ronkebp: Blame that on the leaders and politics, and just because we have a few bad eggs which will always be the case, does not mean that we still do not have our values. you should ask what the values were when young boys that have been taught in godly way, still join "cult" in the universities that will eventually take his life. Just because we have these ills in the Nation, does not mean that there are no good ones, infact a lot of good ones. which country does not ship out young girls for prostitution?. maybe (India).
so the leaders and politics are the reason university chics sleep with men old enough to be their grand-dads? the reason naija men delve into armed robbery?
come on - stop kidding me. you wouldn't convince a kid of 5 with that theory. the truth is the so-called naija values have been pretty ineffective! kids are just scared of their parents/guardians.
i read the comparisons you made in your previous comment about young girls dressing too trashy in america. believe you me, naija kids want to dress like that too and they would if also given the chance.

ronkebp: Now lets talk about the dress-codes, hmmmmmmm!!!! in Naija, before you even step out of the house, you will here all these muslim fanatics (even those that are not fanatics) and some christians too, asking you if you have parents at home before you stepped out in that outfit? the little kids (especailly in the morth) will sing and clap their hands after that person. now you will call that "lack of civilisation", true, but we are not the westerners, we have our own culture and the ways we are expected to present ourselves in public. Here!!! OMG.....the kids cannot wait for "summer", you will see them wearing panties out all in the name of dressing warm. there was a time i was driving back from work and i just saw this two very young girls, say, 14 yrs of age, if you see what they wore all in the name of exercising, omo!!! that girl was lucky that she was not my daughter, just for the fact that she taught to dress that way; she will be recieving a nice dirty slap, without my spoken words, will know better than to step out in that manner, you will see them with their "cheeks" showing....hmmm!!!!!shocked shocked :

the average american teenager (boys) think about sex 24 hrs a day.....reallyhuh?
but has this strict discipline worked in nigeria?
our country still ships the highest number of prostitutes to europe. the male youths are 419/yahoo-boys/armed robbers.
premarital sex is rife in the country - even worse than any of the developed countries you can mention.
so it begs the question - what is the essence of the naija value when it has not produced any positive impact amongst the youths?

claremont: They call it 'child abuse', we choose to call it 'instilling discipline'. Inasmuch as I'm totally against corporal punishments in this modern era, I still believe that the corporal punishments I received while growing up played a key role in making me a responsible adult today.

More research needs to be done on the benefits (if any) of this kind of punishments on the moral well-being of kids. Is it safe for us to posit that the reason why there is widespread moral decadence (drug abuse, teenage pregnancy e.t.c) amongst kids raised in Europe is partly as a result of the lack of corporal punishments whilst growing up. This is a delicate issue that needs further debate IMHO.
you could have been a more responsible adult without the punishments.

ocelot2006: You're totally wrong. Most Nigerian parents are very strict disciplinarians. But beating children with electric cables and hanging them is damn too much. And no Nigerian in his/her senses will accept that.
strict disciplinarian in nigeria = child abuser in the united kingdom.
if you apply the uk laws in nigeria, 99% of naija parents would be in jail eating beans.

ronkebp: it is best you taught the other guys that are complaining the advantages and disadvantages of using "materialistic babes". the benefits should be more. so that they will learn to grow-up and stop complaining.
as for the other guys, it's the hypocrisy they cannot stand. they believe a materialistic babe should say she's materialistic and she's only in it for the cash/material gain.
naija babes are too pretentious. an aristo chic would look you in the eye and swore on her siblings she's a virgin. what the fuck is that about?

Ola one: I like them very much. Easy peasy lemon squeezy ('member the commercial?)
absolutely!
the volume in nigeria is scary though. i remember visiting lagos some months back and this dude made a call and within 30 mins, a bus packed with uni girls surfaced from nowhere.
i was overwhelmed when i heard some others were even left behind as there was no space.

ronkebp: Well good for them. that is what happens when you marry the men because of the money they have to "throw around" in the first place, they would always extend the charity work to others "in need".
i like materialistic babes though. it makes it easier for some of us who are very busy with our jobs.
it's almost like hiring a hooker without a fixed price....no long stories, no hiccups.

montelik: does vidic have a delabilitating disease, he has yet to recover from? does this condition affect his ability to train consistently much yet play week to week?

totally different circumstances..
fletcher has completely recovered from his stomach sickness....what's in question is his match fitness.
he's been training with the scottish national team quietly and he played for 30 mins for man utd few days ago under the watchful eyes of fergie.
if he's not ready, the medical team wouldn't let him. as we speak, fletcher is ahead of smalling, evans and phil jones as far as starting a game is concerned.

ronkebp: Yes...Dayo, it will always be like that because "men" caused it. you will pay for the hair, buy her BB porsche, whether you like it or not. men started it, what are they complaining for? a guy on the 'ROMANCE SECTION" talked about how another guy who is just wooing his girlfriend bought her a car for her birthday. so what will you say to that?, do you know how some of these guys spoil their girlfriends?, who wouldn't want to be spoilt or pampered?. please stop complaining and just marry your akata or oyinbo jejely that will not be leeches... boys/men with the dough to throw around ain't complaining.
their wives/spouses are complaining though....

chamotex: Vidic doesn't have a medical condition.

Muamba just announced his retirement on medical advice.
vidic did his cruciates...his knee.
fletcher had stomach trouble...he doesn't play with his stomach, does he?
muamba's problem is a cardiac issue which of course is very crucial in any sporting activity.

fletcher played for 30 mins few days ago.....without a shadow of doubt, he's few weeks away.

