you will just have to be careful when driving through a bad spot be that na. Don't worry, that car is bulletproof, I've never seen anyone complain of having gearbox or engine damaged due to bad road conditions, na only leg you go just dey fix once in a while.

The car is a good buy if you find a good unit to buy. It's a 4-cylinder engine just like the EOD but has better tune-ups and slightly modern interiors and tech more than the EOD.

It's body still passes for a modern car in 2025, so you're good to go, na wetin you like and wetin you fit buy, we no go let anybody pressure us abeg.

I currently own a 2015 Honda Accord, my experience so for has been really good. I've had it for 2 years and have not had to do much beyond routine servicing.

I am looking to get a 2021 Honda Accord 2.0T. I've read a lot of not so great things - mostly online about the turbo charged engine and I'd like to hear from people here who have first hand experience with the 2.0T turbo engine.

Most of the issues I gather are with the 1.5L engine, which explains why I am going for the 2.0T. What should I look out for? Thanks in advance.

It's good that you've done you're research first before venturing into it, at least that would help you to know what to expect.

Anyway, in this present Nigeria where there is no standard regulation, I wouldn't risk buying any modern turbo car. I'll rather go for the non turbo option of it if there is any.

My Boss in the office who is a big Honda fan got the 2020 Accord. He sold it off after the turbo failed twice, and bought the 2017 Accord Touring version and since then he has found peace of mind. Mind you, he said he can't buy a car and park at home to be driven for special occasions only, so the 2020 Accord was his daily drive which I suspect is the reason for the failing turbo.

Those cars were made that way just to give more balance and for better aerodynamics. However, if for some reasons you wish to improve the height, just pad your shocks or get a bigger rim, but just know that whatever modifications you're doing no matter how small, might affect your balance.

If you ask me, I'll say you should leave the car like that. If you mess with balance, you might even revert to factory height because you might not like how the car may turn out.

Please modify your post. This car is an 08/09 Base model. There's nothing 2010 about it.

Hi guys, I just got a tokunbo civic 2011, a few issues I've observed is the left headlights are not working at all, the right headlights only work on high beam, interior light not working, horn is not working. Downstream oxygen sensor is bad. Then the cars vibration is a bit higher than usual. Then in the engine I noticed that the air flow intake hose is missing from the air filter box. The space for the tube is just open. Please who knows any reliable mechanic and electrician that is experienced in Honda civic in Lagos, please i don't want to give dem kazeem to scatter the motor for me. Thank you

These are more of electrical issues you've mentioned. Didn't you carry out a good inspection of the car before ending up with such a car?

Hello people of honda. Please I need people's experience with this car. There are two types of engine I see: The 2l NA engine and the 1.5l turbocharged engine. From reviews I saw online, some prefer the 1.5l for it's more powerful and can save fuel better, others prefer the 2l own because in the long run, it's more durable. These were online reviews from foreigners obviously so I thought to ask Nigerians who know firsthand how this model fairs.

I asked a mechanic about the turbo engine and he dismissed it immediately, that I should avoid any turbo engines because if it gets spoilt, I won't see new one to buy etc. So I thought to ask if this is a common sentiment in Nigeria. If you have experience with the turbo engine, I'd like to know your view. Is it a problematic engine that is difficult for mechanics to work on? Does it get damaged easily?

It's actually not a sentiment if you ask me, modern turbo can very stressful and pricey. It's fails easily and the turbo components makes the car quite fragile too because if you're a heavy footer, it's not advisable to own it, and if you own one, you must caution your driving habits seriously too. The last time I checked, someone got the turbo replacement for a 2019 Honda Accord for 1.6m just this year.

If you own a Turbo boost car, your maintenance culture must be top notch because using the wrong engine oil alone will kill your turbo within a month and using water in place of coolant is also not advisable for such engines.

If I'm to own a 2018 upwards Accord, based on my pattern of driving, I'll quietly go for the 2.0L engine and save myself a lot of headaches.

It had a few issues back then; major one was sudden high fuel consumption, and a delay when accelerating; though it drives fine once it picks up speed following a repair from some mechanic when the sluggish movement started.
I returned to lagos and took it for a quick drive to a mechanic to scan and noticed the 'D' (Drive) light started blinking on my way home. I’ve attached the fault codes below. The AC also stopped working after it overheated while someone else was using it during my travels.
I honestly don’t have the time to sit with a mechanic because of work, so I’m really hoping to hand it over to someone trustworthy who can take care of all the issues.
Can I reach out to Koku to handle this for me and maybe the minor issues?

