PoliticsRe: Implementation Of Sharia By Obasanjo Created Boko-Haram! – Gbanite by CROWE: 9:41am On Jan 12, 2013
miiraaj: Saying people down the north are happy with wat Boko haram is doing in the north truely shows you havnt been to the north, and sure have no idea of what's happening. In the north, there are places that are mostly christians and when muslims are killed,we don't hear you talk abt it.
What you are saying is that Christians do it too and we are being hypocrites? Yes, they do, I am not denying that but given the fact that the Muslims are the more aggressive ones with all the zealotry I can logically conclude that this is their fault.

It was a bit much for me to say people in the North are happy about Boko Haram tho so I take that back.

miiraaj: That means Oga Jona has lost control.
Was he ever really in control? There are too many sides to Nigeria fighting each other and there is nothing that we all agree on or want, Nigeria has no national Identity or interest, it is in a never ending cycle.

miiraaj: Can a muslim be allowed to be governor in a christian dominated state? The basis of a united Nigeria is understanding and respecting the will of others even if you don't share the same belief or ideology. And FYI,those at the top knw the basis of a united Nigeria because when the loot, they don't consider tribe or religion, they work together for their collective interest and leave the masses to kill themselves over tribe nd religion.
I don't imagine there'd be chaos if one was and tbh the Christian/ Muslim back and forth in Nigeria was started by the Muslims in the north, you cannot argue that, all over the world you can see Muslims countries with little to no people of any other religion in those countries, they either force you to convert or try to get rid of you. Even with all the church bombings in the north I haven't heard of Christians starting their own wide spread "crusades". Fingers can be pointed here whether you like it or not, blame can be allocated but that will not solve our problem. I imagine many many people in the north like what Boko Haram is doing and the fact that Nigerian army is there fighting them must make them very angry, I would not like to be in Nigeria in 2015.

That tribe and religion bit is not true, northern governors are actively working against the south on this state police thing, talking about how the Souths clamor for state police is suspicious.

fellis: Some northern elders and politicians have actually come out in public to condemn Boko Haram.

And I think GEJ said that the people sponsoring BH are in his cabinet (why do people keep forgetting that he made that comment?) so why hasn't he done anything to fish them out and make them face the music?
How do you know he hasn't done anything? There's a difference between not trying at all and not finding much success. You have a bit of a predispositioned bias against Jonathan probably because you think he is not a very good president so you begin to assume everything is because of one short coming of his or another.

The northerners hold most of the positions in Nigeria, if Boko Haram have strong support within the north, which they obviously must have, you can see how it would be hard for Jonathan to fight them, there are definitely some people in power making it easier for them to operate, just like all the corruption in Nigeria those things are happening in secret and don't just come into the light because you want it to.
PoliticsRe: Implementation Of Sharia By Obasanjo Created Boko-Haram! – Gbanite by CROWE: 6:19am On Jan 12, 2013
Title is misleading, made me think they were working for him also things like Boko Haram build up and obviously Jonathan taking over from Yar Adua escalated things for them. It is OBJs fault, Islam is even if only by practice anti-democratic, he should not have allowed it to consolidate its position in the north of a "Democratic" nation. Nigeria is a tolerant state, by definition there should be nothing like Sharia law or whatever the equivalent for any other religion is to be imposed on any part of the country.

You say that Jonathan is failing to handle it, well, Sharia law is outside the system of Nigeria and he shouldn't have had to deal with it in the first place. OBJ let it in because he could handle it? Even by that reasonong, he was thinking very short term and this is his fault.

okunboy: I think it is wrong to equate the number of political appointees of a region with their development (in the real sense of it). In Nigeria, the great factor here is the sharing of the national cake. One state in the south-south for instance, get revenue allocation much more higher than a whole region in the north. This is the Issue with the poverty in the north.
Really, so the northern states without oil money they are screwed, do you know that there are no natural resources in Germany, nothing whatsoever, no lead no copper nothing, yet it is one of the most developed and richest countries on the world, also Japan has nothing either and they are the third richest country in the world, Kenya has no natural resources yet it is the largest economy is east Africa. States like Anambra, Imo and Abia are just as poor as most other states in Nigeria, they aren't oil producing states, these are the most developed states in Nigeria with the best health standards like Lagos and the highest literacy rates in the country.

Seriosly, how many countries in the world produce oil, there is no oil in Singapore btw. It is because on that kind of thinking that we are were we are today. The oil revenue in Nigeria belongs to the oil producing states and the federal government, the rest of the Nigerian states need to figure out how to make their own money, there is nothing but desert in Nevada so they decided to turn Las Vegas into a casino in order to make money, maybe they could have been like our North and waited for government hand out, every state needs to make their own money and give to the government, that is the way developed countries work. The north are responsible for their own plight.

