Save UpTo 700 to 800k and go buy tokunbo engine for Oyingbo or Ladipo. Use 400 to 500 buy engine the remaining balance for workmanship and your hotel bills.

This is the best advice for this case. I pray the man listens. Engine rebuilds in Nigeria is just buying an additional 6 months life for the already dead engine.

If that's the only code it's throwing, then you need to fix it. It's locally called "Gear Switch" I think the one that's on the top of the gear is the culprit here.

Good morning everyone, I scanned my 2009 Honda Accord EX 2.4L K24Z3 engine with an OBDII... These are the results. Prior to that I noticed that my car had poor acceleration especially when I turned on the AC. Along the line it started burning my AC compressor. I got tired and decided to forget about the AC, but now I want to fix the AC coz of the dry season. Now I noticed my car consumes fuel, and also has low compression. The codes shows this engine have gone through serious works in the past. I won't advice you to spend further on this engine, because it has used its life span already. Any work you do on it now is just to buy you few months of additional life on the engine and it won't come cheap.

Save up and replace the engine.

You can get anything you need from him. Been using him for few years now and he has never disappointed me. The only time I had issues with him was a new ball joint I once got from him which didn't last long before getting bad and he gave a replacement for free which costs higher than the one I got.

Total mlvl is the name. I've never seen the 4L before just the 1L so I usually buy 4.

Has anyone DIY fixed a ball joint of a 7th (2006) gen Honda Accord .?

I don't want to use the Nigerian mechanic method of slamming it with a hammer, it makes the ball joint fail prematurely

I am thinking of buying a C/G clamp, the regular ones used by carpenters/welders, I am unsure if it would have enough force to press it in ... The tool for pressing ball joints is quite expensive to buy. Or is there any service that rents such tool out ?

The C/G clamp if I remember correctly has just one side. What you need for the ball joint is two mouthed clamp.

I've once seen a locally constructed clamp for working on ball joint but I didn't ask where it was construed or gotten from. You can visit ladipo market if you're in Lagos, they sell some locally constructed tools for working on cars, you might be lucky to find one for ball joints.

There's no check engine code or light and i don't see any blue smoke when revved. All i see for now is black smoke and i was advised to change my upstream o2 sensor..i change my oil every 3000km but as I'm typing this I'm on 2300km and i have used up 6 liters of oil. ☹️

Mehn.... I don't see how changing your 02 sensor relates to the oil burn issue because you're likely having both oil and too much fuel being burned during combustion, and a worn piston might be the major culprit here. Have a good engineer inspect the valve seals, PCV Valve, fuel injectors and your cylinder/cylinder walls. One of it might be the culprit here since you claim there is no code after your scan.

Like I said earlier, your engine might be at its final stage of life, just start saving up for a new engine at worst.

I also started buying at 8500. Is pure guard good too? I doubt it quality will be up total's MLVL.

This MLVL is it a transmission oil or or normal engine synthetic oil? I tried looking it up on Google but nothing came up. Please help with the full name. Thanks

After solving the P2649 issue by changing the Rocker Arm Actuator, the check engine light went off.
Just after 2days, I realized the check engine come on again. On Scanning I got this......

p0134: you may need to change the 02 Sensor on your exhaust manifold, as the scan shows it's defecting no activity. First inspect around it to be sure there is no corossion or broken wires before changing it.

P0172/p0175: Your Air/Fuel sensor is giving this code. But I'll suggest you fix the 02 Sensor issue first then drive around for few days and scan again to be sure the 02 Sensor is not also the reason for these codes. I once experienced this code after my 02 Sensor also failed and it went away after changing the 02 Sensor.

P0128: check your ECT sensor to be sure it's in good condition.

P0430: be like say your motor no get catalysts oo. Have you confirmed there is a catalyst?

I don't advise changing your oil type yet.

First scan to see if it throws any code because various issues causes engine oil shortage and majority of it is a sign of the final stage of engine life.

My accord 2005 sometimes finds it hard to change gears cos it delays and revs high b4 selecting the next gear and other times it drives very smooth and picks well. What might be wrong please, any suggestions will be well taken. Also there is a scratching sound in the engine when it revs. I was told solution is to replace the whole engine. If there is anyone who has a contact person for engine sales in Lagos mainland or if I can get linked up with a good mechanic so I can get everything checked.

Sir that your gear has come to its final stage of life. Anyway you can visit a gear specialist and have it scanned first to see if fixing the fiber or filter or other minor components would help improve the gear, but just know it doesn't come cheap because it will cost you at least 150k to bring down this gear and work on it. In my own opinion I would advise you to just get another gear if you can, since you have also been advised to change your engine, you can just muscle up and replace both of them. 1.1m should get you the engine and gear if you trade in the old ones you're removing.

Sorry about this painful experience. But why not scan the car first to get a headway on what might be wrong, instead of throwing in parts based on guesses.

From the way the car stays on and goes off afterwards, a lot of issues can cause that engine behavior that's why you need to run a scan to point you in the right direction, so you don't end up messing up the engine badly

There was no vacuum leaks.
The throttle body and Idle Air intake valve was dirty..it was cleaned with Carb cleaner including the sensor.
The rough idling has stopped ..
Now I'm faced with a new challenge.
The rpm doesn't exceed 3000 when raised on idle and the cruise control function has stopped working..

From one issue to another

Modified: I rechecked the throttle body..I discovered the MAP sensor was partially disconnected. I plugged it back and the RPM went above 4000 rpm..
Sigh of relief

I'm glad you were able to sort this issue out and you even gave update on it.

Sometimes little knowledge and testimonies from others who have experienced same issue saves us a lot of stress and money.

