eksbabe:Lol@serious disease It's nothing serious just that the cord didn't fall of completely Its not really known y it happens to some babies but its quite common Another option is silver nitrate but it has to be applied by a doc. I was more sceptical than u oh but very desperate lo was getting to two months and was on my third bottle of spirit. I just prayed n boughta fresh sachet of salt applied that morning briefly then wiped it off it didnt even sting as I tot repeated it in d evening by night it had dried up and by d following morning d navel had closed up completely. |
eksbabe:Had this same issue with my ds Infact we were on our third bottle of spirit when I got fed up. Its not Ur fault Its called umbilical cord granuloma. U can Google it. Just apply clean table salt a pinch on it for a few minutes after his bath then wipe off repeat in d evening before d end of the second day it shld be off. |

Let me also add this since prevention is better than cure. I started bathing once a day depending on d weather. Then when bathing him I close d bathroom window n door then steam up the bathroom before I remove his clothes after bathing him I dress him up inside d bathroom diaper oiling d body everything before we come out infact we both come out sweating ![]() |
Gr8fulheart Pls don't mind our naija docs.u r a good mother doing a great job. The weather is something else this days. I can't remember d last time I opened a window in my room talk more of a fan when dh complains I tell him heat rash is better than cold n cattarh. There's this home remedy I used for ds. Its called onion poultice. Cut up a bulb of onion and put in a pan add a little water and let it steam. Take d hot onion pieces and put in a small towel fold it up and check d temp of the towel. It should be hot but not scalding. Put hot towel on chest n back. As Ur massaging u shld hear a change in his breathing. U can keep reheating d towel for a day then u change I discovered it on Google when ds took his first trip outside PH. The next morning my four month old was breathing heavy I felt like a failure cos he had never had a cold before. I found this home remedy and the congestion cleared quickly. |

All those chanting # free Evans are the problem of the world today. A generation that calls evil good. I believe in justice. Its only fair that Evans pay for his crime to serve as a deterrent to others |
ftmum:Just seeing this Pls its normal for babies breathing to sound like their nose is stuffed up esp when they're feeding. Giddyperson also mentioned it on d newborn thread. |
Chomsky1967:Yeah its actually a 5. This drinks usually have a shelf life of 6 mths. That's y d expiry date is 11/17. You will make a good detective |
Damsel21:Mama I beg u pls leave house chores. Forget abt every other thing and pamper urself. Don't worry after u deliver the chores will still be there for u. If possible only get up when u need to bath n use d rest room. God is with u. It will end in praise. |
lululuv:Don't know abt the oil The soap is 1800 at whole sale shops but retailers sell 2000 |
Benignasweety:Pls don't be scared even though the points raised by the mamas r valid. The mid wife cld be right or wrong we don't know For Ur peace of mind pls ask d mid wife y she stopped labor if Ur not comfortable with her answer pls go to the hospital Jesus gat u babe. On second tot I tink its wise u get a second opinion |
Wow Thank God! Agofure drivers are usually very careful. I wonder what went wrong |
Told dh immediately and we adhered to d advise. My period then normalised and I took in early June. I don't know if this would help. Just felt I shld share. I hope it does. Baby dust to u all |
FruitfulRay:Good day mama.sorry to intrude just have an info that might be useful. I experienced wat u just described sometime last year I got married in March and was on my period same day I was hopeful that I'll take in immediately only for AF to show up almost a week early. I was confused cos my period had always been predictable. An elderly woman who had ttcd for four years during her own time just came around and started gisting me abt her experience in fact God used her. She said wat ended TTC for her was an advice she also got from a white missionary lady in kogi state. Some women seem to have delicate bodies and if they have vigorous sex after ovulation they would bleed cos implantation would have taken place but not yet established. All she said she did was after ovulation she would just stay off that's like d 2ww we do now and also avoid any stress. Cos for those four years she ttcd her period would always come like a week earlier at certain times the lady explained to her that that AF she was seeing at those times were babies that failed to implant. I told dh immediately and we adhered to |
zaynie:Hilarious! Funny mama! Ilan will just scream the house down. Portion control... Lol |
fruitfulhome:Its well mama! They mean well even though its annoying. Abt d navel how does it look now? My ds navel still looked raw after it fell off. By the time he clocked 6wks I was tired of applying spirit. My mum said I shld use mentolatum to close it up but didn't have d heart to do it. Google search actually helped me out cos i read that its common for navel not to fall completely. I applied salt to d navel for abt 10mins after his bath in d morning did it again in d evening by d next day the navel was completely sealed up and looked normal. If his navel is closed then pls don't apply anything after d cord falls off just clean during his bath time. If u can still see a bit of flesh then do d salt thing. Wasn't painful at all and worked fast. Hth |
[quote author=Sansa143 post=56568913my question is am I wrong by wearing light cloths for him cos people keepin telling me infants are not like us,i shld cover him weda he sweats or not!Am confused, pls help me out?[/quote]My son is 10 weeks old and can sweat for Africa.he stopped wearing cap and socks at 3weeks. And doesn't wear sleep suit to bed If he gets hot at nyt his scream can wake up d deepest sleeper for the past three days he's been on only diapers in d afternoon and he still had heat rash thank God for sebamed soap Pls wear light clothing but monitor closely. Everyday I look for the slightest sign of a cold but so far so good. Global warming is real a beg Times have really changed Lest I forget u can also use warm/tepid water to bath him in d afternoon. |
Giddyperson:Lol@like a pig! Also took me a while to get used to d sound kept checking to b sure he was alright. My sister still teases me abt it. Then there's this thing their eyes do when they're asleep like rolling then u see only d white d pupils sort of roll up I observed it d day he was circumcized I was sure d nurse had caused my son to bleed to death I screamed til I was told its normal. Felt stupid afterwards.Google confirmed that its normal he still does d eye thing just not as often |
Giddyperson:Fomular fed babies should poo ideally everyday.breastfed can go as long as three days without pooing. |
kemifemi:I was given diazepam during my pregnancy cos of bp ish too but mainly to put me to sleep.the main drug I was given for the bp was aldomet. At 38 weeks my bp was 140/90 was induced the following day. During labour my bp kept fluctuating it got to 170/90 at a point. Pls cooperate with ur gyna. It will end in praise. |
@giddyperson and other mamas asking abt number of pads to take to the hospital. Note that the pad is also used with olive oil for baby's first cleanup. And its also used to clean up poop blood and water from the mum during delivery. My hospital asked for 6. By the time I was done with delivery and baby was cleaned up I had two packs left which I used for blood flow still had to buy 3more at home. This was at a govt hospital anyway. Its possible private hospitals ptovide the ones for cleanup. HTH |
