ba7man: That's why i feel a lot of our politicians a daft. Imagine a senario in which a politician decides to set up say a Cocoa plantation/ processing plant in a rural Ondo location with ill gotten wealth ( I don't support lootin the national treasury but just saying..). He can create this chain reaction that will bring about development.....not stashing it away in an underground room like an illitrate or letting it wallow in a foreign account where its use it to finance the country's economy. The money that is supposed to be used to drive the type of low interest lending to promote biznesses and industries has been looted and instead of re-investing it in the country, they hide it away. Dumb people.
Now that I agree with.
PoliticsRe: Infrastructural Development In Rural Areas by CROWE: 3:18am On Jan 25, 2013
It is not the governments job to provide industries, this is not a communist nation, the government will provide an environment suitable for the people to start up industries and erect their own empires. It is only in countries were people are not free that the government owns the companies.

Nike, Adidas, BMW, Mercedes, Microsoft, Apple, Toyota, Honda, Sony etc, these are some of the largest companies in the world, read their histories, the governments had nothing to do with the formation of any of them, I repeat, the government provides the environment and NOTHING more.

To put it more clearly, they provide cheap lending rates so people can gain capital, provide electricity, provide pipe borne water and provide good roads to connect these rural areas to the capital but as for full on hospitals and such that has to come as a result of triggered development and not before. Countries are built by their people, not by the government, it is what it means to industrialize, to allow/encourage the people to unleash their full potentials and that has been Nigeria's problem, the government took absolute control of the economy and basically gagged us all.

lmfao, how is Nigeria's history older than Britain?
PoliticsRe: Infrastructural Development In Rural Areas by CROWE: 2:51am On Jan 25, 2013
Wadeoye: Stay there to eat electricity?
It is the governments job to encourage business, entrepreneurship and industry with a favorable environment, cheap electricity will help to that end. If you cannot even see that then you should probably learn how to eat electricity cuz you are screwed otherwise.
PoliticsRe: Infrastructural Development In Rural Areas by CROWE: 10:13pm On Jan 24, 2013
I understand that electricity is going to be cheaper in the rural areas to encourage people to stay there and develop them, its a sound plan. We will see.
PoliticsRe: Bravo Amanpour Brought Goodluck On His Kneel, He Started Telling Lies By Musiwa by CROWE: 10:11pm On Jan 24, 2013
Amanpour's interview was rather pedestrian, I was expecting a more heated and intellectual conversation what will all the hype, I was disappointed. Jonathan responded quite well if your not biased against him like musiwa12 is, you'd see that.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Leader Wants Mali Rebels Crushed by CROWE: 10:05pm On Jan 24, 2013
Mali rebels want the land for themselves, any peace agreement would mean a loss for independence and freedom. It won't be long before they come again and again until they force their ideologies on us, these are two opposite forces, for the clashing to stop one needs to be overcome, on this I agree with GEJ.

noblezone: How will you tame Islam?
How will you tame ethnic suspicious?
Ethnic suspicion can be tamed by freeing the economy from the government. If the money moves over to the private sector public service quickly becomes less illustrious and the bickering will reduce, especially since Nigeria has many different tribes so the ethnic lines are a bit blurry and it becomes easier to cross them. For example, in my life experience we have never seen each other as Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, it is not always immediately obvious what ones tribe is when you look at him. It doesn't register the way it does in other countries where the entire ethnicity of a people is clearly written on their faces so when we go "Igbo!!, Igbo!!, Igbo!!", we are not as attached to the concept as the serbs in Austria-Hungary were. It is more a response to the fact that things are messed up, we don't have deep rooted hatred for one another.

As for Islam, that is the big one isn't it? I dunno for sure how we will fix that, the only real way is to educate them, education is the cure to radical mindless behavior, that will take a long long time so I am kind of leaning towards splitting off from the radical islamic regions.
PoliticsRe: Obi Announces Plan To Build Malls by CROWE: 10:32am On Jan 24, 2013
I am assuming road maintenance, bridges and all the necessary infrastructure is already scheduled and paid for or under construction since we have started building malls for spending of money that Nigerians don't have? Obi is a very interesting man.

jp philips: you said we should be constructive with our criticisms, yet you wrote this; please answer the following questions;

How was the naira the most performing currency last year and kindly define "most performing" for us?
I said best performing, those words carry slightly different meanings even in this case, It means that the value of the Naira maintained itself well through the economic turbulence of the year, fluctuating or unstable values affects businesses, the Nairas movement if you will was very good for business even though sadly there are no businesses in Nigeria to capitalize on this.

jp philips:
What was the inflation rate of Nigeria before and after Buhari left office?
I cannot say I remember the exact figures, suffice it to say that it is whatever it was when he took office by whatever times IBB devalued the Naira. Buhari's trade policies devalued the Naira and he maintained it artificially in the name of encouraging homeland manufacturing without actually pushing the industry, also a powerful currency is not exactly best for manufacturing so that was a counter-intuitive move. there are also obviously negative economical effects to artificially raising or lowering the value of your currency, if you do not take advantage of it then you are doubly damaging your currency

jp philips:
what was IBB exporting from Nigeria so much that he had to devalue the Naira to this sorry state unlike South-Korea you mentioned?
As I said artificially floating or devaluing a currency has its inherently negative side effects on the currency of a nation otherwise people would just do it to make their currencies look good, depending on how your economy works tho the upside might be better off or businesses may have already taken advantage of it that it is best to keep going that way, Nigeria had no large scale exporting to take advantage of it and it is absurd to keep it up there and improve manufacturing to take advantage of it, like I said, the value itself meant nothing so why take all the losses for many years just because you don't want to put a currency where it should be, faking it would only serve to fool the common Nigerian that our economy is good when it actually is not. Look at the euro, good for Germany, bad for Italy, if it was only up to Italy they should devalue it. The Naira is too weak tho since we do a lot more importing but keeping it there would have been worse.

