chamotex: England had the same run-in nto the last World Cup too.
They cruised through their qualifying group and warm up matches
Tourny started and the could only steal a narrow win against Slovenia.

England can't hack it at the big stage - simple
The only thing going for them is that no ones expects them to do well and probably the team might feel a little less pressure.
it's bad enough england don't have enough technical players in comparison
with their european counterparts, to leave the rolls royce players like
carrick and rio at home would be ugly to watch. roy hodgson would be doing
back to the wall defending a la chelsea in nou camp/allianz arena.........

so i really think dropping those players are for football reasons like he claims.
what we have are a buncha mechanical players. defend hard and look for breaks.
up in the air, hoping for a rebound - and score from it. that's what england
would be serving this summer.

montelik: We just agreed to sign the reigning Bundesliga player of the year. A midfielder who can play a number of different roles and positions, 23 y/o and fairly cheap. I see no reason to complain. He is more capable of playing central midfield than Sneidjer whom we were after most of last summer and no one here was concerned then.
is kagawa the bundesliga player of the season?
i thought it was robert lewandoski......

more capable of wes sneijder? not in a billion years.
there's no number 10 like sneijder in europe...he's a beast!

chic2pimp: They don't need to score many goals.
1 nil wins in their next 6 games would do them just fine.
Or How many goals do you think spain scored on their way to winning the World cup? 8. The so called "Best team and Most Beautiful team in the Universe" could only muster Eight goals.
That tells me a Win is a win.
With the way the dealt with spain when the two teams last met, their defence should do alright.
abeggi, with the way most teams put 11 men behind the ball against spain, no
team would score more than a goal. every team spain faced bar chile were out
to stop them instead of playing their own game....xavi and iniesta were particularly
disappointed that their opponents didn't let their fans enjoy the football but they
had to rise up to the challenge.

StarBoard: @coogar,
Spain or Germany, choose one.
I'd say aside Spain and Germany, the Euros dont have a clear favourite.
Even the Irish could get lucky like Greece in 2004(highly unlikely though).
I don't think the French are that good either but they should progress from the group stages.
The beauty of the Euros is that it's hard to pick a winner accurately. . .
spain - sergio busquets is my favourite player in europe! cool

dayokanu: I am not sure what Man Utd intend to do with Kagawa.

He plays in the hole behind a lone striker. In Dortmund their wingers are Grooskreutz and Gotze/Kuba Blazykowski

If Man Utd intend to use Kagawa in that same role that means either they are dumping 4-4-2 for 4-2-3-1 where Kagawa would be the middle man in the 3.

That would mean Man Utd plays with one striker (either Rooney, Chicharito or Welbeck)

I would wait till I see Kagawa in man Utd before I can make sense of this transfer
the only reason i would back the kagawa signing is because of lightning
striking twice with all our midfielders getting crippled at the same
time like last season when we had to go n beg paul scholes out of retirement.

even with that, the all-action box to box midfielder should have been our priority!
javi martinez, tiote or m'vila should have been our targets. can kagawa play in a 2-man
midfield?

dayokanu: Was it Man utd that taught Ronaldo or Rooney how to kick the ball? How come they are credited with their development
united can claim the credits. they signed the 2 players when they were only 18.
demba ba joined the bundesliga at 22....papiss joined @ 24.

spain also sodomised germany in the final of euro 2008 - they went on to win it.

Now 4llerubuntu is really going to choke.
Chelsea Will Add Hulk In Revamp

Chelsea have prepared a package worth £7 million a year over four seasons to tempt Hulk, the Brazil striker, to London as the European champions continue a comprehensive revamp of their squad.
The 25-year-old, at present with Porto, has agreed a deal that will earn him about £135,000 a week with representatives acting on behalf of Roman Abramovich and has intimated to Chelsea, as revealed by The Times last week, that he is prepared to submit a transfer request to the Portuguese club to force a move.
Chelsea are yet to agree a fee with Porto and are thought to have set a ceiling of about £30 million for the transfer — taking the total cost of the deal to £58 million, as well as a lucrative bonus scheme — although Porto remain adamant that they will not countenance his departure for less than £38 million
The push to sign both Hazard and Hulk — who would function as wide players in the 4-2-3-1 formation Torres favours — suggest that the Russian owner intends to be true to his word.

m'vila, tiote, martinez and roy keane should be our targets
not eden hazard or uncle kagawa.....

dayokanu: How many years did Demba Ba spend in France vs Germany?

How old was Demba Ba while in France?

How many caps did he have in France

Demba Ba who joined Hoff from division 2?
yes, it was in germany they taught him how to kick football.
up until then, ba has never kicked a ball in his entire life.
if bundesliga is so good, why is it taking them 11 yrs to win
the prestigious champions league? even after uefa allowed the germans
to host at their backyard, they still couldn't punch through a wet paper-bag.

you cannot tell me demba ba is a product of bundesliga...that statement is farcical....
demba ba joined bundesliga at 22....the same age hernandez joined man utd.
so if hernandez moves from england then hernandez is a premier league product? grin
once again, you disgrace football punditry claiming credits that are daft!

