqiri, Dante, Mandzukic and (Martinez)we can stand toe to toe with Madrid
and yet chelsea murdered you on your own turf with an ageing drogba and you don't have an answer to dortmund's onslaught in the bundesliga.....there are plenty of teams better than bayern munich! i can name 5!

Sagamite: You are chatting shyt!
Desire is not behaviour.
yes, it is!

If I go to Saudi Arabia and in the spur of the moment I want to kiss my wife in public but know I will get 400 lashes and I do not do it.
I have the desire but a law has changed my opinion.
Simple LOGIC!
illogical....
learn the difference between fantasy and desire. you cannot desire to kiss your wife in public in saudi arabia - you only "wish" it could happen..and in this context, that "wish" is fantasy!

Insurance companies in ALL PARTS OF THE WORLD are not all mad when they charge higher premium to a particular age group.
Simple LOGIC!
that is because that particular age group is more daring. the male gender of that particular age group even pays more than their female counterparts. nothing to do with desire and behaviour----

Laws don't change your desires, they control your behaviours!
the laws change desires and the when there's no desire there can be no behaviour!

There are muthafuckers I desire to smack across the face but I live in a country where the law will be enforced, so I control my behaviour. That does not mean I still do not itch deep down to smack them.
change that to "there are muthafuckers you fantasise to smack across the face..."

DESIRE is not the same thing as BEHAVIOUR!
think deep and you would see its the same!

Sheva won CLs, titles, European player of the year. . . .what has RVP won?

Your comparisons are getting dafter by the minute.
the initial payment is £15m - ask arsene wenger!
so sheva won leagues and champions league at the age of 30 when chelsea signed him? if your team is not filled with mediocre players, van persie would have won plenty too but you are asking a lot if you expect one world class player and 10 sankwas to win a league title. van persie got arsenal to the 3rd position singlehandedly - that alone is enough for fergie(the greatest club football manager) to sign robin!

Pataki: I got the comparison you are trying to illustrate earlier on. However we both know Champions League and EPL are two different ball games. For example, a Chelsea team that was a total failure in the EPL of this last season suddenly became the Champions in the Champions league. grin

So do you now get why I make mention of apples and oranges? grin
that was because chelsea sacrificed their league campaign and concentrated so much on winning the champions league! their owner probably wanted it so - he values the champions league than winning the league. fact remains winning the champions league is harder and if united can get into 3 champions league finals in 4 seasons without the help of howard webb, then winning their domestic league should be bread and butter!

The thing stopping you are laws. It is controlling your behaviour.

As you get older, that desire will diminish. That FACT is reflected in your insurance policy payments.

It is chemical changes that changes your desire to put chemicals in your body, not laws. Stop arguing against logic!

Sagamite: Rubbish!
Yous till have the desire to drive as you want. The law has not changed that, it has only controlled you from doing it.
i don't have the desire to drive as i want again---i used to but that feeling has been beaten out of me cos i now understand why i shouldn't drive how i want!

Drug addicts change, not based on laws. They change based on chemicals given to them to assist/suppress/change/reduce their desires.
That was a useless analogy.
the law is the reason they are being given chemicals to suppress their desires to use in the first place. tobacco smoking: don't smoke indoors, don't smoke in the public, don't smoke in the car - how soon before you even lose the desire to smoke at all! it's almost criminalised to smoke
It is the threat of consequences (fines, addiction, smacking) that controls behaviours. Desires are natural things controlled by natural changes (the most dominant), chemical inducement (where possible) or social education (this one normally takes decades).
and it's those threats of consequences that would soon eat up the desires!!!

IT HAS ONLY CHANGED YOUR BEHAVIOUR! THE DESIRE IS STILL THERE!

WTF! This is simple as ABC!

On the long run, it is age and reduced testosterone that changes your desire.
i disagree....
when the laws suppress the behaviour for a while, the desires disappear. the desire i am talking about is not as strong as what it used to be. it has gone from "very strong" to "very weak" and over time it would completely disappear......drug addicts in a rehab still get minute desires to use but after a while, those desires disappear and they stay clean!

