As irritating as spam is, if there is anything more irritating, it is when legit emails are sent to the Spam folder. While you can never be sure no legit email will ever get there, here is what you can do to prevent legit emails from going into the spam folder in some of the major email services such as Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo! Mail. As a rule, most email services allow you to tell them what you consider spam and what you don’t. The exact ways to do this vary from one service to the next, but generally if you add the sender to your contact list, this is a signal you want to get his or her messages and most services will honor your wish. Some fellas may already be familiar with the steps below but hopes it helps and we never stop learning. Note that the screenshots below were done with a computer. Stop Legitimate Emails from Being Flagged as Spam in Gmail Gmail’s antispam filter is known to be very advanced and typically it does a good job, but still it’s not uncommon for it to flag legit messages as spam. To correct this, you can either tell it that a given message isn’t spam or add the sender to your contacts, if you haven’t already done this. Follow these steps. To flag a message from the Spam folder as not being spam, either select it in the list of spam messages or open it and click the “Not Spam” button above it. If you don’t want to do this every time you get a legit email from the same sender, you can add them to your contacts. Place your mouse over the sender field and right click. This will open a menu where you can choose to add the sender to your contact list. Stop Legitimate Emails from Being Flagged as Spam in Outlook If you use Microsoft Outlook as a desktop email client and want to stop legit emails from being marked as spam, go to the “Delete” section, click the “Junk” button and from the menu you get, select “Never Block Sender.” If you want to allow mail from a whole domain rather than only a particular user, you can choose the “Never Block Sender’s Domain” option instead. Stop Legitimate Emails from Being Flagged as Spam in Yahoo! Mail The procedure to stop legit emails from being flagged as spam in Yahoo! Mail isn’t much different. Similarly to Gmail, you have two options – to mark a message as not spam and to add the sender to your contacts. Both options are accessible from the right-click menu for the particular message and they look like the following. If you follow these tips, this will drastically reduce the amount of legit messages wrongfully flagged as spam. Unfortunately, no matter what you do, you can never be sure you will get 100 percent correct identification of your messages. This is why it is best to check your Spam folder every now and then just to make sure you haven’t missed a legit email. This kind of makes the Spam folder useless, if you need to check it every now and then, but it’s a good practice. MakeTechEasier

At some point or another you’ve probably noticed your phone taking longer to load apps, content or just being all around sluggish. One of your first steps to fix this is uninstalling apps you don’t use anymore. But what if after you do a massive uninstall your phone is still lagging? It may come as a surprise that the apps slowing down your phone may not be all those unused apps but apps you use every day. The following are ten apps you should consider uninstalling if you're having problems with your phone being sluggish. Am really going to hear it from Nairalanders, but let's take a look at the list anyways. 1. Snapchat Yes Snapchat, ladies forgive me and take some chill pills. Lol Snapchat is a lot of fun to use, but it’s one of the apps that consumes a lot of your phone’s resources. It can take up a lot of battery and memory usage just to post or view all those stories. Not only that, but it also downloads some discovery content, Live Stories and daily news. 2. Amazon Shopping If you shop Amazon regularly, there’s a good chance that you have the app installed. You might want to consider accessing your Amazon account through your browser instead of the app. It’s known to drain a lot of your phone’s battery since it operates in the background to keep you up to date on promotions and current offers. 3. Netflix By being a Netflix user you keep your phone on for extended periods of time since your favourite TV shows last at least 30 minutes. Plus, if you have your display brightness is set too high, you'll definitely need to recharge once you're done watching. 4. Outlook The Outlook email app is probably another reason why you're always charging your phone. Having the sync frequency set too high doesn't help either and regularly checking the app also drains your phone’s battery. You can uninstall Outlook and use the default Android Email app to check your emails. It might not be as nice, but at least your battery will last longer. 5. BBC News If you like to stay informed on what’s going on in the world, you may use an app like BBC News. The downside to that app is not the news but how much battery it takes up. Instead of installing the app, I recommend that you create a shortcut to the BBC News website. 