Buhari is an ldiot, fighting corruption is a waste of time and money. Corruption is human nature, it comes as naturally and fornicating and lying does, you will never get rid of it and reducing it is best achieved by encouraging accountability and not by trying to put the sword to it: sometimes the indirect route is the only route. And the flogging of people crap he was doing when he was Dictator showed just how simple minded he was. Of all the late-comers to industrialization, how many of them did it by humiliating and flogging their citizens? Most importantly of all, if he didn't succeed when he had absolute power does he imagine that now that he will be subject to a constitution and ultimately a National Assembly he will somehow succeed? Buhari means well but he cannot do much with the mental capacity of a peanut. 4 Likes |
Politics / Re: Apc’s Roadmap For Job Creation. Action And Words by CROWE: 1:07pm On Oct 15, 2014 |
This entire write up is designed to exploit the illiteracy of Nigerians. The economy of a nation is improved by investment in infrastructure and government policies designed to create a favourable business environment and then monies injected into the economy to induce growth. All this "we will pay people for 12 months while they look for jobs" is buying votes because if they don't invest in the business environment where is the job that you are supposed to find come from? I dunno who is good for Nigeria or who will fix her but I know that Atiku and Buhari just like most of you here screaming "apc! apc!" lack the faculties necessary to diagnose and fix Nigeria. I will probably be voting Jonathan if I bother to vote at all, he may be so far ineffective but his roadmaps and masterplans are designed by people who have some clue and it shows that there is something running around in his brain after all, more than I can say for most of them. 3 Likes |

Take the American constitution, including the bill of rights and edit it accordingly accounting for the race relevant things and replace the Presidential system in it with Japanese Parliamentary system; Change Senators to state executive appointment subject to state legislative approval every second senator and make it a six year term. Include redistricting rules to prevent gerrymandering and presto - The perfect Modern day constitution. All Nigerias problems are rooted in the constitution, change that and Nigeria will prosper and almost as if overnight. |

Politics / Re: Despite Boko Haram, Inflow Of FDI Is Growing And Poverty Is Reducing In Nigeria by CROWE: 12:11pm On Sep 01, 2014 |
Whatever you are told about poverty reducing in Nigeria is a wrong. Nigeria's economic system is "Socialism" and socialism does not result in growth; that means that Nigeria can get richer but the people will not, no matter what miracle, just like China. To explain further, resource control and revenue allocation are what is socialist about Nigeria and as long as those things remain, nothing will ever increase the purchasing power of the average Nigerian citizen, not in a million years, sorry. There might be some improvement of course, but Nigeria will never move from third world to even second world where countries like South Africa, Malaysia and Russia are placed, not to talk of becoming a developed state. Growth is only ever achieved through Capitalism, thousands of years of human civilization has told us this. |

Abariwiseman: FG should have placed ban on imported vehicle instead of increasing the tarrif. A ban is a horrible idea, bans ruins economies. I believe Buhari banned a lot of importation, nobody remembers his rule fondly. My only worry is that this has to go hand in hand with electricity, these factories that the FG wants to spring up are going to need electricity to supply them o. 1 Like |

This is funny because even the President should not be able to do that. Only the State Governor should have such power assuming it is written in Lagos States Constitution and they are actually convicted of something otherwise they have to be released after a set amount of time or their fate decided by a Lagos state count Judge. manny4life: Thank you for the clarification, I didn't know that. However, even in my post that was just an example to offer perspective, my point was that the contents of the law are to blame and not the Lagos state government, so if you have a problem with them ever exercising their right to say no to the FOI then go to the national assembly and change the law. |
Politics / Re: FOI Not Binding On States- Lagos Govt by CROWE: 1:35am On Jan 05, 2014 |
ImperialYoruba from page one is absolutely right. You cannot ask for anything and just get it, there needs to be somethings that are kept secret. It is difficult to manage these types of things but drawing a line in the sand is stupid. Take the US government for example, with FOI, any bloke can just walk up to the government and demand a list of all undercover agents in the middle east and by law will have to be given this list. You can see how this can pose a problem, our states do not have agents in the middle east and I am quite certain they shouldn't have anything to hide but the principle still stands since we cannot know with any certainty what a state is going to have to deal with. The problem here is not Lagos state, it is the legislation, if there is even a problem, the solution would certainly not be to rave at the Lagos state government like mindless lunatics, it is to go to the national assembly and try to change the law. With what I see here, you idio.ts are no better than the people you criticize, most of you are just as stewpid and ignorant. 1 Like |

dlox147: 35 states can't afford to pay salaries without the federal govt, so what has the progressive states been able to achieve when they cannot even pay salaries of workers..if they where all private companies they would have gone under ..yet they criticize the fed govt Such a silly argument. If none of Nigeria's states are making money then where does the federal government get its money? All of the land in this country belongs to the states so the states should own everything but the federal government has confiscated any high yield property in the county, taking the money that should belong to the states and then giving the states pocket change and claiming to be their saviors. Don't make this kind of silly post with a one sided points of view again. Let us talk about private companies as you put it. In a private company the president of the company is the end all be all of authority but in our states as Amaechi has shown, the federal government interferes and compromises the governors authority. In a private company, when gold is found on one of the companies lands it is theirs to do with as they see fit but in Nigeria the federal government claims that one for theirs. What kind of business is expected to prosper if they have an overlord claiming all their goldmines for its own? To drive this point home, we have a ministry for petroleum resources but not one for each of the other natural resources in this country, why? None of this petroleum resources are in the capital so why is it the federal governments business, all the other tens of natural resources that we have, why doesn't the federal government care about them as much? The federal government is the beginning and the end of all Nigeria's ills. |

