I present 5 reasons why your name may not be on the NYSC mobilization list yet. Read carefully.

So you have been trying to check your name on NYSC mobilization list for you to begin your registration soon and your name has not been coming up.

You have tried all day to verify your name and all you are getting is no record found.

Do not panic or start looking for illegal ways to include your name. Make sure you read this to the end because at the and, you will see why your name may not be on the list.

Corpers Forum presents 5 Reasons why Your name may not be on NYSC site yet.

1. Network

This Is funny? Yeah it's funny to me also.
Network can be a reason why you are not seeing any record yet.

Thousands and thousands of Graduates or let me say PCMs are trying to verify their names at the same time. Imagine when about 10,000 graduates click on submit at the same time. That is what I call "Yam peppe scatter scatter"

I would advise you just relax for some time and check again.
If you are sure your network is good or you even did if at midnight alone.
Then move to the next point.

2. Your School is Yet To Upload the Senate list

Why do we call it the Senate list? I know, but I won't tell you because that's not our problem here. My problem at this moment is to tell you 5 reasons why your name is not showing up on NYSC portal yet.

Some institutions are yet to upload their Senate list.

Let me tell you what you already know.
Your higher institution have a list tagged "Senate list" which contains the names of all qualified and cleared graduates eligible to be Mobilized for NYSC.

The Senate list is then what would be given to NYSC as the official list from your higher institution.
NYSC would then upload the list in the back end of their Database which will show up whenever a candidate whose name is included attempt to verify his or her name.

If your institution is yet to upload and submit their official approved list to NYSC, then when you or anyone who is a student from that institution try to verify his or her name, on NYSC database, the system will say, "NO Record Found"

So if you are not seeing your name yet, confirm if your school are yet to Upload their approved list and wait till they do so.
This is what is happening right now. Some prestigious institutions are yet to upload their lists. Just relax and don't panic.

3. Academic Issues

Academic issues is the name am giving it. You can rename it if you want.
Academic issues does not really mean having an outstanding course. It revolve round your Department, faculty, Division of student affairs and more.

Assuming your case is not number '1' above and also negating no '2' above.
Let me break it down because of some people who hate mathematics like me.

Supposing your network is very good and also your institution has released their approved Senate list and still yet you can't verify your name. Here is what you need to do. Do not panic or start worrying yourself.

Confirm if others from your department see their names on the list.
If others has verified your names and you are the only one or maybe 3 others that are yet to see their names. Then you need to visit your school. Visit your HOD and tender the complain or go to DSA to inform them.

If you are not the only one from your department, or maybe everyone in your department did not see their names, you need to visit the HOD to know what's going on.

4. Your School Did Not Mobilize anyone from Your Set

Yeah, it I possible. I also experienced it. I wasn't mobilized the year I graduated. I waited for one good year. Not only me, but every students of OAU 2015 graduating set. You can ask around.

The problem was that the school mobilized left over candidates and people who had outstanding courses during the previous year. The Year we are supposed to go, our seniors were mobilized. When we saw the list with all eagerness, we discovered that none of our set was mobilized.
If your institution has released their approved list and you can't still verify your name, make sure you confirm of any of your set was mobilized.

5. Batch B Still dey
So do not need to panic, batch B still dey on ground.
If you have passed through all of the above and still yet your name is not on the NYSC mobilisation list, then wait for Batch B.
Note that only you cannot wait for batch B. If you are the only one not mobilized in the whole of your school, don't wait for batch B, rush to your school and fix it.

But if you are not alone like Liverpool slang "You will never walk alone" then chill, get something to do and wait for batch B.

So here is the Requirements for the issuance of NYSC letter of Exemption letter

ISSUANCE OF TEMPORARY LETTER OF EXCLUSION

Below are the requirements for issuance of letter of exclusion

1. Graduates of various Institutions who have completed their part-time programme and have obtained their Degrees/HND/Certificates or Professional qualification as regulated by NUC/NBTE or evaluated by the Federal Ministry Education with effect from 2001 to date are eligible to be issued Letters of Exclusion.

