CrEaToRmalden:I have always said that the current situation where just about anyone, regardless of age and financial status, is allowed to have as many children as they care is unsustainable and dangerous. Almost all the problem we face today - kidnapping, Boko Haram, Niger Delta militancy - can be traced in one way or another to an unmanageable population growth. |
How does this work? They flag you down, you refuse to stop then they... shoot at you? There are hundreds of Policemen and NSCDC officials idling away. The common sense thing to do is quite obvious. |
The people who brought this book have largely discredited it. People who go about calling themselves atheist are just as ridiculous as people who call themselves 'true' believers. Both positions are driven for the most part by ignorance. Please don't quote the bible to justify your belief. You know very little about the origins of the book, which is key to understanding it. A few verses in Ephesians and the verse that says homosexuality is bad hardly count for anything. Oh, and the one about paying tithe to God. And please don't say there is no God. How did you come by this knowledge. There are billions of stars and planets and galaxies. Have you been to everyone to check? Or you you just like to appear learned. |

This is about "the power in the name of Jesus." The name Jesus is a derived from the Greek Iesus which is turn is derived from the Hebrew Yeshua, which was Jesus's original name. Other translations of Yeshua are Joshua and Isaiah. My point is why is Jesus "powerful" and not Isaiah, Joshua and Yeshua. "In the name of Jesus be healed," and "in the name of Joshua be healed" are essentially the same thing. Why is the English translation powerful and all others are not? |
Whether you pay or not is of little consequence in the long run. Your life will not be any different. What is yours will come to you. The things that are not yours you will never get even if you pay 90% of your income. And please you are not "giving money to God," or "sowing a seed." Don't be a fool. |
There is no such thing as "666 mark of the beast." Christianity is continually evolving. Old things are cast aside as new knowledge is discovered. If she had bothered to do a little research she'd have discovered this. Before you begin to criticise me, do your research. Saint Augustine said the ignorant ones shout the loudest. While the number is irrelevant, its been shown by recently discovered papyrus fragments that the number is definitely not 666. |
There really in no need for this topic. |
In the spirit of "cut your coat according to your cloth," I want to ask Nairalanders what percentage of a Person's income should be spent on rent. This came up because a friend of mine who earns N2m a year want to pay 500k PA as rent. My take is a person should not spend more than 10% of their annual income on rent. Or what do you think. |
The strange fact is, blood, when drank, is toxic. When confined to places where blood is supposed to be — such as the heart, vessels, and so on — it is essential for life. But when ingested it's a very different story. Of course all toxins have doses, and just as a tiny bit of poison won't necessarily harm you, the more you eat or drink, the greater the danger. Because blood is so rich in iron — and because the body has difficulty excreting excess iron — any animal that consumes blood regularly runs a risk of iron overdose. While iron is necessary for all animals (and indeed most life), in high doses it can be toxic. This condition, called haemochromatosis, can cause a wide variety of diseases and problems, including liver damage, build-up of fluid in the lungs, dehydration, low blood pressure, and nervous disorders. The bodies of animals that digest blood have adapted specialised digestive mechanisms. Humans don't. Simply put, a person would die a painful death if they attempt to drink blood regularly! |
Its silly to think a deployment of the military can bring peace to the region. America, with its frightful military machinery, have been in Afghanistan for a decade now yet the fighting has not stopped. |
Wow. |
@peruzzijay, sorry I need a Nigerian used Mack tractor in good working condition. Preferably double axle. My terms are half down payment and the balance in six monthly installments. If you have one, please post pics here. |
Have we ever considered the fact that Dana might be inoocent afterall. That some other "party" might have been responsible for the crash. To my mind, the restoration of Dana's license before the release of the full report was a mea culpa on the part of the Government. |
Would you accept hire purchase? Let me know your terms please. |
Still waiting |
No truck dealers in the house. |
What model? Mileage? Baloon or spring? 12 or 24 valve? I already have a 35ton bucket. What is the cost? And what payment arrangement is acceptable to you? I propose half down and the other half in 6 monthly instalments. I have managed trucks for people for some years now and want to break out on my own. I know the business inside out so paying the balance should be fairly straightforward. |
I need Mack truck for purchase. |
Would you be interested in hire purchase? |
What is the price? I am interested. I already have a bucket and need the head for hire purchase or partnership. Let me know please. |
While I agree wholehertedlyy with mrs Chima's suggestions, I must go with talina's. When a person needs help, you help them. Now. Yes is all well and good to set up Nairaland Charity, a website and partnership with UNESCO. I bet you the couple will probably be dead before any of these gets off the ground. Its a miracle the child survived this long. We have dealt with these people severally. It will take weeks, months even, to do what she is talkin about. Very few people grasp the urgency needed here. Talina is one of them. WHAT WE NEED TO DO RIGHT AWAY IS REMOVE THIS COUPLE FROM UNDER THE BRIDGE AS A MATTER OF URGENCY. |
Step 1 - Verification: We need to ascertain that Monday Obuh is a real person that lives under a bridge with his family. Step 2 - Need Assessment: We need to assess the degree of need(medical, housing, economic) from the people directly involved; in this case, Mr Monday Obuh and his wife. The general state of well being of the couple and their child will be assessed. Also find out we will use KII to find out what Mr Obuh did for a living and why he failed at that. Fourthly, we will also find out what kind of business Mr Obuh can do to sustain his family. Step 3 - Intervention: I suggest we use Meaningful Involvement of People Affected (MIPA) We set up a bank account with Mr Monday Obuh and CAIV as signatories. That way one party cannot withdraw money without the knowledge of the other. This is for transparency; and to build trust. We will also create a direct line of communication (a gsm number) between Mr Obuh and anybody willing to donate. At any given time, you can find out what is being done and how much is in the account. Step 4 - Monitoring : The first six months to one year will be crucial. We need to help Mr Obuh and his wife make the right decisions so they don't go back to the bridge. This is where our counselors come in. They will receive regular counselling at least for the first six months to ensure their reintegration into normal life is as smooth as possible. This is a summary of what can be done. We can start this week. At the very least we should get this couple decent accommodation to ensure the survival of both their children. |
@coogar, Am not saying give me money. I'm saying I get things done. That is my job. Contact here means if you want to match your words with action, lets talk about it. Seriously. I don't have to be the one in charge. The moment this leaves the front page everybody forgets about it. Meanwhile, the poor couple go on suffering. Lets act not bicker. |
We are on to something here. Evidently, there are a lot of kind hearted people who are willing to help but for one reason or another cannot do so. I think whatever we do now should go beyond this couple. Cases like this abound. We should set up a fund that will be used to help people like this. i dont believe it is impossible to get this couple a decent apartment and a little money to start a business in time for Christmas. I work for an NGO called CAIV. You can reach me at isaacante@yahoo.com. Lets make this work. |
