We pray so! Few years back OK BAKASSI Challenged Ohakim in a joke just for plays, and lol and behold the ousted gov stood there in the crown and made him the FIRST EVER SA TO THE GOV ON ENTERTAINMENT(Creating that ministry), Afterwards, what happened? Okey tried his best and in the past and lost PDP dispensation, he contested for IMHA and the rest can be imagined as PDP lost woefully. My issue is are these people really fit for this job? Sometime in early 2000 i opted as a student leader and an activist to see the then Rivers state Gov, and lo and behold i met Hilda, she performed well though but i assume she is fit to be in there for Youth and Sports or so, But believe you me not all of these people know what they are going in there to do. I pray they have genuine causes sha |

This should be replicated in all states, where crave for more pay without work to show for same?? naija i hail o! Earn your pay, Oshiomhole tells indolent teachers BY JETHRO IBILEKE July 5, 2011 11:47PM print email Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State yesterday warned teachers in the state to sit up or get the sack, saying government would not hesitate to dismiss any teacher found guilty of dereliction of duties. Mr Oshiomhole, who handed out this warning while laying the foundation stone of a new state model school in Iyamho, Etsako West local government area decried the attitude of some teachers who engage in trading during official hours. “I have directed the commissioner for Education to fire any teacher who is not at his duty post without a good reason. We will not tolerate appeals and representation once the teacher has been fired. We need to do whatever we must do to ensure our pupils are properly taught by teachers who give excuses now not to teach properly,” said the governor. He said it was “extremely sad” for him to acknowledge that most of teachers don’t earn their pay. “They alternate, rather than come to school every day. Some come to school for two days, Monday, Tuesday and they go to Onitsha, Wednesday, Thursday and play politics on Friday. They offer excuses for each other to ensure that they are paid. This is absolutely unacceptable,” he said. Protecting the future He however expressed the commitment of government to providing the enabling investment for education to thrive in the state, saying that it is the future of the people. “The school is for the state and not the community in which it is located,” he said. The state Commissioner for Education, Ekpenisi Omorotionmwan had earlier observed that prior to the advent of the present governor, the state of the public school system was an embarrassment. “The ministry shall continue to sustain efforts at actualizing these infallible vision and mission of the Adams Oshiomhole administration geared towards the advancement of education in the state,” he said. When completed, the model school shall comprise two blocks of 27 standard classrooms, three fully equipped science laboratories, a library and 1500 capacity hall. |
My question remains why many peoeple are leaving their talents and venturing into politics OKEY BAKKASSI TONY ONE WEEK HILDA DOKUBO to mention but a few, I wish them good luck and jonathan From GEOFFREY ANYANWU, Awka Wednesday, July 06, 2011 More Stories on This Section Nollywood actor and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) member, Mr Tony Muonagor a.k.a. Earlier, the Deputy Majority Whip and member representing Idemili South Constituency, Uche, in supporting the motion by the Majority Leader, Oseke for adjournment of the sitting to today had appealed to the judiciary and health workers in the state to call off the strike, assuring that the House would do all it could to see that the issues involved were resolved. |
By Obinna Chima 06 Jul 2011 Following the criticisms that trailed its proposal to liquidate the rescued banks if they fail to recapitalise by September 30, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has soft-pedalled as it is now weighing nationalising the banks. The CBN said that it was considering making the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) the majority shareholder in the rescued banks by plugging their equity shortfalls if they were unable to recapitalise before the deadline. AMCON is an instrument of the Federal Government set up to bail out the rescued banks by acquiring their toxic assets. Bloomberg quoted Deputy Governor, Financial System Stability, CBN, Dr. Kingsley Moghalu, as saying this Tuesday in Pretoria, South Africa. Moghalu disclosed that nationalising the affected banks was a more likely alternative if some of them did not find investors or merging partners – rather than forcing them to liquidate. The CBN had given the rescued banks till September 30 to recapitalise, failing which they might be liquidated. CBN Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, had however pointed out that liquidating the affected banks was the apex bank’s last option. Finbank Plc, Intercontinental Bank Plc, Spring Bank and Union Bank of Nigeria Plc have all identified their preferred investors. Similarly, Oceanic International Plc recently said it had shortlisted three investors and that it would make an official announcement this month. According to Moghalu, “The deadline is a very