2. Application for the issuance of Letters of Exclusion should apply to the office of the Director-General and attach the photocopies of the following:

a. Degree/HND/Professional Certificate or Statement of Result
b. Means of Identification e.g. I.D cards- Driver’s license, International passport
c. One passport photograph
3. Physically present himself at the National Directorate Headquarters with the following documents;
a. Original Certificate and or Original Statement of Result
b. Identity Card, Driver’s License or International Passport
c. One passport photograph.

4. Applicants to report to the Exclusion Division of the Corps Certification Department, 48 hours after submission of application for necessary attention.

REPLACEMENT OF LOST LETTER OF EXCLUSION

1. Presentation of Letter of application for replacement attached with the following documents.
2. Police extract
3. Court Affidavit
4. Photocopy of lost original letter of exclusion.
5. Where the above (4) is not available, the applicant must furnish the department with the date of issuance and certificate number.
6. Original copy of his/her Institutions Certificate of graduation.
7. Identity card or driver’s license or International passport.

Note: NYSC Original Letter of Exclusion is not replaceable hence client will only be issued with letter of attestation/confirmation.

Serving my father land was never easy but became easy with the understanding of the aims and objectives of the body (NYSC) incorporating this necessity. To some persons, NYSC is a waste of one year of one's life;so I thought at first though.

But I came to realize that this scheme is an adventure of life on its own, a period to define purpose, a compulsory period to observe life and understand the principles governing the universe; environmental determinism and possibilism, a period to meet, understand, and know how to deal with people of different attitudes and characters, and more especially a period after school and before facing the real world; a world of responsibilities and independency.


I am very much certain that some persons have never had the opportunity to travel out of their birth zone or state, or stay out of the comfort of their homes, but with this scheme, they tend to be re-socialized by being randomly posted elsewhere.

Some will be glad to go, some will relent a bit (murmur) and finally accept especially after realizing how much they needed to meet, explore and experience new ways of life of other Nigerian cultures, while some will never want to go and that's where they begin to seek relocation or redeployment; although there are understandable and genuing reasons, situations or circumstances that can prompt the seeking of relocation or reposting, but most corps members seek this for comfort even though the reasons given for the purposes of relocation or reposting is not going to be presented as such.

When I was a prospective corps member, I wanted to serve far from home Haven spent virtually all my life in the north even though I don't originate from there. But even with me wanting to move elsewhere, I still had a choice of wanting to serve in a city. I was actually posted to the South; Delta State to be precise, which was a plus on my expectations; but the most crucial part of my service plan was cut short as I was posted to a rural area from the orientation camp; at first was disappointed and sad, filled with questions and thoughts of survival.

Even though I had the chance of getting a repost, something inside of me kept telling me to accept the fate, which I did. now I've got stories to tell about my adventures in the rural area. Before I go further, will like to put it to us that the rural areas have levels ; we have the hamlet, homestead and the village, all under 'rural regions'.

Most people will prefer to serve in a city; I would have preferred so to like I said before, but let me shock you;touching stories cannot be told, life changing history cannot be made in cities as compared to the rural areas; why?, cities like Abuja, Lagos, Asaba, Warri, Ibadan and the likes are places one can visit at anytime in one's life, but that village, even in some persons wildest dream might not even visualize self there. It's just like falling from grace to grass; Haven being born in luxury or civilization and falling back to the revolutionary era of your grandfathers or father in the 21st century; so they will think.

Come to think of it, don't you think it will be fun when you sit down with your friends, children or family members and tell them about your encounter and adventure experienced during your service year in a rural area ; like: how you used to live without electricity for a whole year with the knowledge that there ain't hope of restoration; no trace of wiring or broken transforms awaiting repairs; funny!, how you used to climb mountains in search of network to place calls if at all there is signal around, how bank transactions was a big problem due to the absence of banks; accessing one had to be you traveling miles or kilometers, how you used to wait for several or no day in some rural areas for the general market.

