Many relationships today are centered on sex, money, good food, beauty, Trips and lots, however, relationships should be more than that. An ardent Facebook user, Olumide Glowville posted on his timeline about what should be looked out for in a relationship. In his post he pointed out that sex, food, trips and beauty are the basics of a relationship. He said relationship is an exchange of values, your partner ought to motivate you, impart something positive in your life, give you inner peace, gives you something extraordinary and uncommon.

He writes:

Until your partner offers something more than the basics - Sex, money, movie dates, getaways - your relationship hasn't exactly started!

I had this discussion with a colleague at work today, and this struck me.

A relationship is an exchange of value, not an exchange of basics.

So you are getting the best sex in the world; many other people can and will do that, if given a chance. That's basic!

He is taking you on vacations and giving you the expensive things; so many rich guys will do the same on a higher scale, if they get a chance. It's basic.

She cooks great meals, so what? A lot of women can cook better. He helps in the kitchen, great! But there are many guys who can do that as well. That's basic too.

Most of the things we fawn about and pay more attention to in relationships are basic. We tend to undermine the more important things that require our attention.

Things like, does he/she motivate you to get better? Do they influence your life positively? Do they go out of their way to help you? Do they stand up for you anywhere? Do they protect you?

Most people are in a relationship where they enjoy things they can already do for themselves.

If your partner can't talk sense to you, call a friend to help you when you need it, give you inner peace, freedom to aspire or just impact value into your life, you don't have a serious relationship. You are just playmates!

Get you a partner that can offer something more than ordinary, something quite uncommon.

Sex, food, trips, and others are nice, but they aren't invaluable, are they?

TV personality, Denrele Edun shook the internet this morning as he took to his instagram page to upload paint pictures of himself as he Celebrates his 37th birthday.

Denrele was born in Hamburg, Germany, to a Yoruba father and an Indian - Mauritius mother. He is the only son and has two sisters. He grew up in Germany and came to Nigeria when he was five.

An elderly lady just got wedded to her beau, it was posted on Facebook by Adaobi Joevita who is a niece to the elderly lady. I need someone to understand that God did not put every person in your life for you to date.
Alot of us make that mistake all the time. Just because we are best friends does not mean we will be best lovers.
Just because our friendship is right does not make us right for eachother.

Dear friend, you need to understand when people are good for friendship and when they are good for a relationship. There is a huge difference between understanding in friendship and understanding in a relationship.
Friendship is usually 10X easier. There are no serious commitments, no silly love expectations, no responsibility on anyone even as a bestie bestie, we are fine whether our affections are reciprocated or not, we are good even when you don't call for weeks, in our heart we are still besties, and any month you remember to call we will spend hours talking and catching up on all the times we have been disconnected. It's just plain easy to be friends with someone you owe no emotional attachment, at least I like all your facebook photos and comment on your post once in a while, no friendship lost.
But the moment you switch it on to dating, it becomes 10X more work, 10X more commitment, 10X more responsibility. It is never the same as when you were just friends, now there are expectations, now its not okay for you to call me whenever you want, you cannot even go silent on me for a day, even when your phone gets stolen I aspect you to call me with your brother's phone. No airtime credits? Well, borrow from MTN and reach out to me. It's never the same.
When you start dating you soon realise the friendship was a better place for you, because you begin to realise that your bestie is not that bestie enough to draw that kind of a deep commitment from you. I am shaking a cultural table this morning and it has to do with certain criteria we have been taught to look out for in a woman.
For instance, one of the criteria of a good wife should be that she can cook and clean but looking at the world we live in today that's no longer applicable.
My wife is the General Manager for Sapphire Scents and she's brilliant at what she does. All I usually do is hand her the keys of a new project then I just check on what they do and things run better than I could have done it. She is helping my destiny in a way nobody can.
Imagine if all the attributes I saw in her was cooking and cleaning?! I have heard many men say " I can't eat unless it's my wife that cooks it" that is total, arrant nonsense!
If she can do it all good and well but its not a do or die affair, get a cook and a maid for your wife so she can eat when you eat. The truth is that not all women enjoying cooking but they just try their best because culture has said " a good woman must know how to cook"

Many men could have been wealthier today but they made their wife who would have been the chief strategist or accountant of their business a cook and a house help!
When God said He would give you a helper, He didn't mean a cook or a house help, He meant a destiny helper!
Please don't get me wrong if your wife loves to cook and clean that's great but don't make it the criteria for judging and deciding who she is, these are things that others can do better, find out the area of your life that woman has been assigned to help you and place her in that role!