1025: @coogar,
if anyone here does not agree with ur opinion, he/she becomes a disgrace. insulting ppl directly is against the rules of this forum but it is unfortunate that chamotex(the able moderator) does not see posts like this one above.
going by ur judgements, it means wenger has not raised any player in his carrier because fabregas and other players were brought into arsenal and not from their academy.
ashley cole, jack wilshere, kieran gibbs, etc were stolen from la liga, isn't it?
cesc fabregas graduated from arsenal academy.
you have the mental capacity of a slug!

dayokanu: Thats another one Demba Ba, Who also hit the ground running both at West Ham which was a relegation team and cant be tagged a good team and also at Newcastle where he was behind Best in the pecking order at at beginning of the season

Another BL product who hit the ground running is what you guys have been creaming over Gylfi Siggurdson
how's demba ba a bundesliga product? all his years in france before
he joined bundesliga nko? sigurdsson whose formative years were
spent in reading, shewsbury and crewe alexandra(all in england) is
also a bundesliga product?

you're a disgrace to football punditry. grin

mbulela: I think Hodgson is trying a psychological warfare. He is trying to prove to Liverpool fans that he bears no grudge against them. cheesy
There is just no other explanation.
The presence of Kelly and Henderson on the wait list let alone the 23 man squad is proof that Hodgson has a very dark sense of humour.
Don't get me started on Downing.
Anyway, i am Oranje all the way this summer.
i want an underdog team to do well....
croatia, portugal or denmark in the early rounds

spain when it gets hot...i have always liked spain.
busquets, xavi, iniesta and cohorts are the masters of the game.

germany might actually win it. they have the best crop
of players but then klose is jinxed.

dayokanu: How long did it take Ronaldo to light up the EPL and how long did it take pappis?
Ronaldo took about 3 seasons which he would have learn something or two from the new team, Pappis lit up the league within days of signing
before pappis joined, demba ba was doing the business before pappis....
pappis came on board and continued where demba stopped. that tells me one thing.
both players lead the attack of a good team. it wasn't like newcastle were scraping
the barrel before papiss....they were doing very well before his arrival so tell
me another story.

so the dutch league was better than the premier league when van nistelrooy joined united in 2001? grin
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Euro 2012 All-Action Thread by coogar: 1:53pm On Jun 04, 2012
StarBoard: This is just to officially announce that Roy Hodgson doesn't have a clue as to what managing a senior national side is all about.
If you're going to replace Cahill, why Martin Kelly?
Isn't there a Micah Richards sitting idly somewhere;a better defender than Kelly will be in the next 5 years:who can play CB and Rb?
Again, what's up with stocking the side with deadweight Liverpool players?First Henderson, now this nonentity.
Is Gerrard already manipulating him(Hodgson)?
roy hodgson is a tool....a geriatric tool!
he's trying to appease liverpool fans by choosing all their players for the f@cked up
job he did with them some seasons ago.

in countries where football is taken seriously, the top 2 clubs in the league would
be the major suppliers of the players in the national team. in england, we have liverpool
who finished 8th supplying dross players like henderson, kelly, downing, caroll.

i mean, downing with 0 goals and 0 assists in the premier league all season got a mention
before lennon? henderson ahead of carrick or cleverley? kelly ahead of ferdinand, micah richards?
it would be unheard of in spain for osasuna to have more players in the national squad than
barcelona and real madrid.

england is a joke....the laughing stock of europe. i cannot wait for france and sweden
to send them packing. this is the weakest squad england have had to send into a tournament.
a midfield of parker, gerrard and milner are begging to be eaten up.

StarBoard: This criteria doesn't cut it for me.
The same Pappise Cisse didn't show up at the Nations Cup earlier this year.
Using an nternational competition to rate a league based on player performance is subjective.
I'd prefer the Cup competitions across Europe.
don't mind the idiot....a player leaves an average side in bundesliga and joins
a highly rated team in england and dayo would then say this player from bundesliga
is killing them in the english league. by dayo's daft logic, ronaldo coming from
portugal to blaze the epl must mean the portugese league is better than the premier
league.

Short term I don't give a hoot.

StarBoard: Injuries are inevitable in any season and can occur at any time of the season.
Nemanja Vidic's injury wasn't due to our medical staff.
Neither was Owen Hargrwaves, as even City couldn't help him.Darren Fletcher's case too can't be blamed in medical personnel.
Just pointing that out just so you can realize its not just down to medical/back room staff.
how many of our players got injured in comparison to city? arsenal? chelsea?
now take a look at the previous seasons as well. our medical staff or fergie's
stubbornness to play 4-4-2 is the reason our players drop like flies......

city lost 4 players to injuries all season, united lost 19 or 21....

StarBoard: I've been an advocate of either of Javi Martinez (already in talks with City) or M'Vila for our midfield.Either of those two would be gems in our midfield.
I'm not feeling this Kagawa link.Great player but not what we need.
I saw Hazard yesterday and though it's not an indicator to use to assess him, I think he's not worth the hype and twitter noise he was making.
we need a destroyer....that is all.
any fit personnel that can replace owen hargreaves in that hole
between the defence and midfield is ok. if city gets martinez
and yaya toure in their midfield, it would be a big blow.

martinez and yaya shielding kompany and hart is impregnable.

StarBoard: "we will get our trophy back".
Interesting headline.
I'm not sure that will be possible the way things are right now.
Even the manager is haggling over player prices like a confused market woman
buying players does not guarantee success.....having them fit is the key!
the only changes needed is our medical team to be fired or restructured.
if we keep 80% of the senior squad fit, united are good enough to win the league
with the present squad but that is not likely. i expect half of the squad to get
injured when the season kicks off again.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 3:31pm On Jun 03, 2012
get anderson, fletcher, vidic and cleverly running
and i am ready to challenge. the fans clamouring for
eden hazard were disappointed yesterday when hazard couldn't
punch through a wet paper-bag at wembley last night.

it was our boys ashley young(assist) and danny welbeck(goal)
who starred last night....i keep reiterating hazard isn't a step
better than young, nani(who scored a good goal last night) and
valencia.....if fergie signs m'vila or javi martinez and jordi
alba....we would walk the league.
