Good morning Mama in d house, pls u ppl should come to my aid, my wife is about a month pregnant, we both ate cucumber yesterday but this morning when she woke up she saw little blood in her pant.
I became so scared and went to check online to know if a pregnant woman can take cucumbers the answer was no.
Pls what do we do now?
Hi Good Morning,
Please calm down . I don't think it is the cucumber. I take a lot of mixed vegetables with cucumber inclusive and I have never bled or spotted for once. Just let her go see the doc and she will be fine.

Pls ooo mamas, who else is experiencing this constant headache? Paracetamol has become a daily drug. No HBP, treated malaria and typhoid 3weeks ago but this one-sided headache seem not to leave me. I'm 32weeks gone. Any remedy pls?
Hi, hope you are fine. Please stay away from constant consumption of paracetamol as it can have effect on your liver. Also remember that whatever you consume is passed on to your baby.

Well, headache can be part of the pregnancy package but if it is not bearable for you, discuss with your doctor who will also carry out other checks like Blood pressure to check if all is well. There are some reasons why you might be having the headaches

1. Not eating at the right time. Ie your body is low on glucose.

2 Not sleeping well

3. Excessive stress or strain . Is your daily activity stressful?

4. Not taking enough Water

Solutions:

1. Even if you don't feel like eating, eat in bits, get pap, custard, add a bit of lemon . Go for chips, just munch something

2. Have your bath before bed to have a relaxing sleep. Get some soft pillows. If you are in lagos, go to Miniso at shop rite. They stock a lot of soft pillows that you can use to balance your tommy when you sleep plus they are cute

3. Instead of paracetamol, you can plait adimole so that you can pour water on your head as many times as you want.

4. Listen to your body. When you feel tired, just leave what you are doing and take a rest.

5. Take water as many times as possible as dehydration also triggers headaches.

Most importantly, check with your doctor.

See ya.

HealthRe: Pregnancy Are You Pregnant Or Going Through A High Risk Pregnancy,,lets Talk by CuddleJoy(f):
Hi,

Taking your daily drugs is very important for both you and your baby. I don't like drugs too as it nauseates me but I have found a smart way of enduring pregnancy drugs
1 I don't take the routine drugs given to me by the hospital, I don't even collect them. ( if you are on hmo, their budgets are always very low so they pay for the cheapest drugs and those cheap drugs has terrible odour that I can't stand.

2. I use obron 6 . Just one capsule.

3. There was a time I was using pregnacare. But from research, it doesn't contain calcium and the ones that have calcium has it in small quantity. ( oyinbos consume lots of milk which is a good source of calcium but our own diet is deficient of calcium sort of.

4. I was told by 2 people(A pharmacist and my Hospital matron) that obron 6 is specially formulated to cater for the deficiencies in the Nigerian or African diet.

5. I also bought calcitone( calcium tablet and was told to use 1 in the morning and one in the evening.

6. NOTE: not having enough calcium when pregnant could negatively impact a woman when she is older, when pregnant, every calcium the baby needs is taken from your body. So if you don't want to have leg or joint problems in your older age, don't play with your calcium especially in your 3rd Trimester

1stymom:
As I be FTM.... Advice plenty.... I don tire sef... I don't know what to do again... I force myself most times to take the drugs..cos on a normal day without pregnancy I am not a fan of drugs except if the thing don hook me. I'll keep managing... May God see us through...

I'll try to seek counsel when next I go for my appointment.... Thanks Ma.

We saw different people selling it( different quality), but we bought it from one old baba that repairs and sells flask on the street where baby things are sold at idumota.

The name is masterchef

Hope this helps.

Mummies I have a few questions, thanks in addy for the answers...
1. Is it compulsory to buy a big water flask? I'm asking because I have 2 small ones (1ltr & 820ml) and the hotness lasts for more than 24hrs either water or pap. I also heard some general hospitals have it in their list but mine doesn't so I don't know how important buying a bigger one would be.

