fact is a lot of bankers don't know much about Treasury Bills and Bonds....speak to people working in Treasury or the Investment banks.

that is why I still prefer to use the Investment Houses for most of my transactions, afterall these Tbills and Bonds are kept with Custodians so no risk of the Investment house going bust.

These bankers can really frustrate ur life! all they know is meeting their targets with savings account or current account or fixed deposit
please help with names of some reputable investment houses that deal on TBills, bonds and the likes

Naira isn't gonna be devalued! PMB has said so severally! ( afterall we have been devaluing Naira since when I was born yet it hasn't improved any thing in Nigeria cheesy)

CBN will have to look for other novel ways to weather this FOREX storm just as we pray for oil to rebound or for PMB to recover $5T from the looters..

but if I were you I will put the money in 180 days Tbills and go to bed
Thanks then. Just applied for the Feb 3rd offer. I appreciate your efforts sir, remain blessed

Daddi, that's the way to go for now. Budget spending starts around second quarter and rates will definitely go up then. Go for short term investment now. 91 days TB is OK.
@mekaboy, exclusiveoloori and all for the help so far. The cash I have, I want to use it for a project towards the end of the year. I'm afraid the naira might be DEVALUED going by present economic situation. So if I leave it in liquid cash wit TB is one of them, its risky. If I use it to get property eg (real estate, landed property) I cant vouch how easy it'll b to resale when I need the cash.
So this is my dilemma .
Thanks all.

My TB investment matured since, but my headache in investing in other things like the stock market or even bonds is my strong FEAR that the naira might be DEVALUED. I wanted to invest in the stocks but which stock is the best to invest in is the worry coupled with the fear of devaluation.
I'm really confused, can someone help me out on this?

I don't seem to understand your point...you have not been consistent...

What point are you trying to make?
Between 1 Cedi and 1 Naira, which is more valuable? Which one do you think is higher?

These things are intentional trade, I do not need to go to ghana to find out what exchange rates are.
The simple way to understand it is every 1 cedi u see is in actual value 100cedis. so your comparison now should be if 1cedi =N52 it actually means 100cedis=N52. In this case you don't look at the face figure but the value. Hope this will explain it better.

dude the explanations @mekaboy gave you was a hit back to back.
So bro if its the naira you want come and collect it.

Are you talking about the rate?
no he's not talking about the rates rather the value of physical cash. Meaning if you have 1.5m in NTB maturing in April 2016 and naira was devalued in February 2016, how useless or useful has it made the cash?

Is the invested principal insured, if so, up-to what amount? And since the yield is a floating rate, is there a guaranteed minimum, and a ceiling?

I could remember the final Nigeria Played against Spain in 2007, Akinsola and Chrisantus lead the team from front... Akinsola claimed to be 16 years during the tournament but the dude got 2kids at home already, Never knew life was so easy in Nigeria a 16 year old kid would think of starting a family. Check the Spanish team that lost that final match to Nigeria We got David Degea, Asier Illarramendi, Bojan Krkić, Nacho, and many more and they still playing active football in top class teams while you can't point to a Nigerian player of that set playing in a good European club... Hazard and Benteke played that same tournament, but where are the Tella Golden Boyshuh?

Bro forget Fifa scan, i know alot of players who take fruits and water only for a month or more just to scale through those tests, could remember some years back when a dude was on who wants to be a millionaire, the guy said he was narrowly dropped from U20 camp cuz he couldn't settle some officials but when Frank asked his real age the dude said he was 42, now tell me how long this dude will play before hanging his bootshuh
as ignorant as the writer of that article.
Journalism in Nigeria laced with so many quacks and abuse. If its not writing ignorantly on what they know nothing about, its writing on sheer bias and twist of facts.
Let me educate you, BCISLTD , Intendy and others a bit. For the records U20 is the best grade to use in judging players making it to the senior team. That notwithstanding the Nigeria U17 graduates do have good careers. In 93 our squad that won that tournament had about 7-8 players that made it to SE, kanu, oruma, Babangida, the Babayaros, oparaku to name but a few. Its a feet.
Kudos to bushdoc9919 he summarized the problem, no football development and boss1310.
The writer should've talked about how to uplift our league to support the emerging talents we're churning out, he's writing crap. As Dragonking talked about is his eye gauge test and beer parlour source better than scientific MRI test?
Cheating do exist before in which Nigeria is not the only culprit. But since the teams of 2013 and 2015, I guess we have young boys that is 70% in order, mind you 70% is a good outcome in any activity.
To you what's success is when they start playing in EPL, LA liga etc, so Spain 'll throw their U17 graduates and collect yours? Those guys you named above are there because that's their home league. With the level of of talents we keep churning out, if our league can be like that of Egypt, SA etc these guys careers'll flourish n we'll do better in senior tournaments.
In modern football blended teams get the day more than star studded teams. Eg Spain 2008-2012, Germany 2002-2014. The secret these U17s do well is that they have time to blend(they're camped together for like 2-7months), coupled with the zeal to succeed in every young Nigerian. I have a lot to educate you and the writer but for time constraint. I know that safarigirl and CFCfan should've done better service to this kind of thread.
In this level, we win because we're better. Stop being pessimistic and a sadist.

For the 2nd time in a month,my bank cldnt go thru wit again wit the bidding sayin it was unsuccessful and my account creditted back. Anyone else experienced it? Wat else can one invest in that can fetch one a gud profit and safe?
I don't state rate, just allow them to go with their prevailing rates. Like the 21st October bid I got 8% for 91days, which I'm convinced it's fair. So with that its always hard to get my bids unsuccessful. Better luck next time

The interest may be slightly less than that of TBills for similar period; Your interests accrue daily but not paid upfront; you can invest as low as 5k; you can redeem your investments after 30 days without any penalty.

The above applies mainly to the Money market funds. There may be slight variations with other MF types.
ok, thanks

If you invest 500k in 15.54% FGN 2020 you will be paid interest of approx 38,850 twice a year.. for the next 4 and half years (pls note that this is not an exact figure...)
good, this means it works like SI calculation formula (P*T*R)/100. Therefore for the 4.5yrs duration the person'll get approx 349,650.
Thanks bro, my only concern to this is the current state of the naira (that may face devaluation), coupled with inflation. Gracias to unite4real, neroflo57, naijainvestor etal

Is it that the yield curve in Nigeria is so downward sloping or that some backs are a rip off. What am I missing. Why would a 91 day go for 10% and a 182 day goes for 12%? It would have been more prudent to do a 91 day at 10% and the roll over at maturity
By my projections 91 day is about right but 182 should have been around 15%
Hi, I made an enquiry from you, about bonds. Have been expecting a reply, pls respond. Thanks in advance

pls I want to invest in FG bond for 16th sept
2015, for the 5yrs(4.5yrs) duration but what I
want to understand in a lay-man's knowledge is;
if i subscribe for that of N500,000 how much
(the amount) 'll be my interest if the percentage
is like 15.54% for instance. when'll i be paid, i
hear things like semi annually? Pls gurus in the
house help thanks. cc: naijainvestor , feelamong
