Topiipii:Yea, I do o. Thank you. ![]() |
Battywonder:Ok. |
ipledge01:I Sent them to your email - the main book and the verbal workout. Helenmi, done too. |
ipledge01:Ok. will send. |
Battywonder:Lol. I'm doing my best with the study thingy. Good to meet you. #TeamEconomist! You writing soon? |
helenmi:Yea, I do. Would send 'em. This is your email right? lawaldare@gmail.com |
Battywonder:Thank you so much. I've researched a bit about both schools and I like them, especially that University of Albany. Thanks again. |
drhopeful:Good to know ![]() I feel the level of vocab of the TC and SE questions (on Manhattan) is just too high for beginners. Princeton Review is just like verbal made easy to me. ![]() Would try to get back at Manhattan when I'm stronger. |
helenmi:Verbal is a serious something for most of us o ![]() However, it is not insurmountable. In addition to the Official Guide, I strongly recommend Priceton Review (either the Verbal section of the main book or the Verbal workout booklet, or both). Going through the book has increased my confidence as well as performance on verbal section; the book teaches you to indentify and cross out wrong answers first before identifying the right one - a strategy which works out well for me. If you've got limited time, go through the verbal section of the main book only, it's less verbose. P.S: Biko don't read Manhattan for TC and SE questions - you might give up on verbal like I almost did. Manhattan is best for RC questions and Quant only (my opinion). |
Topiipii:Topiipii, Happyday and others that provide answers, thank you guys so much. God bless you guys for us. ![]() Emmmm.... Another help again pls ![]() I intend to run a postgraduate study in Economics and to be honest, I have just one school in mind, Binghamton University (a safenet school). I need a cursory suggestion of schools from you guys pls. |
Hello Guys, Please is it out of place to send one's GRE scores to selected schools 'a year' prior to one's application? Or you should send your scores only when you're ready to formally apply. For instance, if my scores are sent early 2017 but I intend applying In 2018, it shouldn't be a problem right? |
Topiipii, I just read another reason why you're rewriting. All the best bro! |
Topiipii:Great scores bro! But why rewriting pls? Did you apply to any school and you weren't given TA because of your AWA score or something? I'm panicking already cos before now I've regarded the AWA section as not-so-important but surprisingly most people seem to be rewriting cos of the AWA section. Thanks for your anticipated response. |
Thank you too. YouTube is Bae! This approach is much more better. ![]() No estimation. tblvck: |
tblvck:I'm sure in your sketch, you drew the minute hand exactly at 10 and the hour hand exactly at 1 (thereby inferring that the two hands are exactly 15 minutes apart) and thus solved 15/60 = x/360 which gives x = 90 (where x is the angle in question). However, on an actual clock, at 1:50, the minute hand would be exactly at 10 but the hour hand would be closer to 2 than 1 (meaning that they are about 19+ minutes apart. Using 19, should be solved as 19/60 = x/360 which gives x = 114. My best guess. |
4th Edition of which of the books pls? iCool: |
iCool:You welcome. No hiding no more ![]() |
iCool:Lol. You get mind o. Most training centers are actually legit; they wouldn't want to stain their image over a piece of the cake. Success in both Exams buddy. |
RasheedahWunmi:I only sent the Official Guide o. Drop your email if you need it too. |
helenmi:I've sent you the Official Guide. |
helenmi:Yes I do. Drop your email if you need it. |
Hi Guys, My GRE prep. is going fine. Four - five hours daily for at least 3 months I think should be sufficient for adequate preparation (I intend to go 5-6 months tho.) I intend to give you guys a heads up on my progress and not to sound ostentatious. I've read/studied the Official Guide (a compulsory starting point) and 2 of the 8 Manhattan Strategy guide series. Each Morning (6am - 7am) before the 4 hours session, I practice the comprehension questions on the 5lb. Manhattan GRE guide. There are almost 100 passages (if not more) and about 180 comprehension questions in total in this book. I take an average of 10 questions (equivalent to about 4-5 passages) in 20 minutes two times each morning. I stick to 20 minutes because on the real test I intend to use about 10 minutes to answer the sentence equivalence and text completion questions then the remaining 20 minutes to face the Comprehension questions. (If there's a flaw in my thinking, please kindly mention). I use about 40 minutes since I go 2 rounds. Afterwards I use about 30 minutes to learn GRE words (average of 10 - 15 words) using the ubiquitous 400 wordlist on NOVA. Then for the 4 hours session I alternate daily between quantitative (presently on the 3rd Manhattan strategy) and verbal (Using Gruber at the moment). I've gone like this daily for about 2 weeks. I intend to take one test on the Official Guide and one on Powerprep after finishing the 8 Manhattan series and Gruber. Then the second test on both mediums after going through all the prep materials I've got; Barron, NOVA math bible, Magoosh wordlist and videos, Princeton, Kaplan - for Analytical Writing-, the 5lb. Manhattan and Gruber (other things being equal). For those of us preparing for the test, keep reading! You're not alone. Also don't forget to keep encouraging others too. God would crown our efforts with success. Amen. Cheers. |
ibnchokomah:Posts like this inspires me - neglect the 'contemplating rewriting' part cos of a 3.5 in AW. I heard about GRE at the inception of my undergraduate final year programme -few months back. I decided that I would give it a try at the end of my programme - of course with the intention to nail it once. Today, I can partially say that I'm through with my programme. Just one paper left. This is to say that an unsmiling shitload of hardwork awaits me - albeit I'm clenching my fist awaiting it also. In this spirit of increasingly high optimism, I implore everyone preparing to take the GRE soon to work in unity dropping relevant tips that can be mutually beneficial on this thread. For those of us preparing to write the exam, lets change the focus of our attention. Let our attention be more exam focused. If you intend to write the exam in say 6 months, draft out the reading schedule for the first month, spill your schedule out here, update us weekely or daily on your progress -positive or negative. Trust me, this will go a long way in increasing your commitment to your GRE prep. You'll inspire others by your progress and others inspire you by their progress. So instead of sitting back there dropping wishy washy posts on here, create your schedule, spill it out here, work, update us, motivate others and also get motivated. Simple formula. For starters I've printed relevant books recommended on this thread. I'll draft my reading schedule for the month of August and spill it out here. By God's grace, I'll also be updating you guys subsequently. I do hope that someone gets motivated. And more importantly, I hope that someone joins me in motivating others. We shall all tell our success story in the end. Amen. |