The way you keep harping about the difference between "Premier League" and "Football League"(First Division), one would think it's played in a different country by aliens, refereed by polar bears and governed by banshees, not knowing it's the exact same format with the exact same teams that made up the First Division embarking on a money-making exercise. What the fudge are you on about? huh
there's a difference between the old football league tainted by corruption, football violence and the well structured and violent free premier league! you have a problem with being corrected. anyone who argues the old football league(which 10 clubs threatened to leave as at 1988 to form a super league) is the same as the premier league is nothing but a simpleton! this is united's trophy, if it irks you so bad, go n hug a boko haram suicide bomber!

yes it did, you stark illiterate!
it only became the english premier league in 92/93. before then it was known as the football league!

Of course they've won the "league" 18 times, Blackburn have never won the "Barclays Premier League", innit? Newcastle have never won the "nPower Championship"? You are taking the piss!

liverpool have won the football league 18 times, not the premier league...you schmuck!!

As at 1990 Liverpool were top dogs by a mile, winning 10 OF THE LAST 15 titles(not to mention their success in Europe), yet haven't smelt it since, and that was an era where there were no sheiks or Russians that could get bored and decide to bid $2b for Messi and Ronaldo. It's pretty daft to call it "our trophy" when:
you have managed to type about 500 words without saying shyte - liverpool were top dogs in the old "football league" not in the premier league. why are you so intransigent at idiocy when the facts are not even far fetched? this is the fansite of liverpool club asking themselves why they are yet to win the premier league....

http://thekop.liverpoolfc.com/_Why-Liverpool-have-never-won-the-premier-league/blog/5698271/173471.html

ritchboy, surely you know better than this army of scousers who know they are yet to win the premier league. your thought process is slower than earth's revolution!

A. You've only won it once in the last three years.
B. You've only won it once more than Liverpool overall.
C. There's a new sheriff in town(City).
yet more gross idiocy on display...
why cut to the last 3 yrs? did the "premier" league start 3 yrs ago? it started in 92/93 and united have won it 12 times since then. liverpool have won 0 "premier" league titles since then so you are chatting hokum!

So the UCL is Real's trophy even though they haven't won it in a decade? cheesy
except that madrid haven't won it 60% of the time and united haven't gone on a 10-year drought in the premier league. the analogy(at best) is lethargic! if this is what the van persie transfer has turned you to them long may these symptoms continue.....you have metamorphosed into a complete muppet! i never thought i would see another arsenal fan more pathetic than dipo+. the tool cannot differentiate between the premier league and the old football league!

Sagamite: What are you arguing.

How has the law dictated your desire if you still have the desire to honk my horn playfully, run the lights, stick one arm out of the window, jump queues, etc?

The law merely controlled your behaviour, as I said.
to dictate and to control means the same thing!
sagamite, stop scraping the barrel!

I would rather have kids that will not do what I don't like because they fear smacking, than kids that do it freely.
don't gloss it
simply say: you would rather have kids that would do their vices behind you than do it in your presence.

I would rather live in societies where kids are scared to slap their teachers, than one were they whooze teachers faces at will.
kids at st finbarrs beat their teachers in lagos at will despite being smacked!
why are you pretending there are no touts amongst secondary school students in lagos! half of them become cultists even before they apply for jamb/poly jamb and they all got smacked at home/school!

To answer your question, you yourself think how come Singaporean/Botswani smacked kids do not become corrupt leaders.
there's corruption in singapore!

Maybe that will show you that other factors determine things and smacking is not a panacea for everything in the world and if you can find anything wrong you should not carry it as evidence smacking is not useful.
i never said smacking is the only reason why kids are what they become in nigeria. my point is corporal punishment has failed in nigeria! in spite of the strict discipline, the majority of the kids still grow up corrupt!

What next? You will ask me how come we don't win alot of Olympic medals even though we smack our kids?
how does this affect the price of fish?

You see the effects of the discipline when they are young and under their parents. Whatever they become as adults is based on a lot of factors.
and i am telling you secondary school students who are still under their parents are much worse. a child taking ssce exam is under the watchful eyes of her parents. many of them around the age of 16 and yet they do everything evil at the centres! impersonation, bribery, criminal bravery, etc. these days, you would find malpractises in jss exams?

Oh, so now you see there are other factors that dictate corruption?
possibly!
but how we raise these kids take the lion share of the factors. if they were really trained to be honest and hardworking then i don't see how they can be corrupt. but the cane only cows them for a while, the moment they grow up to be adults, all the lessons learnt by the strict discipline flies out of the window and a new career criminal is born!

