koladebrainiac: Igbo get problems. anything they are not involved with they tag its marginalization. They dominate Nollywood o, nobody complains anytime they are sharing their awards. they are all in National Football team, nobody shout marginalization. in fact, we are happy for them. now Yoruba are doing great in music they are shouting marginalization. no wonder Hausas decided to sack u guys from the north.
Yoruba has been the founding father of Nigeria music. we have the likes of Fela and Femi Kuti and many iconic yoruba artist who has helped lots of their fellow men. and this one is saying trash. Delusion must be the trait of your family line. |

No one complained when national team is all igbo.. Igni must complain when things doesn't favor them.
Igbo must have everything.
Sucks to be igbo. Are you high? Have igbos dominated the BBN yearly? Is the ethnic dominance consistent? And who even told you that your people didn't complain. You must have been blind not to see your fellow afonja empty heads complaining like idiots. Even the number of housemates this year had far more yorubas who all fell along the way. Besides, how can you compare BBN to a music Award? It sucks to be Yoruba. It sucks to be you. |

What is wrong with Igbo people and bigotry ?
Sem use am do these people? It is not a one -off something. It is a consistent show of bigotry so people are right to complain. if the organisers explain that the headies award is an egbe omo -oduduwa wankfestt, then it would be stupid of me to complain. You can't call it a Nigerian musical award and you expect me not to complain when ngbatii -ngbatii nonetities are honoured instead of better content. Phyno outshined the vulgar reminisce this year in terms of high quality hits. Guess who won the best rap? And it is not just a one -off aberration . The controversy is yearly. |

I didn't even know that phyno and teckno ridiculed the useless bigoted award. That is good to know. The next people to abstain should be runtown and partoranking. If Runtown with his mad over you hit track could not win a single headies when shitts like mayorkun and co were getting one, then he should be sensible enough to abstain. |

Trump and XI have limits to their power. Their countries are more powerful than Russia but their own individual powers as President is limited. Bishopsgate: I totally disagree with you.
This action by Nafdac has nothing to do with patriotism or the desire for a better Nigeria.
It's just a punitive knee jerk reaction to an embarrassing documentary which exposed their incompetence at carrying out the job that we, the citizens of this country had been paying them to do.
The drug in question was not classified as a drug which could not be sold off the shelf neither was it designated as a controlled substance, not by Nigerian Law or by Nafdac themselves. The companies in question were thus not required to control it's sale modalities. Meanwhile I would like to remind you that the companies illegally shut by nafdac are not retailers as they do not sell directly to consumers so how are they party to wrong consumption or abuse by consumers?
The only company that could have an over stretched sense of culpability is emzor and I stress it that to accord culpability to emzor due to the actions of one staff is a gross over stretch of conjecture!
These companies are manufacturers and not pharmacies.
NAFDAC failed in its responsibility and is only Trying to save face. Are they saying they were not aware of the codeine epidemic in the north for over 10 years? Is it not their responsibility to "control" drug consumption, production and administration to protect the consumers. Where was Nafdac all this while?
Instead of looking into their modus operandi to fine tune it to prevent easy access to the drugs through the retail end of the spectrum they are here heaping and throwing blames around.
If these companies are culpable then NAFDAC is just as culpable! Finally someone with brain cells. |

I think supporting the current government in power does a lot to people's mental abilities.. It is just sad. And many people would believe he is objective. This govt just keep dragging Nigeria backwards. This is not a fake drug company. This is emzor we are talking about here. Years and years of consistent drug manufacturing at the highest standards available in Nigeria. I am not in support of illegal practices in that company. But there are ways a smart govt goes about it. They can enforce a change of leadership just like Amcon does after arresting the culprits if found culpable. Shut down the codeine production wing too. But shutting the whole company for God knows how long is just wrong. |

Loss of revenues is nothing compared to the loss of sanity and health by those who have been subjected to the pharmacies unwitting operations.
They can be shutdown if they have transgressed their agreement with NAFDAC.
The world abhors a vacuum. Should they be shutdown another pharmacy would rise up. Hopefully it would be more ethical in its conduct. Is this guy not deluded? So codeine the world's best cough therapy is now the cause of lose of sanity and health? So if people get addicted to penicillin, will you banned the companies producing them for legitimate syphilis patients? People are addicted to gum Will you close down gum production companies? Nature abhors a vacuum in this Nigeria? You think the pharmaceutical industry is baba ijebu? Please tell me those that have replaced the defunct textile industries of the 70s and 80s. adanny01: A bottle of codeine was as cheap as N200 until it became an abused drug. Price went up to between N900-1500.
Labourers, motor park touts and in general poor people cannot afford the high price. Its is the rich kids who take the stuff. Let me point this out, one bottle of codeine will not satisfy those guys. They take like 5-10bottles a day. So, even before the ban, codeine was not cheap then imagine the cost of drinking 5 bottles a day. We are looking at N5000 average per day. Who can afford that?
In summary, banning codeine will not stop production or importation. It is just giving food to smugglers. Also the price of codeine will go even higher so only the rich can afford it.
The rich will not escape this menace until Islam allows its faithfuls to drink alcohol. This is where the real problem lies. I wonder why they are not going after the foreign companies. Those ones will tell them that codeine is a legitimate drug. And that virtually any substance can be abused. It doesn't mean we should stop producing them for those who truly need it as long as they are in registered hands. Morphine is still being used as a pain reliever in hospitals. |

A hefty fine must be imposed.
The pharmacies must open at some point.
Your take on this subject shows you are not even interested in the issue. For you it is more about Buhari or otherwise. My take on the subject is that you are not a credible commentator. Your views are always skewed on the side of the FG because of the buhari/osibanjo factor. The company will reopen at some point. So what is the time frame? In the mean time revenues are being lost, legitimate products for other sick people are being restricted. If emzor goes under due to lose of revenues, can buhari create an alternative even if he spends 20 years in power? |

Lucid1: So nothing should be done? What's your point? If found culpable of selling to unauthorised hands, then arrest the managing director. You do not shut down your biggest pharmaceutical company for any reason, unless in a case of deliberate public harm. In most countries, these are essential infrastructures, that are a matter of national interest. Codeine is still used by many as a cough syrup, so it is a legitimate drug. It is not a public Hazard . The only problem is when it is sold to unauthorised personnel. And if that is the case, the managing director and the sales administrator should take the heat. |

If people get high on penicillin for example, are you going to sanctions companies producing the product.

I doff my hat for you with this submission 1. I think and suggest that regulatory authorities needs to come down hard when ethics and value for human lifes is sacrificed for ungodly profits. 2. Just like you suggest here, heavy fine is not enough. The Managing Director must be sacked and jailed. The company must be wound down. These are necessary steps to make sure other companies adhere to the ethics of the profession and make value for human lives a primary and uncompromising objective Emzor must be wound down? Are you listening to yourself? So who will absorb the workforce thrown into the labour market? Who will replace Emzor in Nigeria's pharmaceutical industry? In terms of research, products, and local manufacturing. And most importantly, Will your useless govt go after the much bigger British pharmaceutical companies importing codeine into the country.
