US Will Bypass UN and Aid Persecuted Christians Directly Vice president of America,Mike pence has revealed that USAID will provide direct assistance to religious minorities being persecuted. During a speech to advocates for persecuted christians,he unveiled plans for the United States to provide more direct aid to Christians and other minorities facing genocide The vice president reiterated the Trump administration’s commitment to defending religious groups persecuted by ISIS, announcing plans to visit the region and a strategic shift away from funding “ineffective” United Nations programs. Instead, Pence said President Donald Trump has directed the State Department to send aid directly through USAID and faith-based partners. “We will no longer rely on the United Nations alone to assist persecuted Christians and minorities in the wake of genocide and the atrocities of terrorist groups,” Pence told the crowd gathered in Washington, DC, for the annual summit of In Defense of Christians (IDC). “The United States will work hand in hand from this day forward with faith-based groups and private organizations to help those who are persecuted for their faith. This is the moment, now is the time, and America will support these people in their hour of need.” The Christian population in the region has dwindled significantly, with two-thirds of believers in Iraq and Syria fleeing since 2011. A 2014 CT cover story by Philip Jenkins assessed how Iraqi Christians were “on the edge of extinction.” “This is good news and we want to thank President Trump, Vice President Pence, and all those who have been working diligently on this issue,” said Frank Wolf, distinguished senior fellow at the 21st Century Wilberforce Initiative. “This should impact humanitarian aid for those living as internally displaced persons and refugees and stabilization assistance for the Christians and Yazidis returning to areas seized from them by ISIS.” The US has committed millions to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), which some have called out for not doing more to help Christians in Iraq in particular. “The money has been spent, but not on the Christian refugees,” Nina Shea, director of the Center for Religious Freedom at the Hudson Institute, told conservative news site LifeZette. “The UN has proven itself to be extremely politicized and unaccountable and should be the last body charged with millions—even billions—of dollars of aid to help persecuted minorities on the brink of extinction.” Pence himself echoed the UN critique at the event. “Here is the sad reality. The United Nations claims that more than 160 projects are in Christian areas. But for a third of those projects, there are no Christians to help,” he said. “The believers in Nineveh Iraq have had less than 2 percent of their housing needs addressed and the majority of Christians and Yazidis remain in shelters. Projects that are supposedly marked finished have little more than a UN flag hung outside an unusable building, in many cases a school.” Many experts on humanitarian efforts in the region agreed that the United States made the right move in shifting its approach, though questions remain about the logistics and specifics about the plan Pence referenced. “It’s the right move. The question is, ‘Are we ready for it?’” said Chris Seiple, president emeritus of the Institute for Global Engagement (IGE). Even with the shift away from UN projects, advocates agree oversight will continue to be a challenge. “The UN projects for the minorities have been called insignificant and cosmetic by the Christian leaders on the ground. There have been persistent reports of pay-to-play in the UN’s awarding of contracts,” Shea told CT. “Now USAID and its contractors will face a big responsibility to ensure they listen to authentic community complaints https://www.onlinenigeria.com/site/nigeria-articles/biafra/418074-we-can-no-longer-trust-unfrom-now-we-will-protect-the-christians-from-genocides-by-the-arabs-trump.html |
The Nigeria Police have said all plans have been concluded to open the Nigerian Police Broadcasting Service (NPBS) and the Nigeria Police Emergency Response (NPER) in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory on January 30,2018. According to the police, the media houses will assist to combat insecurity in the country and also create more job opportunities, thereby keying into President Muhammadu Buhari's quest to fight crime and criminality in the country and Vice President Yemi Osibanjo's campaign of job creation for Nigerians. LEADERSHIP Weekend learnt that when fully operational, the NPBS and NPER, which are the innovations of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, will broadcast nationwide on TV, radio, online and the National Emergency Communication Command and Control Centre, with its headquarters in Abuja and locations in each of the 36 states, to ensure effective national coverage. This was contained in a presentation made to the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board in Abuja. Making the presentation on behalf of the police yesterday, Ono Akpe noted that the project is expected to gulp S500 million without the Nigeria Police contributing anything to the fund. "The Nigeria Police has executed an MOU with Skytick International Limited. The company under the MOU is obliged to raise the required fund to construct, purchase and install all needed equipment, including the helicopter and drones for the effective operation of the project throughout the country. "The company with the full complement of the police will operate the NPBS for a period of 20 years before handing over to the Nigeria Police. The Nigeria Police is only obligated under the MOU to provide land in the 36 states and the FCT for construction of the television and radio stations." Speaking on the benefits of the initiave, the chief executive officer of Skytick International Ltd, Edirin Jerry Wesley, who is the major partner, said that NPBS is to serve and ensure that the Nigerian public had access to an efficient and effective police service that meets their security and safety needs through the delivery of its strategic objectives. In his own remark, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Joshak Habila said that the force was more encouraged that the initiative will be a success given the calibre of people involved in the implementation. He added that the coming on board of NPBS would further improve the work of the Nigeria Police as it relates to the security of lives and property. http://allafrica.com/stories/201711250067.html |
Dangote Cement Plc (www.Dangote.com) exported 0.4 million tons of cement to other countries in 2016, 54 per cent more than what it shipped in 2015. The export by Africa’s foremost cement manufacturer, has ended the era of Nigeria’s dependence on importation. News about the increased export was not the only one delivered by the company today. In its 2016 full year audited results presented on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in Lagos, Dangote Cement disclosed it sold 8.6 million metric tons of cement outside Nigeria, which is 54 per cent more than what was sold in 2015. The export is significant given that the nation used to be a net importer of cement. As at 2011, Nigeria was one of the world’s largest importers of cement, buying 5.1 million metric tons of foreign cement at huge expense to the country’s balance of payments. The company’s Pan-African cement plants continued to perform well, contributing significantly to its turnover and profitability. While presenting the results, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Onne van der Weijde, assured the investors of better returns on their investment in the Dangote Cement. According