You can reach out to him. But you're also advised to thread with caution, no matter how trustworthy or highly recommended anybody is. He has been my go to mechanic and my car stays with him for days if the need arises but I still deal with him with high caution.

That light is a notification that something is wrong with your car, and a lot of things might cause this "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" to come up.

The first thing to do is to get your car scanned by a competent mechanic and see the codes it shows, then you can start your fixing based on the issues indicated.

Well you might be correct. But that's not what I saw. When you visit that Oyingbo, there's a place called waterside, you'll see where old engines are being dismantled by scrappers and sold out

The buyer was different from the person who sold the engine to me. The parts were dismantled and sold out on a scale to scrappers. There is a yard close to the waterside that specializes in dismantling of bad engines. I learnt a lot from my visit that day.

They've brought down the gear and worked on it, instead it got worst. Doesn't even change from gear 2 anymore, blinking D light and hard shifting, with all the scanning and changing a lot of things, yet not better.

I've spent almost 300k working on it and nothing to show for it. They are still recommending working in it and telling me the price for toks gearbox is around 850k.

At this point I am seriously considering going for another gearbox but finding faithful and truthful people these days is hard, and price is heart wrenching

I need help with this car, cos it's still very sound but I go through he'll driving it currently with this gear wahala.

Ahhhh... You've spent almost 300k on repairing gearbox when a new gearbox costs just 350k? And now they are quoting 800k to replace it for you?. Sir you really need to change that your mechanic first.

This is what I was talking about, these mechanical parts have a lifespan and when they have lived up those useful years, spending money to fix it is like a waste of time.

Anyway you can call the guy, he's a big time dealer and I'm sure he does interstate delivery of parts too. The logistics might just be a bit high but not gonna be pocket draining and definitely will not cost you up to 500k not to talk about 800k they are quoting for you over there.

I think I got the gear box for 350k and engine was 550K thereabout.

There is nothing like a manageable gear. I'll advise you change both if you have the power. My gear wasn't even slipping, it only revs high when changing to gear 3 only and I bought a replacement for my peace of mind. These engine and gear have a life span, and once they get to that threshold, spending money fixing it might just be a waste of time. My engine too started giving oil burn signs, even though my mechanic assured me that it's fixable, I had to go for a new engine. There are some stress that are just not worth it, if you ask me.

N.B:
Request for the Japanese engine instead of the American engine. Japanese engine have better build. In case you're buying from UCHE BIG HEAD, he will even explain both standards of engine to you and ask you to make your choice and pick the one you want. He was the one who educated me on the various engine types.

This mechanic is calling a ridiculous price for me. I actually want to buy the engine myself and deliver to him to fix. I saw an advert online fora 500k complete engine. Those ladipo Facebook advert and chatted the guy up. But I dey fear ladipo guys. No good review from their dealings.

Do you think it's advisable to still get the engine and deliver for him to fix?

My fear is that he has shown he can't be trusted. And my car is presently parked there with the engine dropped. But again, won't he do a dirty job all because I got the engine myself and try to blame me for it, if it goes south??

So my question is this; does anyone know a trusted Honda engine seller at Oyinbo that will give me confirmed complete engine?

That's quite pricey. 700k is very high for engine replacement.

I bought same engine and gear in Oyingbo two months back, and I didn't spend up to that 700k for both because I traded my old engine and gear for almost 280k. Avoid ladipo at all cost, especially for Honda vehicles.

Let me give you this advice, find a way to get that car to Oyingbo, you will get everything done lesser and neatly. Those extra cost you will incure in logistics will be eliminated. Also, at Oyingbo your engine old engine will be traded in for the new one and you will pay lesser. Mechanics in Oyingbo charge 50k standard price for engine replacement.

I also didn't know any engine seller in Oyingbo but someone on this thread once recommended a guy called "UCHE BIG HEAD 08033655246 08084445246" and this was the same guy I also used based on that recommendation, without any fear. He imports his engine directly and you will see how untouched the engines are. I was impressed with his level of honesty. I ended buy both engine and gear from him and he also helped me sourced some other things I needed at a very cheap rate directly from importers.

If you don't have a mechanic contact in Oyingbo I can share you mine who has been helping me fix my Honda Accord since the first day I bought it and he also did the engine and gear replacement neatly. His name is KOKU 09165639464 07019353345.

