Arresting people is an action reserved for when those people have broken the law or are reasonably thought to have, even if Buhari may have been wrong, if criticizing the government(because that is all he did) is wrong now they should let us know. The CAN man is very stupid, I imagine he was one of those calling for Amaechi to be arrested. |
koruji: Hihihi....I am referring mostly to finances though, the federal government collects almost all monies made in Nigeria and has set up a system that cripples the states, making it impractical for them to even try to make any money. All these pictures of cars, buses and desktops in this thread, that is incredible amounts of money spent then they will need to continue to put so much more into maintenance, pay so many teachers and with so many people suffering a lot of this infrastructure will get stolen further rising the cost of governance. As time passes governance gets progressively difficult at the state level because most of the money invested is siphoned to the federal level, all you end up having is investments that cannot be maintained. The Federal government and all its imperial powers and taxes is what is ruining Nigeria because it is impossible for all the money that goes there to get back to the states in efficient circulation. You can probably tell that I am a supporter of the governors forum and their clamor for more power, it is only in Nigerians federation that the states don't have the power. Anyway, i digress, that is not what this thread is about though for me it always seems to come to that For me the best governors are the ones that have opposed the federal government the most, there can be no task more important that challenging the tyranny of our federal government, a government that has forgotten that it is it who must serve us and not the other way around. |
Being a governor must be one of the worst jobs for someone who isn't a glorified crook to do, you get all the judgement and none of the power, because the presidency has cornered your share of it. |
Ghana does need Nigeria, for West Africa to become an internationally attractive business zone Nigeria must sort herself out, something that could easily double the economy of Ghana, Ghana will develop and it will not spread far outside its borders but if Nigeria fixes its situation it will be felt over large parts of Africa and this is a feedback loop an it will further stimulate growth in Nigeria(it is as the LA times reporter said, "Nigeria is in a uniquely importnant position in deciding the profile of black people all over the world"), Ghana will never truly achieve the lofty heights of the Netherlands and Norway without Nigeria helping to make West Africa the global economic zone it needs to be, Nigeria can gain from Ghana as well but due to size disparity it won't be nearly as much as the reverse. |
I knew that someone would pop up saying nonsense, if it is the opinion of the majority of PDP people that Jonathan continue as president in 2015 then there is no need to do this automatic ticket nonsense, this can only serve to deny other PDP people who would want to run in 2015 a chance to do so, it is anti-democratic at its core and there is no precedent for it, everybody should be given a chance, and PDP's internal shenanigans is an indicator of how they will be as leaders, if you can change rules in a system on the fly to suite whatever selfish desires you have at any given time then what are the rules there for in the first place. I was curious what someone was going to say in defense of PDP and here you are, all sorts of ignorant things and evil always find people to support them. I am just glad no one is my family is this unreasonable. PS. PDP should be suspended by INEC for anti-democratic behavior, wheres you're logic now billyonaire, where is it? |
You people are the same ones that will complain about the Nigerian government, wondering why Nigeria is so corrupt, here it is right in your faces and instead of condemning it you are ridiculing the man who despite his potentially questionable motives is standing up for what is right. PDP have used and abused every loophole in the constitution and now they are fabricating ones in their own party. Some people want Jonathan in office by 2016 come hell or high water so they proceed to deny other pdp members the right to vote and be voted for. If PDP cannot run a clean, fair and most of all democratic party then how can they be exppected to do it in government? Also, if they would go this far to guarantee that GEJ represents the party then who is to say they won't try to abuse the election process as well and rig him back in. This should be very alarming to all of you, it is yet another Nigerian made attack on the people and their democracy, another method by which PDP want to take us for a ride and you are all more interested in Atiku, when you complain about Nigeria and wonder what our problems are, do us all a favour and look in your mirrors. |
Look at the Nigerian government, how has Amaechi broken Nigerian laws that they have cause to impeach him? |