to him: “The new year has started well and we expect much higher profitability in Nigeria in 2017, even though we may not see the volume growth we achieved in 2016. I am confident that we will deliver an even stronger performance in 2017 as we increase market share and extend our reach across Africa.” The economic challenges notwithstanding, Onne revealed that Dangote Cement achieved sales and revenue growth of 25 per cent and consolidated its position as Africa’s leading producer of cement. While sales from Nigerian operations increased by 13.8 per cent to nearly 15.1 million metric tons at a growth rate far higher than the country’s GDP, which fell in 2016, its total revenue leaped by 25.1 per cent to ₦615.1 billion To the delight of the investors, Dangote Cement earnings per share increased by 4.5 per cent to ₦11.34 and the dividend payout to the shareholders also increased significantly by 6.3 per cent to N8.5 kobo per share. Dangote Cement is Africa’s leading cement producer with nearly 46 million metric tons’ capacity across Africa. It is a fully integrated quarry-to-customer producer with production capacity of 29.25Mta in Nigeria; Obajana plant in Kogi is the largest in Africa with 13.25Mta of capacity across four lines; Ibese plant in Ogun State has four cement lines with a combined installed capacity of 12Mta and Gboko plant in Benue state has 4Mta. The company has also concluded arrangements to build new factories in Ogun State (3-6Mta) and Edo State (6.0Mta). Through its recent investments, Dangote Cement has eliminated Nigeria’s dependence on imported cement and has transformed the nation into a net exporter of cement serving neighbouring countries. In addition, the company has invested several billion dollars to build manufacturing plants and import/grinding terminals across Africa. Its operations are in Cameroon (1.5Mta clinker grinding), Congo (1.5Mta), Ghana (1.0Mta import), Ethiopia (2.5Mta), Senegal (1.5Mta), Sierra Leone (0.7Mta import), South Africa (3.3Mta), Tanzania (3.0Mta), Zambia (1.5Mta). The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) on Tuesday reaffirmed its resolve to ensure peace in Northern Nigeria and other parts of the country. The forum gave the assurance after its delegation presented a road map on peace and development of Northern Nigeria to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in Abuja. The deputy Chairman of ACF, Alhaji Musa Kwande, said the Forum was consulting with relevant stakeholders to organise the Northern Nigeria security summit. The ACF chief hailed the Federal Government for stemming the aggression of the Boko Haram insurgency, adding that other crisis should be equally tackled. “It is our conviction that security is of paramount importance and the driver of economic development, hence must be accorded the utmost priority,’’ he said. On the resurgence of Southern Kaduna conflict, the Publicity Secretary of the Forum, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim, said that the crisis was not limited to area. “The crisis is not only limited to Southern Kaduna. We have crisis all over the place as you are fully aware. “We have it in the North East, we have it in Taraba; we have it all over the place. “So the issue is not one spot. We are addressing this and we have been. “Since 2001 we have intervened in so many of these ethnic, tribal, religious and so many crisis of this nature. “Even we have what we call a road map. “We came up with the road map that will provide recommendations to help the state governments and even the Federal Government to address some of the security lapses that we have identified.’’ Ibrahim said that a date for the security summit would be fixed after consultations with major stakeholders. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/04/forum-says-nigerias-peace-non-negotiable/ |
The Overall General of Port Harcourt Maximum Security Prison, Adeosun Kazeem, has converted to Christianity. Kazeem renounced his Muslim faith after participating in the birthday celebration of General Overseer of Apostolic Army, Bishop Winning Willy Bunting. It was gathered that Kazeem landed in the prison after he was convicted of murder in 2007 while in the Nigerian Army. Giving his vote of thanks after the programme, the inmate noted that he resolved to leave Islam as a result of love shown to him by the Christians. He pointed out that he was abandoned by his family members, friends and Muslim brethren immediately he was convicted and brought to the prison yard. He said that only Christians remembered and showed him love during his tribulation and that he finally accepted Christ when he saw the humility exhibited by the bishop. Confirming the development in his birthday massage to the inmates, the Grand Commander of the Apostolic Army, Bishop Bunting, said he was happy with the decision of the inmate to convert to Christianity. Bunting said: “My birthday had always been celebrated in places such as Government Houses and big event centres. This year, I was instructed by God Almighty to go the prisons and celebrate by 55th birthday that there is a gift for me. “God instructed that He wants to use my birthday to do a special thing. God specifically asked for those who have been convicted. The Overall General, who was a Muslim for 40 years accepted Jesus Christ and denounced Muslim. I believe that the strong hold of prison has been broken and there is freedom.” http://dailypost.ng/2017/04/17/prisons-overall-general-dumps-islam-converts-christianity-port-harcourt/ |

Barely one week after slamming Christians and calling the Bible 'fake', controversial journalist Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo, has asked Muslims to tear up the Quran. The very outspoken Kemi, shared the controversial post on her Facebook page, where she gave her reasons for saying the things she said. According to her, the Quran is a tool of destruction, and shouldn't even be touched by 'any reasonable Muslim'. Sharing her opinion on her Facebook page, she wrote: #HNNReligion THE KORAN PAGES NEEDS TO BE RECYCLED CLEARLY. NOBODY SHOULD FEAR MUSLIMS! MUSLIMS SHOULD DESTROY THEIR QURANS OR ALLAH WILL DISOWN YOU. Just like the bible, the Koran is a tool of destruction. No reasonable muslim should ever touch it. Because of the Koran, Yahya Jammeh of #Gambia who always holds one visibly everywhere he goes and islamized his country has refused to step down. Because of the Koran #ISIS is cutting prisoner's heads off like slaughtered goats. Jihad all over the world, because of the Koran, muslim men are marrying up to 4 women and we have 94,000 pregnant women...WITH HIV in #Zamfara state #Nigeria with polygamous homes spreading the disease. Why is there pedophilia in the Koran? Pedophilia is highly unacceptable. Defiling kids is insanity, something many of you joke and laugh about. Remember earlier this year that disgusting filthy elephant #TokunboAboderin made a video saying my father defiled me at 13yo when he came home drunk fathering my own son. I didn't even have kids till 22yo and the brainwashed illiterates believed her. Of course the Daily Post's @OgbecheDanielle set her lies straight and I trashed her MERCILESSLY @tvcconnect on my exclusive interview Dec 13th 2016. Silence is never the best answer for a fool. You reply or you accept their lies as truth. Many muslims have been caught defiling young teens. Why is this in the Koran? Who are the infidels the Koran is asking others to kill? Tear up these nonentity religious books of doom which are tools of death. Many killed in terrorist attacks simply because they could not RECITE the Quran. A way of screening muslim hostages, free them and kill the brainwashed Christians. It happened at #Westgate mall in #Kenya. My grandmother died at 102 in 2013 and was the most famous muslim woman in #Ibadan #Nigeria. Alhaja Bintu Tejumola Olunloyo will tell you #Islam is a religion of peace and I will say AMEN to that but to that Koran, I would like to bury it on my shit when I'm about to FLUSH the toilet. Spiritual Muslims is what the world needs now not Koran addicts. My former moronic neighbor once slammed his Koran on the ground to swear. http://m.news24.com.ng/nigeria/National/News/kemi-olunloyo-asks-muslims-to-tear-their-quran-20161229

