dayokanu: Mukina laughing is an evidence? How unsmart
39 min Is it me or is Mario Gomez a bit of a donkey? He has just missed another chance. Robben's excellent lobbed pass freed Ribery on the left of the box. He shanked his shot across goal, and Gomez miscontrolled it eight yards from goal at the far post. It was a nasty ball to deal with – pacy and bouncing – but I know what Lionel Messi or Carlton Cole would have done with it.

42 min: GOMEZ MISSES AGAIN! What a chance this is! The move began Robben moved infield from the right and stabbed a short pass towards Muller. He fell over under a challenge from the increasingly clumsy Luiz right on the edge of the area – that might have been a penalty, you know, although I'd like to see it again – and the ball ran square to Gomez. He dummied Cahill expertly to create a clear shooting opportunity ... and then blootered it into orbit from 12 yards.

46 min Welcome to part two of The Comedy Stylings of Mario Gomez, in which a German striker misses 47 sitters before Chelsea win the European Cup through a last-minute goal from Frank Lampard. What's the German for Carroll?

nateevs: On the contrary, you are the one isolating games.
Arsenal have finished at least fourth over the past 7 seasons. That's a testament to walking over these resilient teams more times than not. These scenarios you mention are isolated.

Inter, Chelsea, are "the isolated events". Mention 2, 3, 5, teams in recent memory who have won the CL not playing good football?
how many times have arsenal beaten stoke in the premier league?
that's not isolated....that particular fixture is a pain in the
neck for wenger particularly at the britannia stadium.

how many of the big teams won @ the britannia this season? none!
that is not isolated or coincidental. the resilent teams are very
difficult to beat when they set their stall to be unbeaten.

it should but the referee blew way before he scored....

portugal's problem is lack of a world class centre-forward

dayokanu: A penalty is a chance you get vs the keeper alone no one rushing you

For example in that final, which chance did Gomez miss that he was free with only the keeper and no defender rushing him
you're funny....there are chances in open play that if a player misses is worse
than missing a penalty. penalty is from 12 yards and a keeper in position.

which is more difficult to score? torres' miss against man utd or
schweinsteiger beating cech in position from 12 yards?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by coogar: 8:06pm On Jun 09, 2012
nateevs: Dude it's all about the setup. Suckers for English football don't see football any other way.
The obsession with winning 50-50s, midfield battles, defending deep, makes you think football is science.

Do Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets, Sergio, Alcantara look like midfielders who "can win midfield battles" ?
But they win battles except in a way unfamiliar to many. They win the midfield battle "attacking".

Hell Atletic Bilbao won the midfield battles over two legs against United.
Valencia destroyed supposedly one of the most resilient teams in the PL - Stoke.
These guys are not built like tanks, yet they run English teams to the ground in midfield.

Football is an art and there are more than one way to reach your goal.
While many believe that sliding tackles and power play is the way to win midfield battles, there are others who believe possession and zonal pressing, even with seemingly little and weak footballers, is the way to win it.
how come these resilent teams batter arsenal fc(the closest team to barcelona)
everyday of the week? how did chelsea manage to eliminate barcelona over 2 legs?
for every highly technical team that has beaten the mechanical one, i can bring out
5 mechanical teams that have beaten the artistes of the game. stop isolating games
like stoke/valencia....bilbao/man utd!

inter won the champions league in 2010 destroying teams of artistes like barcelona and bayern!

dayokanu: Dont these same dead ball takers like Rooney, Vab persie , Ronaldo take penalties? And who does penalty stats favour?
there are more free-kicks taken than penalties....and they still miss these penalties
messi missed like 8 in the concluded season...you cannot compare the shots ronaldo
take from 20-40 yard freekick to the chances gomez has missed in the 6-yard box.

both would count as shots off target but the difficulty level of ronaldo's
shots are much higher than that of gomez. that is the point i am trying to
raise. some of gomez's misses in the final against chelsea are even worse
than missing a penalty.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Euro 2012: Denmark Vs Portugal (2 - 3) Group B Match: On 13th June 2012 by coogar: 7:54pm On Jun 09, 2012
sleekdot: Bring any stat you have out. and lets see. Gomez doesnt take any setpiece. he isnt even the choice penalty taker So what other strikers gain from Penalties he loses. yet he outscores them all.

