kelvinmnet: The truth is that your rings are worn. Wash your tail pipe clean and drive for few days then check, you will see the black smoke there to prove that its burning oil.
Options are to ring the engine or buy another engine. Complete engine is around 500k Dalitigator This is the best advice for you. The truth is that your engine is at the final stage of its life span. Just save yourself the stress and headaches by getting a new engine. I understand a replacement engine might be quite pricey but it's just the best option. Ringing is just to extend the life span by a few months or thereabout and you'll end up going back to getting a new engine. |

Damlesky: Hi everyone, I need to get a catalyst converter for 2007 accord. I recently bought my car without one, and I've been told to get one to improve the fuel efficiency. The problem is my mechanic said a new one "China" will cost me 120k while tokunbo will cost over 400k, which I'm struggling to believe is true. "How much I buy the car that the catalyst will be 400k?" Anyway, I need to know if he's trying to reap me off and where I can get one myself if he is indeed trying to. If you're in Lagos, locate Willoughby Street in Oyingbo (that's the HQ for Honda parts in Lagos) and get your catalyst yourself. I'm very certain it's not up to that price quoted. I got a china one 2months ago for 04 Accord and it cost less than half of the price quoted for you. I hope this helps. |

I worked on my front legs and opted for outright replacement of defective parts. It cost me 130k in total for same thing I once did two years ago for just 52k. Omo.... Water full my eyes that day. |

Bola4boy: you sef talk say na 2:98.
That means the probability of getting a good naija used car is like searching for needle inside the ocean. Many car owners are suffering these days. In the space of 2 weeks, I spent close to 80k on repairs and maintenance. Excluding fuel o. Omo.
Meanwhile, are you going for naija used car when wanna upgrade? Lol... Car maintenance recently is a nightmare due to the current exchange rate. If you no like your car, price of things can make one cut corners. As for your last question about my upgrade, na wetin my money reach I go buy abeg. The most important thing is to do due diligence. Bola4boy: But getting the grade A tokunbo cost huge money now. I pity anyone going for naija used vehicles at these period. No one will sell his car if it's not given him issues. I beg to differ.. There are still people out there who still sell their Naija used cars in very perfect working condition, I've seen a couple of them. But the ratio compared to terrible car sellers are like 2% to 98%. I plan on selling my car next year to upgrade and I already have two people from my office that are on standby to buy it just because they know my maintenance culture and how I don't compromise with fixing my vehicle. Just carry out due diligence, know the vehicle history if you can, ensure you check, re-scan, over check, analyze and finally check again before you part with your money for any Naija used vehicles 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 |

Try scan with another OBD scanner and see if it brings out the same VIN. |

honsule: Guys, I have finally joined the Honda club. I purchased my first Honda civic 2007 car last week. But I have an observation. The VIN number, even on the custom papers displays that the car is hybrid. (made in Japan). imported to Naija- Tincan Island. But I used my small obd tool scanner today, to scan the car and I discovered that the VIN number is different from what is in the papers. when i checked the VIN online, it displays honda civic 2009. Why the discrepancy? Also I got one error code that displays thrice. Fuel economy not impressive to me. But let me fix the error code and observe the mpg This your VIN case is somehow.. Firstly, check the vehicle badge at the driver side door or the based of the driver side windshield, check the VIN that you have there if it corresponds with what you have on your car papers. Let's take it up from there first. Vehicle licenses registration these days are something else, the way people cut corners and put unsuspecting car owners into trouble is very alarming. As for the code you have in the scanner, kindly check your engine coolant temperature sensor to ascertain its still in good working condition. |

Damlesky: Hi everyone, I'm about to get my first car, a 2007 accord. The one I'm trying to get, the mechanic who was accessing the car for me said the car is very OK but the radiator has been changed and the catalyst has also been removed but I should go on to buy the vehicle. So I want to ask before I make peyment if it's a wise decision.
PS - The mechanic went with a scanner. If you trust the mechanic enough, kindly go ahead with his advice. Those things listed are easily replaceable if you deem it fit. Best of luck |

dalitigator: Would you advise a toks radiator or brand new.Walahi! I am now seen reasons to avoid Naija used cars when buying my next car. These cars are not well maintained. Maybe its because there are no proper serive certers in Nigeria and the very few are expensive. Abeg anything radiator issues, I always advise a new one. Most times, the integrity of the used radiator might have been compromised without your knowledge. Any small burst or unnoticed leaks could lead to serious gasket issue. Go for the new one if you can, but if you decide to go for the toks, kindly ensure you check, check, check well and check again before fixing it. You can also carry out a compression test on it to ensure there are no leaks. |