Vice Chairman of the People Democratic Party, PDP, South-South zone, Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, has admitted that ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan never wanted any issues with the governors in his administration, which led to his sharing of the country’s treasury with them. He said the action had brought Nigeria to this current economic recession, but called on the All Progressive Congress, APC-led government to proffer solutions to the situation. Ogidi maintained that the APC should have known the problems on ground before campaigning for change, adding that there was recession in Jonathan’s time. Speaking in Warri, Delta State, at the God’s Kingdom Society, GKS’ Feast of Tabernacles, Ogidi told reporters that although recession was global, the country was in economic trouble because there was no savings. According to him, “When Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said we should save for the rainy day, the governors took on then President Goodluck Jonathan. He did not want to have issues with them, so they shared the money. “If your campaign was based on change, it means you know what is on ground and will make a difference. So, why blame the previous government instead of doing your job? There was recession in Jonathan’s time. The difference is how you manage it.” http://dailypost.ng/2016/12/22/recession-jonathan-shared-money-avoid-issues-governors-pdp-chieftain-emmanuel-ogidi/

*Metallic device grows when heated to help men with severe erectile dysfunction *Men with chronic gum disease likely to suffer impotence, study warns Scientists have created a heat-activated metal penis to help men with erectile dysfunction. Developed by experts at the University of Wisconsin in United States (U.S.), the remote-controlled device lengthens to eight inches when heated to 42 degree Celsius. The coil then warms the implant, making it expand and fully erect. The device is made using nitinol, a metal alloy of nickel and titanium, which can change shape in different temperatures. According to The Sun UK, the prototype device is to be tested on animals and could be available to men within a few years. Asif Muneer from the British Association of Urological Surgeons, told The Sun the device had potential to benefit thousands of men suffering with erectile dysfunction. “There are fewer components than with existing inflatable implants and that reduces the chances of infection,” he said. Some patients are not suitable for existing treatments because they have already had major abdominal surgery, say for prostate or bladder cancer, and have a lot of scarring. “With this technique, that’s not a problem.” Dr. Brian Le, from the University of Wisconsin, was among the team who developed the device. He said: “We demonstrated that an Ni-Ti-based prosthesis can produce the mechanical forces necessary for producing a simulated erection without the need for a pump or reservoir, comparable with existing prostheses.” This is not the first bionic penis to be developed by scientists. Mohammad Abad, 44, from Edinburgh was fitted with the £70,000 replacement in 2012 after losing his penis and testicle when he was run over by a car at age six. Four years ago, Mohammed had the life-changing surgery to create his penis, which was constructed using skin from his forearm rolled up like a “sausage roll”. It was only made fully functional in July 2015 after a special operation, and he now he has an implant that allows him to have erections at the touch of a button. Meanwhile, according to a new review of existing studies erectile dysfunction is more common in men with gum disease. The authors write in the International Journal of Impotence Research, that chronic bacterial infection of the gums, or periodontitis, is common and a major cause of tooth loss for adults. The condition has been tied to a higher risk of cardiovascular disease and general inflammation, which in turn have been tied stroke and hardening of the arteries. Stroke and hardening of the arteries are also associated with erectile dysfunction (ED). “In our opinion, the actual biological mechanism of ED in periodontitis patients remains poorly understood,” said senior author Dr. Zhigang Zhao of The First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University in China. “It might still be too early to suggest that men with ED should have their teeth checked; and that men with chronic periodontitis should worry about their sexual function,” Zhao said. “However, it might be beneficial to inform patients with chronic periodontitis about its association with ED.” The reviewers analyzed data from five studies published between 2009 and 2014, including one randomized controlled trial. In total, the studies covered 213,000 participants aged 20 to 80. Each study found erectile dysfunction was more common among men being treated for chronic periodontitis, particularly for those younger than 40 and older than 59. After accounting for diabetes, which can influence both gum disease and sexual function, erectile dysfunction was 2.28 times more common for men with periodontitis than for men without it, according to the report in the International Journal of Impotence Research. “Since chronic periodontitis had been linked with several chronic disorders, it is sensible to recommend daily inter-dental cleaning to reduce dental plaque and gingival inflammation,” Zhao said. “Chronic periodontitis treatment can control or eliminate inflammation and may reduce the risk of ED.” One study in 2013 found that treating periodontitis improves erectile dysfunction symptoms. Furthermore, clinicians should be aware of the potential role played by periodontitis disease in the development of erectile dysfunction,” Zhao said. http://m.guardian.ng/features/eight-inches-remote-control-bionic-penis-created/

A view of millennial dating culture - from a millennial's perspective. When we were younger romantic relationships seemed so much simpler. If you liked someone, you expressed it and if they felt the same way, you started a relationship. Today’s relationships are much more complicated and frustrating. Trust me, I know. We take a look at a few reasons why millennials relationships don’t work out. 1. Apologies are out of fashion With most things happening over texts, emotions are hardly ever shown. For instance, if your significant other is angry/upset with you, texting is normally used to stonewall and/or attack you. Also, instead of communicating in person and expressing ourselves, we escape reality and send hurtful messages to each other which is an unhealthy way of solving the problem. In fact, it rarely solves anything. 2. Romantic notions are seen as forward Most millennials are so afraid of appearing too forward or too clingy that they avoid all notions of romance. Gone are the days where first dates was about a guy showing up at your door with flowers. Nowadays even calling it a date is seen as too formal and too old-fashioned. You're lucky if you end up having coffee at McDonald's. Hand holding and just kissing are a rarity. For some reason this generation seems to have associated romance with clinginess. 