The real problem is dat I sometimes blame her for Leading me on to a point dat it was very hard for me to turn back before tellin me d truth. Fine life has to go on but since the baby came, I'v been doing most of the chores and I still have to go and make the money. Its always " I'm attending to d baby, go and buy dis and dis come if u knw u want to eat after a long day.
Tried setting her up in a biz abt 6months ago with 200k but she can't account for it now plus she forced me to get a house help around dat time (she insisted on a male) and dat one carted away wit 50k and some valuable just after a week so I decided not to get another one.

Babies definitely on hold for now. We both seem to av fallen out of love, communication seem to av broken down and I don't even feel aroused be her anymore and she doesn't care
the cookie has finally crumbled then....
no communication, no feelings, no arousal - what a marriage!!!

Mma4luv: Hello nairalander's,i am married and i ve' little girl of a year and four months. My husband met me through my best friend whom is somehow related with my husband, though far relation, the relationship b/w the families were very cordial. After i got married to my husband,my best friend was staying with us until my husband developed a hatred on her,he was able to keep quiet until i was about to put to bed then he told my best friend that it's high time she left the house cos the house will not contain her any longer and the girl left. One day my husband told me to reduce my relationship with her and that got me annoyed cos i wonder how my husband will select my friends for me even my best friend i knew before him, because of my reaction,my husband then said i should quit the relationship.I told the girl about it and we maintained our relationship but i stopped calling her in my hubby's presence and she stopped comming to my house but my husband was never satisfied with that.As a result of this, the relationship between my husband and my best friends family went sour.To cut the story short, yesterday my husband told me that i will have to chose between him and my best friend and i told him that i chose my best friend since he has no reason what so ever to quit me and my best friend,i told him instead of quiting my best friend,i will quit my marriage cos if i allow him,he may soon stop me from all my friends. He then told me angrily that i can go on with the relationship that there is no problem. My husband's reason is that i respect the girl more than him and the girl's philosophy about life and marriage is tottaly different from mine.pls do i have the right to say no in this kind of issue since i know the girl cannot influence me in any way,cos she would have influenced my life over the years i knew her before i met him.Pls advice me
so you chose your friend over your husband? your husband is a fool cos if that was me, you're moving to your friends house that same day! what an ingrate you are? if your friend is errrrrrrrr responsible, she should be in her husband's house not driving a wedge between you and your own husband!

what if your friend is even trying to sleep with your hubby? you never thought of that? if your husband says you should detach yourself with your best friend, get a reason why he has said so and act accordingly! your husband is soft - woe betides any woman that tries such with me!

oluite: Growing up as a young girl,it was unheard of to live beyond your pocket money, questions will be asked if your hairdo was too expensive or you have what my mum calls 'unusuals' in your wardrobe or amongst your stuff.Accepting gifts from guys, wahala!!!There must be an acceptable explanation.Talk less of actually asking a guy for money. It was drummed into our ears you must have values,be contented, work hard,be independent et al.

Recently i was so embarrassed when some guys in my office where complaining about todays chics, a guy travelled with his girlfriend for a wedding,he paid all expenses.Suddenly the girlfriend sister and friend appeared in the airport expecting the guy to foot their travel expenses as they claimed to be stranded. These are all working class ladies.Of course no plan to pay back and his girl friend didn't see anything wrong in this arrangement.Another time,a young working class girl ended a relationship majorly because the guy couldn't give her a specific amount for her monthly upkeep. Please she knew exactly what he was earning as well and it wasn't so fantastic?!

I heard and seen many of such from young working women, only to come across a thread here with something similar.Mothers can we discuss this? How did this become the in thing today, where many working single women expect the men in their lives to foot all their bills? Maybe some women are not aware that this is not a good attitude and there should always be balance,boundaries....
the moral decadence in nigeria is peerless. the parents, religious leaders and the society don't care these days how the money is made! people have traded their ethics and moral values for their gluttony!

the men must share some of the blame too. nigerian men have gotten lazier too. they cannot be arsed again to go through the motions of chasing and courting - they pay express service to get the girls laid and move on to the next one....

kagawa is a cm - watch the game against hannover96....he played in a 2-man midfield!
fletcher is weeks away from getting a starting berth
anderson is fit as phuck - our best player in the preseason
scholes/giggs are veterans - they would play some part
powell is a newbie - he can do a job when called upon.
carrick is reliable
cleverley is rearing to impress!
phil jones can also do a job in that area of the pitch...

why the phuck do we need a new signing in the central midfield when we have 4 out n out wingers in young, nani, valencia and any of kagawa, giggs, cleverley and bebe??

It was "If a guy sits close to you, you will get pregnant" for me. Of course they had to change it when I went. . .wait a min but Muktar and Saliu and Yemi and Toks sits close to me all the time (Muktar, Saliu, Yemi and Toks are my cousins, brother and uncle) and I don't have a baby. cheesy

In retrospect, The "Errrrr. . .ehm. . .we mean any guy not related to you" shoulda tipped me off that something wasn't right but what can I say, I was eight and mom was the fountain of knowledge. cheesy
you can't blame them - that's their own way of protecting the kids! i doubt such tales would work again though. today's kids now watch animal planet and they see animals do their thingy!

Sagamite: The first bunch of kids I knew that were being raised using this youthful, niche, funkadelic parenthood were Queen's College girls.

In my time, they love to speak funky and were posh.

A great institution that used to churn out great alumni back in the days. Those were the old ones raised by proper African parents. Now, I don't even hear of their grads anymore, evident of the waste of the generation I knew, in my opinion.

Ah! Me, I am not funky o. I am your FADA!
private schools caught up with queens college and even shot beyond them. i doubt the school produce the same quality like they did in the 80s and 90s! the calibre of chics who would have attended queens college these days now go to corona, chrisland, lekki British school, british international school, etc.
