PoliticsRe: Jonathan Cannot Win In 2015 – Dokubo-Asari by Coolboi05(m): 11:03pm On Nov 30, 2013
One of the biggest supporters and kinsman of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, has declared that the president has lost the support of his political base, the South-south and the South-East owing to the failure of his government to deliver on its promises.
Dokubo-Asari, at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, said that it would be tough for Jonathan to win the presidential election in 2015 if he decides to run based on the poor showing of his administration.
He said that his decision to speak out was for him and others who are ardent supporters of Jonathan not to be blamed for his failure in 2015.
He said: “I want to start with an Ijaw proverb, which says: the eyes watched its seven children to death. Instead of advising them, it was just looking at them until they died, while the mouth talked its only child to life and success.
“We have continued as Ijaw people and the entire Niger Delta and South-South to support the presidency of President Goodluck Jonathan, but a time has come when silence cannot be golden.
“We mainly speak out in issues that are very critical to the survival of our people, the survival of the people of the South-South and the South-East, which happens to be the political base of Goodluck Jonathan.
“Jonathan is surrounded by very greedy people who are only in the Presidency to enrich themselves at the expense of Goodluck himself.
“This brings us to another Kalabari proverb, which says: where there are elders, a goat cannot be allowed to deliver tied to a stick.
“If we don’t talk and we continue to brush it aside, tomorrow we will be blamed and people will say: Mujahid Dokubo-Asari was around when Goodlcuk Jonathan was president and he didn’t talk.
“Them I will be an accomplice and accessory after the fact….
“It is alarming because the South-South must have its uninterrupted eight years tenure, which is constitutional.
“But with how things are going under Jonathan’s watch, we are afraid that we may not be able to have our eight years tenure because there will be no magic about it if it is going to be one man one vote.”
Dokubo-Asari said he will continue to speak out despite the fact that he had benefitted from Jonathan, adding that one of those causing trouble for the President remains the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Chief Godsday Orubebe.
He said: “I have benefited immensely from Goodluck Jonathan with my stake but benefit alone is not enough to make me to keep quiet when the period is very challenging for our people.
“So, some of us are tempted to ask this question: why are all these things happening?
“Why has the President allow some ministers like Godsday Orubebe to continue in government?
“Everyday people die on the East-West Road.
“If Orubebe is incompetent as he has shown himself to be, he should be removed.
“Nobody voted for Orubebe.
“And why is Orubebe so important to the President that he can’t remove him even in the face of his obvious incompetence and several allegation to corruption?
“We feel very ashamed and embarrassed.
“Orubebe was one of us.
“He was attending meetings with us, sleeping in the ground with us, entering night bus with us and we nominated him to be appointed a minister.
“We have gone to him and complained to him that we don’t like they way things are going in his ministry and told him that if the President leaves in 2015 without the completion of the East-West Road, we are finished.
“And the man keeps telling us there is no money.
“When IBB (former military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida) was there, there was money.
“When Abacha was there, there was money.
“When others were there, there was money.
“How come the money disappeared when Jonathan got there?
“Jonathan and orubebe will account for the death in the East-West Road.”
On the face-off between Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Dokubo-Asari said there was no need for it.
He said that no matter what Jonathan feels, he still remains a beneficiary of Obasanjo’s large heartedness.
He said: “First, there was no need for Goodluck Jonathan to disagree with Olusegun Obasanjo.
“I don’t like Obasanjo.
“I don’t like his face.
“I hate him.
“But he was instrumental in bringing Goodluck Jonathan to power.
“And the greedy people around Jonathan have not managed him enough to the extent that the President and people around him will allow Jonathan to disagree with Obasanjo openly.
“And if you check, all the people who supported Goodluck Jonathan and fought to bring him to power, have openly disagreed with him.
“What was the cause of these disagreements?
“These are the questions we want to put to the president.
“Some people say Obasanjo is manipulating Goodluck Jonathan, that is why Jonathan is disagreeing with him and we ask: what has Goodluck Jonathan’s government achieved to show that it is a departure from other governments that have existed since 1956?
“For us, nothing has changed.
“It is still business as usual.
“So what are the advice that Obasanjo gave to Jonathan that were so difficult for him to fulfill, that made him decide to fall out with Obasanjo?
“Obasanjo was instrumental and manipulated the process that illegally removed Diepreye Alamieyeseigha as governor of Bayelsa State and installed Jonathan as governor, made him vice president, fought for him to become acting president and also fought for him to become president of Nigeria.
“Apart from Obasanjo, there are so many people who supported Goodluck Jonathan, some have been pushed out by those who were not there to give him any support, while some others are trapped and they cannot talk.
“Monkey no fine, but the mama like am.
“But then if the ugly monkey becomes so rascally, the mother will desert it because if the mother continues liking the ugly monkey in it rascality, she too will die with the ugly monkey.
“After all she has more than one monkey child.”

Education"Sack Threat Will Only Worsen The Strike"-ASUU by Coolboi05(op): 7:23pm On Nov 28, 2013
IBADAN – The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said the threat by the Federal Government to sack university lecturers would not only fail but also worsen the situation and “another long path to make the strike linger more than necessary.”
With the threat, ASUU said it was evident now that the Federal government was not ready to implement any resolutions it reached with the union.
“It is a pity if the federal government is not willing to perfect the resolutions reached with union. This is why we find it difficult to trust our leaders by their words. How can someone be threatening to sack lecturers when universities are already short-staffed by almost 60,000. We are not in Military era. The Military tried it and failed. This one will fail again.” ASUU said.

PoliticsBewary Of People Like Akpabio, Nyako Tells Jonathan by Coolboi05(op): 12:51pm On Nov 26, 2013
By Soni Daniel, Regional Editor, North
The seven aggrieved governors of the People’s Democratic Party, yesterday faulted Governor Godswill Akpabio over his claim that the governors could face possible rebellion from their followers if they moved to the All Progressive Congress.
Akpabio told state House corespondents in Abuja after an official engagement with President Jonathan that it was wrong for the rebel governors to threaten to leave the PDP for another party without showing respect to the President.
Akpabio said, “I believe that you cannot be a good leader unless you’re a good follower and I believe also strongly that leadership comes from God. So the question of rebelling against leadership does not occur because if I rebel against the leadership at the federal level, I should expect somebody also to rebel against my leadership at the state level, maybe from my own local government or thereabouts.
“And it is expected that as a governor state, I should be expected respect the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. So it is not important who occupies the position. I think what is important is to give respect to the institution of the presidency in Nigeria. And that way, the international community can respect also Nigeria.
“I don’t see a problem in the issues of certain politicians wanting to change party, it is a normal thing in politics that people move from one political party to the other.
” But what is important is that we move on and the country moves on. And as PDP is very big and robust enough, with its branches in 774 local government areas in Nigeria, if you have five persons moving awY from PDP, you have 10 to 50 moving into PDP.
“You know, there are so many APC members who are approaching me on a daily basis that they want to move into PDP but I keep telling them that it is not yet time, let us resolve this issue of G-7 governors and then you see the big fishes that will come out of the APC. They are ready to come out and when they come out, it is going to be a boom. It something that the entire country will shout.
But the G-7 governors said the declaration by Akpabio, who is the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, amounted to an incitement of Nigerians against them and asked Mr. President to take note of the statement.
The governors, who spoke through the Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, noted with dismay the declaration of war on them by Akpabio and wondered who made him lord over them.
Nyako said, “Mr. President should be wary of people like Akpabio who wants to chase away other Nigerians from him so that he alone would be seen as a loyalist.
“Mr. President should note the outburst by the Akwa Ibom governor and call him to order before he causes more people who would have been of help to him to ditch him,” Nyako said.
The governors restated their aversion to the leadership of the PDP, saying that what the party has been doing amounted to a disservice to the members and Nigerians.