3. The expectation of constant communication There’s nothing wrong with instant communication, especially if it’s in the beginning stages of a relationship. However, it can eventually lead to a lack of discussion and boredom. It can also lead to paranoia, for instance if you are used to talking to your partner all the time and then they suddenly don’t text you for hours, then they are automatically up to no good and that causes fights and trust issues. 4. The communication “rule” I’m pretty sure a lot of millennials (especially ladies) will agree with me on this one; the game of “who’s going to text first” determines who holds control in the relationship. Most ladies prefer the guy to initiate conversations because they don’t want to be seen as desperate and clingy. (You will have noticed by now that NOTHING is worse than being clingy.) 5. We want a relationship but not commitment We like the idea of having a partner, but we don’t want the responsibilities that come with it. More and more millennials are going for a “dating partner”. This is someone with whom you do most of what you would with your significant other but without defining the relationship. People get into these for different reasons. Not only is it challenging for the older generation to understand the millennial dating culture, but it is difficult for millennials themselves to understand it. Perhaps it's time we stopped hiding behind our smartphones and started living life |
Several months after it opened an eight-lane road last July, Eko Atlantic City has unveiled its first completed residential building, tagged: the Eko Pearl Towers. An impression of the Eko Pearl Towers Eko Pearl Towers is a set of high-rise buildings, privately owned and developed by the Eko Pearl Construction Company. The development, which is situated about 500 meters away from the financial centre of Lagos on Eko Atlantic City, consists of five high rise residential towers, each topped with deluxe penthouse types, two and three bedroom luxurious apartments with a view of the Lagos coastline. Following the unveiling of the first tower, the Black Pearl, the second, tagged the Champagne Pearl, is scheduled to be completed in 2017. The Eko Pearl Towers will range from 24 to 33 floors; comprising four apartments per floor, two apartments on the royal penthouse floors, a technical floor, terrace floor, a ground floor and a basement floor. Facilities at the new residential building include a pool, tennis court, squash court, fitness centre, meeting rooms, lounges and leisure areas suitable for families and professionals. On-going developments by other clients in Eko Atlantic City include the Azuri Peninsula, the Eko Energy Estate and Alpha 1. The Marina district is a residential and commercial hub in Eko Atlantic City. A pedestrian promenade encircles the Marina offering inspiring views in every direction, from the ocean-going yachts to the notable architecture. Speaking on the development, the Vice Chairman, South Energyx Nigeria Ltd, Mr. Ronald Chagoury Jr., said the completion and unveiling of the Eko Pearl Towers marked a significant milestone for the Eko Atlantic project. “We are very excited to see the city come to life, with the first set of residents moving into the city and we look forward to the completion of other landmark projects within the city,” he said. Eko Atlantic City is expected to provide homes to about 450,000 residents, and 300,000 commuters. It is a planned mixed-use city located on reclaimed land adjacent to Victoria Island in Lagos. The project began in 2003 as, according to the developers, a permanent solution to protect Bar Beach in Victoria Island from the effects of severe coastal erosion, and to safeguard Victoria Island from the threat of flooding. http://www.environewsnigeria.com/first-residential-building-eko-pearl-towers-emerges-eko-atlantic-city/#

Drinking just one pint (568ml/75cl) approximately a bottle of beer every day raises the risk of contracting prostate cancer by 23 per cent, a study has found. The study published in the online journal BMC Cancer warned that it means that when it comes to cancer, there is no safe threshold for drinking. Only binge-drinking was thought to raise the risk of contracting the disease – the most common cancer for men. But this misconception was based on flawed studies that gave men a false sense of security, the new analysis shows. Researchers from the University of Victoria in Australia analysed 26 previous scientific studies that linked the consumption of alcohol to prostate cancer. They found that men who drank two to three units each day – equivalent to one pint of five per cent strength beer or two 175ml glasses of wine – raised their risk of prostate cancer by 23 per cent compared to people who had never drunk alcohol. But even as little as half a pint a week increased the likelihood of contracting the cancer, which is a huge health problem for the British National Health Service (NHS). The research is likely to alarm men who considered themselves moderate drinkers and therefore not in danger. Lead researcher Tim Stockwell said: “For cancer risk, the causal processes appear to be operating whenever we drink, and to a degree directly relate to how much we consume and with no safe threshold.” The risk was underestimated for years because many previous studies put former drinkers in the same category as teetotallers. This created a false impression, because many former drinkers stop or cut down boozing as they age and their health declines. |
Be warned that kissing may not be the safest thing you can do. In fact, there are STIs and other bugs that can be transferred via the locking of lips, some that will stay with you for life. These include: •The common cold The virus that causes the common cold is not found in saliva, but mucus that may very well be a part of the wet kissing a couple may share while one partner has the common cold. •Influenza/flu virus The flu is a highly contagious disease that is spread when you either inhale infected droplets in the air, when an infected person coughs or sneezes, or when you come in direct contact with an infected person's secretions by kissing, touching, and sharing objects. •Glandular fever (infectious mononucleosis) Glandular fever, also known as infectious mononucleosis, is a viral infection that can cause fever, sore throat, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes and glands. It is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus and is one of the most common viruses that can affect humans. After infection, the virus will remain in the body for life, lying dormant in a number of throat and blood cells. The virus is contagious and can be passed on by coming into contact with the saliva of someone who is currently infected, hence its other name -- the kissing disease. •Herpes The herpes simplex viruses get into the body through tiny injuries in the skin or through a mucous membrane, such as inside the mouth or on the genital area. The viruses can be carried in bodily fluids (such as saliva, semen, or fluid in the female genital tract) or in fluid from herpes sores. The risk for infection is highest with direct contact of blisters or sores during an outbreak. •Warts/human papilloma virus (HPV) HPV is a group of viruses that affect the skin and the moist membranes lining the body, like the cervix, anus, mouth and throat. It is a common and highly contagious infection, with over three-quarters of sexually active women acquiring it at some time in their lives. Hepatitis B Hepatitis B is one of the most virulent organisms that exist that you can get from kissing and other body fluids like sweat. •Meningococcal meningitis The bacteria that cause meningococcal meningitis can be spread through the exchange of saliva during kissing and sharing utensils and drinking glasses.