E.g. Leadership?

E.g. Culture?

So now you know smacking is not the panacea or determinant of everything that can go wrong?
our culture teaches us to be corrupt? which part of it? abeg, show me!
leadership can't be a factor. the leaders also got caned at a point in time. who corrupted the leaders?

Yes, they had/have a better squad[/quote]united beat liverpool to it by 4 precious points. city did not beat united by points, they did by goals difference. so in a nutshell, had aguero smashed the post instead of scoring to beat qpr and united won the league despite losing 1-6 to city - then united have the better team?

so city have a better squad than man utd because aguero scored a winner in the last few seconds playing against a 10-man qpr team? you see why we call you a tool? you are judging a better squad based on one single moment!!!
Family › Re: by coogar: 7:41pm On Aug 16, 2012
Sagamite: The first thing you have to learn is that, laws do not dictate people's desires.
it does when enforced effectively!
this is why you would see drivers who disobey all the driving regulations in naija come to the uk and drive sensibly! you think i don't want to honk my horn playfully, run the lights, stick one arm out of the window, jump queues, etc like i do in naija? of course i want to but i know the consequences would be unpretty so i abide by the laws....

The second thing you have to learn is that, smacking do not dictate people's desires.
so why smack then? what is the essence of doing it? there should be a marked difference between smacked kids and unsmacked kids in the way they behave in the absence of their parents. however, you find out the smacked kid is as bad(if not worse) than the unsmacked kid!

But both can limit behaviours. That is the intent.
the limit in behaviour is pretentious. the limit in behaviour is because the kids don't want to be smacked not because they necessarily buy your bullshit! the moment these same kids smell an air of freedom in the university hostels, they become something else.... watch them when their parents visit, they would start removing nail polish, dress decently, remove their brazilian weave and quickly plait their hair to appear decent again!

It is pure silly to blame smacking for all ills of society or as the panacea for all problems of society
but how come our "smacked kids" grow up to become corrupt leaders in spite of the strict discipline. i am sure all our leaders and corrupt officials were all smacked - see how it has worked for us. now compare to their counterparts abroad and see the difference.......
if anything the smacking hardens us to become crooks in africa!

Start looking at economic, social, cultural and leadership. All part of systemic contributors to how a society functions.
charity starts from home......
i am assuming every kid in nigeria got one sorta strict discipline or the other either from school, home, church, mosque, etc - so how come we don't see the effect of this discipline when they grow up to effect a change in our society? at what point in their development do they forget the "strict discipline" meted to them by parents/guardians/teachers?

They smack in Singapore. Even the courts passes sentences of smacking for juveniles and it is one of the most advanced and structured countries in the world. So why have they not failed as a nation? So why would you blame smacking for any failures?
singapore is a nanny state - you cannot really call what they practise there democracy!
it's like a rich man's libya! the citizens are being bullied to live their life in a way their government wants it. which country in the world would fine you $1000 for dropping trash on the floor. connecting to a wifi hotspot in singapore equates to hacking - one could go to jail for that. is that what you want me to work with?

What makes singapore successful?
same thing that makes libya successful.
it's like dictatorship - chew bubblegum and pay $1000. is that even sensible?
annoying twats!

Look at the systemic structure - Economic, Social, Cultural and Leadership.
They also smack in Botswana. It is a lovely country. Tell me why.
what's lovely about botswana? grin
so you are saying if they don't smack in botswana, there would be a huge difference in the "loveliness" of the country?

Complex issues have complex explanations.
ok.....
but i need to be convinced smacking works!

mykali: ok...ok...i get it. Chelsea has no history, and so i have no right to chat about historical events with y'all, but now the point is, why can't y'all go have a League of your own and compete against yourselves? Manure vs Manure on every league day. no. that is not possible. in order to compete, you need other teams to show how strong you are. and as far as those teams have a right to compete in that league, they can also claim ownership to the league trophy if they happen to win it, no?
the idea was raised by the rich european clubs to form their own super league but then it means many of the bottom/mid-table clubs would cease to exist! look at chelsea for instance with their bird cage that can barely sit 40,000 spectators - how do you expect to break even with such weak followership?

