Yes I plan to send them all a soft reminder after the new year celebration. Most of them r on vacation currently.

I applied to McGill University with one application fee for 2 msc programs Biological and biomedical engineering and biochemistry. Second is university of Toronto msc biochemistry while third is UBC msc biochemistry.

What about yours?
Ok. I'm going for Msc Economics. I've not decided schools yet but I'm considering University of Calgary or University of Manitoba or Yorke University + some schools in the US.

I just know their names. By the time I lookup their programme requirements, I'll know which to cross off.

You have the best answer already but lemme add little.

Except for few schools, I know, most time, the admission is just for a supervisor to agree to supervise you and acceptance comes with finding. In some cases, you and your supervisor both develop a research proposal together.

For most Canadian research programs, you have the "get a Supervisor" challenge to solve. I can assure you that unlike US professors that you don't reply, most reply "no space" or best refer you to another if they like your profile or proposal. It is challenging task that you need to embrace yourself for before you start. Some are blessed and favoured with little effort but most sweat. Personally I was favoured but still ended mailing many Prof to get few "yes" and their yeses still doesn't guarantee acceptance.

Best application time for funding is between September and January. You came at the deadline period.

Feel free to ask the house more questions.

It is well. All the best bro. Shalom!
Ok. Thanks so much for this piece I'd start preparing myself for the challenge and by God's grace it'll go well.

I'm not entirely late yet. I'm planning to apply next year against Fall 2018 session. Thanks again bro.

i have no idea how funding goes in the US, not even the slightest idea, but canada's case is different. Supervisors fully control who to grant RA (research assistantship)/TA afterall it is from their research grants they pay the students. But for external ones like departmental funding (in some cases) /faculty scholarship/external scholarships, these are beyond the scope of supervisors and they can only provide recommendation letters.
So yes, you can (and you are even encouraged to) discuss funding the moment a supervisor is interested in you working with him, even before you apply. So you'll know your funding status asides from other bonuses like entrance scholarship, international scholarship etc.

By the way, with this your concern for funding, i don't want to say this to discourage you but i really hope your cgpa is very very strong.
Ok. The system is very much different from that of the US. I'd start mailing potential supervisors.

To be honest, funding is a necessity to me. My cgpa is a little above 4.5, I hope it'll do?

I've been experiencing the exact same thing so far. Getting those faculty members to reply you positively on the issue of funding is quite difficult. I've written no less than 12 different potential supervisors for the four programs I applied for with three Canadian schools. Only a few replied me saying their labs are currently full. The larger proportion just kept mum and I don't know if they are considering my application still or aren't quite interested in me.

I think I have a pretty strong profile for d programs I applied for.
Exactly. Someone suggested I send them a gentle reminder after the first few days of silence. It worked; a significant number of them responded after the second email. Though they were mostly the usual excuse-based responses but I felt better knowing my stand. You should do that too.

By the way, what schools did you apply to and what course?

LOL
No mind them. They do admit international students of course.
The program assistant said I could pay the application earlier in
Spring and it would be changed to Fall on their end. When I did
what she advised and it was time to submit application, na im
them change tone. 20k as at that tie just vamoose. ASU is a very
good school and I really love the robustness of their CS program.
Ok. Thanks for this, e no go happen second time grin. I would gladly wait.

first of all, funding is not for course-based masters rather it is for thesis-based/research-based masters.
Funding in most cases depends on supervisors who determine who to grant RA/TA asides from scholarships from other sources. This is usually determined by your academic achievements.
If you want to be funded, speak to a supervisor first, if he accepts you then discuss funding with him, b4 u officially apply. Discuss with your supervisor early enough b4 funds get exhausted.
Those that do not get full funding, get partial funding. Some can get unlucky without funding at all.
Thanks so much for this. Do you think proposed supervisors would talk about funding without admission first? I'm also trying the US and I've mailed several proposed supervisors but most of them do not respond and if they do, they usually indirectly imply that funding and admission decisions are not in their hands and they refer you to the grad cord. The grad cord on the other hand can only tell you if your profile is competitive or not, he can't guarantee you either admission or funding until the application pool is examined first. I really hope canadian supervisors would be different

Hello house! I'm new on this thread. I want to find out if Canadian universities gives FULL funding in the form of GA/TA to Masters students or Masters students are considered mostly for PARTIAL funding just like in the US.
EducationRe: How To Achieve High Scores On The GRE by cuspy(m): 2:40pm On Dec 30, 2016
sirRiddy:
.

I got to know that funding chances are low for one, the other one, ASU, just
chop my application fee (90 dollars) and Utah State said they waive only out of state. So it
is pertinent grad coordinators are contacted way ahead of one's GRE like you suggested

.
I'm considering Arizona State Uni. What really happened abeg? They don't admit international students?

In some schools, you'd find the various openings under financial aid/ support tab. Yet in others, you'd have to mail the grad coordinator to find out if there are openings. But it's usually advisable not to mention anything about funding till one is accepted as it may not always be in one's best interest.
As was mentioned here a while back, you can streamline your search for GA by using the following search keywords

"I am looking for a self motivate graduate student in (major) "

Google that and you'd be amazed at how many positions are listed in different schools.

May God bless our endeavors.
Amen. Would try this ASAP. Thanks.

Granted, there are more spots for graduate assistantship in Fall than spring semesters, but there are still opportunities for funding in spring. You just have to search. Southern Illinois University Carbondale has a number of graduate administrative assistantship openings for spring 2017. Just keep the search going.
Bless up
Thanks much bro. The search begins. Would I find the GA openings on the school's website or I'd have to mail the graduate coordinator yo find out?

You can apply for Spring 2108 but try and take your time to write GRE now and get good score...
ok. But the problem with Spring is that funding would be very much limited compared to Fall.

No, not yet. Waiting for batch A17
But I'm taking the GRE n TOEFL next month. I'll put in a few application tho.
Wbu??
I'm currently serving Bacth B, stream 1. I decided not to apply cos I won't be done with NYSC by July/August next year. But I'd be applying next year against Fall 2018. I've taken the GRE already but I'm going to have a retake as I want very competitive scores and I still have time at my disposal.

If you apply next month, it's definitely going to be for a Masters right? Or you're not considering NYSC?