Yes it's very possible, just a few modifications needed. I have seen someone who personally insisted the upgrade should be carried out on his Civic after his engine started having issues. Both engines are also the same but with just few differences, just like the k24A and k24B engines.

The car is everything about reliability, once you love you car enough to do proper maintenance and not cut corners. Read about the Honda Earth-dreams technology for more understanding of what power mixed with performance is about in that engine.

If you can get the Touring edition which also comes in V6, that's even a bonus for you.

Please go for it if you really want to, you have nothing to worry.

It's really annoying. We all claim to be "car guys" but we know nothing about cars. The double wishbone is one of the main things I love about the Accord and I'm not happy they removed it in recent models.
People talk about stability and good handling of Honda, but they don't know the suspension they hate so much is to be thanked for it.

If you ask me to choose between the double wishbone and MacPherson suspension, I'll take the double wishbone a million times before I ever consider the MacPherson suspension at all.

People are ignorant of what they have never used or researched about, and the best you can do is to avoid educating them because it's always a waste of time.

I've been driving accord for more than 10yrs and I've never had a ball joint pull. Do your regular maintenance. Change your ball joints once a year or longer if your are using new OEM.
The thing is that most of you do not appreciate the double wishbone suspension on Honda Accord. Just do a small research on the benefits of double wishbone suspension. It is better and even more expensive than McPherson struts used in Toyotas. Honda is not stupid, you know. All it needs is regular maintenance due to our bad roads and ball joints are not expensive. And if he hates spending money to maintain his car, then he shouldn't be buying Honda to begin with.

You even have time to respond to people whose brains still lives in 2002.

Once anybody talks about Honda pulling legs, I just intentionally ignore such a person because he/she lacks knowledge, and there's no amount of explanation that can help him/her out of his ignorance.

Reviewing My Experience With Igemburg.

So my P7P battery got pregnant(I did not notice earlier due to the case and it created a horizontal line across the screen) and I needed to replace it because the battery can go from 80 to 0 percent in under 10 seconds, I honestly lost interest in fixing the phone due to my experience with technicians but Igemburg changed my perception about that.

Until this week, I have never interacted with him here or personally but I always saw his responses to questions and his ads. I reached out, he was sympathetic of my situation gave huge discount for the replacement battery which is not a market quality and a follow-come battery. long story short, I sent him the phone, he offered to pick it up himself at his own expense, he replaced the battery with care which did not escalate the line on the screen and he tore the phone apart perfectly(JerryRigsEverthing destroy the display of the unit he got when he was trying to review the phone when it was released, Igemburg 200 - 0 JRE ) that you won't see scratches or marks.

lastly, the battery backup is insane, i get over 6hrs usage yesterday. so my experience with him is 100/10.

nobody should talk about my gel protection screen guard, dollar dun cost.

When it comes to this Google Pixel deals, there are only three people here which I can recommend any day and time without fear.

1. Igemburg (Very great guy) I've dealt with him twice by sending him phones to fix, which he did neatly and the phones work better till date without issues. I've never met him.

2. Noobody (my AliExpress chairman) bought phone from him and also used his service on AliExpress severally and I've never met him as well.

3. Fantome (Agba Baller) I've bought 5 phones from him and even had to return one at some point which he paid for the delivery fee and replaced the phone for me with a better one. Baba dey deliver any day and time.

I've never met any of these guys but their reputation and honesty proceeds and goes beyond their faces.

They deserve every commendation and shout out.

The steering is okay and works perfect, just the oil leakage that is the problem

Go to Oyingbo, there are loads of guys who specialize in dismantling and fixing of steering rack. None will leave their shop and come to your location for such jobs.

Both cars are good when you do due diligence with maintenance.

The 2019 has 2.0 and 1.5T models. The 1.5T model uses a CVT transmission and also a turbo charger which is quite expensive to replace when it goes bad. Just like you said, since you're not bothered about fuel then I'll suggest the 2.0 version of the 2019 Accord.

i have a Honda 06 DC. Bought Naija used.

I recently changed engine oil from 05-30 fully sytentic oil to mobil 05-30 semi sythentic becuase my technician said the oil shortage was as a result of the previous oil.

But changing oil did not solve the oil shortage wahala.Worse is that the car now emits white smoke in the morning instead of steam. And the oil shortage has worsened as a result of the smoking issues.

What can i do to stop the oil shortage and the smoking issues? I now buy 5 liters of oil every week if i drive the car alot( for every 80 liters to 120 litres of fuel used) or bi-weekly if i didn't drive much( less than 80 liters of fuel used).