Using a vibrator after becoming accustomed to manual stimulation is like switching from driving a manual to an automatic car: You don't have to work as hard and you don't stall as often, so you can relax and enjoy the ride. If you haven't experienced orgasm yet, a vibrator might do the trick to get you over the top. •Choosing the right one Different vibrators provide different stimulation, so experiment and choose your favorite. - Electric vs. battery: Battery-powered vibrators offer more freedom of movement, while electric ones last longer. - Clitoral vibes: Smaller heads deliver more focused clitoral stimulation, and larger heads spread the vibrations out. - center of gravity stimulation: Choose a curved, firm vibe for effective center of gravity massage. •Position yourself - Lay on your back with vibrator in hand, positioned on your clitoris. - For variation, try lying on your vibrator, clenching it between your legs, or propping it against your body. - More ideas: Stand up, lie in the bath (waterproof, battery-powered only), or squat. - Put a towel or cloth between your clit and the vibrator to ease yourself into the action. •Ready, set, go - Turn your vibrator on and start by running it all over your body. - When you're ready, put a little lube on your clitoris and near your vaginal opening. Drop the tube of lube into a glass of hot water first if you want it warmed up. - For multi-speed vibrators, start on low and work your way up. - Breathe deeply. Feel free to fantasise, read erotica, or watch a video while using your vibe. •Find the spot - Vary the speed, motion, and position of the vibrator to keep things interesting. As you get close to orgasm, back off to stay on the delicious edge a while longer. - Enjoy rocking your pelvis while placing a long, slim vibrator into your vagina. - Try a curved vibrator, face up, to massage your center of gravity during insertion. •Playing with your partner Vibrators are an addition to, not a replacement for, partner sex. Ask your lover to join you sometime! Show your partner how you like it done. Masturbation for a partner can be very intimate and sexy, too. If your partner is open to it, try using a slender vibe with a flared base to stimulate a male partner's prostate.

Sex robots have become a modern reality. According to their website, more than 4000 RealDoll models have been sold across the world in the last few years. Their competitors, True Companion offers the Roxxxy model, who will talk to you about soccer and who will always “orgasm” no matter how good (or bad) your technique is. According to the Daily Star, robot expert, Joel Snell of Kirkwood College, Iowa, believes robotic sex will become addictive as sex bots would never say “no”. Which is a rather disturbing thought. •But can a human fall in love with a robot? Sky News reports that The Human Choice and Computers Conference, held today in Salford, UK, will explore the questions of human sexuality and intimacy with robots. According to Sky, Dr Kathleen Richardson, a senior fellow in the ethics of robotics at De Montford University heads up the Campaign Against Sex Robots. Dr Richardson maintains that a machine would never be able to fulfil a human’s need for relating and intimacy. Robots won’t just submit to your sexual fantasies, they’ll also offer unconditional love and support. But do all people really want real human relationships? I guess not if you listen to Douglas Hines, founder and president of True Companion… In an interview with Men’s Health, Hines claims that his robots won’t just submit to your sexual fantasies, but that they’d also offer unconditional love and support. Two words are problematic in that sentence: “submit” and “unconditional”. Shouldn’t a person who requires complete submission and unconditional support from a partner, regardless of their demands or actions and without a thought as to what the partner wants, rather be in a relationship with an inanimate object than with a human being? •What about ethics? Experts disagree on whether machines and humans will ever be able to be in relationships. Some, like Richardson remain firm in thinking that robots will never be able to replace healthy human interaction, which is why she’s heading up the Campaign Against Sex Robots. But Richardson might be too generous in assuming what people want. There are many dysfunctional, abusive, isolationists out there, who might be perfectly happy with an inanimate, obedient, pleasure machine. Take writer, and owner of a RealDoll, David Mills. In an interview with Vanity Fair he comfortably states that while he “loves” women – “especially their legs” he doesn’t like “being around people”. And then there are futurologists like Ian Pearson who believes that robots will develop emotional and sexual intelligence. In an interview with Inverse he reckons that by 2050 more than half of us will have a sex robot. One can only hope that someone will be championing for the rights of those artificially intelligent models, locked away in basements all over the world. http://m.news24.com.ng/nigeria/Lifestyle/should-sex-robots-be-banned-20160908-3

These laws from around the world show the amazing fascination governments have with what goes on in the bedroom. Some concern themselves with things that are really private matters while others are just downright bizarre. Most of these laws are archaic and disputable, but all purport to be still on the statute books, which means you can be charged with them. •Marital Relations. In Arkansas they let you beat your wife, but only once a month. So you have to be careful how you spend your quota. In Hong Kong if you cheat on your wife, she is allowed to kill you, but only with her bare hands. However, she is not limited as to choices of how to kill your mpango wa kando. •Virgins In Washington it is against the law to have sex with a virgin, even on your wedding night. In Guam it is ok to have sex with a virgin, but they are not allowed to marry. They have men who go around having sex with virgins for pay, not much unlike the hyenas in Malawi. In Cali, Colombia, it is legal to have sex with a virgin on the wedding night, as long as her mother is watching. •Lights Off In Budapest, Hungary it is a criminal offence to have sex with the lights on, even if it is with your spouse in your own bedroom. The same goes for Romboth in Virginia, where it is also against the law to have sex during daytime or while wearing your socks. May be they did not want other people seeing what was going on, but they should instead have stipulated that the curtains have to be drawn, as it is in North Carolina, where sex is only allowed in the missionary position. The other place you are not allowed to get creative with sexual positions is Washington, where only missionary style goes. •Animals . Sex with animals is forbidden