6. Brightest Flashlight-Multi LED Having a flashlight app is always useful for things such as power outages. Be careful not to install just any flashlight app because they could be collecting more data than you’d like. For example, Brightest Flashlight-Multi LED is a very popular app that asks for way too many permissions. Instead of asking permission for just your phone’s camera, it asks permission for things such as identity, contacts, location, phone, photos, WiFi information and more!7. Facebook and Messenger Ladies and Gentlemen spare me! Am really gonna get roasted if i get caught for this one. You're probably thinking that there is no way on the face of this planet that you're going to uninstall Facebook. But, maybe after seeing all the permissions you've said yes to, you might opt for accessing Facebook through your preferred browser. Not only are these two apps two of the biggest battery drains, they also ask for way too many permissions. If you have the app installed, Facebook has permission to delete anything in your internal storage, tracks your exact location, can see who you've contacted (even if it’s not on Facebook), gives continuous access to your microphone, and more! 8. ES File Explorer ES File Explorer may be the most popular file explorer app on Google Play. There’s a reason for that, and it’s because it used to be very good. The free version of the file manager app now comes with adware and bloat-ware that’s always bothering you to install more apps. 9. CLEANit – Boost, Optimize, Small CLEANit is another app you should uninstall right now because the features it has will only harm your phone. For example, clearing your cache too often will slow down your Android device and closing the apps that are open will also drain your device’s battery. When CLEANit closes other apps, it slows down your phone since those apps will eventually open again using up more of your device’s resources. 10. Dolphin Browser Don’t let the hype over Dolphin Browser fool you. This app is a tracking nightmare. It saves the sites you visit even if you're in incognito mode. I’m sure you can find another great option for surfing the Web. Conclusion The above-mentioned apps are popular for a reason, but as you can see, using them comes at a price. Give it a long thought if you want to continue using these apps and sacrifice too much in the process. What app would you add to the list? Apple’s iPhones are designed with only one button on the front of the devices. Before using your first iPhone, you would think it is almost impossible to break the home button. This is not true. It is enough to accidentally drop your smartphone to the ground with the face down to break that special button which is responsible for many important functions, including unlocking your iPhone (especially when you Touch ID is enabled). So let’s say you broke your home button on your device. Now you are wondering whether your iPhone can still be used or if you should bring the smartphone to a service center for somebody to repair it. Fortunately, Apple is aware of such issues with the company’s devices and have prepared a useful function in iOS which you can use to replace the home button of your iPhone. Warranty Before you consider using this function, you should check whether you (still) have a warranty on your smartphone. If you do, Apple or the retailer you purchased the device from can replace the home button for free. You can easily check whether you are eligible for the replacement by visiting Apple’s website. Apple will ask you to provide the serial number for your hardware. By this, the company means the IMEI number – every smartphone has a unique one – which you can find in multiple places. If you previously synced your iPhone with iTunes, you can find the IMEI number there. If haven’t synced it or you do not want to use iTunes, you can navigate to Settings/General and Information. However, the easiest way to find your device’s unique code is to check the back of your device. Under the “iPhone” label you will see your IMEI number. AssistiveTouch If you can’t (or do not want) to replace the home button of your device physically, you can replace it virtually in iOS. There is a little- known accessibility feature called AssistiveTouch which you can use to create a virtual home button on your screen. 1. Navigate to Settings and then General. When there, tap Accessibility. Since there are many functions under this menu, you should search for the Interaction , category where you will find AssisstiveTouch. 2. After clicking on the button, tap the toggle switch to turn AssisstiveTouch on. 3. If you did everything right, you should see a rounded rectangle with a circle in the middle appear on your screen. However, how can you use this function? To start using AssistiveTouch, you should tap on the rounded rectangle. After clicking on it, your iPhone will show you a menu where you can access various features, such as the home button, Control Center or Siri. After a while, when you get familiar with the options in this menu, you might wonder how you can turn off your device with AssistiveTouch? First, you should tap the AssistiveTouch icon to launch the on-screen controls. When there, tap Device. Tap and hold the lock screen until the slide to power off your iPhone displays. After that, you should slide to power off your device. MakeTechEasier