In the case of some riverine areas, how you used to bath and probably drink unclean River water that looks like tea without much milk, how you used to transport yourself to your place of primary assignment (PPA) via canoe or speed boat as the case maybe with limited or no life jacket: what a great risk; hmmmmmm. Having stories to tell about having to trek miles or kilometers to church or no church at all as the case may be, how mosquitoes and sun flies dealt with you and there was nothing you could do about it: hahahahhahahaha!

In the case of areas experiencing high amount of rainfall throughout the year which tend to be flooded especially places surrounded with water; how you used to wear rain boots to you PPA.

How you were treated like a king in the midst of a king by the Rural dwellers, bringing what ever they have, be it farm produce or fishes to you as if you are an Oracle so as to making you feel comfortable and welcomed. How you learnt a lot a lot of things which may be farming, hunting, swimming or fishing, also how you were exposed to different local diets for free. All these and many more fun and sacrificial experiences you cannot buy, you get for free serving in the rural areas.

Coming back to the urban centers, who cares for you?, where virtually everyone you see have attained one level of education or the other even higher than what you have obtained as a Corps member, where even an agbero will look at you and shout "who you be sef, Na only you finish school?" or where street uneducated people respects you not as a Corps member or where cost of living is very high and most corps members are dependent on the little 19,800 naira the federal government pays as monthly allowance; what stories do you have to tell that your children or friends Haven't seen or won't be seeing or come in contact with in one way or the other. Are you going to tell them about the regular or irregular power supply you enjoyed, or is it the stable or fluctuating network services you enjoyed, or about transportation using automobiles, or the various social amenities you enjoyed?

All these ain't history to restructure ones life and mentality about survival, because life is all about struggles, and most times, the hard times, though not good, makes one stronger both in pain and gain, both in little and surplus; but history and stories painting life to always be a bed of roses..

Some persons will think am insane, but from my personal experience I will end this article by saying 'the best place to serve is in the rural areas'.

Relocation and redeployment of corp members is a thing that is open to any corp member that is willing to take it. NYSC has made it in such a way that if any prospective corp member has genuine reasons why he/she should not serve in the state they have been posted to, such corper has the right to request for a change of state. And that's exactly what is called "NYSC Redeployment/Relocation". But mind you, such reasons must be genuine and reasonable.

The original intention for the creation of NYSC is that youths may move out entirely from their cultural environment to mix with people of other cultural heritage. But youths of today wants to serve in their own desired state. Therefore they are now found of forming different lies and assumptions. Because of this, NYSC had made redeployment possible only on 3 conditions:

Medical Ground:
If as a corp member, you are having medical problem that could pose a threat to your life in the environment you have been posted, you have the right to apply for redeployment based on medical ground. But the medical issues must be a reasonable and to some extent, life threatening before your application can be considered. "You can not say you don't want to be posted to the north because you do have menstrual pain". Nobody will listen to you. And mind you, you are still going to face an interview before approval of your application.
If the medical reason is genuine, all you will need to apply are:
A genuine medical report/certificate from your institution's medical center or from a recognized general hospital (report or certificate from private hospitals may not be considered).
A hand-written application letter (you are going to see a sample of this at the end of this post)
A relocation form which is going to be given to you on camp

Marital Ground:
This option is only available for married female corpers who are willing to be redeployed to the sate where their husband and family resides. Before you can be considered on marital ground, you must provide the following:
Your marriage certificate
Evidence of change of name in any of the National Newspapers
A letter from your husband's office to prove that he really resides there and work there.
A hand-written application letter (you are going to see a sample of this at the end of this post)
A relocation form which is going to be given to you on camp

Security Ground:
Some states are presently facing serious security challenges. Therefore, NYSC had made a provision for any corp member who wants to be excluded from serving in such states. States like Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe and some of the northern states are really danger zones for corp members. Those states are presently not save for corp members to serve because of the Boko-haram insurgency. Any corper serving there are doing so at their own risk.
The only requirement to apply for relocation in such case is filling the relocation form. If you refuse to fill the relocation form when others are doing so, you will definitely not be relocated; you will have to serve in the state.