Well, if the point of a state is not to generate money then why should it bother to do so? And if anybody is going to argue that they should be generating money then why are they being given oil money? Don't blame the state governments for being human. A man who is gets millions of dollars from his father every year is not going to go to the office. You blame the father for enabling his bad habit so ultimately the federal government is at fault here. Everything in Nigeria is one way or another, the fault of the federal government since they have all the power. |

gurnam: The evil of communism and socialism.... There is nothing wrong with socialism, most north western European countries are socialist and they lead the charts in quality of life. For optimum levels of development you need a healthy bit level of socialism and capitalism. Communism on the other hand is universally bad. ROSSIKE: That is true but there is some difference, China might maintain a communist policy with its people but the government is capitalist. China is a bit like Nigeria in that they claim one thing and then do another, you go to shanghai and everybody is rich and flying around in private jets, importing German cars then you go to Xinjiang and nobody can afford to eat. Romania and co operated communist governments and the politicians stole all the money but China actually operates a capitalist system for the ruling party and their friends and lets the other billion labor in factories in the name of communism. |

karl max: how logical blaming pdp for the failure of apc !! I ask u again did PDP write nigeria constitution. Instead of ur so called progressives to pass bills that would correct these problem u keep harping about!! they are busy raising. A motion to support child marriage (sentor yerima APC) and ur trying to make me believe that PDP is the cause of my local government in lagos not having a public health care center that the land was converted by tinubu and his gang of land grabbers. Nigeria's current predicament is not the fault of whomever wrote the constitution, it is the fault of whomever failed to change it because it has been 14 years, it doesn't take that long to fix it. Problems will always arise, that is the state of this world, it is an unavoidable reality. If you cannot fix a problem then something is wrong with you, if your position is that PDP cannot fix Nigeria's constitution then they should move aside so someone who can gets the chance to. If PDP not being the ones who wrote the constitution really is enough of an excuse for their failing this country as far as you are concerned then we really have nothing to talk about, I am not in the habit of wasting my time on pointless endeavours, it is not like assigning blame is some how going to turn back time to 1999 and fix anything. They have had 14 years and they have failed to solve the Nigerian problem, whomever is sabotaging them is not going to suddenly disappear, as such it is unrealistic to offer them more time, ruthlessness is absolutely necessary, the lives and welfare of over 160 million people are at stake here, we don't need idiots pandering to failures. WE NEED A NEW GOVERNMENT IN 2015! |