in Kenya, as in many other places. In Lebanon however, a man can have sex with an animal, as long as it is female. In Utah you can have sex with an animal, but only if you are being paid to do it. In Florida you get in trouble if you have sex with a porcupine (I wonder why anyone would want to do that) and in Minnesota it is illegal to do it with a live fish. Some places do not tolerate mixing sex with other activities. Tallinn in Estonia forbids playing chess while having sex. But in a place called Oblong, of Illinois, you can have sex while playing chess. However mixing sex and fishing, or hunting is a criminal offense. •Sex accessories. In Arizona it is criminal possession to have more than one Love Machine in your house, though their gun laws are less strict. In Bakersfield, apparently, and this has to be taken with a generous pinch of salt, it is illegal to have sex with the devil without wearing a condom. Dirty talk is forbidden in Oregon during sex, either shouted or whispered gently in the ear. http://m.news24.com.ng/nigeria/Lifestyle/strange-sex-laws-from-around-the-world-20160824-2

He urged the general public to remain vigilant and alert to developments in their immediate environs, and to support security and law enforcement agencies, with critical information on suspicious persons and groups, for the sustenance of relative peace across the country. http://m.news24.com.ng/nigeria/National/News/dss-arrests-boko-harams-spiritual-leader-20160822 |
An unhealthy vagina can affect your fertility and libido. Long-term vaginal distress can affect your relationship with your partner, lower your self-confidence and induce stress. Here are 10 warning signs that indicate your vagina is unhealthy. 1. Itching & Burning A constant itching and burning sensation indicates the onset of a number of vaginal infections. When the harmful bacteria outnumber the good bacteria in the vagina, the imbalance manifests itself through the physical symptom of itching and burning. A certain amount of yeast is essential to ward off harmful bacteria in the vaginal area. However, an overproduction of yeast can result in a yeast infection , causing symptoms that include itching and burning. An inflammatory sensation and itching without any foul odor emanating from the vagina are signs of a yeast infection, according to a 2004 study published in The Journal of the American Medical Association. Itching can also be a reaction to chemicals or ingredients in soaps, creams, contraceptive foams and prepackaged douching mixtures. These mixtures can alter the bacterial balance and acidity of the vagina that protect it against infections. 2. Smelly Discharge It’s unlikely for your vagina to smell like a bed of roses, but if you notice a recurrent strong odor, one that even transfers to your undergarments, it might be a sign of an infection. An excess of harmful bacteria causes bacterial vaginosis. A foul-smelling vaginal discharge is often the first and most common symptom of this infection. A “fishy odor” is one of the major symptoms of bacterial vaginosis, according to a 2011 study published in the International Journal of Women’s Health. This discharge may especially occur after intercourse. Pregnant women who contract bacterial vaginosis run a risk of delivering their baby prematurely, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It also increases the risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including HIV, and may sometimes lead to pelvic inflammatory disease. Therefore, seek medical attention right away if you notice a vaginal odor. 3. Discoloration & Excessive Discharge Vaginal discharge is the body’s natural mechanism to keep the vagina lubricated and flush out harmful bacteria. Normal vaginal discharge – clear or white and does not give off a bad odor. A brown or red discharge that occurs right after a menstrual cycle is usually not a matter of concern. However, if you experience brown or red discharge on normal days between periods, seek medical attention as it could be indicative of cervical cancer. If it occurs during early pregnancy, it could signify a miscarriage. A green or yellow, smelly and froth-like discharge is not normal and may be a sign of trichomoniasis, an STD. A watery white, gray or yellow discharge might be a symptom of bacterial vaginosis. While the amount of discharge differs from woman to woman, recurrent and excessive discharge may also indicate bacterial vaginosis. Seek medical attention right away if you notice a discoloration in your vaginal discharge. 4. Abnormal Bleeding If you experience bleeding between periods, it is a cause for alarm. A menstrual cycle that lasts abnormally long may also be a sign that there’s a problem. If you have reached menopause (absence of menstruation for 12 months) but are still experiencing bleeding and spotting, consult your gynecologist immediately. Post-menopausal bleeding is a crucial symptom and must be immediately diagnosed to prevent its transformation into a malignant disease, according to a 2013 study published in the International Journal of Reproduction, Contraception, Obstetrics and Gynecology. Some women may also notice the passage of blood clots through the vagina post-menopause – another warning sign of an unhealthy vagina and related diseases, such as endometrial polyps (growths in the inner lining of the uterus) or endometrial or cervical cancer. 5. Bleeding During or After Intercourse While it is common for women who are new to sexual intercourse to experience bleeding, medical attention must be sought if it is a recurring issue in young women. Bleeding during or after intercourse in a woman of any age could indicate a vaginal infection, a vaginal tear (induced by childbirth), STDs like chlamydia or vaginal dryness. The friction produced during intercourse can irritate dry skin and cause spotting. If you have gone through menopause and experience bleeding during or after intercourse, it is a great cause for worry as it could indicate cervical cancer. Therefore, any abnormal bleeding during or after intercourse needs medical attention as it could have long-lasting and grave consequences. 6. Vaginal Atrophy Your vagina becomes dry, thin and inflamed when your body produces less estrogen than required. This is called vaginal atrophy. The most common symptom of vaginal atrophy is painful intercourse. It is most likely to occur after menopause, since that is the time when the body’s estrogen production declines. It can also occur during breastfeeding. Thinning of the vagina due to vaginal atrophy may lead to urinary tract infections. Seek medical attention if you experience painful intercourse at any age. 7. Bumps or Blisters If you notice a bump on your outer vagina, it might be a symptom of vaginal or vulvar cancer. Vaginal cancer remains one of the least-discussed cancers among women today. Although it is not as common as other cancers in women, a study published in 2000 in The Journal of Reproductive Medicine reported a significant increase in the number of young women contracting vulvar cancer since 1980. A cancerous bump may begin as a mole but change color and texture to transform into a hard bump or lesion. The bump can occur anywhere on the outer vagina, although it is most commonly located near the clitoris. It is usually black or dark brown, but it can also be pink, red or white. Sores and blisters might be symptoms of STDs, such as genital herpes. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice a bump on your outer vagina. 8. Painful Urination While painful urination is most commonly associated with urinary tract infections , it can also be a major symptom of a vaginal infection like a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis. A vaginal infection can occur due to the use of products like creams and soaps that contain certain harmful chemicals. It may also occur from using a chemical-based douche or leaving a tampon in too long. Vaginal infections often cause the vagina to become inflamed and hurt when urine passes through it. Painful urination can also be a symptom of various STDs, including chlamydia and genital herpes. Apart from being painful, the urination may also be inflammatory and the person may suffer constant vaginal itching. If you experience pain while urinating, seek medical attention.

It devastates a woman to discover you are cheating on her. It is a blow to her confidence and the trust she had for you. It hurts and makes her mad enough to trash your car or kill somebody. Her first instinct is to walk away from it all. If she catches you cheating, it may mean the death of your relationship. But not necessarily so, provided you do a few things right and not mind having your mistake brought up for the rest of your life. 1. Be good. Stop doing many of the bad things you have been doing before and be on your best behavior until she has been won back. Show remorse and willingness to make amends. Forget about the other girl and any other girl for possibly the rest of your life. Get into the habit of being useful around the house, remembering every small holiday and staying at home on match night. It’s tough, but you asked for it. 2. Give her space. Get out of her sight for a time. She needs to calm down a bit and decide whether you are worth coming back to. In the meantime, don’t just wait around patiently. Be refreshing her mind about how awesome you are with well thought out gifts and notes of apology. Also be lobbying her friends to help her decide in your favour, perhaps giving them better gifts, because they wield so much power over you right now. 3. Tell some truth. You are going to have to own up a bit. But the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth will bury you alive. All the lady wants to know is that you are sorry and that she is still your number one choice. Tell the truth alright but fudge it around the edges, stretch it a bit and don’t volunteer unnecessary details. And even if she has seen the incriminating evidence, destroy it utterly. History can always be rewritten. 4. Start over. Your relationship as you knew it is over. She trusts you no more. Forget about that relationship and begin afresh. Show that you are changed. Cut out of your life what it was that misled you before. Work on regaining her trust. Avoid making promises and keep those you make. Show a commitment that wins her over. 5. Don’t beg. Keep your dignity. Do not flood her with calls, messages and gifts. Do not stalk her. Nothing will turn her off faster than to see you everywhere she goes. It is ok to go overboard once to prove how sorry you are and how much you want her back. But you ruin your chances by constantly embarrassing and bothering her. Bonus: If you have tried all this and some more and she still doesn’t show signs of coming back, pretend that you have tried your best and that you understand it’s time to give up. Be seen by her friends hanging out casually with another girl. If this doesn’t bring her back then yours is a lost cause.

We spend ridiculous amounts of money and time in pursuit of the perfect skin. We’re like pedantic drill sergeants when it comes to removing makeup before we go to bed and applying day and night creams, toners, serums and eye creams. But somehow we’re just not there yet. The answer to our problem might be staring us in the face. Or rather – in our throats. *Alcohol. While there are tonnes of nasty effects alcohol could have on your skin, it’s not all doom and gloom. It might be about cutting back or just switching to a less harmful alternative. What alcohol does to your skin There’s a reason you’re so thirsty for water after a night of heavy drinking. Alcohol dehydrates you. And this dehydration wreaks havoc on your skin, making appear dry and less fresh the next morning. Dry skin is much more likely to wrinkle. That’s why heavy drinkers often seem older than they are. Not only that – alcohol is also a hepatotoxin, which specifically damages the liver. And this effect on skin? “One way to look at it, is to ask what does someone look like who is dying of liver failure? They’re sallow, they’re pasty, they’re cold, their pores are huge,” Dr David Colbert, founder of New York Dermatology Group told the Huffington Post . Alcohol also steals Vitamin A, which aids cell renewal and turnover, meaning your skin can start looking grey and dull. “If you look at a woman who has been drinking for 20 or 30 years, and a woman the same age who hasn’t at all, we see a massive difference in the skin—more wrinkles from that dehydration damage, which can make you look 10 years older,” nutritionist Jairo Rodriguez says in Vogue. The best and worst drinks for your skin • Clear shots (gin, tequila, vodka) vs dark shots (rum, whiskey tequila) “Different alcohols have different effects on the skin, but as a general rule, the clearer, the better: Vodka, gin, and tequila gets out of your system quicker,” Rodriguez says. These shots are the best way of avoiding sugar, salt, caffeine and other harmful ingredients (more on that later). Nursing one or two shots of clear shots all evening is fine but be warned: some people who drink shots might end up drinking more alcohol than intended and more alcohol is always the worst option for your skin. •Dark shots ln contrast to clear shots, generally contain a thing called congeners (aka impurities) which are used in the fermentation process and which may worsen your hangover. Even though the connection hasn’t been formally proven, the excess impurities of the congeners may age skin, the Huffington Post says. • Mojitos, margaritas, white wine and other sweet drinks Sugar has a bad reputation in many industries