This time the midfielders are too soft. Modric doesn't have someone behind him to act as a brick wall. So his ability to express himself is limited. Counter attacks are less effective since no one can do long balls out of defensive area or a midfielder who can carry the ball forward.

fact is that top players are egocentric; Ronaldo, Rooney, Bale, Neymar, Messi Zlatan, name them. The issue is how the manager handles it and sets up his team to bring the best out of them.

Someone even said he shouldn't be bought cos he can't track back. does Messi or Neymar or Suarez track back?. The problem with Madrid is they concentrate on stars not having a team. That team has no DM, someone to do the dirty job, (which team does that) and some are surprised why they concede easily.

As for spending, Barca does it very well and can afford to use their young players with this their attack.

How can you guys say you don't want Ronaldo back? Someone who will guarantee 25 goals from the wing. Even if it's just three seasons. May be we get Robben in the other end of the wing for one or two seasons. That's enough time to get the young ones to grow. We are going to get inconsistencies from Lingard and Memphis.

If I had my way I would even buy Vardy this January. But I don't know if he will gel with the philosophy. We can see our pacing striker who plays like Bardy, Wilson struggles in the perhaps philosophy.

If we need instant success we need to spend to bring some world class who can temporarily make among the strongest in Europe.

Ronaldo would be a good addition to our side but The money Madrid will be looking to make from us is the issue here - I won't be surprised if they ask for De Gea + 100m.

I really don't get this "Barca this, Barca that" exaggeration. The team is good - no doubt but like airmark pointed out, this same Barca side lost 4-1 to Celta Vigo.

If anything, emphasis should be laid on how pathetic Madrid were. They actually played with 8 players - Bale, Benzema & Hames were literarily "Short -three". The decision to rush them back is arguably the worst I have seen in a high-profile game in recent times.

Surprisingly, we didn't do too badly when we switched to a back 3.
