The personal attacks on both sides are getting out of hand. Let us stop it, please. It is not nice.
I may be upset about the lie radautoworks is defending but I can understand why she has a duty to defend her constituent. I may do the same if I were in her shoes.
I feel less inclined to post what I have prepared, but I am forced to respond to the allegations against me, given that radautoworks has already made my identity public.
I can see that some persons have decided to make claims without providing one shred of evidence. Since this is now a question of integrity I have asked GAZZUZZ to give me the go ahead to post evidence to refute some of the claims made above which he has willingly giving.
I requested from radautoworks permission to post the evidence that would lay to rest whether or not Glen bought items for my rear differential but she is yet to give her consent.
I have decided to post with or without her consent because her continual denial only make people think I am lying and since she previously revealed my name together with vehicle plate number I am obligated to post the evidence in order to clear my name. Afterall she is a champion of transparency.
Will post as soon as I am done with my current activity.
adanny01: I have nothing against you, just for the record. I have no stake in yours or anyone's business in this line of business.
Having said that, points 1-4 will never surprise me because you had the chance TWICE
You treated this thread with kid gloves, pointing fingers at this point is still saving face. Anyone who fixes Crocif's problems at this point is a hero, you allowed that to happen.
Please say less and seek PR and TECH assistance. You can't make this go away on your own.
Kewtt: Bro .. I need your connect ... for this car at 400k... I don't mind paying 500k
Brah,
The vehicle is not for sale. That's the reason why we chose to repair. Granted, we have some way to go before we get it to our desired standard but it is a project we have decided to embark on.
Grupo: If you could drive the car to and from the east, then I'd say that the work done on the engine by rad is not as bad as you have been painting it.
I think you had an agenda from the get go before even going to their workshop.
Lol.
What would the agenda be?
Ordinarily I would choose to ignore but I take it you are unaware of how everything began.
For your information, I took the vehicle to the East and back before taking it to radautoworks.
There is no time I mentioned that the vehicle was not capable of going that far.
DUNKA: Mazi well done and thank God for journey mercies. Just goes to show that even a kazeem if properly guided can get the job done ✔. Lessons learnt
Thanks brah.
A lot learned.
I already started making out time to do some research of my own to close the knowledge gap.
I got to my destination in Lagos at about 2:39 pm after leaving the East around 6:45 am.
The repairs done in the East passed with flying colours. The replacement rear differential gave me no cause for alarm in the end.
I made two stops in Benin and Ore to check for any sign of leaks. Thankfully there was none. To think that I had a 'lowly technician in the East' to thank for this. God bless him.
To your first question: I mean Glen purchased all that was required to fix the leaky rear axle and I paid him for the items he bought. Seeing that the thread is becoming heated I am not inclined to show the evidence unless radautoworks specifically ask me to show it. The information may be personal to Glen.
To your second question: Since I began this thread I have not said what did not happen. The direct answer is NO I did not accuse him falsely. Glen knows.
I could not make the trip back to Lagos today as I had hoped because the job was completed a few hours ago. The 'local auto technician' succeeded in getting the rear differential out yesterday and we set out to get what he assured us was a "direct Belgium" (by this I felt he meant the best rear differential we could get in Onitsha). Unfortunately, the replacement 'differential' came in quite late and the rest of the job was postponed to today.
After some hours today, the vehicle was ready for a test drive. He test-drove and told me I needed to fill it with 'oil'. For this, he directed me to a gas station where I had it done. As I drove, I noticed that the ABS light came on and quickly took it back to him to get it checked. He raised the vehicle up and went under to fiddle with what I thought were some wires at the back. After that, he asked me to drive it a bit that the light would go off eventually.
A bit sceptical but I started the vehicle all the same and there the light came up and disappeared. Drove it for a while longer and it did not come back on. For his troubles, he billed me N10k. I paid, took the car and drove some more to be sure everything was truly okay. It seems so at the moment. Tomorrow's journey would be the ultimate test. I hope everything goes well. Will try to update you guys when I get to Lagos.
PS: I would appreciate it if we can all take a deep breath and calm down. Pretty please.
adanny01: So you do sell tokumbo engines, why am I surprised? And you don't want to source toks ECU
Why didn't you consider the most viable option between fix or replace.
And you are still against the replacement when you had your chance (TWICE). What will you do differently if you were asked by op to fix it considering he still has a warranty.
Thanks, brah.
However, I give up my right to any more warranty if any. There are a number of things I can take but not the lying and being repeatedly told how a business transaction has metamorphosed into a charitable venture.
DUNKA: Mazi the only thing I can say is sorry for your loss. We have 15 year old illiterates that can take apart an engine and couple it back fixing a car in this our age and time I repeat is not quantum physics. This should be an eye opener that all that glitters is not gold. Beware of packaging the grass always looks greener on the other side. Too bad
Lol...@ sorry for your loss.
Thanks brah.
Yeah, quite an eye opener though I still believe we have honest technicians out there who know what they are doing even though they are few.
With the damage they caused to my rear differential and the blatant denial I am now very cautious.
Though I am still hopeful that the nairalander who offered to help check the car would identify all areas that require rework and possibly proffer lasting solutions.
That much smoke means most likely bad valve seals or the rings. If the smoke is at startup after being parked for a while and eases off (like it seems to in the video), it is the valve seals- which we did not provide. YOU DO NOT, I REPEAT, YOU DO NOT NEED A NEW ENGINE. when parked for a while, the oil is leaking through the valve seals into the exhaust. When the car is started, it burns off giving the white smoke you see. If it was the rings, the smoke would not stop or ease off. No matter where you go next, do not let them sell you an engine. Simply get high quality valve seals and have them installed.
P2647 has to do with the VVT which was leaking badly. We corrected the leak because a lot of the time that clears the code and saves you having to buy a sensor. In addition, compared to your other problems, the sensor was not considered a major issue.
On the P0430 catalytic converter code, as you see below, it was not present at either visit however the oxygen sensor (P2251 & P0134) we told you about is on the same bank as the catalytic converter that is now throwing a code which is not uncommon.
[s]As far as the rear differential, when we looked at it, it had a bad seal which you also provided and we replaced. Had it been bad, there would have been an unmistakeable roaring sound when the car was driven. I don't know what, if any, bad roads may have damaged your differential but the only problem with it when it came to us was the seal.[/s]
Given how displeased you were, I'm surprised you embarked on a long distance journey workout a third party check which would have removed all ambiguity. I was anxiously awaiting the results. As much as I sympathize, we cannot bear responsibility for third party parts. We took the motor apart twice because of the oil pump (another third party part).
I wish you all the best but can no longer invest time and money into this vehicle unless we use our own parts.
The areas in red I won't read because you forced me to give the video evidence of the smoke now you want to explain it away.
The other areas I struck out are demonstrably false. Everything about the differential was provided by Glen not me and I paid him extra for it. The evidence can be provided.
You are surprised I took the vehicle on a long journey? Amazing. The point of doing that much work was to travel with it and YOU told everyone that the vehicle was roadworthy. I guess I was wrong to trust your professional opinion. I apologise for this.
The advert on your website:
10% OFF All Major Repairs It’s Road Trip Season – and you should be #roadready! FREE Performance Check Nationwide Warranty No Appointment Necessary
I was hoping to update everyone with some heartwarming news but sadly the good news would have to be for a later date.
I was forced to cancel my appointment with the nairalander who graciously accepted to check the health of the vehicle because I am currently stranded, somewhere in the East because the vehicle was not roadworthy after all.
In case you are wondering, I got to my destination in the East quite alright but the events of the following day proved that our safe arrival was only by the grace of God.
The first thing that greeted us the next day was the exhaust smoke at start-up.
Then the following error codes: P0430, P2251, P1717, P0134 and P2647.
and the last was a terrible noise coming from the back axle of the vehicle. A quick check by one of the technicians here showed that the rear differential was completely bursted. A bit upset about this for obvious reasons.
Anyways, I already purchased another and would have it fixed tomorrow so I can get back to Lagos on Friday.
radautoworks: Apologies! I thought I removed all identifying information. It has been fixed.
About Blessing, she is consistently our auto assistant with the highest customer satisfaction rating on attitude so I'm shocked by this statement and frankly find it hard to believe but not all personalities get along so I will defer judgement.
About the struck out portions, they are documented on video so I'm not sure why you say they are false. As you say, no need to argue. I still urge you to take it to a neutral shop for an assessment on the car's health. You previously stated you are not auto savvy and I think you are approaching car repair from the same angles as computer/electronic repairs. They are not. You need an independent review from elsewhere about the car's condition to assuage your fears.
Also, I stand corrected. I mis-remembered a statement of yours. Apologies for the incorrect statement.
And whether your accept it or not, I apologize again for how you feel
You do not need to apologise.
I am a bit of a tough cookie. So, don't worry about my feelings. Like I said it is business.
PS: On Glen given all to make-up. Ask him, when he used his personal oil switch for my vehicle I asked him not to. I had to go buy my own. So you know, I purchased ALL the items your technicians required of me. You mentioned a sensor, I do not recall anyone spoke about that. What I remember was someone talking about something (don't know the name) around where the driver airbag is. Said I need not change it so I left it.
I am now getting into a he/she/they said argument. I don't want to do this.
radautoworks: Apologies! I thought I removed all identifying information.
Again...water under the bridge.
I wouldn't have mentioned it if you had not tied a name to the number plate.
PS: None of my business but I would strongly recommend that you pay more attention. Some things I witnessed (I will not share here) indicates some customer dissatisfaction. Maybe Glen already spoke to you about one of such episodes. I do not think you should take those lightly. You have explained the business model and as I mentioned, I am truly intrigued and want you to succeed. I wish you well.
Will continue my journey to find out what's wrong with the vehicle. On a lighter note, I am wondering how a smart lady like you could believe the vehicle was purchased for N400k and you believed. Lol. Amazing.
First, have YOU spoken to Glen about the repairs after pickup? Because he spent a LOT of time with your wife explaining what was going on. Below in the additional work he did personally on your vehicle. Some of it he wouldn't have recommended if you were paying for the work but he did it because he wanted to make it up to you.
What my staff and I don't understand is [s]you never say anything when you are not satisfied[/s] but drive home and then write a report on Nairaland. Why don't you say something when you are there? Everytime Blessing calls to explain something to you, you tell her to talk to your wife when it's obvious that she doesn't understand what we are talking about. Then you take third party information and post it here.
1) there was no blue smoke from the exhaust the first time OR the second time the car left the shop. I already posted a video of when you brought the car back, no blue smoke. I will be posting the video of the car right before it was given to your wife.
2) the check engine light is on because of an oxygen sensor (which was explained to your wife). The oxygen sensor was on the original diagnosis scan (feel free to check the video). You didn't supply the part, we didn't change it.
3) Glen explained to your wife why the pressure light was still on. This was a common problem with that year. Your vehicle does not have the system upgrade required to get rid of the lights. The repairs causing the lights were done but the upgrade is a Honda dealer thing which we cannot do. He was going to follow up about if we could find a way to remove the light. Please see the TSB below. The only part not done was the circled last step. Again, this was explained in detail to your wife.
4) I don't know if that happened but I will take your word for it and apologize. A lot was done on your vehicle and I concede it could have been forgotten.
5) we didn't know about any strange noise and we're focused on your primary complaint.
6) like I previously said, old and new parts sometimes take some time to mesh especially when you are using tokunbo parts. That's part of why Glen kept running it and taking it on test drives to make sure nothing else happened due to the extensive work done. And, according to you, the noise has stopped.
7) [s]despite the fact that one or two of your recurrent issues were caused by defective parts supplied to us,[/s] contrary to company policy we did not charge you to redo the work because of the previous poor communication on our part.
8 ) [s]You bought this vehicle for about 400k if I remember correctly. When you did, you knew it had extensive issues. We did extensive work to make the car road worthy (which we maintain it is). For this work, we charged about 200k.[/s]
You currently have a road worthy car for dirt cheap with a 90 day warranty on labor and 1 year on parts you did get from us. In my opinion, it would not be the best move to sell the vehicle but you do you.
I believe that we have gone above and beyond to satisfy you. At this point, all I can do is apologize if you feel your car is not brand new, request you take it to another shop with no knowledge of any of the work done so far on it and get their opinion on the health of your vehicle. We stand by the work done on your vehicle.
P.S: if you decide to sell it, bring it to us, we are pretty sure a buyer will jump on it.
Hi,
I struck out areas that are demonstrably false. I will not bring myself to that level and argue about them.
Secondly, you do not owe me an apology and Glen need not go out of his way to make it up to me. We had a business transaction and I got the short end of the stick. It happens. Water under the bridge.
Thirdly, I explained in detail to one of your management staff on-site why I would prefer not to deal with Blessing. To put it simply...she was rude.
PS: I told you from the beginning I would do a review here and I am surprised at the way you handle customer confidentiality. My number plate is all over the place etc. Now I am thinking coming to your organisation was a huge mistake.
9icetoo: Nawa. This matter get as e be. Oil pressure light still on? The vehicle shouldn't have left the workshop with that light still on.
This motor sha. Even the VSA has not been sorted.
OP, check your battery first. If you have another car and the battery is new, swap it with the one in this mdx. The mdx is known to throw a lot of warning lights when it's battery gets old. This is an inexpensive attempt to rule out an issue.
If the warning lights come back, then ....
Thanks.
The battery is relatively new. I believe I got it sometime in January this year.
Anyways a nairalander has graciously volunteered to take a look at the vehicle. Hopefully, I would get the answers I seek.
At this point I just need to know either of two things: (a) Engine bad, change; or (b) Engine good, continue use.
If I can get a concrete answer on either of those two, I would consider that progress.
emmyN: I understand your wife picked up the car. Were these lights on the car at the moment it was picked up? Why weren't they addressed on the spot, or what explanation was given for them?
Yeah, my wife did. Well, she had a conversation with them that got her upset. She mentioned that they said the oil light would not go off until we do a system upgrade or something in that line...
I can only confirm that when she came back with the vehicle yesterday, I observed that the 'check engine light, the 'low oil level pressure' alongside the pings were on. The other light(s) came up this morning.
Jarus: I had a price quote from someone else in my hand. I complained about it on Twitter and someone recommended you here. I came here, pick your number from your profile and your staff picked the call.
First, they said you don't have a whatsapp number - not good for this kind of business which requires sending pictures of parts you want changed, listing a long list of items to buy, forwarding whatsapp message from mechanic etc.
That your staff gleefully insisted I can't send the messages by Whatsapp was already a turn off.
She asked me to send sms. I sent 3 text messages.
After like 10 minutes of waiting, I called to ask for progress. Alas, her response was "Let me check the phone message". Imagine, if I had not made follow-up call, I would just there, thinking my message request was being attended to.
She she said did't receive them. Later, she said she saw 1.
I called later snd she said I should send email. I sent the email.
Even email did not get acknowledgement for like 20 minutes.
When she confirmed she got the email, she said she would get back to me shortly.
I waited and waited, calling at intervals ( I needed to make decision urgently as I was about transferring money to the alternative supplier I was talking to)
Like 1 hour later, she called and was about calling the prices for me on phone - about 12 items o. Told her what was the point of email she asked me to send if she can't copy my email list, paste and just add prices in front of them, rather than dictating when I was inside Taxify and didn't have a pen.
Well, she scanned some rough paper document to me after another 40 minutes, half of which was either not responded to or illegible.
Not a good experience in customer service.
Your experience is not half as bad as mine though I chose not to share some of the ugly stuff online. There is one episode, key to my story, that I feel obligated to share. Maybe later.
Preliminary inspection this morning shows the following:
1) Blue smoke from the exhaust. Maybe it's early to say if it will continue or stop. I Will check this again and make a video if it continues. 2) Lights on the dashboard. Including the "check engine" light. 3) "Low oil level" warning light still pings. 4) For some reason the technician did not replace that plastic thingy used to protect the battery terminals from touching the body of the vehicle. Had to work on that myself this morning because there was a spark. 5) I hear some strange noise under the vehicle. At the back. I suspect it may be that the spare tire is loose. 6) Heard some strange noise from the engine this morning when I started the vehicle but that has since stopped.
That's the status this morning. I will check again this afternoon and update.
radautoworks: please do because when I asked Glen about it yesterday he said it was done and they were waiting for pickup. He said it was done since I believe Wednesday but they wanted to run it and make sure there were no more issues and no lights came back.
Okay.
Called some moments ago. Blessing said Glen took it out on a test drive. She promised to call back when he is done.
radautoworks: Op @crocif, your car has been ready o. I don't know if you got the call.
Hi,
Thanks for the info but I am a bit confused.
Glen told me that the vehicle would be ready on Tuesday/Wednesday last week but I had to call on Thursday to find out the status of the repairs since it was past the estimated date of completion. I was told the vehicle was not ready yet. Called again the past Saturday and I got a similar response with a promise for Monday (today).
I would call again to find out if I can come for pick-up today.
speedfreak: Lol, they have, as long as you check in at least 30mins before the flight you’d have little or no problems, I like how they easily reschedule flights, in cabin ambiance and general professionalism, although the ground crew in Abuja can be very rude and annoying