I have taken the car to a technician and he serviced the injectors and changed spark plugs. Still the same issue. What could be the problem? Boss this issue is a serious issue if not taken seriously now. I'll advice you stop driving that car around for now until you get the issue fixed. Please scan the car and post the codes here so that the elders in this forum can help and guide you right. I had once had a similar issue after buying fuel from one yeye filling station. Good thing was that I had my scanner always in my glovebox. I scanned and it showed my knock sensor, EGR and MAF got damaged together. I ended up changing every damaged component and car came back alive. |

ehmmy11: Good day all
I’m very much interested in getting accord eod or dc I4 engine.
My biggest concern with this car is the lower or upper arm failure, in country like ours, one won’t want to be be stranded at certain times or places
Please how best to maintain these parts and not experience this failure as I think Honda accord is very superior to its rival
Don’t have money for the 2013 upward model 😅 for now Very great car. I currently use EOD and since my purchase, I have never had any leg pull neither have I been stranded. Since I know that the double wishbone that the Honda leg uses is not as reliable as the MacPherson found in other vehicles, I give more attention to it by always checking it's condition every month and go for a replacement between 6-8months depending on my vehicle usage and road condition. All the replaced ones are in my toolbox and a very much in good condition as well but I still change them just to ensure I do due diligence. Also, if your shock, lower/upper arm bushing, engine and gear mount isn't in good condition, it might also impact negatively on your ball joint. The secret to all it for me is to have a very good maintenance culture and attention to details. If you wish to cut corners or you lack maintenance culture, Honda vehicles will deal with you terribly. I hope this helps. |

DarkRider: Hello, I just got my first car. A honda accord 2005 with 4cyl engine.
I noticed my temperature guage going into the red and pulled over, turns out both fans weren't running at all.
Checked all the fuses and noticed the AC fuse in the under dash fusebox was burnt. Fixed it and both fans came back to life.
After doing all my checks, turns out a kazeem had connected both the AC condenser fan and engine cooler fan to the AC blower relay.
I'm looking to return it back to factory spec, but not sure how to proceed with it. The relays for both fans are okay, and the fan fuses are also okay. Glad you were very observant of your temperature gauge. I don't know how tech savvy you are with vehicle components, but I'll advise you engage a professional with it if this is your first time, since you'll be installing a thermostat. One wrong move could cost dearly. Maybe the elders in the house could guide you through. |

Bola4boy: Omo, the radiator for my honda accord 2005 is 65k. I no get that money. Fortunately, when I removed the radiator, they were able to get a space to fix fan switch as we couldn't get ect sensor 2.
The fan switch did its own work by making fan come up when hot and the car acceleration improved. No rpm fluctuations. And I used the opportunity to work my radiator cos muds are stuck there. So there's progress
But I'll only be contented if I get it's own ect sensor. Glad you're making progress. However, just like you've said, kindly get the radiator once you have the financial strength for it. Radiator related issues are scary and the damage to car is always a nightmare. I always run away from anything that involves fixing or bypassing radiator for any reason, I'll rather park the car till further notice. I learnt the hard way. |

Macmilla: I've explained this here on nairaland before. Fill up your tank to the brim and reset your trip counter. Drive the car till your fuel is about to finish and not how many miles you have driven. Fill it up again and note how many litres it took to fill up to the brim the second. This will give you how many MILES you drove with that amount of fuel. Dividing the miles with the litres of fuel gives you how many miles you drove with each litre. Most trip counters are in miles and not kilometers. So be sure what you have. If yours is in kilometers, you will have how many kilometers you drove per liter. If this calculation is too much for you, just drop the numbers and we will do the calculation for you. Thanks a lot I'll also try this out and see what I can come up with. |

ThePundit14: Thanks for this thread. For me I use the EOD and sometimes ago when I fuel my car, I get the PO420 "Catalytic Converter below threshold bank 2" I have no catalyst. So does it mean I have to get the Chinese one or change oxygen sensor. My fuel economy not too good. Though no CEL anymore. There was a time I was having this code showing up too on my EOD after I bought a new 02 sensor. All I did was to unplug and plug back the 02 switch and the code disappeared, but I had a Chinese catalyst installed. Your own case is quite dicey because you do not have a catalyst. And there's no way that code will come up and it won't bring out CEL. Anyway I'll advice you rescan your car, and if the 02 sensor shows up, you need to get it replaced. But if all the code you have is just about the catalyst, then I'll suggest you get the Chinese one installed in your car, it does the job and I've been using mine for 2yrs plus. Two months ago when I asked for the price it was sold for 45k, I don't know what it goes for now. I hope this helps |

Divide the kilometers covered by 20 liters you bought . So from there, you know the consumption per liter I think you simplified it with this explanation of yours. I'll try it out and see what I get.