What they forget is; regardless of who you are, what you believe in or do not believe in, we all die in the end.
If as an unbeliever, you run into needs and seek for assistance from a staunch believer, then you're in for a long one.
Accepting Jesus Christ as your personal lord and saviour, attending their church services, baptism and open refutation of unbelief becomes a benchmark to get help and support from them
But those who do, are the same people who will say "God bless you" when an unbeliever offers them deliberate support without expectancies and refunds.
It's funny how they effortlessly paint God blackForced evangelism, proselytizing, mental manipulation and compulsive repentance; all you will go through to get aids and support from the fundamentalist Christian.

A Facebook user, Sumayya Lawal got surprised by the acts of a good samaritan who returned a misplaced money. Sumayya recounted how her friend misplaced #80k yesterday at the market, after asking around without getting any positive result. The next day, they went back to where they alighted from bike and Adamsy as she called him told them to hold on, he left then later returned with the stolen money. He gave it to them saying despite the fact that he doesn't have up that amount, he can't use it because it is not his sweat.

TV Host and blogger, Anthony Abraham got his own share of SARS menace. He was accosted along berger road when he was on bike, he got dragged down to their van where the beating started, even trying to convince them that he is a blogger and entertainer seems useless as they continue beating him. They eventually pushed him out of the van after going through his phone and confirming he is actually a blogger.

I don't know what i did to deserve the kind of beating i receieved from SARS officials today.

I was on a bike going to Alagbole from Berger when they stopped me and asked me to come down from the bike which i did. Immediately, they told me to enter their van and i asked them why and that was it, rain of slaps landed on my face. They bundled me and threw me inside the siena van. Inside the van, they started beating me, i tried to block the slaps but one of them held my hand so that my face will be open to receive the slaps. They beat me as if i was a criminal before asking me what i do for a living. I told them that i am a blogger and also an actor/entertainer.

The beating continued again. Seriously, i was scared for my life, i began to doubt if they were truely SARS officials or they are kidnappers or ritualists. A lot of thoughts were running through my mind. By now we were approaching Ojodu going towards ogba. After all the beating, one of them then searched my phone and saw truely that i was a blogger, he saw my blog and also saw my skit videos this was after beating me o. He searched my pocket and saw some money. One of them said i should come down but the other one said i should bring the money on me, i refused and he then slapped me again and again and then again. I told them i wanted to use the money and he said he saw another one thousand naira in my pocket while searching me. I told him that was my T-fare. He said that he will take me to the station that why am i wearing a ripped jeans. Still, I refused to give him the money before they pushed me out of the vehicle after one of them said that i am a blogger that they should let me go before i start another #ENDSARS campaign. They also forced me to apologise to them for making them think i was a yahoo boy which i did. I still cant believe that this happened to me in my own country.

We are no longer safe in this country.
Those who are supposed to protect us are actually killing us.
We need to #ENDSARS with immediate effect because we really cant see the effect of SARS in our society. SARS has done more harm than good.

This was a boy that grew up with ADHD without a support system to back him up. Took him going to a boarding school to gain some balance and assert himself. Was unbelievably top of his class.

I honestly don't know who it was that added insulting comparisons, mental/verbal abuse and degradation to the list of parenting skills. I don't understand why you need to walk the path of torturing your own child in order to pass a message.

We're always very quick to eulogise our parents, which isn't a bad thing. But we should also be swift to admit when they get things entirely wrong.

A lot of us are going to reenact the bad parenting we experienced in the hands of our parents to our own kids bc we saw nothing wrong with it.

Before I started moving with Nigerians, I used to think all men are the same, but as I made friends with Nigerians, I noticed all men aren't. It was very obvious in fact. The may Nigerian men talk and act to ladies is absolutely remarkable.

He could be playing games, but again I was wrong. After listening to conversations and gossips, I noticed that for them, it's a shame for a man to mistreat his lady. A 9ja man will say " give my woman the same respect you give me" honestly he doesn't get better

A typical 9ja man makes his lady presentable because he believes that how his peer will respect him as a man. Romantic stuff!!, he'll take care of his house and even if there's problem inside, outsiders will never notice.��
