CoCoLav: Calm down. While you were earning 5k as your salary during NYSC, there were people who were earning 120,000 per month. It all depends on the field.
I will say it again, I saved 470,000 during NYSC including the money payed by INEC. There are corpers who bought cars after NYSC. Chill bro! You're in the medical field? Prolly a pharmacist/MD? |

Seventeen: I served in one dry, dead, local village in Nasarawa state. We did nothing but sleep and eat. The villagers were so happy and honoured to have us and always gave us food stuff and chickens for free. There was practically nothing to do with our money. I cant even remember what our govt allowee was then. The school where i taught was owned by the catholic church, they paid us nothing cos there was no money to b honest. The pupils were kids of poor fammers. The dint even pay school fees, the school had no uniforms, the priest said they had tried in the past but the parents of the kids culdnt afford it. Pencil and exercise book sef, na war. The whole staff in the school including the headmaster were corpers... . I think i had upto 90k in my account at the end of my service year. Apart from money for toiletries (which we had to travel all the way to Akwanga to get) , The only money i spent was for transportation whenever i travelled out of the village or state. I culdnt wait to leave but i really did enjoy the peaceful and stressfree life of that one year, it was like living in another world after the 4years of hustle and bustle of Uni. Na wa ooo.. OP thanks for taking me through memory lane. its been a while since i reminisced about NYSC days oo. Cheiii i don old oo Wow! lol! What year was that?? |

adwaani: hmmmm.....well I am a mechanical engineering student at KNUST,and I can honestly tell you I wouldnt want to do anything other than mechanical engineering. As a mechanical engineer, well a good one for that matter there is no field in engineering or even finance you can't adapt to or be relevant in . plus if you specialise in the right area of mechanical engineering, like maybe thermofluids and energy systems engineering or maybe design and manufacturing, the sky would be your starting point.......please note, you need the hard skills to back the paper though,i know mechanical engineering graduates that can't even prepare a detail engineering on the board or even worse auto cad I would have taken your postulate serious had it been you're a graduate I believe graduands who have faced and experienced the rigors and quagmires in the labour market, not from someone who only has a modicum or even no experience. No offense intended tho |

gunpoint: Tis sad but thats the reality. While i was in the industry, i was in a 28man dept, 13 engineers. 3 mechanical engineers(i was one of em), 1 production engr, 1 agric engr, 4 electrical engineers, 1 civil engr, you get the drift? And only one economist and 4 accountants in the group. It was not an anomaly, it was a norm in banking. And it went all the way up to the extent my group head a GM was an electrical engr too. It puzzled me too, but it helped me settle in. I have left now sha And oh! Only one maths graduate Seriously? Na wah oo Not my problem though. |

gunpoint: @op This isn't a shade at anyone who has posted already, but do not mind people telling you to go with maths, the people who are surprised to hear you studying maths when engineering is available, they are not mad. As an engineering graduate, i worked in a bank for a while, truth be told, engrs dominate banking, while no other discipline crosses over to engineering. And as far as i know, no you cannot just waltz on a do an msc in engineering with a maths degree. If you know you can switch, switch yesterday, infact switch last week. But be mindful of what one other poster said, if you cannot make a 1st class or at worst a 2.1, DO NOT make that switch. These people are deceiving you kiddo, maths is limited in Nigeria oh
Mind you, all these people talking about moving international, engineering is still a better prospect abroad too. Anywhere in the world, engineering will fetch you a job before maths. And any tom dick and harry can program Nice one But I pinpointed a loophole in your post. What do you mean by Engineers dominate the banking sector That's more or less a conjecture which's bereft of any justification to back up the claim.Pls,try making assertions without sentiment.I suppose you said that by virtue of the fact you're an Engineer. What happened to the bankers, accountants and the economists in banks? It's just tantamount to saying "Geophysicst rule oil industry" owing to the fact they can work there, but we know the truth still remains, oil sector is being ruled by engineers, petrochemical in particular. Besides, the mandates of engineers in bank is limited, they only do auxiliary work And you're so on point with that fact about programming you cited.Even me wey dey study pharmacy sef fit do programming. |

Engrpj: Abeg help me ask the Jobless people... how on earth can you compare Mechanical Engineering, Mother of Engineering to Mathematics
#Smh# End time Comparison You made that assertion by virtue of the love you have for Mech and possibly the prestige mech has than statistics.Let's drop sentiments aside and be truthful with ourselves. On a candid note,I know a lot of jobless engineering graduates:ilks of mech, elect, civil and others while on the contrary, a lot of maths graduates making it big time. It's an apparent fact there's no enough space for engineering graduates in the labour market, but most of 'em make it enormously when they get employed. |

