PhonesWhy Pattern Locks Are Not Secure On Android And The Best Alternatives by cyber5(op):
Still using pattern lock for your
Android phone? Here is why pattern lock is not secure and how you can protect you by using an alternative locking method.

Smartphones have become a
device where you keep a lot of
personal data. You may have
information such as your credit
card numbers, address or scanned
personal documents. Because you have such sensitive data, you add a
security method to prevent others
from accessing it.

A popular security method around
40% of Android users choose is a
pattern lock. A pattern lock may
sound more appealing because it’s easier to enter. Also, no one can
see you tap on particular letters and
numbers.

But, are pattern locks
really that secure?

The Risks of Pattern Locks

According to new security research
from Lancaster University,
Northwest University in China, and
the University of Bath, 95% of Android patterns can easily be
guessed in 5 attempts or less.

This
study discovered that hackers could easily guess your pattern lock by
filming you as you enter your
pattern lock.

The hacker can easily be up to two
and a half meters away and only
use their smartphone’s camera to
record you entering your pattern
lock. If they were to use a digital
SLR camera, they could even be as
nine meters away regardless of the
size of the phone’s display.

Once they have the video footage,
they use a computer vision
algorithm to process your finger
movements. Within seconds, the
algorithm will then give the hacker
some possible pattern lock combinations to try out.

There is also no need to record
your phone’s display since the
algorithm can give possible
combination by only focusing on
your finger movements.

Is it safer to use a more complex pattern?

No, since the more
complex they are, the easier they
are to guess. This is true because
they help the algorithm narrow
down the possible combinations.

Dr. Zhheng Wang, principle
investigator and co-author of the
paper said that people have a
tendency to use more intricate
patterns when trying to protect
important financial information.

If you don’t want to change your
pattern lock method to a password
or pin, try using a shorter one since
they are not as easy to crack. The
researchers also advise that users
cover the display while entering their pattern lock, just like when
you enter your pin at the ATM.

Keeping your smartphone’s display
clean is also a good idea because
someone can guess your pattern
by the smudges on the phone
screen.

Pattern Lock Alternatives

If you're ready to leave your
pattern lock behind, a pin, face
recognition access or a fingerprint
(if available) are also great options.

Traditional passwords are also a
great option but the longer they
are, the better. Adding some
special characters to your password
will secure your information even
more.

When creating your password,
never use personal and obvious
information. For example, never
use your kids or spouse’s birthday
or your wedding anniversary.

Conclusion

Locking your Android device with a
pattern lock is definitely more convenient, but it’s not the safest method to choose from. Passwords
do take longer to enter but will do a
better job of keeping your data
safe.

Files are best recovered on pc and the reason i said you should download a cracked version of Files Recovery Pro is because after the app has recovered your files from the SD Card, Flash Disk etc i will require you to purchase the premium version of it before you can saved the recovered files. But the cracked version is free from all that so far you follow the installation process correctly

To create the Hotspot or Ad-Hoc Network

1. Search for ' Manage Network' Thistles will show a list of wireless network your PC has connected to.

2. Click Add. A window will pop-up with 2 options
*create Ad-Hoc network
*manually set-up network
Choose create Ad-Hoc option and fill in the SSID, Encryption type, and check (tick) the little box then save it.

You are good to go, the network will added to the lists of available connections.

To transfer from Pc-Pc

1. On your pc, connect to the network you've just created. After connecting it will be waiting for users to connect to it. So that makes the pc with the Ad-Hoc network the host.

3. On the pc you want to transfer files from or want to transfer to, connect it to the network the host pc has created.

4. On the host pc, go to my Network places after the host network has identified the (guest) pc. Click on the pc connected and input the login details of the guest pc. So everything on the C Drive of the other pc (guest) will appear so you can copy files to or from the guest pc.

Note that Network Sharing must be enabled on both PCs.

Forgive my errors and blunders if any, i was rushing to get this typed so i could charge my phone, you know how power supply is epileptic in some places