And i am presently saving money to buy a new gear becuase the current gear has started singing end of the roaf by boyz to men. It jerks while selecting lower gears or delays before it picks from lower gears.

Once on motion, the gear works fine, until I slow down again. Then the gear wahala starts again.

i actually have an option of buying a Nissan 2015 altima at 3.5m. (auction price).

My question: Can i still fix the Honda engine? Or is it better to buy a new engine and gear?

Do I just sell the Honda as it is and buy the Nissan Altima?

Please advise me as per the cost implications. Cos i still have to do body work on the Honda. But nothing to fix on Nissan except suspension and AC.

My fear is wasting funds on the Honda and still not geting value for the money spent. What do guys think?

So sorry about what you're going through. Buying oil almost every week is financially draining in this economy.

From one Honda user to the other, if I were you I'll save and get myself a new engine and gear then have peace of mind afterwards. It won't come cheap but you'll definitely not want to sell the car after doing so because you'll enjoy every smoothness that the new engine and gear will give. Just budget 1m for everything, direct untouched toks engine is currently sold for 550k while gear is 350k, but you'll old engine will be bought for 150k while your old gear will be bought for 80k so that leaves you with 650k to pay for both engine and gear then you can spend some amount in buying original engine and gear oil, amongst other few things that might need attention on your car. I've done same just last month and I never regretted it. Just ensure you buy direct toks Japanese engine from a trusted seller, not those rubbish being sold at ladipo market. (If you need help with recommendation I can do that).

As for the Nissan Altima, if you finally decide to go for it, just ensure you do a thorough research about the year of that vehicle to ensure there is no known factory issue that comes with it. I'm not a fan of Nissan so I don't have much to say than my only experience with a G35 that I was given, but I had to return the vehicle because I couldn't keep up with the fuel guzzling engine, but the engine power is slightly better than Honda. Also, Nissan has a terrible CVT gear technology which has been a headache for its users no matter your maintenance culture, so you need to watch out and be sure the Altima you plan to get doesn't use a CVT gear.

I'll leave the floor to other men with experience to give their input.

Just buy a compression tester and do engine compression test. Stop confusing yourself.

Anyway if you read through my posts, you'll understand that I'm not a technician and this was just a trick that a local mechanic showed me long ago. I never said it was reliable and never advised anybody to base their findings on the outcome of this "simple trick".

We learn everyday and I've always been a vehicle scan advocate to ensure proper detection and fixing of issue.

2 months ago. I was driving then I had to reverse. After reversing, I say make I go forward, omo, car no move. Only Rev.. han han, wetin happen?? after getting lost for a few seconds, I put the gear for D2, car moved and I put in (D) and all works fine.

So since then, I've been using my car as follow. I start, I put in D2 or D1 to move a little and subsequently on Drive... If I start car and put in Drive directly, it will not move forward.

Reverse work well, no issue..

Current issue... Last week... I reversed out of my compound. Now both D2, D1 or drive will not move car forward. Basically, car can only reverse currently. Not moving forward... I don park am since...

No other issue... oh prior to all these drive issue, I changed brain box about 3 months ago and subsequently had the (D) blinks on the dashboard even while driving

Nb.i comb YouTube everyday for tips or something, most of the time I get gear switch sensor whatever whatever 🤷.
I just dey pray an hope no be big issue... 5 kobo no dey my hand like this.

So sorry about this dilemma. I experienced same issue too on my EOD two months ago, just that my D, D1-3 gear and reverse works fine but car keeps revving when the gear switches between 2-3 while on motion. I changed the two gear switches and it reduced the issue a bit but it still resurfaced. I was directed to someone in Oyingbo to help me fix it and I was billed 120k to repair the gear after buying gear solenoid switches for almost 60k. Spending 180k fixing a gear is no brainer for me.

I just vex go buy new gear to save myself stress and headaches. The new gear cost me 350k and the old one was bought for 80k, so I ended up paying just 270k for the gear.

If you can afford a new gear please just go for it and save yourself from gear wahala. But if you can't, you can find a reliable gear technician to help you fix yours but it doesn't come cheap sha. If you're in Lagos, just go to Oyingbo and get yourself sorted out there.

Hmmm... This can be caused by a lot of things. Get the vehicle scanned to be sure what's wrong. And if there is no code, then your throttle body, AC compressor, AC system or other major components can be the culprit. But ensure you scan first.