musiwa26: nobody forgot to include impreachment of local govt.Lord, what in Gods name does democracy have to do with impeachment? Democracy has no definitions for Impeachment, democracy is simply a government elected by the people and everything else is up to the government so stop saying baseless things, it is a government by government decision what the circumstances and provisions for impeachment will be, for example: Impeachment in the The United States "The procedure for impeachment, or removal, of local officials varies widely. For instance, in New York a mayor is removed directly by the governor "upon being heard" on charges — the law makes no further specification of what charges are necessary or what the governor must find in order to remove a mayor." Next time don't attribute such things to democracy, impeachment and democracy are as unrelated a it gets. |
The funny thing about it is that I think the only reason why it is not possible to sack him is because someone forgot to include it, because those people are useless, if they forget to give them duties and powers it is not so unthinkable that they forgot to include conditions for impeachment. Their offices were simply created and forgotten about, why they were created we still cannot be sure. Makes you wonder about our constitution, the people who crafted it and what they were smoking when they did....... I kinda sorta hope now that they get shafted by rabbid dogs. |
the funclub enterprise: Doesn't he see power ratings in his everyday electronics? It doesn't matter how often he has seen it, if he doesn't care about it he will not notice or register it, that is how people are, ALL PEOPLE(even you). |
taharqa2: IGNORAMUS.. If you knew anytin bout what is going on in Nigeria currently, you wud hv known easily that MOST of d 17 or so odd Promises you listd above hv either been done or is been done mid-way tru (repeat, MOST of them). If these were the Promises you are holding the President and if your intent was to 'prove' the President has failed in fulfiling them, then you hv Failed WOEFULLY on account of yr incredible Ignorance.... Little KIDSI dunno about most of them but I remember hearing airports in all the states and this talk aboout university in all the state capitals? Sounds like a pretty naive thing to say. |
Goodluck Jonathan only needs to give us one thing, State Autonomy. The rest of it is compensation, Nigeria is a big country and one man cannot build it. The governors need to be able to participate effectively and they cannot do that unless they have absolute control over their domain. There is so much power at the center the rest of the government is now an empty shell and then we wonder why we have ineffectual and corrupt government, the only branch of government when any control has far too much to do and it cannot keep up, suddenly the oil spills in the Niger Delta seem like trivial matters, the early days of Boko Haram were also a fringe problem, basically any problem in any state becomes a fringe problem when you have fucking 36 of them to look after and end of not looking after any of them properly. Nigeria is too big for one man to govern, stop fighting a loosing battle and justify the existence of the states. Oh and local governments need to be scrapped. @rajkard,the second he promised those things you should have know he was not the man for Nigeria. He clearly means well and is trying his best but effort is useless when channeled in the wrong direction. |
the funclub enterprise: Leave him he doesn't know what a mega watt is that's why, 1 mega watts is a million watt,That is a pretty poor example to use though, 1,000,000 Naira is over 130,000,000 vietnam dong so the fact that the watts are in hundreds of millions doesn't say much for it, for all he knows 700,000,000 watts may not be enough to power a car or it may be enough to power a country, to put the amount of power that is into perspective you need to tell him how much he can do with that much power not the bare value on a scale that he cannot immediately understand. /not criticising, just giving a bit of advice. |
And who told you that is the only one we have in construction? |
chebeoc: if the f.g are not paying civil servants and they're not awarding contracts i wonder where people that hustle will see money to make, or you think that money people makes every year fall from heaven,or the millions business men makes every year is from Ghana economy or diasporas remit all of them. That is the problem, the federal government is the one feeding Nigerians, there is not enough to go around and many people are starving. We'd do much better off if they provided a regulated environment were every man can fend for himself instead of doing it for us. You people are too easily impressed, the projects Jonathan has all over Nigeria, there are single cities that have had more than that at any given time not to talk of the countries at large, I am not saying that Jonathan is not doing well because he is but this is a consolation prize, what we need is for him to give the states autonomy so they can truly function as intended and you will find that these kinds of projects will increase ten fold. |
Why do they need these types of cars, is Dubai full of street racers? |
