ketoprofen: everybody seems to have a problem with this thread because Eko Ile opened it. EKO ile u need to re-evaluate yourself then
If its not in Lagos or to a lesser degree the SW its useless to him.

As him to show the world class schools, hospitals, drinking fountains in Lagos and you'll have to check Webster to see if world class means something entirely different.

All states are below par so I don't know why Awka Ibom is being singled out when Lagos is no better infrastructure-wise.
PoliticsRe: Soyinka - The Village Mourners - A Must-read Bombshell by Crayola1: 5:41pm On Jun 20, 2013
Neo-XVI:
My thoughts exactly. It's always much easier to attend a friend's funeral than have to give explanations later.

Then again, even if for some reason he couldn't attend, why bother with all this long story? That only elevates his naysayers and fuels the suspicion of the viewing public.
+1 If he didn't attend it would better off to not feed the people he is criticizing, by not saying anything at all. What was a drop is now becoming a waterfall, with all these musing by Soyinka.

Even if the comments he's making get to the people he is talking about, will they change (even if they know in particular who Soyinka is referring to). No, if anything this is more ammo for them.

He should have just set aside time when the gathering of people would be at a minimum, pay his respects and bounce. As old as he is he should not be worried about what people will say or think, who give a a flying f*ck what they say are you here for Achebe or them. You think if I reach his age I'm going to worry about what people think? Hell no, at 80 people better be worried what I'll do to them instead of the other way round grin
PoliticsRe: Soyinka - The Village Mourners - A Must-read Bombshell by Crayola1: 5:26pm On Jun 20, 2013
Ola Johnson: The titles Wole Soyinka gives to his essays are so unique. See these titles: "The Open Sore of a Continent: A Personal Narrative of the Nigerian Crisis", "The Credo of Being and Nothingness", "Sexual Minority and Legislative Bigotry", "Between Self and System", "The Quest for Dignity in a Dehumanized World", "Myth, Literature and the African World" etc.
Oh my God shut up, you sniveling bastard. You have nothing in your own life to be proud of so you ape others accomplishments. If Soyinka named a new book Untitled your stup1d behind would think its unique too.

I think he should have went regardless. If someone is your friend and colleague you should pay your final respects, damn the naysayers. All these dribbles and essays from Soyinka, seem to make the problem he is rallying against much worse in public opinion.

People will talk always, so your damned if you damned if don't so it is what it is.
PoliticsRe: Biafra War: Igbo Leaders Deceived Their People, Says Ofeimun by Crayola1: 5:14pm On Jun 20, 2013
The only flawed individual in Nigeria is the Igbo person apparently. Its amazing to see people pour their hearts out for one group of people but can't give the same effort of enthusiasm to fixing Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Akpabio's Hospitals... by Crayola1: 4:57pm On Jun 20, 2013
mens dept: That's not a hospital, not in 2013?
I still wait to see a hospital in Nigeria that looks like its even up to the standard of the late 20th century talk less of the 21st.
PoliticsRe: Akpabio's Hospitals... by Crayola1: 4:01pm On Jun 20, 2013
The problem is this thread is not out of any true concern for the walfare of the citizens of Awka Ibom state. Its just the usual crabs in a barrel mentality that black people are fond of displaying to full effect.

The hospitals in Lagos are no better and not fit to be called world standard in any place, but because its Lagos its acceptable to the "concerned" hypocrites.

For clinics these buildings are ok, but as hospitals they are below standard, but any attempt to revive the comatose state of Nigerian healthcare, however small is welcomed.

Then lock the threads he creates. The section has become very boring because you have to sift through his nonsense to get to reasonable stuff.

emiye: When foolishness is exposed, you try to cover it up

Carry your bad belle comot jor ! angry
Everything that you don't understand is a scandal of epic proportions.

Are these students even learning in proper facilities. No, but tablets will surely close the gap between a Korean kid in a fully functioning class room and a Nigerian kid with one knock off tablet. Yes progress has been made, when teachers are on strike thank god they have tablets, im sharing a desk meant for one with 10 instead praise Jesus for these tablets o, I'm coming and leaving school on an empty stomach my tablet will quiet my hunger cheesy