“PDP as presently constituted does not promote justice and equity but constitutes a major setback to democracy. Indeed, the current PDP can best be described as the enemy of democracy.
“The leadership started by substituting its Anambra governorship candidates’ names in Abuja and ended disowning it’d candidate even after INEC had owned up to a dismal election that was seriously sabotaged.
The PDP has lost its voice in democracy and now constitutes an enemy of what is just and honest,” the governors noted.

My village in Anambra state has tarred roads, it has portable drinking water, petrol station, gas station, many small scale industries even the micro-finance/community bank in my village is bigger than most new generation banks in cities a private University not so far away and other big Govt. institutions and Agencies which i'll not mention before you decode where i am talking about. i'll not talk about the private buildings because houses you find in my village are better than that you find in Maitama. Politics24 Year Old Nabbed For $42,497 Fraud! by Coolboi05(op): 12:29pm On Nov 22, 2013
BY EVELYN USMAN
LAGOS — Operatives of the Special Fraud Unit, SFU, Milverton Road, Ikoyi, Lagos have arrested a 24-year-old man who posed as a lady to defraud a United States of America couple of $42,497, purportedly for the purchase of a property in Lagos.
The suspect, identified as Olafinraye Adedamola, admitted the offence while being paraded yesterday.
He was said to have connived with a Malaysian lady to defraud the couple. The Malaysian lady, according to him, was hisFacebookfriend, adding that he had intended to use the money to further his studies in a tertiary institution.
How he was arrested
Explaining how the artisan who trained in aluminum works was arrested, spokesperson for the unit, Ngozi Isintume-Agu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said: “An intelligence report dated September 24, 2013 from Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), Abuja addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Special Fraud Unit (SFU) alleged that one Olafinraye Adedamola opened a USD Domiciliary Account No. 273/6980678251/0 with the Demurin, Ketu, Lagos Branch of Sterling Bank Plc and through suspicious circumstances, cumulative sum of USD 42,497 was paid into the account by unsuspecting victims abroad between August 13, 2013 and September 16, 2013.
The suspect, Olafinraye Adedamola
“The suspected illicit inflows were followed by immediate cash withdrawals by the suspect who appeared to have no known affiliation with the international depositors.
“SFU operatives swung into action and investigation carried out on the domiciliary account revealed that $18,129.92 is still left in the account and a lien was immediately placed on the account.
“The suspect was traced to his house at 7, Agidi Road, Oshogun, Alapere, Ketu, Lagos but he evaded police arrest and his father, a proprietor of a moribund driving school, feigned ignorance of his son’s whereabouts. However, the fleeing suspect was later apprehended by the Police.
“Olafinraye Adedamola who posed as a lady named Janet was born in 1989 in Kosofe LGA Ketu, Lagos.
“An artisan who trained in construction of aluminum but currently a driving instructor in his father’s moribund driving school located in Ketu, Lagos claimed he met a Nigerian at a conference in Malaysia who introduced him to the victim who requested that he purchased property for him in Nigeria which was the basis for the disbursement of the money into his account and that he had already bought a building at Ogba, Ikeja for N4 million and that the documents were with him.”
I intended to further my studies with the money— Suspect
Adedamola who noted that this was his first attempt, said he first met the couple onFacebookand in the course of their discussion, booked for a meeting in Malaysia.
According to him; “I posed as Janet on theFacebook, using a white woman’s photograph. I told the couple that I was an estate manager and convinced them to buy property in Lagos.
“Since they have not been to Nigeria, they asked us to meet elsewhere and when I stumbled on a business conference that was holding in Malasia, I booked the meeting.
“On reaching Malaysia, I told aFacebooklady friend to pose as Janet after telling her what to say. That was how the deal was struck and they paid the dollar equivalent of N3.4 million into my account. I intended to use the money to further my studies because I am determined to be a graduate. I used part of the money to travel again to Malaysia for leisure in August.
“My regret is that I was caught at the end because I used my genuine data to open the account. I guess it was because it is my first time.”
The suspect, according to Isintume-Agu, will be charged to court.