PoliticsRe: Ur View On New Nigeria Police Force, Code Of Conduct by CROWE: 3:39am On Jan 12, 2013
What you don't realize is that Nigeria is at risk of anarchy and chaos only because the system is bad, by denying the people a better police service on the grounds that they may rebel is like saying "we know you are not happy with the union so we will put a leash on you to keep you here". If the terms of the union were favorable nobody would want to revolt or secede. Is it your belief that one day people will spontaneously begin to like Nigeria, the constitution review thing is good but I do hope they actually make any change and like I said Nigeria must change to state police even if it is not run by the state. Armies thousands of people large are split into divisions and army groups that are completely autonomous, this is because those countries know that it will be inefficient to control them in one large group, this is something europeans have been doing for hundreds of years yet here we are, whether the police might become militia or not we must change to state police or we will never properly fight crime in Nigeria.

Nigeria's insecurity is religious in nature, for Nigeria to thrive there needs to be separation of church and state since Nigeria has many religions but this will not happen, Islam is not a tolerant religion, they will always try to take over and remove all other belief systems, this is Nigeria's biggest problem. All the kidnapping and such are standard for a nation where everybody is poor, the the standard of living goes up those things will go away, our only problem is that Muslim states are less concerned with development and more concerned with sharia law and Islamic values, their lack of tolerance will continue the north-south divide indefinitely, we cannot do anything to change that, Muslims have been at war with Christians for hundreds of years, its not going to end in Nigeria and its not going to end today.

"Crowe@r u not a nigeria ?"

I am a Nigerian, its why I am on this forum ^_^.
PoliticsRe: Who Is The Problem Of The North? by CROWE: 6:26pm On Jan 11, 2013
The problem with Nigeria was that the founding fathers wanted freedom from the English but they had no vision for what kind of state they wanted to make so once they got freedom the nation had no direction and fell into limbo, when you are not working towards any particular goal things tend to go wrong, now the south has a vision and the north doesn't like it, they'd prefer we become like Afghanistan, Iran and Egypt. Somebody start a campaign to break away from the northern sharia states, I'd support that, after all 2015 is either a northern president or conflict, we don't need such a backward union.

Does anyome feel that I am getting a tad radical? grin
PoliticsRe: Ur View On New Nigeria Police Force, Code Of Conduct by CROWE: 4:36pm On Jan 11, 2013
There is no stable and prospering country today that became that way by sitting and home and having faith, we must tackle the problem ourselves, if I was in Nigeria and had access to mass media i'd have said some major things, its too just bad.
PoliticsRe: Ur View On New Nigeria Police Force, Code Of Conduct by CROWE: 3:21pm On Jan 11, 2013
I can tell you right now that the code of conduct will not change anything, people are told everyday what they can do how to go about it and what they cannot do but they still go and do those things, also

"It is easy to buy 10, 20 or 50 vehicles for the Federal Police than to fund the state police".
-Frank Mbah

What this man who is a high ranking police man has just said without knowing it is that they under fund the Nigerian police force and it is easier to keep the sham secret if we don't localize the police force, see, Nigeria is 923,768 km2 and 160 million people strong, it doesn't matter whether you have state police or federal you should still need the same funding to man and adequately equip the entire land if anything state will be cheaper as it is more efficient and should then theoretically reduce capital needed, the problem is that the fault in the system will become clear when you switch to state police so they don't want it. Federal Police would require the utmost discipline and efficiency to pull off and that is something Nigeria does not have and even then it is better to switch to state as it is more effective way to serve the people, it is precisely because Nigeria is so disorganized that we should switch away from it, leaving the IG of police to serve 160 million people it a herculean task one that is beyond Nigeria and no developed nation of massive size does it.
PoliticsRe: Who Is The Problem Of The North? by CROWE:
nne3870: Shame on the northern leaders of our time.
I am afraid our time has nothing to do with it, a friend of mine is from Iran, the country was great before the Islamic revolution, a bunch of people who hate humanity spoil the name of Islam by using it as an excuse to destroy our societies, the days of radical mindset changes by force are over so what I am saying is whether now or in 50 years the rulers from the north will continue to work against Nigeria as their ideals and values are not going to go away and we cannot force it, we need to free ourselves of them. We cannot educate them or change their ideology, they will simply accuse us of trying to brainwash them with western sins and start to kill us.
PoliticsRe: Who Is The Problem Of The North? by CROWE: 6:53am On Jan 11, 2013
The problem of the north is ideology, Islamic states all over the world have a tendency to care more about what is going on elsewhere that worrying about what is going on in their homes. The northern governors refused state police on the grounds that the Souths desire for it is suspicious, at no point did they consider what Nigeria as a whole and their states stood to gain from it, they just cared about stopping the south from getting something that they wanted, that is Nigeria's problem, the north who have all the power are not a progressive and forward thinking people. I dunno what is best for Nigeria but I do know that what is best for the 23 non sharia states is to break away as a union and I can bet you anything we will have a North and South Korea situation here is as early as 20 years.

*That is not to say Islam is at fault, it is not, it just happens to be more compatible with people of an unfortunate mindset when human development is considered*
