raumdeuter:Hmmm.. The people who argued with you on the Gerrard matter?? Scud Missiles Fired?? |
Nihilist:The same scholes wey subsequent England managers dey prostrate to say make e come outta retirement even at age 35 or so?? Okay oo.. |
elampiro:That Yeye Ac milan Coached by Leonardo abi Wetin be hin name?? That side wasn't better than Spartak Moscow Abeg. Inter milan had Julio Cesar; best goalie in the world ( he was 1st choice & not Toldo - My bad) ............... Julio Cesar.............. Maicon.....Samuel......Lucio........Chivu ........... Thiago Motta.....Cambiasso ....Pandev...............Sneijder................... .........................Eto.......Milito.......... Didn't you watch the semi final 2nd leg vs Barca?? This team eliminated Barca despite playing the majority of that match with 10 men....Messi was totally useless throughout. In the final vs Bayern, it was a typical Mourihno-esque performance - Bayern did the playing while Inter picked their moments & it worked perfectly. I've never been a fan of bus-packing but mehn, the efficient way the team went about it was excellent. |
ollah1:And you forgot to mention how Sergio Busquets shoulda copped an Oscar award in the circumstances that led to Thiago Motta's controversial/unjust sending - off |
nitlad:Fixed... Person be dey play your record yesterday - I hear say you don popular for that place sotay na installmental payment you dey implement ...even at "contractor" ![]() |
raumdeuter: ![]() Ode ni e I'm not your partner in crime (Nitlad) |
tess1:I think their argument is ; "if the likes of Carlotti, Guardiola etc had managed at a top club for 25 years, they woulda won many more UCL trophies" Personally, I feel sir Alex coulda done much better - his records aren't too impressive TBH. 2 UCL wins, losing finalists twice & maybe 3 Semi-final appearances in 25 years isn't exactly a record one can boast of. |
elampiro:Not so sure about this... That Inter Milan side that won the UCL that year - the team na diee!! Toldo - Samuel - Sneijder - Eto.. The spine of the team was rock solid. Sneijder was even the best player in the world that season (another argument for another day). Maicon, Cambaisso, the versatile Chivu, the free scoring Diego Milito....Lawd - Mourihno had a set of warriors/champions/merceneries at his disposal. That team perfectly suited Mourihno's "battle mode" mentality |
A few weeks ago, Martial was on fire....scoring at will and providing assists. His form excited everyone (including me Ofcourse) but at the same time, I was apprehensive because we were actually looking up to a 19year old (who should still be adjusting to the rigors of the EPL, new team mates, life in England etc) for Miracles. It may seem a bit too early to judge (and I sincerely hope I'm wrong on this) but the Martial I have seen in the last 2 games looks tired & burned out. If this is the case (I seriously hope otherwise), then we might have to brace ourselves up for ; • An attack worse than the toothless and blunt one presently on show (In the top 8, our attack is only better than that of crystal palace as we speak) • Subliminal shots at Martial by the dreaded English press...leading to unnecessary pressure on the young lad, which could have devastating effects on his growth & development. TBH, I never liked the "New Henry" blahblahblah jargons - we all know what such comparisons have done to some talented "up & coming" players & the ultimate prayer is that he doesn't tow that line. I hope Martial's Cool-headed nature bails us out of this potential mess |
SailorXY:Which then begs the question - what was young doing there in the 1st place?? If he was there because smalling was caught out of position (which I strongly believe is the case), then the man donning the #12 shirt should carry most of the blame. |
elampiro:But you told us he would score 30 league goals. How e wan take score if he is left out?? |
Hardetayour:Yet our genius of a manager played him as a wingback... Whose fault is "bigger"?? |
Smalling |
McNair in a back 3 Darmian as a wingback Van gaal is a genius!!!!! ![]() |
With what I've seen so far, I'd gladly take a draw |
Nihilist:Apples and oranges.. Boateng never made any "executive" TOTY list like FIFPro, neither has he ever been heralded as the greatest defender in the world so I fail to get the comparison. Like I said earlier, Gerrard was a top player. Comparing him to Scholes is the issue here. |
Nihilist:Nobody said Gerard wasn't a good player. Comparing "Captain" Fantastic to "Field Marshal" Paul Scholes is the ish here. |
Nihilist:But we should count on the opinions of a piss-sodden journo who wrote that keane & Beckham were better players?? Issokay... Nihilist:*In coogar's voice* have you sorted out the goals/assists via setplays?? ![]() The last time I checked, Scholes was never UTD's chief set piece taker. Nihilist:Gerrard won the award based on his performance in The UCL final.. If anything, His leadership qualities and ("ginger" he gave his team mates ) were more effective than his technical abilities on the night. If AC Milan weren't foolish enough to cede a 3-goal lead in a final, Gerrard for No smell that award. Ginger wey prevent am from winning an EPL medal all these years ![]() Nihilist:That's because Gerrad was a media boy "Captain Fantastic strikes again" (despite being piss-poor in that FA cup final vs Westham) "Gerrard and his wards coast to victory in the mersyside derby" (against the likes of Tony Hibbert, Jelavic etc) We all know how Brits wànk to Headlines like these (from English Tabloids). No be the same Gerrard prevent Liverpool from winning the EPL 2 seasons ago?? Abeggi!! |