Decker: You know it's quite funny that people are quick to chastise people who masturbate just for the sole reason that it's a form of sexual immorality. A notion that's gotten from the paraphrasing of the transcribed & transliterated words of the holy book.
Now, isn't it better for someone to please himself or herself rather than going out to fornicate and sleep around with others? I mean isn't it still a form of abstinence? Wouldn't you rather let your daughter or sister do that than sleep around with men?
We all see beautiful women everyday and we all fantasize about what we can do to or with them. You see a girl on the street with big baloons hanging out of her chest or a big backside and immediately, you imagine having sex with her. Now, what you have done is no different from someone who masturbates, the only difference is that he is stimulating his genitals.
The sin isn't with the stimulation but it's with the thought, so if I am to go by that, then both sets of people are guilty.
In the case of married couples, you should first bear in mind that people have different libidos. Some people have an unquenchable desire to have sex almost at all times and such people can't always afford to wait for their partners to be in the mood before they have sex, so they favor the act of masturbation. It's better than being unfaithful.
I am not saying this because I masturbate, I actually don't, not because I think it's wrong, but because sex isn't really my proclivity. wow! This guy's so intelligent.I didn't take Izanami's ratings a couple of weeks ago serious tho',but apparently seeing this explicitly explicated and brilliant post,You're quite wise to an enormous extent as asserted by izanami.More grease to your elbow |

drdrei09: Heard OAU resumes 10th....from an unreliable source Wrong information.Have you enigmatically wondered why the VC hasn't announced a date yet? It's simple.Majority of us are cognizant of the fact he's finishing his tenure by April.Ostensibly, he would be given a severance package,(tons of money and awards) but only on one condition:If there's no crisis. With the looming SUG entanglement, he wouldn't want to sacrifice billions of naira for the sake of some hellbenders. That's basically the one and only rationale why he tried giving ASUU a 3months leave. (You can imagine) Unfortunately for the him,ASUU collectively and consensually kicked against it in their congress. There's a senate meeting on Monday in which the matter will be deliberated on. Let's wait and see. Source:A member of the senate( A Senior lecturer in Faculty of pharmacy) But the fact still stands, if he decides not to open the school till March or even April,no one can apprehend him for it. |

@ Comradegafar you don't get it.
We stayed back home for 4 months when the acceptance fee was hiked and still came back to pay the exact amount we were protesting against.
The same happened in 2014,we stayed back home for close to 3months and still came back to pay the precise amount we were protesting against.
It's like this has previously been and will subsequently be the modus operandi .We protest, the mgmt sends us home and we start clamouring for resumption. There should be another way of approach to this incessant entanglement,it's not always about the aluta mentality, the last time that kind of violent approach yielded a positive result was in the 80's.We need to quit basking in our pool of delusion. Believe me,many students have started clamouring for resumption despite the fact we've barely spent four weeks at home. All these period of our stay at home, they keep receiving their salaries and their supplicatory allotments. We have always been at the losing end. And someone will still come to tell me some bullshit of a thing he's fighting for the sake of unborn generations, being undaunting and all those bullcraps while he's on his bed sitting and typing to ease off boredom. What has TY said to this issue at hand? |

@ comradeGafar I do apologise for denigratory attack at your individuality even though it's more like an admonition from my point of view. We're in the 21st century, you're only making reference to occurrence and the status quo ages ago.The current state of affairs then can be compared with present. That was in the 90s. I'm sure you are cognizant of what happened in 2004.A student called rashidi yaketu was gruesomely murdered during the protest, that didn't even move the mgmt one bit,the students' Union was disbanded, the students ultimately ended up paying the fee coupled the money for the alleged damages inclusively. Forget about FG's intervention into this quagmire,Even when the fee was outrageously increased, waiting for FG to resolve the imbroglio was like waiting for 3SC to win the UEFA cup,how much more a trivial and inconsequential issue as regards "Water and light" This ilk of problem is even a general issue, almost all schools on one or different occasions have it to deal with. What about the sudden explosions and circuit breakers' technical compromise that do happen with the transformers,it's not like it takes a couple of days before being repaired by the school, even it's sometimes done in 6 hours. And mind you, before the closure, you can't deny the fact there was unremitting availability of light and water, the school indulged and gave in to the student's yearnings, but I can't still comprehend the rationale why they had to threaten the mgmt with the disruption of the then impending coronation for the sake of renovation. As with your conjecture concerning UNILORIN,that's apparently a mere proposition owing to the fact you have no validation to back up your vindication, the assertion you made is baseless. My bro graduated from the school a couple of years back and despite the fact he did one of those trivial courses,I can say he's making it big to a reasonable extent Now.Not only judging by personal thingy,I know a lot of people that graduated from UNILORIN and are making it enormously,on the contrary,I know some jobless OAU graduates and vice versa. True, getting a job isn't by virtue of how fast you bagged your degree, but the fact still remains they stand a better chance than the guys fighting needlessly in school for the sake of constant supply of amenities they have no access to where they hail from. Also, there's no assurance one would get a lucrative job months or even years after bagging a degree. It's Gods will. |
