I (unfortunately) stumbled upon some clips on YouTube a couple of weeks back. Namely: The scenes of people getting ripped apart by the bomb, the scene of the ragged walking corpses, and the lengthy close up of the mother's face after the baby, well...you know.

I can handle gore but that final scene made me decide to stay away from the movie.

Just watch it in the broadcast order. That's the same order the books were produced. It was the intention of the author for the viewer to piece the story fragments together.

The Houseki no Kuni manga started in October 2012, while Steven Universe began airing May 2013. Nevertheless, the similarities between the shows end at the main characters being genderless anthropomorphic gems.

Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous) is definitely a hidden gem (no pun intended) in the anime community, especially in this part of the world. It follows the lives of a group of anthropomorphic gems that reside in some sort of post-apocalyptic earth, where they fend off strange lunar spirits that try to take them away. The narrative focuses on the the growth and character development of the youngest member, Phosphophyllite who tries to find her (they are actually genderless) purpose despite being the most brittle of the bunch. So yeah, it's a coming-of-age story, but it's quite different from what we are used to.

One more thing, it's a cg animated and it doesn't look like shit. Unbelievable, right?

An easy 8/10.

Download emulators and play old games. Download lightweight games that can run on a 4gb ram laptop (Undertale, and Skullgirls are well indie titles). Download visual novel games, since you're an anime fan, Doki Doki Literature Club and Angels of Death are popular titles. Popular anime like Steins ; Gate and the Fate franchise were adapted from visual novels.

Emulators, old games, and torrent sites are your best bet for cheap gaming. Good luck!

Really enjoyed it. It stayed true to the OVA and manga. Nice action sequences, although not as good (or violent) as the manga or OVA. Waaay better characterization than the OVA. Typical James Cameron special effects: spectacular (those eyes) to the point where it becomes overbearing (the crying scenes were kinda weird).

All in all a successful anime adaptation. I feel it was held back by the PG-13 rating a bit. Adapting a gritty 80s manga into a movie that isn't R rated would definitely reduce the impact of its action scenes. The movie tried to push the boundaries and is more brutal than the average marvel movie but that just isn't good enough when you're adapting a manga where enemies routinely get chopped to bits.

And oh, yeah they made the cyborg blood blue in this movie.


I'll give it a 7.5/10.

It was ok. It was different. The robot girl was waifu bait. It had some good episodes, especially the one where she was hanging out with the kids. But the second half of the show dropped the ball.

Studio 3Hz come up with ambitious projects only to fvck them up in some fashion. I still have high hopes for them, though.

Back in the 90s anime dubs were trash. This has changed a lot in the new millenium as anime has gotten more mainstream. Unfortunately weebs never want to give dubs a chance and it's unfair, there are a lot of very good dubs and a lot of ok ones.

The truth is they take care of themselves and their appearance a lot. Beauty is one of the selling points in their society so it is of utmost importance.

Skin care routines and beauty hacks are like breakfast, lunch and dinner.

If one is a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon in Korea, the person is made.

I lurk around the Asian beauty community on reddit. They have 7-10 step routines that they use. Just waiting to hammer.

I need someone here to recommend me some good horror anime, and also good short anime series of anyother genre with at most 50 episodes.

Horror anime are never really that scary. That doesn't mean that they can't be interesting though.

1. Shiki (genuinely scary vampire story. Has weird graphics though).

2. Higurashi: Why they cry.

3. Perfect Blue (absolute classic by Satoshi Kon. This movie inspired Black Swan).

4. Serial Experiments Lain (not a horror anime but one of the anime that creeped me out).

5. Parasyte: The Maxim.

6. Akira (another classic movie, not really horror but has some disturbing imagery).

7. Devilman Crybaby (I don't really rate this super highly but it will give you your fix of uncensored sex and violence, you can thank Netflix for that).

8. Hell Girl.

9. High School of the Dead.

10. Hellsing Ultimate.

For the non-horror:

1. Steins ; gate (Sci-fi, time travel story. Starts slow, ends with a bang)

2. Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica (don't be fooled by the cutesy moe art style, out the first three episodes. This is actually a very dark and depressing show).

3. One-punch Man (Funny show about a guy who beats everybody with one punch. Pokes fun at superhero tropes).

4. Code Geass Lelouch of Rebellion (It's a hell of a ride this one, doesn't always make sense but never fails to intrigue. The most beautiful train wreck I've ever seen).

5. Baccano! (basically a Quentin Tarantino film in anime form. If you enjoyed Django Unchained, Kill Bill, Inglorious Basterds, etc. You'll really enjoy this one. Try to get the dubbed version).

6. KonoSuba (Funniest isekai ever. Character dynamic is incredible. Never fails to get a laugh out of you).

7. Houseki no Kuni or Land of the Lustrous (just to show you the vast diversity of the anime world I had to include this. One of the most aesthetically pleasing anime I'm recent times. Good plot, likable characters. Fantastic character dynamic).

8. Prison School (ecchi comedy, don't watch this around kids. Crude, dirty, but extremely funny).

9. Shimoneta (last comedy, I swear. This anime is a satirical take on censorship and moral hysteria over sexual imagery. Try to get the dubbed version).

10. Samurai Champloo (easy-going samurai story taking place in the Edo period but inexplicably merges that with hip hop culture. From the maker of Cowboy bebop, which you may also want to check out).