Nihilist:We have trashed out this issue on numerous ocassions.. Again.. Thierry Henry: Arsene Wenger: Nihilist:That's because Sven Goran Erickson is a clueless whimp.. No be the same coach carry 17 year old Walcott (who hadn't played a single EPL match in his life) go 2006 worldcup?? Subsequent Managers tried to talk the Midfield Generalismo out of retirement..all to no avail. Nihilist:Paul Scholes was the best Midfielder in the world at that time. If the aforementioned players came to Man Utd, na The likes of fletcher & Anderson dem for dey compete with! ![]() |
Nihilist...From now on, bow down to Scholes and recite these Eulogies everyday (1st thing in the morning)! Jose Mourinho: “Why isn’t he playing for England? It is crazy. Only in England. Scholes is a great, great player. So experienced and still, for me, one of the best in the world in midfield. Manchester United are lucky to have him.” Pep Guardiola: “Out of everyone at Manchester United, I would pick out Scholes – he is the best midfielder of his generation. I would have loved to have played alongside him.” Marcello Lippi: “ Paul Scholes would have been one of my first choices for putting together a great team. That goes to show how highly I have always rated him. An all-round midfielder who possesses quality and character in abundance.” Socrates: “Good enough to play for Brazil. I love to watch Scholes, to see him pass, the boy with the red hair and the red shirt.” Pele: “If he was playing with me, I would score so many more.” Zinedine Zidane: “There is no doubt for me that Paul Scholes is still in a class of his own. He’s almost untouchable in what he does. I never tire of watching him play. You rarely come across the complete footballer, but Scholes is as close to it as you can get. One of my regrets is that the opportunity to play alongside him never presented itself during my career.” Luis Figo: “I’m star-struck when I see Paul Scholes because you never see him. On the pitch you can’t catch him. Off the pitch he disappears.” Ronaldinho: “I want to pass like him. Who taught him how to do that?” Xavi Hernandez: “In the last 15 to 20 years the best central midfielder that I have seen — the most complete — is Scholes. I have spoken with Xabi Alonso about this many times. Scholes is a spectacular player who has everything. He can play the final pass, he can score, he is strong, he never gets knocked off the ball and he doesn’t give possession away. If he had been Spanish then maybe he would have been valued more.” |

SailorXY:If PSG are willing to pay the 400k being touted, I see no reason why Ronaldo would settle for a reduced salary in a country with relatively poorer climatic conditions & less funfare all in the name of "sentiments & loyalty" One can only hope the PSG rumours are false |
sinizia:Hehehhehe it's not as If some peeps here don't know the truth - they have only decided to ignore obvious facts probably due to sentiments & the present shitty form of our fowards. But mehn... Those figures though Team #Say No to |
elampiro:He must be a Foool then.. Useless players have started hiding under the rubbish Possession Footie LVG is serving us. If the "Philosophy" is as conservative as the want us to believe, Valencia will be the captain of the side. |
I really cant wait for the game against Wolfsburg - not because i'm optimistic about our chances, but because i want to see how LVG will approach the match |
Man Utd ace: I'm half the player I can be under Van Gaal and I can't express mysel AN ANONYMOUS Manchester United player has confessed that he is struggling to reach his full potential playing under Louis van Gaal. Reports have emerged that a player within the United camp is unhappy with things at Old Trafford with the 64-year-old at the helm. Speaking on BBC Radio 5live, Telegraph football journalist Jason Burt said: "I've got to be careful what I say here but I've spoken to one player at United who told me he's half the player he can be here at the moment because of the way they are playing. "He doesn't feel that it's fair on him. He doesn't feel that it's fair on the fans. He can't express himself properly and finds it very difficult to play here." The Red Devils sit one point above PSV going into their final game against Wolfsburg, knowing they need to better the Dutch side's result. Van Gaal has been criticised for his tactics in recent weeks with Paul Scholes branding their playing style "boring." His philosophy has seen United keep six clean sheets in seven matches but struggle to threaten the opposition with attacking football - they've scored just six goals in eight matches. But while the performances are perhaps unconvincing, United sit second in the Premier League table, one point behind Leicester. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/622163/Man-United-ace-Louis-Van-Gaal-can-t-express-myself-Premier-League-MUFC-News |
elampiro:I never really liked the idea of Sadio Mane joining us but it since Depay seems hell-bent on being useless &worthless, I would welcome the Southampton man with both arms wide open. |
chrisley024:Martial was dissapointing TBH. It's either the lad hasnt fully recovered or the much dreaded "burn out" is here already (i hope not). And to think we were even mocking Arsenal .. ![]() |
Possession Football without Penetration ... We are about to reap the true benefits ![]() When the draws were made, i expected us to top the group comfortably but here we are -Thursday Night Football Staring us in the face!! If we fail to qualify for the next stage (God forbid), the only compensation would be for LVG to win the EPL. |
Lingard - lots of enthusiasm .. Limited ability!! #Typically British# ![]() |