How To Apply
For you to be considered for relocation, you must have filled and submitted the relocation form and attach the required documents to it. This form will be given to any interested corp member that requested for it (that is some days after everyone are through with their registrations). It will be announced anyway. So you have to be attentive and alert to know when it will be available for collection. Because if you fail to fill the form, then relocation is a "NO" for you.

It can be heartbreaking to see yourself in one state when you actually desire another state.
You would want to redeploy.

Redeployment is real. NYSC will redeploy you if you can prove to them you deserve it.
Redeployment is currently done on three basis:

1. Health reason
2. Marital reason and
3. Security reason

Have seen a guy redeployed based on spiritual reason before.. Its funny, but it works.

Security is only restricted to states prone terrorism. (If you are posted to Bornu state, thats automatic redeployment.

To secure a successful redeployment, these tips may help.

For those applying for medical reasons, make sure you get a medical report from a government hospital. NYSC won't acknowledge medical reports from private hospitals.

The reports are usually dated. The older the date on the medical report, the more serious NYSC officials will take it. If the report is dated a few days around when you printed your call up, it may raise suspicion about your motive for redeployment. i.e.
you printed call-up 1st may and your medical report is dated 5th May.

As soon as you get to camp, take your medical report to the camp clinic for authentication, then begin your application for redeployment.

NYSC Might not redeploy you to your home state.

Lagos and Abuja are highly contested, so you might not get them but you will get places that are very close.
Some people claim to have certain illnesses so that they can be redeployed. Note that the information go into your file for life. And if you don't mind and still want to claim an illness, claim wisely.

One of the most common illnesses people claim is Asthma. Asthma is manageable and can be managed from any hospital.
Whatever the illness you claim, know that the NYSC officials are going to assume that if the illness did not kill you in 4/5/6 years of schooling, it won't kill you in one year of NYSC.

For a person to succeed, it is better to follow the faith of those who successfully went through the same path. Below are some advices that if adhered to would not only make a corps member pass-out successfully, but also making him/her enjoy the service year.

1. TOLERANCE/ENDURANCE:
Service most times could be going away from your comfort zone which entails that some sort of luxuries or treats which you’re already used to, will be omitted or skipped. There are some things people will ordinarily not tolerate or endure but owing to the nature of the NYSC scheme where different people with diverse characters are brought to serve, one should learn to tolerate and endure.

2. HEALTH IS WEALTH:
This particular point is divided into two. First is the use of mosquito net. Yes! There are mosquitoes in most (if not all) localities of the nation, but not in same proportion. No matter a corps member’s state of deployment, mosquito net is essential. Secondly, be conscious of what goes into your body; water and food. Since you are going into a new environment, try to step up your game in personal hygiene.

3. LOCATE A MEDICAL CLINIC/CENTRE:
No one prays for an emergency, but that does not mean one should not be ready for any. Locating a nearby clinic/centre is necessary in case of emergency.


4. HUMILITY:
Irrespective of where a corps member is posted; metropolis or rural area, humility beats pride. Humility in the community of service is beneficial and pride on the other hand could spoil the image of the serving corps member, making the community refuse the Corper aid in times of need.

5. AVOID RELIGIOUS/POLITICAL ARGUMENT:
One of the objectives of NYSC scheme is bringing about national unity. It is better for a corps member to ignore or avoid any form of religious/political argument because everybody cannot have the same ideology or belief. Every corps member should desist from imposing beliefs or ideas on their colleagues.