My rad doesn't have the ECT 2 Sensor so the ECU keeps popping the code. I don't know how to get rid of it . That's the only code showing when I scanned it.
Secondly..I'm experiencing a kind of rough idle.. sometimes it will stick to 500rpm creating vibrations. At other point..it would be oscillating between 400-900rpm..
The car moved fine under throttle and the MPG is fair for a 07 Accord I4.
What could I do to remove the rough idling.
I've checked the ignition coils and spark plugs..all good. Nothing wrong with the fuel filter as well..

From what you mentioned concerning the rough idle and low RPM, I'll suggest you inspect thoroughly for carbon deposits in specific areas like the EGR, throttle body, exhaust manifold, and one other place at the top of your engine (I don't know what it's called but it packs lots of carbon as well). Also check your fuel injectors to be sure none of them are blocked and they are all spraying fuel easily

I once experienced same issue without any check engine light on the dashboard. Those mentioned areas above were cleaned out and my car started breathing fine.

I have replaced the knock sensor and the code still came back.
I don't experience any hard start even if car is parked for 3 day or beyond, it starts immediately.

For the P0685, I've done countless search on Google and YouTube but I can't locate that particular relay.

I will change the upstream 02 sensor and see if there will be any improvements and also the coolant sensor. I believe that one is the sensor on the radiator.

Abeg if you have idea where the PCM/ECM or the starter relay is located, kindly point it out to me. Thanks

You see that knock sensor, as small as it is, it's one of the things that has given me nightmare in the past. If you can get the part number, of the previous one, it will make your work easier if not, you will test plenty types before you'll find the one that matches your vehicle. I tested more than 30 before I found the one that worked.

Anyway for the PCM relay, I'll advise you find a very competent rewire to help you check the whole module and confirm the status of things.

Hello my bosses. These codes are what I've been having from 07 civic. Each time I clear these codes and drive for a long time they always come back. That P0685 has been my major issue as I don't even know where the relay is located. I have changed the knock sensor though but I haven't change the 02 sensor. My gut is telling me the 02 and knock sensor codes are triggered by that P0685.

I used Torque converter pro Bluetooth app with NEXAS obd2 Bluetooth scanner to scan.
Make una help in pointing me to the right direction. Each time I clear code, check engine light will go away only to return after several drive minutes. Sometimes my RPM will begin to misbehave.

Clearing these codes won't help you in any way. Those codes came up because those faults needs to be fixed.

P0137- Your 02 Sensor is most likely dead, you need to get a replacement. Are you experiencing a high fuel consumption lately?

P0325- Your knock sensor is bad as well. You must be experiencing rough idling and stalling of engine/ low performance of engine when on motion. That's why your RPM is misbehaving

P0685- Your ecm/pcm power relay control circuit/open. You might need to inspect your starter relay and it's wiring. Are you experiencing a hard start?

P2185- Your engine coolant temperature sensor needs to be checked and changed if possible.

C1555- The fault is too advance for your OBD scanner that's why it brought out this code. But you might need to check you ABS first.

If you don't fix these issues, the codes will keep coming back no matter how much you clear them.

I guess you'll have to visit a spare parts market to make your purchase oo. Considering the sensitivity of O2 sensors, it's even advisable to visit the market with your car to make your purchase or else you'll end up paying huge amounts to logistics because of returns due to incompatibility

Posting a car with a messed up ABS and saying the engine is sound will be very hard to believe. If the previous owner can maintain the engine like you claimed, why can't he just replace the ABS module?

The 2019 non turbo is very advisable for a first timer.

If you're looking for a car that can withstand abuse, due to bad maintenance culture, please stay away from Honda products. But if you need a car that will give you better performance, tech and balance amongst others then that car is the right choice for you. Just ensure you carry out proper maintenance and don't cut corners when replacing or maintaining parts, then you won't have any problem.

the MDX is a great performance car with modern technology and features that is still very much in vogue. Has very good balance and heavily built for durability, however, the replacement parts can be very pricey because it doesn't share any parts with other vehicles, but only shares a few parts with Honda Pilot 08 model upwards.

The engine comes in 3.7L V6, so if you're looking for fuel economy, please stay away from that car because the engine capacity and performance makes it a fuel guzzler.

I'll advise you go for 2010 upwards because it has an upgraded body kits, infotainment, dashboard and few other mechanics.

Please I need help. I drive a Honda Accord 2001 model(Baby Boy), I had issues with my Ignition switch which I bought another one,which the rewire removed some part of the new ignition switch and coupled it with the faulty one,the car worked.
I wasn't there when he did the fix,so he said he drove the vehicle and he noticed it was not selecting properly and advised I top up the gear oil which we did immediately while the car was still on,mind you I haven't used any oil since September 2024 that I bought the car, so I used power steering oil in the red container which wasn't enough, so the rewire brought Dextron III for Highlander SUV which we used to fill up.

When I tried to drive off some 10minutes after, the car couldn't move when put on Drive but reverses fine. When I switched off and start the car again,it drives but it was dragging when am not speeding and it making noise when it changes from one gear to the other which the car doesn't do before.

I have scanned the car and what it brought is this:

Please what can I do to solve this problem,I have managed to drive to my mechanic's place. Which Gear oil works best for the Car and is readily available please?

Bro I find it hard to want to believe you actually used a power steering oil on your gear and your mechanic was also there watching?

Anyway you need to change that mechanic first then, you look for someone to do a total flush of your transmission oil for you before you finally fix that solenoid issue.

Honda have a sensitive transmission, you don't go around messing up with it, else you will pay dearly for it. I just hope you don't end up buying another transmission.