The problem with Nigeria is that we have this propensity to look at our government like a meritocracy in which the president is president by virtue of his superior wisdom and ability so we tend to jump at the opportunity to give him whatever powers we can but it is because the president is all and get out that the rest of our government is a farce and the country is in an advanced state of disrepair, here they concluded that what three men could not do one man can do, forgetting that they have also made this one man lord over 33 other states, it is far too much and the president cannot influence and stimulate the country all by himself. |
All of this nonsense is silly, the governors forum shouldn't have to exist in the first place, stupid Gej give the states their autonomy so they don't need to gang up. |
By virtue of the fact that Nigeria is a federation all the power should be with the governors in the first place so they are technically fighting for something that should be theirs by default. Local Government autonomy is like communism, it is a good idea in theory but it fails to work in practice and practice is what matters. The presidents war with Amaechi dispels any thought that he is sitting terrified, the constitution makes him an emperor in Nigeria. If anybody wants me to elaborate on anything here I will be glad to. |
deletrue: My God! This question show who you are! I have strong doubt if you will be able to comprehend if answers are provided to your question. However, for the sake of it, i will in turn, respond to your low level question by asking you why are other governors from other parties such as Acn, cpc interested in pdp governor's issue, which is purely internal.hahahahahaha, so because I don't know what Amaechi did i have low IQ or what? I didn't realize that the events of any persons life constitute common sense, you are a very special individual and I recommend you get a new brain. You were also told either by a person or the news, you cannot just know, common sense is something that is obvious and whether Amaechi is a disloyal party member is not obvious to anyone who has a brain, I can also tell that you are a mindless pdp drone because I never said anything about any other parties yet here you are attacking me on the subject, making this a pdp vs apc/cpc war. I feel sorry for your parents, it takes a special kind of idiocy for someone to think "what did he do" is stewpid question, its not as if I can seeing Amaechi caught pants down in a room with someone elses wife that you would assume I should know what he did without being told. |
Expelling him from PDP is not the end of the world, if he bends to their will i will be disappointed because it gives power to the party that it shouldn't have.. |
delvinmaya: @crowe, you are definitely no different from other people you are trying to educate. How dare you say Russia is technically a developing state? They hold a permanent seat in the UN security council and are presently what is keeping Assad in power against countries like the US and Britain. Dat is me educating you. The truth is what is happening btw presido and amaechi is abnormal, but attempting to deride the country by claiming it doesnt happen in the western world shows your inferiority complex. Bro,its been proven that Africa is the cradle of life. Be proud of yourselfSigh, Russia is like North Korea, they are strong as far as military and government goes but that doesn't make them a developed state, the people are starving while the nation pretends to be Americas equal. Russia has a strong government but being a strong and prosperous state is a whole other ball game, the average american makes $49k a year, the average Russian makes $15k, most western nation including singapore, korea etc have standards of living almost triple that of Russia, Russia is not on the same level as them, they are just puffing their chest and I don't have an inferiority complex, i consider myself a particularly knowledgeable and wise human being thank you very much, more than what I can say for most people including westerners, they just know how to run their countries, what should be what and how things must be. delvinmaya: @crowe, as an after thought, understand now that no society has achieved that standard you so emphasize. The US is guilty of spying on its people and worse. Cos we have not heard is cos we chose to. Another thing is these high standards are just refined ways of still messing up. The world, despite its advancement is still same. Scandals, killings and a whole lot worse things happen in these developed countries like they do hereIt is impossible to completely eradicate crime, fraud etc but let me tell you, in denmark recently a fireman saved a cat, that is like attention to detail, when everything else works so well that you begin to occupy yourself with the otherwise trivial, in Nigeria were everyone is worrying about diesel, salary and there are no fire trucks ad mindless religious conflicts no one is going to bother himself with the plight of a cat, his bothering with it is a sign that things work so well in his country that there is a bare minimum to worry about. I dunno where you get the idea that I am talking about a perfect society, I am talking about the government and how it influences societies and nations, having a working government is not going to make the serial rapist change his behavior, I am not delusional you know. |
