I expect this to be positive for the banks. The net effect of the TSA directive and today's reduction in CRR is a net banking system credit of over N200 billion. More money for banks to play with!!! grin grin
Yes quite a positive for banks though more so for some than others. If the TSA and CRR reduction was nothing short of currency exchange, then I think it is pertinent to note what banks had relatively high FG dollar deposits and also those that had relatively small exposure to public deposits smiley smiley

pls house is it ok buying FLOURMILL @ 23? (for d long term)
Buying @ 20 was my initial target but i ended up buying @ 22+ last week but sold it today. i was simply speculating on price movements when i bought. Things might turn around for the company or some good news in the future...but as for now i am unaware of any good news even the rights offer @ 27.50 has not impressed investors and shareholdrs alike

I remember a statement in the movie, "Wolf Of Wall Street". A character said 'Nobody know which direction a stock is gonna go, i don't care if you're Warren Buffet, or Jimmy Buffet, Up,Down,Sideways or in ******* circles'.

Nigerian Stocks and their All Time High...

Really interesting to note that apart from GTbank the only other stocks (trading before 2008) that outperformed the index (06/02/2015) were all in consumer goods...

In other words, the negative impact to your portfolio now had you not sold from say 2007 till date (06/02/2015) would have been relatively minimal if you had only such stocks as NESTLE and INTBREW

but what is more interesting to note is if you had in your portfolio only NSEASI you would have done far much better compared to having only FBNH in your portfolio!!! shocked

It also shows that the NSEASI was simply buoyed by the fresh listing of companies. lipsrsealed

Conclusively without being assertive, if the NSEASI were to reach its 2008 peak of 66,371 (according to Elia147's table) it would not carry along other 'failed stocks' with it to reach their old prices (that is towards overall recovery) it simply would do so (that is progress) on the back of CONSUMER GOODS and mainly new listings i.e. TELECOMS and DEPOSITARY RECEIPTS. smiley

*top performers like Dangcem are noted

I dont think its wavering. The movement has been sluggish all along. Like 2-3% everyday. Only problem is shareholders who have had some significant gains may want to take their money and run, stock price crashes.
You think it will be headed up this week bah? cool

While some anticipate CRR decrease, we must take into consideration CBN's tight monetary policy. Is the TSA only to drive transparency and fight corruption, might currency depreciation not be the fundamental issue underlying this move by the CBN? A 20% CRR?? Let's wait and see...

...but our concern should be the impact on the stock market if the reduction is below expectation. I guess we already know the answer. wink

Not impossible, but with what is starting to unfold in syria (middle east) you know with the US and it's allies last minute intervention "airstrikes against ISIS targets" lipsrsealed and Russia's sudden military buildup; in a couple of months we might see the crisis escalate and won't this cause a sharp increase in oil price

Thursday, Sept 3 : 29,383.77 (Bottom)

Thursday, Sept 10: 29,403.12 (Bottom)

Note that this trend can be disrupted anytime. Positive or negative news inflow might disrupt or confirm this. Interesting to note that Fed meeting ends on 17th. Just take note. It is dangerous to rely on only one type of analysis, be it Tech Analysis, Fundamental Analysis, Sentiments Analysis, Tumbum Tumbum Analysis, Spiritual/Prophetic Analysis etc grin cheesy grin
Yeah i checked it out on NSE; it is definitely forming a rectangle can't tell yet if it's a turning point for a reversal or simply a continuation. A breakout should tell us what pattern is forming...

InvestmentRe: How To Turn A Penny Into A Fortune by cornwall: 9:43am On Jun 18, 2015
This is compounding which is truly magical; it brings about growth in principle and ROI. However, one has to be careful since there is the possibility of a loss, knowing continuous gain is not a guarantee. You must therefore bank some of your winnings, so why not remove 50% of the principle after your first winnings, etc.
For example:

Principle = 200, ROI = 140, Banked = 100
Returned principle = 240, ROI = 168, Banked = 220
Returned principle = 288, ROI = 201.60, Banked = 364

The money being banked is what is truly yours!

But the casino owners will want you to keep reinvesting everything and not taking any of your winnings out. Why? Why else do you think?