The number of goals scored per shot bring it out. I brought one out and was banned by the spambot fot it
Mukina, Dayokanu was banned pls release me
you don't get it.....the players who take set pieces(chiefly freekicks) don't
score from every kick they take but those set-pieces still count as shots
attempted. in that wise, the stats would favour gomez whose goals are purely
from open play.

dayokanu: Show us all European strikers goal per shots taken And you would notice that Gomez is top 5

Possibly higher than Van persie
but that would be tedious.....some of these strikers are
set-piece takers which gomez isn't. ronaldo takes about
30 freekicks per game...and they all count as shots!

gomez doesn't.....so we won't get anything credible
unless we isolate those shots and take out the ones
from open play and compare to gomez's. van persie,
rooney, ibra, messi, ronaldo are set-piece takers.

bazillion of goals.

ritchboy: Rubbish. Let's even assume this is true, the mandate of an AM is not to "hold position". While Cesc will be busy supplying assists and making good runs into the area to score goals, Xavi would be too preoccupied "holding position", maybe he is too disciplined!
this is tournament football.....the difference between winning and losing
is a fine line: things like giving the ball away. that was what ruined
cesc against barcelona @ nou camp when he was still a gunner.
cesc is more likely to give the ball away with his risky/hollywood passes
than xavi and iniesta.

https://www.threadbombing.com/data/media/2/tumblr_l9lgi6vkKr1qzx2fh.gif
pass completion stats
92.4% - xavi
92.7% - thiago
91.9% - seydou keita
91.5% - busquets
89.7% - iniesta
88.1% - xabi alonso
86.9% - cesc

as far as passing the ball is concerned, cesc is the worst midfielder
in barcelona. xabi alonso even posts a better passing stats.

I see Nateevs is still living in la la land thinking signing Hazard/Hulk/Marin means Chelsea "will never need to defend as deep as we did" forgetting teams with better offensive units(i.e Man City) still come to the Emirates and camp in their 6-yard box. Abi how will Hulk and Hazard help you win midfield battle against Song-Arteta-Wilshere huh

Coogar also thinks Rivaldo, Kaka and Figo aren't skilful cheesy

ritchboy: Bontee is just saying what I've been telling Coogar and co for the last four years:

CM: Xavi > Cesc
AM: Cesc > Xavi

If Spain are going to be playing with two holding midfielders(Xabi/Sergio), Cesc(or even Silva/Iniesta) is clearly a better option behind the CF but Xavi will obviously "pull rank" on them. The end result is lots of possession with little cutting edge which Cesc and co woulda revved up.

Ideally Xavi should play alongside one of Busquets/Alonso cos he's still the best at what he does in that area of the park.
cesc has no discipline to hold position, xavi does.
cesc cannot retain possession, xavi can.
it's a no brainer....xavi must always start...

I was with my gf in her friends house and some people were calling her to come and see them,in her house ,i was suspicious and i carried her there and it was her ex bf. According to her he started cheating on her after he bought a car and she cut the r/ship ,this was about 7 months ago, before i came into the scene. The guy has been wanting to come back but the girl refused . So today he came with a friend . Though we didn't met the friend when we came. My girl pleaded that i should give her time to talk with her ex. I gave her thirty minutes and they went out and stayed almost 4hrs and when they came back to her house around 12 a.m. The guy refuse to goto his house that their gate would have been locked by then. And refused that the girl will follow me home.the person my girl is staying with ,only her boy of about thirteen year is around and is a heavy sleeper and didn't wake to open the door for her. So we have to keep a wake keep at their passage till around 2 a.m when i left to goto my house and sleep so that i can goto work today. My girl has told the guy that she is now with me.the guy said that that should be from tomorrow that this night he will not respect that. I have gone over the incidents in my head trying to see how i could have done better. May be i should have asserted myself more. If i had known initially before leaving her friends house that it was to see her ex, i would not have allowed her . But the deed is done . Has any experienced such before and how did you handle it. My r/ship with the girl is about 3 months old and all three of us are in our late twenties. Will they do anything behind my back . According to my girl he wanted her to follow him home but she refused.what would you have done in my shoes ?

The wife and lovedones on hearing the ill fated dana plane crash that ad no survivours cried so bitterly over the loss of her husband.