Sincere 9gerian: You know, football aside, I honestly think you believe what you are saying. All I have to ask is this. What progress? Nigeria has not progressed in a long time and most certainly not under PDP, there is nothing for APC, governors forum, new PDP, ANPP, CQXYZ or whomever to frustrate. Not telling you to like any party but as patriotic Nigerians with basic intelligence we simply must be united in mutual dislike of PDP at this point. I don't know which party is good for Nigeria but it is certainly not PDP. Before you decide what to eat, you must first remove from the foods in front of you those that are harmful to you, PDP must go in 2015. You can elect an independent for all I care but PDP is certainly not the party to take Nigeria to the next level. We all have to agree on at least that. |
Politics / Re: Power Sector Reforms: FG Ready For Saboteurs by CROWE: 7:15pm On Nov 02, 2013 |
karl max: so PDP made the constitution?. why have the members of the apc in the house of assembly not pass a motion to reduce the amount they collect as salary or refuse to collect the amount to show them as serious people? What have the states done with their allocation and borrowed loans in the case of lagos state that has the highest dept out of the 36 states.don't forget that the governors also collects allocation on behalf of local government....the question I ask have they been able to meet up resposibilities given to them by the constitution like provision of basic amenities like water, primary education, primary health care etc. In eti osa here where I live there are no public health care located in the whole area apart from private hospitals. After 14years of AC- ACN- APC rule, instead the area made available for its construction by jakande has been coverted into an estate by tinubu and his cronies. So when I say all of APC's failures in Lagos are the fault of PDP your response is to list those failures instead of asking me how it is PDP's fault? I will put this question to you though: Do you know as a matter of fact whether all the funds provided by the federal government to the states are sufficient for all of their responsibilities? If not then this is wanton criticism. In your honest opinion will it help Nigeria in any way if a few members of the national assembly decide to wave their right to a salary? Do you believe for a second that someone else won't just put it in their pocket? Also, just in case it escaped you APC members of the national assembly cannot pass a motion on their own, they are after all just a minority part of the whole. PDP did not write the constitution but there are provisions to amend or replace it, if PDP supported a change to the constitution over the last 10 years it would have been so by now. If your argument is that PDP cannot do it then we are screwed, something that they would still have had to work to fix so this is not an excuse. AGAIN I WILL REPEAT, I AM NOT DEFENDING APC, STOP BRINGING APC INTO THIS. THIS IS ABOUT PDP, THEY ARE SUDDENLY MAKING EXCUSES, BLAMING SOMEONE ELSE FOR THEIR FAILURES. Claiming they are out to sabotage them MY ARGUMENT IS, THESE SABOTEURS HAVE ONLY EXISTED SINCE FEBRUARY (8 MONTHS) WHAT WAS THE REASON FOR PDP's FAILURES ALL THE 12-13 YEARS BEFORE THAT. UNLESS YOU PDP FANS CAN GIVE A GOOD EXPLANATION FOR THAT, ALL OF THIS IS GARBAGE. This is not whether APC is just as bad as PDP or not, it is about those PDP snakes suddenly thinking we are stupid and will fall for their, "it is so-so and so's fault that we have failed you". Bullsh!t. |
Politics / Re: Power Sector Reforms: FG Ready For Saboteurs by CROWE: 5:43pm On Nov 02, 2013 |
karl max: and what has APC done in lagos the past 14years apart from fraudulent concessions and spending money for media hype. In Nigeria all states are bound to fail under the current system so you cannot blame any state governor for not turning his state into a modern day Dubai. If any state attempts to become productive our stupid federal allocation system will collect a massive chunk of the profits and share it with everybody else, preventing any growth from being sustained. Basically, under our current system, Nigeria is going nowhere, this system can only be changed by the federal government which is why PDP is directly responsible for the failure of every political party, public service and government project in Nigeria, they run the branch of government will all the power, the same one that is tying us down and the only one in any position to do anything about our predicament. Also, please not that I never praised or defended APC. I simply called PDP out on their silliness and you leapt to their aid, instead of giving a justifiable reason for PDPs failure you started pointing fingers at APC. Your not the type of person to have this debate with, you are too anti-APC or pro-PDP, Nigeria itself is clearly not your priority. 1 Like |
Politics / Re: Power Sector Reforms: FG Ready For Saboteurs by CROWE: 4:39pm On Nov 02, 2013 |
PDP has not done anything productive in Nigeria over the last 14 years, it stands to reason that APC do not need to sabotage them, there has been nothing to sabotage up till now anyway. Now PDP just have someone to blame for failing to do its job. |
Politics / Re: Judge Faults Lagos For Calling Self “the State Of Lagos” by CROWE: 6:39am On Nov 02, 2013 |
Ikengawo: Who told you that Virginia is not a state? commonwealth means absolutely nothing. Its just the official name. As far as the nation is concerned they are just states, the difference is in America nobody cares whether you call yourself commonwealth or not but in Nigeria everything is impudent and secessionist. This designation, which has no legal impact, emphasizes that they have a "government based on the common consent of the people"[5] as opposed to one legitimized through their earlier royal colony status that was derived from the monarch of Great Britain. The word commonwealth in this context refers to the common "wealth", or welfare, of the public[6] and is derived from a loose translation of the Latin term res publica (cf. the 17th-century Commonwealth of England). NO. LEGAL. IMPACT. In other words, its just a fanciable name, its like saying "I ate rice yesterday" or "yesterday, I ate rice". State of Lagos or Lagos state has no bearing on its status in thus nation. Nigeria has gotten paranoid with this whole sovereign thing. Do you know that in Germany they don't only say the state of, they say the FREE state of. I should convince our governor to try it LOL. Also Canada is a Federal Monarchy not a Federal Republic, the queen is the sovereign of Canada. |
Politics / Re: Judge Faults Lagos For Calling Self “the State Of Lagos” by CROWE: 3:46am On Nov 02, 2013 |
Ikengawo: It doesn't matter that the US and Nigeria are both federations. Federation means autonomous units, it has nothing to do with armies. Different federations have different levels of autonomy. In America they may have 54 different national guards for all their separate states but they have one unified education system while in Australia they don't even have national guards but they do have separate education systems for each state. Federalism is a fundamental idea, not a specific set of laws, so the exact manifestation can differ from country to country but as long as the base concept is still there a country is still considered a federal state. Let me tell you the major difference between federal states and unitary state, in a unitary state, the administrative divisions, you can call them region, prefecture it does not matter, they are given their power by the centre and they answer to the centre but in a federal state their power is guaranteed by the constitution and the center is not their boss, he cannot control them or order them around, that is the difference. I stated it previously that even though Nigeria is not technically a federal state because our state governments are the bichettes of the federal government, we just call ourselves federal. This conversation is going off topic. Given that Nigeria is officialy a federal state, by definition our states should be allowed to refer to themselves as the state of xx. The only issue here is that we claim to practice federalism but we have no idea wtf federalism is so when someone tries to do something that is in line with federalism, the stupid federal government comes out and opens its dirty mouth stopping them. The federal government is the problem in Nigeria, it is a powerful monster that is afraid that her children will run away from her so it shelters them, even to the point of denying them a chance at success. P.S. Don't use Russia as a benchmark/example for anything, nobody needs to be looking toward that prison for anything. |