6. NO FIGHTING:
Fighting is prohibited. It would definitely tarnish the image of the family you represent.

7. NO STEALING:
Stealing is prohibited. Try always being contented with whatever is yours so you don’t implicate yourself.

8. BE DILIGENT IN SERVICE:

9. DECENCY IN DRESSING:
no one is saying a corps member should adopt a new culture, but every corps member should dress decently always.

10. AVOID SNATCHING COLLEAGUE’S DATE:
You may wonder why this is on the list, well we’ve heard of many cases where issues like this occur. There are enough guys and ladies to go around, so stop trying to eat various soups with your eba.

11. DO NOT OVER SAVE:
sometimes you wonder why people would rather save money than eat reasonable meals or take good care of themselves or some always trying to eat from others while their money laid rest in an account— GREED.
This intent to save has caused much grief. Let me deviate a little for instance; after saving, a person losses the money unproductively or for those that move from room to room for free food; eat kobnomee (love potion).

12. BE SECURITY CONSCIOUS:
Know your surrounding or service environment so you could identify a strange face. Also locate a security post to help in any form of anomalies.

13. AVOID LATE NIGHTS:
Most Corpers are posted to places they are not familiar with. The best bet is being at your residence before nightfall. But if it happens to be coincidences, try to always walk with people at night.

14. SERVE GOD:
Acknowledging the presence of a supernatural being is most definitely a great thing.
Whichever religion you believe in, just serve God.


15. KNOW THAT THERE IS LIFE AFTER SERVICE:
Beware of what you do because NYSC is not the end of life. Try to act right and live peacefully because you don’t know who you would render or receive help from.

You are preparing to enter NYSC camp, these are the five (5) kind of people you will meet.

1. The ITKs (I Too Know): This group of new corps members have studied the NYSC program like it’s an examination. They seem to know every thing about NYSC even more than the Commandant General. This group of people are walking and breathing NYSC enclycopedias.

2. The SpiriKokos: These are the ones that will vehemently refuse to wear the Khaki because it is trouser. They can be recognized by the religious matter they are constantly toting around.
.
3. The Romeo and Juliet: There are always couples that meet in camp and suddenly become attached at the hips. They are always loved up for the full 3 weeks. At the end of camp, their love usually disappears. Just watch them.
.
4. The Attaches: This group don’t know where they belong. They watch the camp settings for a few days before attaching themselves to the people in power or those they can gain stuff from.

5. The JJCs (Johnny- just-come): This group of people are always looking lost. Like the entire NYSC program is an alien concept they have yet to understand. Questions that a new comer will ask, this group still persist in asking way into their second week of camp. Watch people in camp and classify them according to our list.

even when it is almost unfathomable that you can avoid doing so, could potentially lead to situations that may end in you feeling very, very humiliated and punished. Never do this unless directly ordered to do so, and even then it is safer to wait to be told twice, just to be sure. Your job is to stare straight ahead, nowhere else.

2: Left is Left and Right is Right.

This rule applies to hands, feet, turning while marching, sides of a pack, boots you name it. If you are told to pick up something with your left hand and you pick it up with your right hand, you are wrong and are going to draw attention to yourself. If you are a squad leader and you lead the entire platoon right when the command was left, ohhhh boy you are going to feel great after 500 pushups at 0300.

Corps finest pieces of property, you will be required to start and end every piece of language that exits your nasty little mouth with “Sir” (or “Ma’a m” if referring to a female). More often than not, the only conversational elements that will reside in between Sir or Ma’am will be “Yes” or “No.” It is not often that any other information will be required from you. When told an order, the proper response is “Aye (Sir or Ma’am).”

I think nobody is above mistake. This picture has been trending and we at corpers forum have to address it.

But to talk of it, its just a mistake that can happen to anyone. I once forgot the correct way to spell "FRONT" while in 400L in an exam hall.

This happen to people often and often again. We should not then use this to judge or conclude about anyone.