2. Is it compulsory to buy Eucalyptus Oil (SilverBird) and how different is its use from Mentholatum?

3. What does hospitals use cotton wool for? Asking because I bought a small one (150) angry as my hospital didn't specify size) and I watched videos of people packing their delivery bags packing gigantic cotton wool of 2000 naira or more

4. What kind of outfit can be used as baby's first outfit after birth cos my hospital wrote Assorted Baby wear (I still don't get that kind of assorted like mixture of liver, intestines and roundabout grin)

5. How heavy or light should one pack to the hospital as I've watched different videos of people packing their delivery bags and carrying the biggest box size to the hospital (like it's a wedding sumtin).. Please share experiences of the kinds of bags you used to take your things to the hospital especially for people who don't have cars like myself or whose labour might not occur in the night before one will look like someone who wants to go and live in the hospital.

6. When getting items on the hospital list like comfit, spirit etc, do I still need to get extra for home use or I will comeback home with whatever is left of the number the hospital asked me to bring?

7. Any reviews on Lebrace Diapers? How good and comfy is it?

Help a FTM cool
Hi Omakraid,

As a mum who have had babies is the past years, this is my advice to you. Let's get down to it

1. I have always wondered why people ask you for big flask.

a Well.let me tell you based on what I noticed. When you have a big flask , you only boil water once. Ie, in the morning, thereby saving your gas usage. Our mothers usually bath babies twice ( ie in the morning and in the night)

b. You will also be needing hot water grin the one you will be told to put small savlon and will be told to sit on it dailyfor your bumbum to heal up.( welcome to the club)

c. Also , some hospitals only do provide you with hot water only in the morning hence , the need to store for additional use.

I have also gotten another big flask despite the fact that I have small ones at home.

2.Eucalyptus oil is very important to have as a parent . We do have it in our house at all times. When your children have stuffy nose , you pour some drops in very hot water and cover up with towels and you inhale the steam .some doctors often recommend it for some months babies too when they can't breathe well because of stuffed nose.

Some hospitals too do advice you to pour some baby oil in a small bottle and put some drops of eucalyptus oil in it so that you can rub the soft part of your baby's head so that cold can't get to the head through the soft part.

Eucalyptus oil also prevent insects bite. There are times we add a bit in a oil at night to rub on those toddlers that insist they want to go out and play in the evening where mosquitoes are prevalent.

Note: when you want to buy eucalyptus oil NEVER buy it where you buy your baby's things ( a lot of them sell the fake ones) go to a very good pharmacy not roadside drugstore.

A bottle will last you for a long time.

3. I do buy both small and big cotton wool.
I take both to the hospital. When they first ask for it, you give them the small one. When they need extra, they will take out of the big one. The big one is massive. I still have the remaining of the one I used in 2013 at home .

Cotton wools are used together with olive oil to clean up babies when they are first born.

The remaining one from the big one, you will be using it on daily basis to clean or swab the mouth of you baby since they don't brush until later in the months ahead.

4.Assorted means colourful. Those ones you buy that comes in sets, no need for paparazzi . This is to lift your spirit when you see your beautiful baby

5. Buy a box what will just be enough to take some things that you need. If you need more, your husband will go home to bring any other thing .After all, he is baba baby.

Hope my explanation is helpful

See ya.

Gudevn mummies, I'm 32weeks and baby weights 2kg already and in a cephalic and posterior position....Doctor said the baby is breeched, I'm worried cos if she doesn't turn, it CS wch we are not buoyant for now...I'm kinda worried o...FTM
Hey , Common on, you don't need to stress yourself as Worrying drains you of your strength . Right now, you need all the encouragement you need. Be encouraged. Your baby still have time to do gymnastics to go head down. These are some of the things you can do.

1. Try to sleep on your left side
2. Try to exercise and take some walk
3.Go on youtube and search for ( exercises to turn a breech baby) they are simple exercises.
4. Commit it to God in prayer.

Note: Don't overdo it, rest and have faith.

If after you have done all this and the situation remains the same, then leave all to the hand of God. The great Provider.

See ya cheesy

1.Yes I did. It was addressed to the PCO Alausa Passport office, Ikeja Lagos. The business centre around the office can help you do it. It must be typed. And the child needs consent letter from the mom and dad.

2. Yes I did. But I suggest that as early as 7am/8am you're there. This is because the documents have to be verified at different desks, before it will finally be approved for capturing.
Thank you very much

I think Alausa Passport is very fast in issuing passports. My child captured last week Monday and as at yesterday it's been produced/issued. 32/5 fresh passport, DIY.
1.Please did you have to write a letter of consent as a parent ( if you did , how was it addressed?

2. Did you wait till the day of capture to submit physical documents

Thanks