serious one. We have the responsibility as a systemic financial regulator to make sure the banking system is normalised by the end of the year. While nationalisation is not the favoured option, it is preferable to liquidation. If AMCON takes a majority stake in a bank, it may manage the bank for a year or two before selling it on. “Stability in the short term has been achieved. The banking system is functioning. We are working towards medium to long-term stability, but for that to happen, we must resolve the eight banks in which we’ve intervened.” Besides, Moghalu said the apex bank was also considering other options apart from nationalisation and liquidation for the rescued banks which might not meet the deadline. He however did not outline the other options. “I want to downplay the option of liquidation. We put out the threat, but it was to concentrate people’s minds. It doesn’t mean we will wake up and liquidate banks. If people want to play rough, we have to show them we can play rough,” he said. The deputy governor however lamented that there was a lot of vested interests working against the recapitalisation process. Notwithstanding, he said, at least three of the rescued banks were expected to sign agreements with investors in coming weeks. He declined to give details. “There are a number of vested interests coming to scuttle the process. I can assure you those vested interests won’t prevail. As the regulator, we have the policies and powers to make sure we restore full financial stability one way or another,” he added. Commenting on the development, banking analyst at Renaissance Capital, Mr. Adesoji Solanke, advised the management teams of Union Bank, FinBank and Intercontinental Bank which he said were clear on their recapitalisation plans to announce their Transaction Implementation Agreements (TIAs). Solanke said in an e-mail to THISDAY Tuesday: “The three banks mentioned earlier should announce the signing of their TIA very soon; proceed to get regulatory approval; then hold required shareholder meetings. The 30 September deadline is firm and quickly approaching, and for the intervened banks to successfully scale all regulatory hurdles, the earlier mentioned events must kick off this month or early August, given statutory timelines required to hold certain meetings.” |

Please what is their limitation to making it in naija here. If they couldnt survive here by good means, then they intend to go and do some shady things out there, TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT!!! Do we even thing going abroad is going there to pick money on the street? PLSSSSSSS GREED , AVARY, NON CONTENTMENT, LAZINESS AND ALLL THAT AMOUNT TO THESE silly ACT. fOR THOSE IN THE uni,,,THEY WOULD LATER ON COUNT THEIR LOSSES!!! |
There are many faces to this issue in question and the purpoted migration to europe et all for this unholy trade. There also abounds various school of tots, but all in all, Their situations arent the worst in the country they have simply decided to take the easy way out, Have researched of some ladies who know their purpoted trade out their before hand and have embrassed them whole heartedly See my Gee,,,,,,,THIS ISSUE HAS NO CONSOLATION TIED TO IT, Scholarships abound everywhere these days and learning a trade is just so easy too, but patience is needed, Yes you talk of their hardwork, IT IS A MISPLACED HARDWORK, IF SAME IS CHANNELED INTO MEANINGFUL VENTURE THEN THE SKY WOULD BE THEIR STEPPING STONE There isnt an excuse WHAT IS WRONG IS WRONG, ELSE A ROBBER WOULD GIVE SIMILAR EXCUSE, Not so? |
^^@mai suya, YES 20% FOR THE VISIBLE ONE THE REST % Goes to the INVISIBLE LADIES, Who always travel out up and down and left right. The % may have correlation with the university location though. For the real statistics? Cant tell exactly but in schools like IMSU, UNILAG, the rate can even be higher compared to schools like FUTO THAT IS IN A BUSH LOCATION. These are schools i can tell of with good authority, At least for now(Please dont quote me sha, rather make your researches on these) But all in ALL the issue is PROSTITUTION,,, NO MATTER HOW WE MAY PUT IT IS UNJUSTIFIABLE!!!^^ |
@tom28, You are correct but lets trace issue to the proximate and immediate causes and philosophically too. Now why are they sold out as slave? was it conscented or a violation of their own intention? As we speak are they not ladies willing to move on and pligh the trade despite knowing the consequences? are our uni girls not into such act at an increasing rate? The issue is this what leads them to this in the first place? LAZINESS AND LACK OF OPPORTUNITY?. Some ladies from the onset decide to abandon their dreams ,schooling and/or trade or a proffesion, Now what those that amount to? They want a quick one. I will accept it that condition prompts a few into this, But my othher poser is this, HAVEN MADE A LIVING IN IT WHY HAVENT THEY RESIGNED NAD INVESTED THE MONEY INTO SOMETHING MEANINGFUL. It is important every child/everyone from the onset has a vision and a mission of what s/he want to make out of life, afterall many people have very very poor begining and background yet they have made it today. PROSTITUTN IS SIMPLY A MIND THING AND AN ACT OF LAZINESS THAT CANT BE CONDONED FOR ANY REASON, HAVEN WEIGHED IT IN ALL ANGLES. |