and when it comes to alcohol it’s no different. “Sugar anywhere in the diet, along with other excessive carbs, leads to systemic inflammation, which contributes ultimately to cell damage and increased skin aging,” Dr Jessica Krant Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center says. “The less sugar you take in with your alcohol, the better for your long-term wrinkle risk.” Unfortunately, this goes for white wine too, which contains a lot of sugar. Margaritas and other tequila-based drinks have the extra problem of containing salt as well as sugar. “The intake of any salt, no matter the source, does contribute to bloating,” Dr. Krant explains. “This is temporary, but no one likes to feel and look puffy on top of a hangover.” Alcohol also steals Vitamin A, which aids cell renewal and turnover, meaning your skin can start looking grey and dull. • Beer Beer also contains salt, but isn’t dangerously high in sodium levels like other drinks. It also has some other redeeming qualities: it has less alcohol than straight liquor if you look at it from a millilitre to millilitre basis. It also contains some anti-aging benefits and antioxidants. Look out for calories in beer, though. No point in avoiding the skin problem, but replacing it with a weight gain problem. • Red wine Once again red wine comes out as the unexpected winner in a health test. “Red wine contains more antioxidants than white, which may help counteract some aging processes,” Dr. Krant says. “I would say the best single drink to have to support skin health and minimize aging risks is a glass of red wine.” It’s not all good news, though. Red wine is toxic when you have skin issues like rosacea (a facial skin condition characterised by redness and spots). Experts are also quick to add that any alcohol in excess is bad for your skin. •Other side effects Not only is excess alcohol in itself not good for your skin, what you do after drinking copious amounts could be just as bad. Think of those times when you go to bed with makeup on or start with your ‘social smoking’ habit. Both big no-no’s when it comes to beautiful skin. http://m.news24.com.ng/nigeria/Lifestyle/what-drinking-alcohol-does-to-your-skin-20160804-2

Nigeria has shelved a plan to build a $10 million film village outside the mainly Muslim northern city of Kano, bowing to virulent opposition from radical Muslim clerics. The decision deals a blow to a booming industry, developers said, as the centre was to generate thousands more jobs in a city hit with staggering unemployment. Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, an adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, said the cancellation answered the wishes of the local population. "The people have had their say and the government has heeded them," he told reporters last week after months of discord. The project, to be built on a 20-hectare (nearly 50-acre) expanse near Kano, planned for a film center, a 400-capacity auditorium, a hostel, a sound stage, a restaurant, a three-star hotel, a shopping mall, a stadium and a clinic. Salafist clerics blasted it in Friday sermons, saying it would promote immorality and undermine Islamic values. "We don't want it, we don't need it, they should take it somewhere. We will continue to curse the people behind this film village," said Abdullahi Usman Gadon-Kaya, who spearheaded the protest. Joined by critics on local radio and the social media, they drowned out those in favour of the film village. Danjuma Wurim Dadu of the Nigerian Film Corporation had told a film conference in Kano that more than $3 million had been set aside for the centre, which he said was to create 10,000 jobs It aimed to boost the massively popular local film industry known as "Kannywood", which, according to the national film censors agency, accounts for 38 percent of film production in Nigeria, a country that already turns out the second highest number of films per year worldwide after India's Bollywood. "This is a missed opportunity to provide much-needed jobs for the teeming unemployed youth, who have turned to drugs for solace", local film analyst Mudan Saidu told AFP. Film producer Sani Muazu said the project would have helped improve film quality and generate further revenue by boosting production of top-quality television commercials. Kano's economy had a thriving textile industry in the 1980s but started declining due to electricity shortages, high lending rates and competition from cheap imports. The downturn forced more than 400 of Kano's 500 factories to close, leaving thousands without work and Kano with the highest unemployment in the country, according to the National Directorate of Employment. The advent of "Kannywood" named after Kano, offered a new source of jobs. It started in 1992 with seven production companies, and expanded over the next decade to 268 production outfits and 315 editing studios, employing more than 60,000 people, according to the Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN). Nigeria is well known for its "Nollywood" video production which churns out about 200 films a month in the country's educated and urban south. Shot in English as well as the local Yoruba and Igbo languages, they are popular throughout west Africa. The northern Kannywood has huge appeal among the 60 million Hausa speakers, a language widely spoken across west Africa. In its 2010 report, the World Bank estimated that Nigerian film industry overall was generating $1 billion a year to the economy. But Muslim clerics have kept close watch on Kannywood, accusing it of promoting un-Islamic foreign values by imitating American Hollywood and Indian Bollywood movies, a charge film makers have denied. While Nollywood and Kannywood focus on similar themes love, romance, black magic and betrayal, the Kano-made films follow a strict code in which men and women do not touch and actresses respect the reputation of women in traditional Islamic society. In 2008, a sex video involving a popular Kannywood actress in Kano gave clerics the ammunition they needed against the industry. The video, filmed two years earlier on a cellphone during a private tryst, was never intended for public distribution but got onto the cellphone circuit, causing an uproar from clerics and prompting a six-month government ban that cost the industry $29 million in lost revenue. Mutual resentment between the clerics and film makers has grown since. The film village, named after President Buhari, was initiated by Abdulmumin Jibrin, a lawmaker representing Kano in the House of Representives in Abuja. But Jibrin has been accused of unilaterally inserting the project in the budget without the approval of either the president or the house. http://m.news24.com.ng/nigeria/National/News/nigeria-halts-film-village-plans-after-muslim-clerics-protest-20160802-2 |