You people should change the title of the thread. it annoys the rest of us. that is the only reason i came to a thread which i usually avoid.
if it irks you, go to the nearest chemist, buy cyanide and mix it with brown beans + a cup of garri! the premier league trophy is united's. we lost it by a point in 2010 and on goals difference in 2012 - otherwise united would have won the last 6 titles.

but if you don't, well...i'll only grumble and wait till the end of the season when another team wins 'your' league while you lot end trophyless again. wink
it's expected - we are the only set of fans in the league that can complain of the boredom that comes with success. go to the previous threads and see us talking about letting other teams win it cos it's getting boring. the trophy is on lease to city, united would claw their trophy back very soon. chelsea/mourinho era was scarier than this but fergie smashed them in the end. wenger's invincible era was frightening too until fergie killed their dreams.
mancini's obituary is so close i can touch it with my cue!

why would there be access? the admin officers handling examinations here have been drilled about honesty and dignity "without the cane". it's not like many of them are stinkingly rich but they won't trade their dignity for few wads of pounds! they were tutored without the cane and they abide by it till the day they die. of course, there are few bad eggs abroad too but not in the same obscene level like nigeria....

How come the same girl whoring in Naija will get to the UK where she has the powers to make her own money and will reduce it?
where is the market for her to do such nonsense? there has to be a buyer before such business can thrive, sagamite! picking up whores is illegal in the uk if she's not licensed. the cops here won't accept bribes and she would get banged up so it's natural for any naija hooker to reduce her whoring abroad - it's not like they wish so, the system does not allow it!

So it is an economic influence? The same as you will see in Eastern Europe or Thailand or any third world country where people are poorer?
i cannot connect the above with what's being discussed!

but 12 out of 20 represents 60%
without man utd, would chelsea and man city even have the chance to play in europe? lemme give you a bit of history...when english clubs were banned in europe for 5 yrs and the coefficient of the english league went to the pits, it was the consistent performance of man utd in europe that gave the english league to start having more than 2 clubs competing for the champions league.....otherwise the premier league would have been like the scottish league or the russian league and abramovic/abu dhabi would never have
been interested. in a nutshell, united gave the other english clubs "life" when the whole europe forgot you guys existed....

on top of that, the revenue made from various tv deals are shared fairly proportionately so as not to create a wide gulf between the top teams and the mediocre teams of those days which include chelsea, man city, etc. you guys could have been zaragoza or real betis level without man utd in this league - so when you come to this hallowed thread, pay respect to your godfathers. in fela's tune - me and you no dey the same category!

dayokanu: Hold on to him and let him move if necesary for free.

Bayern did the same to ballack when Madrid was chasing him and even man utd was offering him the captain armband.

bayern made a statement that they would never sell, We are not a selling club and he should wait out his contract.

When barca/Real came snooping for Ribery, Schweinsteiger and lahm same thing we told them BAYERN IS NOT A SELLING CLUB
different circumstances....
in this case, van persie made it clear he doesn't want to play @ arsenal again....if such situation arises in bayern or any other club, the club's hands would become tied. ribery, ballack and bastian did not release a statement that they didn't want to be in bayern munich - in other words, apples and oranges!

Sagamite: The goal of smacking kids in Africa is to mainly have respectful kids, studious kids and moral kids.

Other factors will impact these.

Be it peer pressure and western TV programmes for respect.

Demotivating teachers and school facilities for studiousness.

Economic hardship for morality.

But by and large, do the African disciplinary way achieve these (especially respect) better than Western way? Hell YEAH!
no, it does not -
the african disciplinary way has failed africa. the evidence is so blatant when you look at the moral decadence in nigeria tertiary institutions and even nysc camps.. what makes a kid raised in nigeria better morally than the ones raised abroad? go to examination centres in lagos and watch these "disciplined" african kids bribing and doing all sorta malpractises. go to female hostels and watch how whoring has been glorified...abeg, let's call a spade what it is....

there's a difference between hypocrisy and decency.....that a kid raised in naija does not discuss about sex in public does not mean she doesn't mutter it under her breath to herself. of course, when she sees uncle sagamite - she feigns innocence! whereas, the kid raised abroad would tell uncle sagamite to leave the bedroom for her cos she needs to sleep with her boyfriend. same intentions, one has the balls to express her feelings and the other cannot!!!
