ileobatojo: I'm sorry but I don't see how you can attempt to take a moral high ground after your OP. you feel Igbo girls have lost their way solely based on the fact that they marry Yoruba guys and in the next breath try to decry tribalism? I don't think they go together.

You say you are not Igbo, then why the focus on Igbo girls and Yoruba guys? What about multiple other intertribal marriages?

Nothing wrong with intertribal marriages as long as they have a solid foundation and a united front in confronting challenges they may face. About the concern with children not speaking the language, it can be done even when both parents don't speak the same language. Effort just has to be put into it. I know a youn child of a Norwegian mother and Spanish dad who understands, speaks both languages as well as English.