Pennywise: Who is this person and where is he from? Are you going to tell us who we are as Nigerians or what a Nigerian president can or cannot do?That in a nutshell is why Nigeria fails, why do we even have governors if the president is more or less a king, he should just title himself as such and let us abolish this faux federal republic. |
EFCC and the army exist to enforce Nigerias laws and safe guard the well being of the nation and its people not punish people who disobey PDP. |
Pennywise: OBJ could have done anything from sending EFCC after Amaechi or the Army to River's State Govt House to remove the Governor.Using government departments for personal vendettas, its no wonder Nigeria is a hole rats wouldn't want to live in. |
Ola one: Thank you sir. Now, how do you you think OBJ would have treated an incorrigible governor like Amaechi? Please, give us your opinion. Thank you.I cannot speak to the actions of OBJ as a person, as a leader of pdp it is expel or suspend but as president he really has no relation to Amaechi's actions, again, the only transgression that I have been told here is running for ngf chairman against party orders, in which again all they can do is suspend or expel him FROM THE PARTY. |
Ola one: I ask you again, CROWE, why did the Labour Party of Britain suspend Galloway. Does that mean Britain is not in the West?Obviously if the image a person is displaying does not conform with the group he is in they remove him, but that was not all pdp had against him was it? And I never complained about the sacking, I complained that pdp had no business telling him how to run his state, something which was apparently considered when the decision to punish him was made, and there really should not be an investigation into him. |
Local government autonomy is a horrible idea though, it is kind of like communism, it sounds like a good idea but when you consider it in practice you realize its impracticality. |
delvinmaya: @ crowe, read this, brings into perspective for yoy the developed world you claim dont do this, www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/09/28/AR2010092806414.htmllol let me educate you, Russia is very different from the west, it is still technically a developing state, only st petersburg, moscow and a few places are developed, most of it is shit and the gdp per capita is Russia is low, it is also a totalitarian state where the people have no freedoms, most of its leaders were kgb so things like spying on their citizens, oppressing and controlling them is still very real there. Calling Russia a developed state is an insult to the countries that have actually strived for high standards of society. Ola one: It is not strange for a party to ask a governor to preclude the execution of a judgement if the said judgement will likely jeopardize the interest of the party in question. He was asked to stay this jugement but he didn't.Just because something happens often doesn't make it okay, a party cannot ask a governor to run his office as suits their interests, his office is in service to and for the people, that is abuse of office and he is right to refuse it. |
Ola one: Okay bro, if I may ask you, tell me why the Labour Party of BritainAre you asking me about Galloway or telling me? Ola one: Fine. What else have they done to him?Apparently GEJ launched an investigation into his administration, also you are making a defensive argument here, I was told that the suspension was also punishment for his suspending/sacking someone in rivers which pdp should not be involved in, lets not try to pretend pdp didn't hold that against him because they apparently did. |
Ola one: Good. At least you know he crossed the line.why should he go scot-free?Someone was talking about an investigation, investigation for what? He disobeyed an order and they suspend or expel him and that is as far as it goes, the rest of it is abuse of power. |
Symphony007: you are a goat, you and all who think like you deserve this 5th world nation you're living in. Look at what you're saying an elected president should do to an elected governour. How shamefull...nigerians deserve what they have had, have now and will continue to have. If a president can bully a whole governour like this, how much more an ordinary, powerless nigerian...genesis of tyranny!Exactly, the governors were elected by the people, the president should have no power over them, only in Nigeria. Ola one: HeTechnically people are suspended pending investigations as for the rest of it the party really shouldn't be telling him how to run his state though they are in their right to try to stop him from running for ngf post all in all I knew pdp were crossing some kind of lines as well, Nigeria for you. Ola one: forget utopia my brother. How many times did Obasanjo do it?Its not utopia, it doesn't happen in developed countries, if there is no proper distribution of powers the government fails, why do you think Nigeria is a dump? It is because GEJ is king and everyone else is a goat waiting for orders, it is pretty fucking difficult to heard 170 million goats. |
For me the best governors are the ones that have opposed the federal government the most, there can be no task more important that challenging the tyranny of our federal government, a government that has forgotten that it is it who must serve us and not the other way around.