jp philips:
would there be Boko haram if the armed forces under Bro. jo was not kind enough to murder their leader and members in cold blood?
I don't understand this one but I will say yes, you see for Jo who I imagine is Jonathan to even get the opportunity to murder their leaders in cold blood they'd have to already exist otherwise how would they have leaders, if there is any reason why you think they'd have disbanded had they still had their leaders then tell us please.

jp philips:
please i will need constructive answers to these questions

Your tone of writing suggests you are the type to call people derogatory names, I will remind you to remain constructive if you disagree with any of my points and leave the swear words out of it.
PoliticsRe: New National Carrier In Final Approval Stage -minister by CROWE: 8:18pm On Jan 23, 2013
A national carrier is an organization that identifies with the nation, it doesn't have to be owned by it, it is basically our cheerleader/advertisement to the world. The lufthansa is the German flagship airline, about 87% of it is privately owned, it just flies the German flag and advertises Germany to the world, hope that helps. That said it better not be called airways. air or airlines is fine but airways is so yesterday.
PoliticsRe: Objectively List The Sins Of The President by CROWE: 7:41pm On Jan 23, 2013
Before I begin let me just say thank you all for criticizing Jonathan, we need to keep our leaders on their toes, if states are ever given autonomy carry the criticism over to your governors as well.

Now you people should know that the Naira was the best performing currency last year, Jonathan's problem may be that he is not as efficient as we'd like him to be but we cannot accuse him of not knowing what needs to be done, he may not be moving quickly but at least he is better than what we've had until now. I mean, Buhari destroyed our economy, people blame IBB for devaluing the Naira but valuation of a currency can either be good or bad, it is ignorance that leads us to believe that it matters, the South Korean won is 6 times weaker than the Naira but their economy is much stronger. Most of you people don't actually know what it takes to make a country good, you dunno what exactly is wrong in Nigeria and how to fix it, you just complain like entitled little kids and you are entitled but at least try to get a clue before yapping bullshit, Jonathan is doing many things right and by 2015 Nigeria will be a visibly better place unless his lack of success with boko haram gets him undone, it is Nigeria's only big problem, boko haram. Corruption is not a problem, all governments are corrupt, corruption in Nigeria is so bad because our economy is tied to the government, something that Jonathan is working hard to undo. Jonathan is not perfect, even the American founding fathers had their fails, Thomas Jefferson nearly destroyed Americas economy with his embargo act of 1807. There have been few truly all-wise leaders in history, cut the man a little slack and do try to know even a little of what needs to be done before you complain, it serves us all better if our arguments are constructive.

You can just watch it on CNN, I don't think its the type of thing that will be online. Give it a day and it will probably be on youtube though.

PoliticsRe: Attack On Emir: Presidency Hits Back At Buhari by CROWE: 12:06pm On Jan 23, 2013
Nigeria needs to heap piles and piles of money into security, triple the size of the police force if not more and protect the people for fVcks sake. There are many unemployed people in Nigeria so we are not lacking in man power, we also need to man the norther border by the thousands and turn that place into a minefield, we need to protect northern Nigerians from poor Jihadists across the border who want to make our country a hell hole like theirs.

PoliticsRe: What OBJ Says About GMB by CROWE:
He can be as upright as he likes, we don't need a naive Idi.ot as our president that is all. The stupid moves he made economically when he ruled this country, we don't need that and we don't see him talking about the economy and ways to improve and industrialize Nigeria so we can't assess his current understanding of the matter either. He is over 70 and is governed by morals and ideological values, that is not what we are looking for in a president, if he wants to go and be a spiritual/religious leader good on him but we don't need that bullshit running our country. We live in a material world and what we need are more modern and progressive minded rules, the dried up cunts of yesteryear should move along!!

P.S. Idi.ot is a noun, when you remove it altogether from a statement the remaining statement ceases to make sense, replace it with something or stop removing it, also it is not a swear word so why do you remove it? There are people who despite not clinically can be accurately described as being Idi.ots so like.....stop messing with my vocabulary >.>

That's not an opinion, what it is is telling propaganda, he obviously supports Boko haram and in one capacity or another he is probably an active member.
PoliticsRe: Islamic Group Claims Attack On Mali-bound Nigerian Troops by CROWE: 5:06am On Jan 21, 2013
Of course they will head south, when they feel they are consolidated in the north they will head south, we need to cut off northern Nigeria from the rest of Islamic West Africa so that we nip this bullshit in the butt before it gets worse. It should be illegal to just cross boarders anyway and they particularly mean evil for Nigeria, we are in our rights to set up a death wall up there and we should do so pronto. KILL as many of those mindless lunatics as possible, they are the ones brainwashing our northerners and teaching them prejudice and hatred!!!
PoliticsRe: Islamic Group Claims Attack On Mali-bound Nigerian Troops by CROWE: 3:37am On Jan 21, 2013