Phones5 Possible Reasons You Can’t Install Apps On Your Android Phone by cyber5(op): 2:21pm On Jul 10, 2017
If you're having problems installing apps on your Android device, it could be due to one of these issues. Find out how to fix the problem below.
Let’s say you just found a great new game to while away the commute, or your friend just recommended a handy app that will make your life easier, but for some reason you're hitting a brick wall when you try to install it.
There are various things that could cause a problem when you try to install apps.
Check through the list to see if any of these answers solve the issue and allows you to install apps again.
1. Your Android phone doesn't have enough storage left
If you have a lot of other apps, videos or photos on your device, it could be using up most of your available memory. Check how much the app you want to install needs and whether you have enough space for it.
You can check this by going to Settings, then Storage. Check your phone has enough space for the app
2. Your phone’s cache could be causing the problem
Delete the Google Play Store’s cache and data on your Android device and try installing the app again. To delete the cache go to Settings, Apps, and All (swipe to the right to find this list). Then look for Google Play Store and tap on it. In that menu, scroll down and tap on Clear data. Just below that, you should see Clear cache, which you should also tap. Clearing the Play Store's cache could solve the problem
3. Your Android OS is too old and needs updating
Some apps will only work with later OS updates. Try updating your phone and then attempting to install the app again.
You can update your Android’s operating system by going to Settings, followed by About and then Software updates. There you should see the option to Check now. Tap on that and follow the instructions. Your phone's operating system may need an update
4. A factory reset of your phone may fix the problem
In some cases, resetting your Android device might solve the problem. Before you do that though, make sure everything important on your phone has been backed up so that you can recover it after the reset.
To reset your phone, go to Settings, Backup & reset, and then press Reset.
Try resetting your phone to solve the issue
5. You're using a screen dimming app
It’s quite common to use an app to adjust your screen’s brightness or the colour of its light. If you are using an app like this, it may be the reason you aren't able to install Android apps. If you're seeing the Install button but can’t click on it, this is most likely the problem you are having.
The reason for this is the way these screen dimming apps work. In order to adjust your screen’s output, the app actually adds an additional graphic element on top of your ordinary display. When your phone detects this, it disables the Install button.
This is a security measure designed to protect you from malicious software. If it didn't do this, malware could use an overlay to trick you into doing anything it wanted.
The good news for you, is that disabling the screen-dimming app should fix the problem.
Once you have installed the app you want, you can enable the screen- dimming app again, and enjoy your Android.

Any smart phone user or owner out there would agree that one of the most dreaded place(s) to hold and operate a smartphone anywhere in the world is that place with large volume of water; particularly if you don’t own a waterproof or water- resistant device. Surely, an average smartphone user would have, one way or the other, had their smartphone drop in water. Could be swimming pools, drainage system, the kitchen sink, the toilet water closet, in the shower, at the beach, or could even be rain.
There are really numerous routes via which your phone can get wet.
Thanks to the emergence and upsurge of waterproof and water- resistant devices (yes, there really is a difference) like the Homtom HT20, Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, Ulefone Armor 2, LG G6, Samsung Galaxy S7, Homtom HT20 Pro, Samsung Galaxy Xcover 4, etc,.
People have had to worry less about being overly careful when handling their devices near water .bodies as they can just dip their hands into the water, remove their device, wipe it dry and they're good to go.
However, for individuals without a waterproof device, you can do the following below to revive your smart phone back to life after the drowning experience.

WHAT TO DO
1. Firstly, whenever your smartphone drops in water, you must “quickly” remove the device out of whatever water it falls into, be it toilet water filled with urine. The faster you remove the device out of the water body, the higher its chances of survival. Reverse will be the case when you stand still, staring at your smartphone (or soon-to-be former smartphone) in awe before finally deciding to remove it after 5 minutes.
2. If the phone has a removable battery, the next best bet is to remove the battery.
3. If your device’s battery is non-removable, make sure you switch the device off as soon as it is out of water.
4. Afterwards, remove all other components that are removable. E.g SIM cards, SD card, back cover.
5. If you happen to know your way around disassembling a smartphone, you can go ahead and rip out every single part of the device carefully as this will hasten the drying up process. But if you aren't tech savvy and do not have the tools or know how to disassemble your device, skip this step and proceed to step 6.
6. Remove water on the surface with a dry cloth or preferably a towel. While doing this, be sure not to press any button or shake the device. This is to avoid the water from moving deeper into the phone.
7. Next step is to leave the smartphone to dry out for a relatively long period of time. Basically, the idea here is to put the device in an environment that will support its drying off.
A common practice is to dip the smartphone in a bag full of rice for 2-5 days. Rice is an effective moisture absorber, so it dries out the water in the smartphone quicker than leaving it on the shelves to dry.
WHAT NOT TO DO
When you have a smartphone drop in water, do not do the following as you could permanently damage your device.
1. Do not turn on the device immediately after removing it from water.
2. Do not, for any reason, plug the device to a power source.
3. Do not push any keys or button. You risk pushing water further into your device
4. Do not shake or blow air into the device. This also could push water into your device.
5. Do not apply any heat to the phone as excessive heat can do further damage to the phone.
